THE WAY WE WERE......LOOKING BACK IS FUN

Nope, FireKracker, it was a girl thing! We all tried (unsuccessfully) to make them just a 'little' more attractive any way we could - and soon found out that was impossible!
-
Bobby Sherman was cuter than David Cassidy.
-
Maybe - but he wasn't cuter than Michael Landon!!
-
If a junior high boy caught you unaware he could unsnap the whole gym suit with one good yank and embarrass you in front of everyone.
-
I agree. I never outgrew him.
-
He had such kind eyes!
-
Michael Landon was mine...period.
-
LOL Melissa. My PE clothes were two piece. White shirt with blue shorts.
-
Rock, Paper, Scizzors?
-
Clove cigarettes, for the rest of you old hippy gals:)
-
One of my other favourite things.
Oddly, I never used it for dolls. I always put a bonnet on my guinea pig, wrapped him in a baby blanket, and walked him around the block. Gawd, I loved my guinea pig. Then he gave me ringworm and my mom sent him to "live out his golden years on a farm". -
Baby Tippy Toes
-
Leggo......was he one of these on the farm.....
-
Bawhaha! Yes, third from the left.
-
I don't know Baby Tippy Toes or Clove cigs....but, I did have a baby buggy. I can imagine that anyone that looked into that buggy got a shock!!
My brother had me convinced that he really did have an invisible dog. I was very gullible.
-
I can remember seeing those leashes at Six Flags for the first time & how badly I wanted one.
-
One, Little Joe had bad luck! All his women died on that show. Until he went to live on the prairie, he had no one!
Two, no one caught those lovely sanitary pads and belts that were posted earlier! I hated them but my mom said NO to tampons since I was a virgin and that would ruin that! Running to the bus at the end of the day one of those stupid pads fell out of my pants and hit the ground. I was fast. Stooped right down on top of it, scooped it up in my skirt and sat with it all the way home. I had not put it back into that little metal clip.
Last, those darn gym suits were a curse to many. But, I didn't think anyone would remember having to stitch your name on it! I was so skinny then that I had toothpicks for legs so that suit was real flattering on me!
I just jumped on here tonight from the Bonfire thread...had to see how it was going and have looked at every one so far. How fun! Now, I just have to find a picture of my favorite toy I got one Christmas, a spinning wheel... oh yeah, I loved those jeans!
-
are we on TV shows yet? loved this one! tutty!
-
I was on Romper Room. I have a picture somewhere...
-
My mom wouldn't let me have any of these for the longest time, because they were too "revealing". When she finally gave in, I couldn't have Dolphins, I had to get Doves, because they were cheaper.
-
Mema..........welcome..........LOL.........I have a visual of you grabbing your sanitary pad, and still making the bus....LOL
Yes I did have to sew my name on the damn gym suit........I could not sew.....when my home-ec teacher saw my masterpiece she said "you expect me to give you a passing grade for that"..........what I did was make huge stitches 3 times the size of basting stitches, across the front......it took about 28 huge stitches to do my name........LOL....no small and petite......huge block letters.....
Roz....Jump around honey.......anything, anytime we're not looking for perfect......just fun....whatever comes to your pretty little head.........hugs
Oh Crog......find that picture..................
-
This was our shorts in the 50's.....we could not get them tight enough or high enough....LOL
-
Mama, As for the sanitary pads, I was always glad my mama was a doctor's kid. I started when I was ten and a few months later I said that I WAS doing tampons because I WAS going swimming. No problem, we bought them & I figured it out.
-
roller blades hahahaha
-
Crog! You lucky girl. How does one get on Romper Room?
Those roller skates bring back some memories. We used to skate on the loading dock (it was our "stage") at Safeway. I fell off and dislocated my knee cap and broke my arm.
Those skates just kind of dangled from my ankles on my busted body.
-
Wow Crog!! You've really got to share that picture!!
mema - OMG, that is soooo funny! I have a few sanitary pad stories....think I'll save them for a rainy day!!
Maureen, those skates were dangerous. Mine almost always feel off while skating.
Ducky, I thought they were a little more modest in the 50's.....wow - those are really short!!
Monis, I saved my money and bought one pair of Dolphin shorts. I wore them thread bare I loved them so much. They were light blue.
rozem, my daughter and I used to love to watch the Facts of Life!!
-
Here it is! My favorite Christmas toy ever! I was in the 4th grade.
-
leggo, I just read the part about you breaking your arm and knee cap. OUCH!!
I dislocated my shoulder by falling off of my skateboard. I was going down a hill and hit a rock. It pops out of joint occasionally and hurts like hell to get it back in. When I did radiation, I had to do it with my right arm down so it wouldn't pop out. Oh the joys of childhood injuries!!!
mema, I don't even know what that is????
-
Slow........modest .........hell no.........we did things back then that was considered shameful...only unlike today no one ever told........today its a lifestyle........won't say what.........LOL ......trust me....I owned those shorts......I will try to find a picture......
Mem....trying to picture you at your spinning wheel..........LOL
How about this.........we had one of these .....lol.........and it spun around on a stand that played Silent Night
-
We never had a silver tree. Here is our tree. Yes, that is me.....no cracks about my attire please. LOL
I don't even remember those toys!
