Hello all, back from an absolutely wonderful trip to the UK, lots and lots of walking and stair climbing in old castles and ruins, also did something to my knee coming down a set of round stone steps of the 1500's era so going up and down the stairs I had to revert to the old one foot on then other step, like I was a two year old learning to walk but it was all good. One great highlight of my vacation was taking the train down to where LilacBlue lives where she met me at the station and I went to her Body Balance class, how wonderful was that, she has absolutely delightful members and I had a great few hours with her, wish I could have spent longer in her company but was so good to see her also just want to tell you, she is a fabulous instructor, I thoroughly enjoyed her class.

Back home and had a bit of jet lag on monday so just relaxed in the recliner, went to Sprint class last night and oh my is it HOT here it was a relief to go to an air conditioned gym, hopefully it will break soon.

Here's a picture of where WWW walked this morning. I will be getting plenty of exercise today, as my two-dog friend and I are going to walk the puppies this afternoon (the weather is supposed to get cold and nasty starting tomorrow), and I will do Zumba and Yoga tonight.

Cheryl, so happy to hear you had a great trip. Thanks, added that one to my list: take a class with LilacBlue in the U.K. one day!

Here's my friend, me and the dogs. We were TRYING to get a posed picture; without much success, as you can see. If you are asking who's walking whom....it would be a legitimate question!

You are too kind Cheryl and wonderful to spend time with you too - my pink so. cal soul sister! The lovely gym ladies enjoyed you too and now off to the gathering of sculpted sisters - lucky you! Oh Ruth, what a handful. Wonderland, excellent, clever christmas decs. Falconer, your flexibility yoga is building. Is your diep hip to hip, less sensitive, more pliable, and feathered out in color? cdv, your hair growth post points to another reason that specialist exercise classes for bc are so helpful. Most women at our pilates class feel comfortable enough to not have to cover their bald or bristle growth and the only public place they feel comfortable to do so. Well done on the weight loss!

Sorry to have not been around much yet I've been a bit tired and trying to focus on life offline. Visited DS at uni last weekend and on Saturday while hubby and son went to Ikea I was on a one-day course for seated Tai Chi in Nottingham. Was amazing at to how much one can learn to use different parts of your glutes while seated doing tai chi no less. On Sunday the US formula 1 was on tv. DH remarked on everyone in pink shirts and the bright pink mic covers the announcers where holding and asked of that was a Pinktober thing. Yes, indeed it was and pointed out it's bc awareness month here too but on a far less in your face approach. Need to get cracking on my October invoicing and have a few errands to run. Enjoy the Thursday slide to Friday everyone!

75 min Yin Yoga class yesterday...and just back from the 75 minute "Not" Gentle Yoga class. That is what I pencil it in on my calendar, Gentle Yoga - NOT! The Thursday instructor I think wants to get a Hot Yoga class, but this Gentle class is her current assignment. It is "gentle" as props are used, but NOT as it is very rigorous and I frequently get hurt from this class if I forget to self monitor not to simply follow along with her instructions as at least 3 times a class we end up at the end of a sequence in a Not Gentle pose or movement!

That said, always happy to have gone and continue getting stronger each week, now 7 weeks post-op tomorrow.

The wind was gusting to 59 mph today & there were snow flurries coming down sideways! I stayed home, did a toning DVD and cleaned the house. Blah!

welcome home Cheryl! LB did you get one of her wonderful hugs?

TT, it's great that you modify some poses, but if the class is called Gentle, the instructor should be gentle!

Have you seen these papers re: safe exercise? The first link is for us and and the second is for our trainers.

Why is it when I have a extra few minutes to post, the site eats my posts? Ugh! Wonderland, the blue Santas are adorable. You are so talented! TT, boo to a not gentle yoga class. You shouldn't have to spend that much time in class making sure to "gentle down" the movements. Frustrating! Ruth, sideways snow flurries and gusty winds would keep me inside too. Thank goodness for so many options to be active right in our own home.

So far the week has gone well exercise-wise. The cancer center's scale was about 3 lbs off of mine, but not in the yay, I'm even lighter way, lol. Oh well, loss is still a loss and I can monitor the difference to make sure it still matches up. I'm 6' tall so, 5 or 6 lbs is not really noticeable, but it is motivating.

Off to parent teacher conferences for my high school sophomore. Love meeting all the teachers. We are very lucky to be in a great high school with really dedicated teachers. Thenin to work. Blah to that but at least it's a short day before the weekend. Silver linings!

    Have a great day everyone!

Well after my "not" gentle yoga, went for a 2+ mile walk with DH after dinner...besides getting my 10K steps in, today for the first time since diagnosed, the scale started with a 1 vs a 2!

Yay, TrmTab, that is an accomplishment! I too, decided to take a yoga class. The instructor claimed it was beginner, but it was not. She also grabbed my arm and pulled it for a stretch. I wanted to scream, no! You have no idea what scar tissue being harshly pulled feels like. I had even told her that I had had surgery before the class. Won't do that again.

Lots of movement in this thread! I've been on track with my workouts. Mix of strength training, yoga and running and feels good. Today is an active rest day, which means a busy day at work and dinner out.

Power of exercise: I was on vacation for two weeks and then got a nasty cold when we got back, so basically was off my regular routine (other than walking) for 3 weeks. By the 3rd week I could feel my joints acting up, wrist, knees, shoulder. It was counter-intuitive at first to push though vigorous exercise, but I persevered, and magically all pain disappeared within days! Even if exercise doesn't improve survival (which we all hope it does), it definitely does improve quality of life, physical or mental.

Absolutely, Erin! And for everyone, not just cancer survivors; if you exercise and keep moving, you will be able to do more fun and interesting things later into your life.....hopefully all the way through!

It is still really cold & windy so I went to the new fitness center & walked around the track for 45 minutes, then came home & did some abs. I am going to a fund raiser yoga class tonight.

Exactly ruth. I actually thought I didn't have any joint pain from hormone therapy, but it may be in fact because I'm very active and never noticed it. Being off exercise proved that I may in fact suffer from join pain as a result of Tam + Zoladex if I stop moving!

Hi I would like to jump in this thread and join you all.

I was dx this past spring at age 46. Will have my last chemo treatment next week and will start radiation in Nov. I am looking forward to returning to my normal. I am an avid runner and also enjoy spin classes, strength work and yoga. But running is my true love. I have been fortunate...chemo has gone well and I feel pretty good. I rwas able to run pretty regularly up until 4 wks ago. Now it's more of a run/walk, (run a blk, walk a blk) also still able to do yoga and low impact strength.

Today I did 30 min of yoga focusing on strength and balance and will walk and run on my treadmill after work.

I always find motivation among others...excited to join this group!

Hi all, my weekly work outs consist of daily power walks of up to 3 miles, at least 45 minutes of yoga, and my breast surgeon just started a monthly 45 minute stretch class for breast cancer survivors of all stages.

Feels good to be active! When my journey with bc started I never thought I'd be as active as I was b4, but here I am......here we are.

    Hugs to all

Eren, yes, keeping on moving is the secret to less pain. Congrats TT on the digital change on that scale. Congrats for even baby weight steps, cdv. Woohoo!

Welcome Runnermum and catsme. Catsme, what a great idea from your breast surgeon. Runnermum, I am still trying to be a runner but that definition escapes me out of pure laziness. I decided to run at least 1 mile everyday for a month then up it another mile for another month. At least I will have my running shoes on everyday.

Yesterday I did a lot of Zumba cooldowns from Youtube and two hours of Tango. The cooldowns feel like Yoga with cool music.
