~*~*~*~ HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAKE ~*~*~*~
-
okay, I'm afraid to weigh myself. I see my onc. on 11/13 and will let them weigh me - and see where I am compared to my last visit in June.
I have been dragging my feet starting this, so today it is! I am now going to log off, and get on our treadmill (husband ran 4 miles on it today......)
Happy birthday cake!!!!!!
April
-
Did 1/2 hour on the eliptical machine today (and yesterday). The beginning was hard!
I was sore from the day before, and I had to force myself to complete the 30min. I hope in a couple of weeks I can increase my time.No pian no gain right...lol
-
Hi, guys! Thanks so much for the birthday wishes! I am now 38 years old! I can say I made it to 38. Only 50 more years to go... (Well, that's my birthday wish anyway!)
So I went in for a plastic surgeon appt...I'm doing the DIEP recon (was already treated with lump + rads, but I want to do preventative since I had so much DCIS). I have to lose 20 pounds by February 17. He said not to lose more to make sure we have enough fat, but I can lose more later if I want. I'd like to lose 30 pounds! I'd still have 40 to go for goodness sake...but maybe I'll lose 10 lbs just for getting rid of the boobies, LOL, right?
Oh, and even if anyone hasnt lost weight yet, you're still a success because you're trying every day, so kudos to us all!
-
JO--that is so beautiful! I want to see my baby turn 41. I hope I get to!
-
No Cake, not "hope" but claiming it - you will get there!!!! Happy belated birthday, or maybe I'll just give you another so I'll be early for next year.
Signing off in a few and going upstairs and walking while watching Judge Judy. Boy, I should be in her court then I'll be running (she's tough!)
Did do stretching exercises with my local BC support group this evening. Won't weigh until Saturday though - once per week is enough.
-
A wonderful free website that helps with weight loss and other goals is sparkpeople.com. It's free!
I gained weight during chemo, but am now back to tracking at SparkPeople. Losing weight is a challenge for me since I am just 4' 9" tall. I find that the best way to deal with nighttime snacking is to set a firm cutoff time for eating. Making that decision in advance helps. For me, that is 9:00 p.m., or at least two hours before bedtime.
-
Hi, Patoo! You're right! Let's all get there!
LOL--I hop on my step sometimes and watch Judge Judy...she is such a trip!
Janet--thanks for those great suggestions!
I'm feeling very bloated and have the PMS cravings...this is my first month on Tamoxifen so I'm wondering if I'll "get it" or not. Grouchy and wanting yummies, so probably. I wonder if that means I'm not matabolizing the Tamox?
Oh...did the wii fit plus today too...it was fun!
-
So.......it is my daughters 4th Birthday tomorrow. I have been prepping all day, so im not psycho busy tomorrow. Kids are having kid stuff: hotdogs, fruit platter.
For the adults my husband wanted to do "pub style" food. <sigh> My favorite, so we are doing hot wings and seasoned chicken wings, hot spinach/artichoke cheese dip served with tortilla chips, and potatoe skins with bacon/onion and cheddar baked on top. Fruit platter. AND......the big one....Taramisiu cake.
I have no idea how Im going to make it. I made the dip with 95% fat free cream cheese and sour cream.Spinach and artichoke hearts are nothing....its the parmaesan cheese thats the worry. I love hosting people, but I have a feeling tomorrow will be torture.
I have done well all week.Gone to the gym everyday and ate well. I guess we will see how the will power holds up..Grrrr....
-
Now Lexis, did you have to go and spell it all out in detail and make us all salivate - not nice, not nice. See, left the 'love' out of your name just for that!!
Happy birthday little 4 year old. What a great age!
Enjoy the party and think about us as you go toward cheese dip and then continue on to the fruit platter. You'll be fine - just hop back on schedule the next day.
-
LOL!!!!!
Ive been salvating all day!!!! One thing that I didnt do, but I normally would have?.....was graze along while I was preparing. Ah ha! I just kept to my crystal lite and mandarine orange.
Yes, I plan on hitting the gym a little more tomorrow night and Saturday we have a very full day with Halloween and running around. Nov 1...back on schedule.
-
Hey, Lexislove...sounds like you've done a lot of great things this week...exercising, not picking, etc. You go girl!
I have to say I have been really struggling this week. I feel like I'm going to get my period, and this is the first month I am on the Tamoxifen, so I'm wondering if the drug is not working. Havent gotten it yet, but I'm EATING like I'm going to get it! Ugh...cant I get a break here?!
-
Thanks cake! I think I'm off to a good start, just have to keep motivated. My schedule is free now. I just had my 3 month onc visit, my mammogram, physical. Its been a busy month, but after Saturday....FREE to really pick up the weight loss stuff.
I havent had my period in almost 2 yrs...but I always had PMS cravings always!!! It use to be mostly A&W Teen Burgers...lol.
Why couldnt it be water..
-
Ok....I survived the Birthday Party. Had 8 hot wings and a medium baked potatoe(plain). Fruit...
Had a piece of cake and thats it.Stuck with my Coke Zero. For dinner I had some tomatoe soup. Im pretty exhausted from all the running around and hosting people, I was planning on going to the gym tonight.....but Im backing out. Feeling a little guilty, but my eyes are hald asleep.
-
Awesome, LL! I'm giving you lots of pats on the shoulder! The running around you did was your gym time, yes?
Hey, I lost a pound this week! So 3 total in 3 weeks! I'll take it
-
Cake,
Great news on the 3 lbs! Its good to know your doin things right. Yes, the running around is a workout in some way, but no sweating...lol.
Tomorrow will be a busy day. I was planning on weighing myself every 2 weeks? I use to weigh myself everyday, but I think it just discouraged me when I didnt see the scale shrinking. Ill use my clothes to help let me know my success as well.
-
I was in the process of building healthy eating habits, using SparkPeople to help when I got my diagnosis in May, stopped the daily tracking of meals and habits. I've resumed now and am actually enjoying getting back to tracking. I gained about eight pounds during treatment. I haven't read every post in this thread, so don't know if anyone has mentioned SparkPeople. Let me suggest those who are working on weight loss check it out. It's a wonderful site for weight loss and goals-setting and tracking (not just for weight loss). And it's FREE! Check it out! sparkpeople.com

I was doing Ok, but last night went crazy wanting something sweet...found some cinnamon bagels in the freezer and had two of those, then was eating cereal and finally after much digging in the freezer found some fudgecicles and had two of those! Woe is me. . Honey crisp apples are great, but I just was not in the mood for fruit or anything good for me. On the upside I have been having a terrible time with diarrhea and figure whatever I ate is just moving on thru anyway. When I got weighed yesterday (went to theGP for the metioned problem) I had not lost any weight, but had not gained either and I am able to wear a pair of jeans I could not zip last month....they aren't exactly comfortable, but I didn't have to fight the zipper. It sounds as if most of you are doing really well and sticking to it and exercising even. Never heard of Sparkpeople.
Sorry I missed your birthday, Cake. That makes me smile the way those words fit together. I t sounds as if you behaved yourself and deserve a verse of She's a jolly good fellow.
-
Well, I said I'd weigh in on Monday, but I didn't because I knew it wouldn't be good. That darn Halloween Candy. The rest of the week wasn't much better. But now I'm going to the gym (first time in 10 years! - has it really been that long?). Here's to a better week.
-
I am game. I have lost 40 lbs still have 60 to go,since having completed treatment. I can offer some helpful hints. Exercise is the best way. I know it is hard to get started. I started small ( walked 4 blocks) gradually added extra blocks each week. I finished the 1/2 marathron 2 weeks ago and it felt wonderful. I am not a skinny woman but I work at it 3-5 days per week. Start small and touch base with the group. we can encourage each other everyday. Make this a time on your schedule(me time). It will make you happy as you walk further and lose weight and grow stronger. anne
-
wow, anne! That's amazing!
I did my wii fit plus...goal is 30 minutes a day.
rinna--I had a yummy snickers bar today! put me over my calories for today, about 100 cals...oops
-
Wow I admire all of you. I am trying to get started on a program to lose, still have lots of joint pain from the Femara I am on. It is wonderful to hear all the energy out there. Thanks for the tips.
-
I found that the joint pain from AI did not change whether I walk or not and sometimes after I get warmed up the leg pain gets better. I started OUt with so much leg pain I could hardly make it to the corner. I kept walking and started accupuncture which helped alot. Start small and make it a habit. You will see the benefits quickly.
-
Lost a half of a pound this week, yahoo! Would have liked to lose 2 lbs but I'll take it. Considering all the CANDY I ate this week, I think that's pretty good. And most of all each week I'm getting a little better at eating healthy and exercise.
How is everyone else doing?
-
Well cake....the leftover birthday cake, I think did me in...lol.
I weighed myself the otherday, and no change. 1 week ago was my daughters birthday and i snuck some extra cake in during the week...<sigh>
Im back on track now. Went to the gym the last 2 days, took today off, tomorrow I go again.
When I first started on the eliptical machine, 30 min was pure torture! Now, it goes by relativly quickly and is easier. I really...hate...hate my scale.
But, I "feel" a tad lighter. Im not as sluggish as 3 weeks ago.I have put a pair of pants aside to help with guide me with my weightloss. Ill try on the pants every 3 weeks and see how they "feel".
Right now is the hardest part of the day...I had some vegetarian chili for dinner and a whole weat pita. I know by 9pm my stomach will be growling again. And , thats the problem, if I go to bed hungry I cant sleep...the last 2 weeks I have been having maybe 5 hours of sleep a night. It should be more.
-
... I guess I missed this page... I did 64 minutes of cardio today with an exercise dvd... My goal is to do:
Cardio: 60 mins at least 5 days a week
Strength traing: 2 - 3x's per week
Pilates/strecthing: at least 1X per week
NUTRITION:
Following Tosco Reno - Eating Clean Diet and carb/calorie cycling with Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle (Tom Venuto)... I want to incorporate the raw food diet into my plan, but I am still learning about it.
Free meals: maybe 1 free meal on Saturday if I follow my plan to the letter during the week.
Lexislove: If you want a late night snack concentrate on a carb and a protein, like
- 1/2 cup of 1 or 2% cottage cheese and 1/2 cup of fruit
- protein shake (Designer Whey) 100 cal, 2 fat, 17 protein (Vanilla and Strawberry are good)
- sugar-free flavored yogurt w/a 1/2 scoop of protein powder mixed in
- boiled egg whites (...maybe 2 or 3) filled with hummus
If you can try to eat this at least 1 - 2 hours before bedtime and you should be ok until the morning... make sure that you are drinking at least 6 - 8, 8 oz cups of water a day...
Anne26: congrats on the weight loss... what an inspiration... I have 40 pounds to lose and it just seems to hard to do... Keep up the good work!...
Cake~: congrats on your loss... that is an accomplishment, small ones count too... they all add up~
...tomorrow my goal is to do AM cardio and PM strength training ... nothing too strenuous...
-
... did cardio today... 53 minutes... kickboxing... feels good to workout, but it's tough getting back into the swing again after the break I took... I really want to succeed this time...
-
did some stretching at local support group tonight but they also had "bad" food which I ate so expect to see the scale up t'm morning. Maybe I'll just skip getting on since I only count Saturday's weight. We fall, we get back up, dust off and start again.
-
Well, I went to the gym three times last week, and I'll be able to do four times this week. Really working on low fat meals with portion control, but alas, no weight has come off. I need some positive feed back, as I'm working hard at this. (oops - there was the moment of weakness and the Doritos). I'm hoping my weigh in on Monday will bring good results.
-
I had a delicious buttery fattening piece of chicken (no hormones, of course! what a rip!) with mashed potatoes and peas. So delightful! I am still losing weight shockingly, although weighing myself this Saturday may pose a problem heh heh
