Glad you can be back in action, Mommy!

Our unusually mild weather is continuing .I took another nice walk today, and we are going to walk to & back from a volleyball match tonight (a little over half a mile each way). It's too windy to rake......we are going to have lots of work to do once it calms down again.

    It was a welcome relief.

I managed to sneak in a 5k run in between downpours and between finishing a work task and a conference call. We are certainly past the balmy summer weather here! Someone mentioned something about darkness, and it appears to be upon us.

On a brighter note, my mammogram was just fine. - Claire

Mary, that was the most interesting game between the Nats and Cubs. Oh well- sad that baseball is over for me but after a lifetime of waiting, honestly 2016 was good enough. It looks to me like Dodgers are unbeatable and probably are the next champs.

2fun and Falconer, I also have had hip pain when I try to run. That's my excuse for not running! I was doing it once a week for a while and that was OK, but now I just switched back to waking with occasional sprints. I want to be able to say I can run, but I was too afraid what was going on.

I got a walk in Thursday and did some weights throughout the week watching games but that's it. Today I really need to mow the lawn. Its looking kind of cloudy so not sure what the weather is.

twohobbies, I have constant hip pain. So I am jelous that you have hip pain with running! Just mowed the lawn for an hour. Now off to get DD from college for a quick overnight. She's only 30 min away, unlike DS who is 11 hrs away! We are heading out to see him and friends next weekend, wasn't planned, but all is good. We are having a hot fall, more than 20 degrees warmer than usual. Enjoy the fall everyone!

Zumba and yoga this morning. I went to a craft show this afternoon.....although it was much more than crafts. This is a big show that only sells North Dakota products. I bought a bunch of Christmas presents (wine, bread & soup mixes, homemade dog treats, homemade soaps etc.). I will probably go back tomorrow for some more!!!

I ended up going for a trail hike with my husband, one hour. It turned out to be a warm, sunny, day. Someone can mow the lawn tomorrow!

Falconer: Too funny what you wrote about the band half time show sounding like an episode of Glee meets The Onion! It was just so weird!

Claire: Congratulations on your good mammogram. Lovey pictures!

    Nats: Nice looking rowing machine.

M0mmy: Congratulations on your all clear.

Octo: November 2 is just around the corner!

2FUN: Have a good time with your dd.

Ruth: It's always good to start Christmas shopping early. The fair sounds very interesting.

TH: Love your attitude about mowing! Hikes with dh are much better.

Hi Everyone! Been doing lots of walking/running in the afternoons. Tonight we grilled out chicken, steak filet, flounder, and vegetables. Wish all of you could have joined us as it was delicious!

Agree with TH, it was a beautiful day here. Perfect for cleaning out DH's garden. Picked kale, squash, and the last of the tomatoes including green ones for chutney. Two hours Garden & Sculpt tuckered me out so napped then gym, 30 mins TM. Too nice to be inside. Will hit it hard 2moro morning.

Been a busy week for all, I see! Badger and all gardeners, I love reading about your labors. I have a very black thumb (I killed the ivy from my wedding bouquet my mom lovingly planted for me.) but love gardens and always toy with starting one. This wasn't a good year for it, but next year I'm going to do it. Congrats to all on their all clears for testing! Twohobbies, the hiking sounds lovely. And the lawn will still be there today, right? Ruth, I love craft shows like that. There is a big one here that support a local marching band and I can always find good presents. Have fun on day 2! I had a bout of bursitis in my hip that caused pain when running. I had some PT and learned some stretches and strength stuff with bands that has helped with the aches I now have from all this.

Work was....interesting this week. While I was off recovering from reconstruction, they did a restructuring, fired a bunch of people, demoted everyone else. So they decided they actually needed people doing what they were doing before all that to make the company run and now I'm in a position to have to apply for my old job. I don't even want it anymore. I want to leave. But I can't really look right right now so I have to put up with this. Thank goodness I can sweat away my day.

On a positive note, my scale shows I've lost 6 lbs. The stupid scale at the cancer center better show it on Wednesday.

Also, I've had a few people at work offer me their unsolicited opinions that they can see hair peeking out of my scarf so I should just stop wearing them. My hair isn't quite long enough for *me* to feel comfortable. But now it's a thing at work apparently. I can't wait to ditch the scarf because it's hot when I'm running. The length is not quite there for me yet; it's getting there. Last time it took about 4 months out before it was at a comfortable length. I shouldn't have to explain that to anyone. Vent over, have a great week everyone

CDV, so sorry about the mess at work. Maybe you should find out what packages they are offering, if any. Might be a good time to take one. I have three memories of taking off the wig for my super short pixie-about 5 months post. My good friend gave me the biggest silent hug, my other best friend said I looked so young! and one of the guys I worked with asked me why I cut my hair! LOL.

I just popped in to post a little bouquet of autumn wildflowers from the forest preserve walk. Stop and smell the roses, ladies.

I agree, thanks for the positive energy.

cdv, my DH is in the same boat. He does all the financial and he could figure out why one line on the budget was low. He called corporate and they said B/c there will be less employees. Corporate is in another country where it is almost impossible to fire anyone, so they get rid of people here. It's hard to look for something new when you are just treading water. He has been keeping our family on an even keel this last year with all my problems/cancers. He deserves the same kind of support I received!

Was raking for a while, I'll go rake again. Until dark.

Here's a funny hair story: I was teaching 7th grade and had done all my cancer 'stuff' in the winter/spring/summer of the previous year, so the next fall my new students didn't know about my medical saga and had only seen me in my (cute) wig (which you couldn't tell was a wig at all). I was going to wait until after Christmas to reveal my real hair (which was very short and very pin-curly) but couldn't stand it any more once December hit. One morning, I said 'What the hell!" and came to school with my wild hairdo. One of the girls, who was quite the fashionista, took one look at me and asked, "WHAT did you do to your hair??" I threw up my hands and said, "You do NOT even want to know!" And that was the end of that.......

I went to Reset Yoga earlier and am now going to Bagging the Leaves in the Yard.

Ah, Ruth, no one can tell it like a middle schooler!

Glad to hear that everyone is out and about in this lovely fall weather.

I ran three miles yesterday, and today I planted bulbs and moved some plants around.

Have to run- 4 year old is bugging 15 year old while he's trying to do homework!

Seems like every time I check in here I'm pages and pages behind!

I've been doing body sculpt T/W/Th. Added cardio kick immediately after body sculpt on T/Th about 6 weeks ago and have lost about 5 pounds since then !! Eight months of weight lifting without a budge in the scale but after adding 45 minutes cardio 2-3x a week it's finally starting to move - YAY!!!

Welcome Leesa - you found the right spot.

46 more days of Arimidex and then I'm throwing my own little pill-flushing party! BMX was 11-5-12 and started the estrogen sucking drug 12-7-12.

    Love to all!

sweetandspecial, I was reading up on AI s and I was wondering if you need to taper off them , or can you just stop? Either way, congrats! I have only 4 and a half years to go! LOL

    2FUN, you just stop!

I got 7,000 steps during my bagging of the leaves spree......the mature shade trees we enjoy so much in the summer are having the last laugh of the year now. We raked and bagged 30 enormous black bags full of leaves today & will probably have another 30 once the rest of the leaves fall.

ruth, the reason I asked is I read somewhere that some AI s are "suicidal " and some are not. If I recall "suicidal " means it binds to the aromatase and renders it uselessential or dead. There was some kind of mention of rebound effects with non suicidal AIs. Of course, I can't find the article I was reading.

I cannot believe all those leaves to bag. We have almost 2 acres of woods, so we only rake where we have grass, and then we take multiple trips to dump them in a low lying area on our property. Same amount of leaves, bUT no bagging

Spent the weekend in our planned city-to-move-to-after-hubby retires (I of course have already crossed that threshold) and our exercise consisted mostly of walking through houses and condos for sale. This was supposed to be a "just looking" trip to get a feel for neighborhoods and the housing market generally: but you know how that works, right? We found the perfect place for us and decided to put in an offer! Offer letter signed this am, so if it is accepted we will be in escrow on a new condo the same week I am having knee replacement surgery! Fortunately, we have no immediate plans to sell our current home, so we won't be moving right away. Indeed, first step would be to decide if we want the condo to be a vacation/second home until we both retire (most likely scenario) or if we will rent it out....

But still, we are excited and a little bit dazed. Fingers crossed on the offer, they are asking too much, but hoping they will see the light and come down to our offer or close to it. Lots of good exercise opportunities there (hiking, biking, snowshoeing; condo has a nice pool and gym) and much better air quality to make exercise more appealing than we have here.....Will keep you all posted. Hugs to all!

Today I went to the gym. I decided to sign up for a 21 day challenge. I felt like I needed to move my exercise program to the next level. This is step one. My weight was down another 2 pounds this month. Everything else stayed the same.

cdv: Sounds like your worksite has gone insane! Such craziness.

    TH: Beautiful wildflower bouquet!

Octo: How wonderful that you found your perfect home! Hope your offer is accepted.

Brutersmom: Great idea to sign up for the challenge.

Ruth: Some of our leaves have fallen but the majority have not. The leaves have barely changed color.

Sweet: Congratulations on your 5 pound loss!

Badger: Always like looking at your chart.

Hi All! It's been a rainy day here so I decided to paint. My sister cut a tree in her yard this summer and wanted me to paint Old Father Christmas on logs her dh cut. She wanted the Blue Old Father Christmas.
