My kids rode the Whip on the truck for 10 cents, and when you got off they gave you a piece of Lollipop

LOL, we were talking about garter belts and flushing poop out of diapers, all at the same time!  Good thing no one new popped in now!  I loved helping my mom keep those seams straight and yeah, I had to help her with that darn girdle. I have to admit I have had a few myself.

yes Ducky I used to play marbles.  Was going through some of my mothers sewing stuff and came across a marble.  Not sure what it was doing I. With her sewing things...  Seeing the marble brought back memories of days gone by...

Did you ever play with these?

    There are two sets here.

OK back to washing nappies (diapers) We removed any matter into the toilet and then placed them in a large lidded bucket which had water and 'napisan' a sanitiser/cleaner in it and soaked them then they were washed in hot water and hung out to dry. We didn't get disposables here until about the time my son was a baby  and there was a real feeling against them.

Now that sounds a little better than washing them in the toilet.

I'm not sure what that is Alyson. The silver ones look like old dental fillings.

They are knuckle bones a game very like Jacks and as their name suggests children originally used  sheep knuckle bones. It is great fun really.

    What about hula hoops.

My pride and joy as a 6yr old, Elizabeth my walkie talkie doll. I was quite surprised when I managed to get her to stand just now.

She is not in her original dress but I do have it.

I  realise now that my patents must have really struggled to buy this for me.

That is funny about the diaper thing.  That could not have been pleasant! If I would have had to rinse them, I doubt I'd have been able. By my time, some smart folks had invented the diaper liner. Take the mess and the liner and flush...easy peasy. The diaper pail had blue pucks that you added water to as a pre-soak, I think it was called Diaper Pure or some such thing, so no pee stink either. The only hard part was the washing, boiling, hanging.....and the washing, boiling, hanging.....

Funny thing, I kept all 50 of them and my boys used every single one of them to polish their cars!

I get giggly when I see the dolly pictures because dolls always kinda creeped me out and still do to this day. It started waaayy back with my first doll that looked far to real, cried and moved it's baby arms up and down. Scared the crap out of me. They all look like Chucky's sister to me now. Oh well, with some people it's clowns....with me it's dolls.

    Remember this stuff?

Hours of fun for 75 cents.

We always managed to fit five. Three on the seat, one on the crotch bar and one on the handlebars. HA! Bike-pooling.

Ducky I remember people telling me about having coal delivered..  Ha ha ha. Actually my husband and I at our first house decided to put a coal stove in and they deliver the coal to the house.  I was not there to see how it was delivered but assume it would have been somewhat they way your picture shows...

Grandpa had coal delivered. You would wake up freezing until he stoked the furnace then you could wear shorts! The first house we bought had a little room in the basement for the coal.

Let me tell you about those jacks...I loved playing with them. My sister and I was always fighting over them because she would lose one of hers and being the oldest and meanest, she'd try to steal one of mine. I put one of those things in my mouth to hide it from her and she punched me making me swallow it! While I was choking she was laughing her butt off and my parents where running around trying grabbing clothes and running bathwater because they didn't want to take their child to the hospital dirty!  My grandmother was trying to make me eat peanut butter and bread, while mom was bathing me, in the hopes it would move on down my esophagus. My mom was a nurse and was hysterical. My sister was walking like Frankenstein and still laughing. My dad had fainted while getting his shoes on. So, it was just mom and me to the hospital where I promptly threw it up when I learned they were going to cut it out of my throat!  I think the doctor and my mom made that up. Gave all my jacks to my stupid sister.
