Hi hermits- back from the 6 month mammo and ultrasound. The only change they see are some small calcifications around the surgical/rad areas she believes are oily cysts/fat necrosis. Very common after the type of radiation I had, and I was told these would maybe show up months or years later if they did. She wants to do an MRI to double check things (this would rule out anything greater like a blood supply flowing to that area, suggesting the calcifications are not necrosis but something else). I will do that on 3/14. So the check up goes on but by mid to late March, I should know more from that as well as anything from the recent genetics tests to see how I am doing (or anything else we need to be thinking about). Staying positive, but the whole process is stressful as you all know.
My cold is continuing to work its way through my system. I went to work a half day yesterday, but still have a lot of congestion, puffy face/pink nose and a bit of a cough. Got some good nigh time cold medicine that is helping me to sleep. I am back home today post imaging center and will lay low this weekend. We expect major rain here tomorrow with the storm coming from the west coast. The storm called Titan is a soaker and hopefully will bring us some good rain and snow, which we need. It may be going east to bring more snow to the midwest and east coast, which no one wants.
I bought a ticket to a fundraiser for one of the local jazz groups here tonight, but wont' be going. It was a Mardi Gras type event at the local art museum, and since I cannot go, I sent it over to the director for a donation and said maybe someone else she knows can use it. The ticket was $50 and a lot of people cannot afford that these days, so hopefully someone else will get to enjoy it. In any event, the org will benefit from the contribution.
Been as stressful week with the cold and bc follow up stuff. Looking forward to better days! Hope everyone else is doing okay here?
-
Jazzy That was so nice of u to return the ticket for someone else. That cold better leave u--it's starting to last to long. I'm glad u'r getting another test, but try not to stress cuz it's just a safety precaution.
Cute pics Ducky---and BTW our snow is supposed to start tonite and then tomorrow again and maybe into Sunday or all day Sat or another round whatever of snow. All I know we could get any amount of inches and then turn cold maybe.
Blondie I've missed 3 Onc. app'ts this month cuz of the weather it's been so bad. This is the only Dr. I have that doesn't have an office at the hospital which is like 4 miles from here, this is further with open streets so if it's windy the streets are really bad and icy. I'm sure I'll have a couple of tests to do, but she likes to see me before ordering them to see if I need a "special test" cuz I'm special--yea right. So I told them I'm not making any more app'ts till the weather is more stable--which wasn't well received but understood- it's brutal to even walk now. I would think this weather will start improving in a couple of weeks--we all hope and then I can get this behind me. I have some new problems but I'm really not concerned so whatever.
-
Jazzy, hope that the week end will give you time to rest and that the rest will send your cold down the road. I can imagine the stress that your check up has brought and am sorry that you have another test in March.
Those of you catching yet another unwanted storm stay warm and safe. Spring has to come sometime.
We are getting some much needed rain here although not enough. Wouldn't it be wonderful if technology could be developed to spread the precipitation around to where it is needed?
-
Hermits- got a great update this afternoon. Apparently the radiologist and breast surgeon discussed my results today after my visit, and conferred I really don't need the MRI at this time. So I am done with the 6 month check up (except for that pending blood test). No more tests and I am on my way forward.
Whew, hopefully that news will help me to get better faster! One major stressor gone.....

-
Jazzy, thanks for sharing your good news.
-
-
Ducky- good to have you back here with us. I am with you, there are so many things I just don't give a %$&*$ about anymore. Life has a way of teaching you what is most important.
Cami- I hope you can get to see your MO soon. Too many missed appointments but what can do you do with all that weather you have had to deal with?
Sally- my sister in CA says they are getting lots of rain and high winds. Hope to see some of that rain here by tomorrow, we really need it like most everyone here in the west. Our Midwest and east coast friends have been hogging the moisture this winter (someone is going to cyber punch me for that comment....)
-
Well Jazzy yes someone will punch u--but so happy about u'r results that that punch will e delayed.... for now.

OncoW- it's called Vicks Nature Fusion Cold and Flu Night time Relief. It's a syrup and honey flavored. No alcohol, which was a plus to me (I am saving my alcohol for the real drinks!)
I have been a big fan of Theraflu in the past, but did not see any in the store when I went to buy the cold supplies this week. So I decided to try this and sleeping pretty well with it. I also got some daytime cold pills from the same brand, did not find them to be as effective as the nighttime product. Not being able to sleep with a cold is one of the worst parts of it to me. I plan to get a lot of rest this week. Time for jazzy to slow down......
Thanks for all the good wishes here today. It means a lot to have you hear to listen to no matter what is going on with me!
