Let's Post our Daily Exercise

Had my oncology checkup in Boston today. Everything looks good. (Aside from these blasted hives). 9 more months on the AI and I will be done with it.
-
Yea, Ginger (except for the hives!)!
-
Got my 10k steps in and 50+ active minutes just doing work around the house/yard and some shopping. In search of new sheets for the bed, we are searching for that crisp cotton feel of old, all the sheets these days seem slick and slippery. Came up empty yesterday. When in Europe we love the feel of the bed linen there, both sheets and duvet covers, but can't seem to duplicate it here.
Happy Thursday everyone.

Good cardio session at the fitness center this morning. I've been trying out all the new machines to figure out which ones I like best. There's a seated bike that has both arm and foot pedals you work at the same time that's a good one. There are also a couple of rowing machines that use water as resistance so you hear water sounds as you row. That's the next one I'm going to try.

Hate it when cold and cough gets in the way of exercise. Had to take it slow for a week, but kept walking. Slowly back to running, yoga and weights. Bought passes for local zumba class. Looking forward to it. It's amazing how quickly we lose fitness while it takes forever to build up. Not fair!
-
Ginger- glad to hear you're at the end of the AI stretch. Sorry about the hives, ugh!
Pat01- I don't think I replied to your post about being with your DD before baby comes and everything changes. What a dear, dear observation. I hope someday to be a grandmother to my DDs or DSs children! So happy for you.
40 mins of yoga today at home before running back out for a meeting at little DSs school.
BTW, Mary, things are quite tense here after the Nats whooped the Cubs last night. I'm rooting for your team but don't tell my DH. We here will get him back to ourselves sooner instead of sharing him with the baseball post season!
-
Falconer - thought the neighbors were going to call 911 after the home run last night cuz DH and I were screaming so much. Nervously waiting the last hour for the start of the game. Should get in lots of steps tonight from nervous pacing, LOL.
-
Knocking on wood, Mary. Go Nats!
I ended up going to Zumba & yoga last night, so was all exercised out by the time the day was over! Today I subbed & am going to do a 45 minute toning DVD in a couple minutes.
-
This week has been busy. I made it to the gym twice Monday and Thursday for a full weight work out and did the tread mill on Tuesday. Plan to go tomorrow.
-
Got my 3 mile walk in yesterday. Supposed to leave for Ireland Monday but apparently they may get a hurricane! I'm sure this will mess up our flights
Sorry about the Nats Mary.
Beautiful fall weather here. Happy Friday everyone.
-
Oh well about my Nats. As they say, wait till next year. Too tired from staying up till the wee hours watching the game - I think my exercise today will be walking back to the bedroom for a nap!
-
I am SO sorry about the game, Mary. Drats!
I subbed today, walked the puppies, and am off to a college basketball game in a few minutes. We are going to an out-of-town high school football game tomorrow....sports fiend weekend!

Hi everyone just found this page ts 15days since my mastectomy left side and I want to exercise but not sure how much I should do. I dont have a lot of pain but the tightness is something else is there anything that can be done to ease this. I am moving the arm and doing some daily simple exercises. Looking forwards to the answers.

I had the same ten years ago. Only do the simple exercises that they showed you until your drains are removed and you get your 6 week check up. Then ask what if any limitations you have and what is your weight limit. Try not to rush into allot of heavy stuff too quickly, as my told me, it is only you and I in the operating room so take good care of yourself. Really - with any operation, they cut you and that takes time to heal inside too.
Best of luck to you!
-
Welcome Dark and Desny! Dark, definitely keep up your arm stretches. Desny has given you good advice.
Last night my exercise was dancing at the Bruno Mars concert in Raleigh. What an awesome show! Hot Damn
-
hi all and welcome Dark13 and Castigame! Good to see you back Desny, it's been a while. :-)
Been busy, and exercising, but not posting. Getting ready for a big presentation on Monday.
Wonderland, I didn't like Bruno Mars until I saw old-time movie starts dancing to Uptown Funk.
Some have seen this amazing video but it's worth posting again. Don't believe me, just watch!
-
And here's the official music video.
-
Badger: Love the videos! Especially the first one!!!
Walked/ran today.
-
Did a lot of walking today trying to find new jeans. Then went to the gym. 30 minutes on weights and 15 on the elipitical in the hiking setting.
-
Yoga level 2 class today- graduated back up from very beginner. Dark13- my last surgery was may 30, and it's true, it takes lots of time and patience to get back to semi-normal. Keep moving your arm, but take it slow. Best to you!
Wonderland- yay for dancing with Bruno -
Hey Falconer, terrific progress with yoga! Welcome Dark and Desny and Dark, taking it slow to ease back in and walking is where many of us have started. It's good to have a clearance from your dr. or breast nurse to do more than offered arm exercise post-surgery.
I'm back from a few days in London and now a certified Move It Or Lose It instructor. Enjoyed the training and two other women from my area where on the course, so we discussed where we wanted to open classes so as not to overlap, all is good. Great to be in London, so much energy and diversity. The most sublime corner french algerian cafe down the road from the venue, where the freshly baked croissants, pain au chocolat and pain au raisin, when eyes closed munching, took me straight back to Paris. There were nine of us on the course and enjoyed the company of all, including another American expat, who has been in the UK 35 years. Must dash to shower and off to the spa to teach Pilates at 10am. Have an enjoyable autumn Sunday everyone.
-
Hot damn, indeed, Wonderland! Falconer, way to go on yoga! Congrats on the certificate, LB.
Doing lots of laundry and sculpt after getting back from our fall break vacation.
-
Packers play the Vikings at noon so I'm headed to the gym, which is sure to be deserted. :-)
-
Badger, I love that video. Saw it when the song was popular and I'm always amazed what a great job they did with it. I can watch it over and over. BTW, just heard your quarterback was carted off the field. Yikes.
Sorry, not sorry, Mary that your Nats lost (long-time Cub fan here). Not sure Cubs will be able to handle the Dodgers so I'm not crowing too loud.
CDV, as lilac said, 1 pound weights is where they start. I did a cancer specific program and 1 pound seemed ridiculous to me, but that's how we started.
Wonderland, so sorry about your cat. Its hard to lose our long term friends. Your pumpkins are so beautiful this year, too.
It has been rainy here - payback for all the nice weather we had. I have been focusing on strength this week instead of walking - doing barbells, pilates and planks in the evenings.
-
Wonderland- the pumpkins are awesome! So sorry to hear about your cat. We had Him Kitty for 18 years and when he got sick our vet told us....you will know when it's time. That was one of the hardest decisions we ever had to make. 2013 was a rough year!
Next Sunday I will attend orientation at the gym at my church! Our church has an amazing gym. It is open to our community. All you have to do is go through the orientation and pay a $10 deposit for the fob that unlocks the door. I have struggled with getting back into a routine work out since my diagnosis. You ladies are my motivation! You all are do active. I get an average of 25,000 steps in a day but that's just me doing housework, chasing grand kids and delivering Meals on Wheels. I hope to be posting a real work out soon!
-
Good job, Everyone! And welcome to the new ladies.
We were out of town for a football game yesterday (which our team lost by one point, boo hoo), but when we got home about 830 pm, I jumped on the dreadmill for 20 minutes & did a 'bat wing' arm exercise on utube which was 12 minutes long. I just got home from 'Reset Yoga' (wonderful) and maybe do some cardio DVD because it is cold and windy out.
Yikes, Badger, sorry about Aaron Rodgers!
-
Love both Bruno videos! Wonderland, I'm so sorry about your cat. Your pumpkins are amazing. I love hearing about these exercise facilities that are available. $10 is a great deal, Vargadoll. Lilac, the training sounds like a great week and that you're well on your way getting the program up and running. Welcome to destiny and dark13.
I've finished another week of C25k. Had a 20 min run today. Wonderful feeling! You are all right that slow and steady wins this "race". I got one of the books I ordered (The Breast Cancers Survivors Fitness Plan) and it has basic stretches and exercises perfect to build up from. It's always hard to go from doing so much strength-wise to starting over, but, like with running, I have to swallow some of my pride and do what is best.
I started the tamoxifen a few days ago. So far nothing noticed. I know things pop up when they do, but I am hopeful I'll be able to keep up with exercise. I truly feel that being leaner and losing fat will do much to keep cancer from coming back again and keep me healthy overall
-
cdv, you are right. Leaner can only help us keep cancer at bay, and the bonus is feeling better and being able to do more.
I notice the earlier darkness is sapping my energy. I've got to come up with a plan to keep moving after dark.
I had a slow exercise week last week. My plan this week is to focus on better eating (made a bunch of veggie dishes yesterday so no excuses) and plan on 4 days of ex after work.
Saw a great concert Fri with DD and DH. Chick Corea and Steve Gadd. If you like jazz they are on a new tour all over the world. I recommend them.highly.
Have a good week everyone!
-
Playing the waiting game today - supposed to fly to Ireland this evening, and they are having the remains of hurricane Ophelia. So far our flight is just delayed by 30 minutes, but think that will change throughout the day. I'm ready to go, but not getting my hopes up.
Yesterday was a scattering of some ashes at sea for our dear friend who passed last spring. The majority of his ashes were buried, but a little bit was saved for this ceremony and another at his hunt camp. He loved to fish and hunt. We really miss him, so yesterday was a sad day for us.
If I get my last minute chores done, I'll try to get a walk in to burn off my nervous energy playing this waiting game.
-
Nothing worse then a delayed trip. Had a trip to the gym in my calendar today but just could get the energy to go. Did 1/2 hour on the treadmill at home at a fast walk.
