hi to everyone !
-
Hi!
I didn't pick up peach yarn. It sounds so pretty. I'm up to 14 squares. Some days I'll do 3 and other times I don't do any. I used to crochet all the time. Its hard getting back into it. I can't wait to get enough made to send out my first package.
-
Good Morning One and All,
I am mailing an afghan today. I have been having back problems that prevent me from sitting for long periods of time due to nerve pain. I should be receiving a TENS Unit to help with the nerve pain by the end of the week.
Thank you all for the squares.
Hugs,
Madison
-
Madison, hope the TENS Unit works for you. Can I mail some squares to you? I have done a bunch of different colors. hugs everyone
-
Spar, yes indeed you can mail me squares!
-
Hey where did my post go? I did one the other day. Grrrrrrr
jenni...Thank You! I hid my special treat so no one else would get it.
I'm working on an afghan for your friend. Will get it done asap. This new job/hours gets me but I am able to border squares at work if we're not busy. That hasn't happened for a week though. We have been full. So sad to see a CCU unit full.
Hello to everyone old & new. I can't thank each of you enough for helping us. Madison and I love this project!
Thank you Madison for all your hard work. You are my rock!
Love you guys!
-
I have 24 squares done. I want to finish up my yarn before I send them out.
-
Madison - Hope your back is better soon.
Liz - I will be sending a box this week.
-
Oh...I forgot - here's a great link to some adorable crochet and knitted items:
-
Madison, hope your feeling better. I did get a box of squares that I knitted mailed to you. Hope they will work. If they are not right let me know what I did wrong and will try to do more. hugs everyone. love you all.
-
liz - glad the box got there ok and that you get to enjoy the surprise (ok maybe not a surprise per se .... lol )
madison sorry your back is hurting !
all my flurry of 'given your history & mammo results' turned out to be much ado about nothing ... whoohooo !!!!
hi to everyone !

Hello, everyone,
I would love to make squares. Could someone give me a quick recap, or point to the page where I can look to get the basic info I need? Are there any photos of completed afghans to give me an idea? Are the squares knit or crochet, or does it matter? Are lots of people contributing to the same afghan? what do we do on the borders, and do we have color schemes? Is someone putting them together? What weight yarn? How large are the afghans? Is there a list of people these will be sent to? I know, LOTS of questions!
I think it's a terrific idea and would love to help!

hi LWD - if you go back a couple of pages on this thread there are some photographs .. lovely hugs ...
-
Lane, the squares are either knit or crochet, any color, any pattern you like to make and any weight yarn as long as it finishes 7x9 inch square. The squares are sent to Madison or Liz to assemble (either bordered or un-bordered). The borders are done in black with a double crochet but I can't remember if it is one row or two (I send mine not bordered). After the squares are bordered they are assembled with 42 random squares so there are plenty of hugs from many women in each afghan. The recipients names and addresses are sent to Liz and Madison and they will send the finished afghans to the people. If I haven't answered all your questions, send a pm to Liz or Madison and they can fill in the details that I have missed.
Sheila
one quick add on, AC Moore has 2 lb yarn mill unlabeled yarn for 5.99 a bag but if you get one of the half price coupons you can get it for 3.00. My local store had some pretty variegated yarns yesterday. The only thing is all 2 lbs are the same color. you get kind of tired of working with that much yarn of the same color.
-
Jenni and Sheila,
Thank you so much! I did find the photos, and the afghans are lovely. I will take advantage of the pre-Christmas sales on yarn and try to get started right away. I have PM'd Madison, also.
This is a wonderful thing to do. I feel so helpless sometimes trying to offer support and love. I hope doing this will help fill the void and, hopefully, bring comfort to someone. Do you know how many are on the list to receive? Just wondering if there is a great need for squares at this point. Madison should be able to tell me.
Love to all you lovely ladies out there! And have a wonderful Thanksgiving,
Lane
-
welcome lane ! it is wonderful to have more crocheters/knitters to add variety to the hugs
the gang has sent over 100 hugs out - but i'm sure that landmark was passed quite some time ago - and yes if you read the thank you's from the people who have gotten a hugaghan they really are appreciated -
p.s. the yarn should be machine washable and machine dryable ...
-
Liz - I sent a box of bordered squares to you yesterday.
Lane - I think the yarn should be medium weight, acrylic. And if you do crochet a black border, It's double crochet - one row. You'll love this project...it's addicting. lol
-
I've knitted 3 squares and having fun with it. Will really get busy on them after TG.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Lane
-

Liz,
Do you need squares right away, like in the next couple of weeks? I have only 3 done, but can start working again today. If you need them soon, I can send maybe 10 in the next few days. Please let me know. Otherwise I will wait until I have 20.
Lane

I have to check the measurements in the ones I made. I could send them out in a day or two if someone can PM their address.

purple - i just got a stack of squares from mari - she indicated there might be a couple in there that aren't 7x9 - i'll check and if there are some odd ones i'll send them along to you ... she does lovely patterns but every once in a while one of them grows (or shrinks or ... lol ) i think i sent you all of mine that were 'odd' already
hugs to those 'on the hill'

I will be sending my box out either today or tomorrow. I am so excited! I can't wait to be a part of this. This post answered my PM I just sent. I am so easily confused!
Dec. 9th....
I stopped in the post office and sent the box out today. I'm also wired up witht he heart monitor. I had to laugh when I walk into the post office like this. I felt like I had a bomb tied to me. It's a ggod thing they don't have a metal detector there. I would have been in trouble!
