Ok....so it was my friends 30th B Day celebration last night. Dinner, wine and the big one, cake...
Yup, cake. Taramisiu....I had a piece...loved it...had another. I officially start my diet AND exercise tomorrow! LOL.
Damn cake. If I wasn't drinking wine, my judgment would have been better and I would have said no to the cake...oh well.

OK everyone, tomorrow is almost here. I'm gearing up and trying to get ready to start diet and excercise. HELP!!! The mindset is the hardest thing to just getting started. I will let you know how it goes tomorrow. Please, wish me luck!!

I had a nice weekend, but bad for food! Back to square one tomorrow!

On a positive note, my husband and I bought a Wii today. We bowled and boxed today! Good exercise.

I'm hungry....................<sigh>

Greeting Ladies,
Well Charlie and I did it today!!! We went for our walk. I am actually setting a goal for myself, 10,000 steps a day. It's from a handout book that I received at the school that I work at. Since I'm tall, with long legs, 10,000 steps for me is just over 6.5 miles a day. The walk Charlie & I took was about 7,000 steps, which when I look it up in my little book, it was just under 4 miles. If anyone would like copies of this little book, the nurse gave me a whole bunch of copies, I would be happy to mail them out. Just PM me.
I also am very proud of myself on not cheating on the food today. Sweets are such a downfall for me. I managed to drink almost all of my water (I hate drinking water) but I did consume a half of a pot of de-cafe tea, so I think that should count for something.
As for exercising, last night I managed to do about 100 sit-ups and worked on the exercises that my PT gave me for under my left arm. So tomorrow is another day, I hope I can get out of bed:)
Good Luck to everyone.

Ok ladies I would like to join, I have a BUNCH of weight to lose, more than all ya! Wish it was easier for me but alas it is NOT! I am a Ex-WW, couldn't do it again and have done just about any diet know to man or beast! Sick of low CARBS too! My Onc suggested just cutting the amount I eat in half which sounded easy but...... So I am still trying that but I am very good at fooling myself so I am using software I have had a while to calculate calories, water and exercise! Trying to keep my intake at between 1300 to 150.
Sharon67 I would love a copy of your little book, if you have some left and I will contact you via PM
I have been walking with "THE HUBS" at night, about 1 mile. I live in the Foothills so walking uphill is a bit of a challenge with my joints. I am also on an AI (aromasin) so I wonder if that makes it more difficult.

Portion control is my problem. BIG problem.
I have decided instead of using a standard dinner plate to eat my food, Im going to use the smaller bread/butter plate. I'll fill it up, when Im done thats it...no seconds.
I also have to get this "wasting food" out of my head. When I was growing up my brother and I had to finish our plates because my mom said it was wasting food and money. That has stuck with me all growing up and into adult hood. I have to tell myself, its ok to leave food on the plate if I'm full, I don't need to clean it.
-
okay - gonna start tomorrow - I swear! I finished radiation on Friday and I am very burned, but have a power walk planned with a friend. Lexislove - I like your low carb (not no carb) approach.
I love the biggest loser, however - I watch eat and eat ice cream...not the best habit. Don't think Jillian or Bob would approve. I a planning on following the Bob Greene "Best Life" diet and watching carbs.
Hope everyone has a great evening and Monday!

Sharon, I would love a copy of the book. I will be in the states in three weeks for a short visit. Could you send it to Kathy Ward at P.O. Box 250246, Little Rock, AR 72225. Thanks so much and God Bless, Kathy

Sharon, My burns did not really kick in untill the last few days. The boosts are in a different area from the burns, so hopefully it won't blister. Have the tech take a look at it tomorrow. Kathy

Thank you everyone. Reading your posts has inspired to go to bed instead of eating chocolate chips. Good night.

Congratulations to all who were able to stay on track!! (not me... sigh) Today is the beginning of another week and a great day to get on track again! Good Luck to everyone!

OK!!! So far, so good. I just went to my local park and walked the mile trail and I must say I feel really good. I did not go fast, just a normal walk...the main objective being to get to the end!! I think it is pretty good for my first day. For breakfast I had a protein smoothie and now I will fix a big salad for lunch. One step at a time....good luck to all and happy walking!!

I really need to take off about 15 lbs, but would be happy with 10. I know this doesn't sound like much, but I am only 5' 11/2" ( somewhere along the line I lost 1 1/2in because I was always 5'3") so just a few lbs make a lot of difference and the main thing I have noticed lately is that my shape has actually changed. I used to carry all excess lbs in my legs, but now I have a gut. And what used to be muscle is now flab. My onco once told me estrogen helps hold your fat cells together and I believe it. My weight didn't change when I was doing chemo which you would have thought it would since I lost my sense of taste, but it did not keep me from eating. However, now that my taste has come back I have gone crazy with food. I was eating a double pack of Reese cups every day and also went on a fast food kick. I was eating Whoppers, Double Stacks with cheese, Poppey's Po'Boys, you name it.....knew it was bad for me, but was just loving the fact I could taste these things again. Now it is showing up and I can't wear some of my clothes and am having a tough time zipping pants, and know it is time for the party to end. Last week, I started watching what I ate and had oatmeal for breakfast, fruit for a sweet fix, chicken and fish instead of beef and was eating green veggies instead of mac and cheese or potatoes......well, so far not a single ounce off. I love to eat and hate to exercise so that is a bad combo. My goal is going to be to get into this black velvet dress I have which is fitted and shows buldges and I want it to fit the way it should when I have a big holiday party planned in early Jan....am doing it as Celebrating another year party and it's also going to be for my 60th birthday, but I don't want to do it around Xmas since everyone has too much stuff going on then. I know how to lose weight and have done it before and once I get started I really get into it and can come up with some creative tasty low cal meal, but it's getting started that is hard. I would not tell my best friend this or my husband, but as of today I weigh 141 lbs. Weight Watchers has always worked best for me, but I am going to try on my own....or I should say with you ladies.

Greetings Ladies,
Well it was another good day with my little book routine:) Today, after work, instead of taking Charlie, who is the 85lb Golden Lab, I took Rylie, who is the little, fat, puggle. For those of you who don't know what a Puggle is, don't feel bad, neither did I! He's a mix between a Pug & a beagle. He's so ugly that he's cute. Anyways, Charlie is 7 and is having alittle bit of stiff joints, so I gave him a rest. I thought it would be a slower walk with a smaller dog.....WRONG! For a little S--T he's faster than the lab! He actually cut my time by 10 minutes. Now my fanny is killing me. I guess that's a good thing. DH thought it was gonna be good for him and suggested a fanny rub.....yea, right.....I told him, "good try" but not tonight Doc, I have a date with the computer. I have to keep up with my "new ladies". This group is great
Today I am happy to say I walked 11,375 steps. My DH & kids just laugh when I get soooo excited to write it in my book.
Susie & Kathy, I received your PM's and I'll put those books in the mail tomorrow morning. If anyone else would like one, just PM me. The nurse at our school (who's a bitch anyways) gave me a dirty look the other day, when I took her whole stack. I just smiled and said "Hey, it's breast cancer awareness month, give me a break!!!!!" It's not like the 3rd graders are using the stuff" She just rolled her eyes and walked away. I felt like asking her if SHE even read the book, she about a gazillion pounds over weight! But I was sweet, and just took her stash. It's not like she had to pay for them herself.....I tell ya, some people....
Anyways, the other thing I wanted to let you all know is the little ped. monitor I use....It's nothing fancy, it just records my steps. I got it from my DH who is a foot doctor. He get's them all the time for free from the local drug reps. I'll have the girls at his office round some up, so if anyone needs one, I'll send you one.
You all have a great Tuesday...
Sharon

Hi, guys! Did well yesterday...FINALLY! Going for two days in a row...
-
cake,
I use to do step aerobics yearssssss ago. I loved! Now it seems harder to find classes. I don't have the $ to join a gym, I also hate contracts. Do you have the stepping stairs at home?
-
Hi everyone,
Well, it's been a few days since I've posted anything on my progress (or lack of). I lost 3 lbs in my first week of eating healthy but this last week has not been too good as far as food intake goes. Tomorrow is my weight check day, hopefully the 3 I lost will still be lost. I am a walker, partly because I can't afford to join a gym & I don't have one that's convienient. But the main reason I walk is because I like it. Excercise reduces the risk of recurrance, so I think of that when I don't want to go out in the weather. I walk laps around our property. I just finished 2mi and will go out again this evening for at least 2 more mi. I also find that when I take the time for myself, my mood and outlook are better. My biggest challenge is to get back at it after I've goofed up. I have resolved that I won't let a slipup (read: ding dongs and fritos) turn into a full blown 'quit the diet'.

Hi, Lexislove! Yep, I have a step at home...best investment I've made in regards to exercise. I used to do advanced aerobics tapes at home, but then gained all this stinky weight. So now, I've just been pulling out the step and watching tv for a half hour and doing different moves. It's easier so I dont have to think.
Bordering not doing well today...making choco chip cookies for the kiddies!
-
annie,
It sounds like those 3 lbs you lost the first week ...is probably water. Keep up the good work.
-
lexislove,
I am really good at losing water weight, lol. I am still planning to get in that 2 mi after I get more of my math homework that's due done and dinner and help the kids w/their homework.

WooHoo!!! I weighed at the Dr. office today & I have lost 4 lbs!! Ok ok, so it doesn't sound like much, but hey.....it counts!!!
-
annie,
I like to think that I have 50lbs of water to loose. Ha!
-
Congrats Sunris, I have been avoiding the scale!! Will have to get on soon, but I would like to really start excercising, but will try to add that tomorrow... I have been able to eat sensibly for the last few days and it does feel good!
