Let's Post our Daily Exercise
Comments
-
I’m going to join this thread soon, as soon as I finished my radiation then I will join couple classes. Meanwhile I do my daily walk about 1.5 miles up and down hill. Once I finished radiation will try to go back my old path of 2 miles. Now I’m short of time.
Thinking to take a yoga class and a tai chi class. I am hoping they have opening because my hubby is going to join these classes with me.
-
-35, -45! I hope that is not headed our way- It snowed again overnight so 30 minutes shovel and sculpt was my exercise for the day
-
Welcome Paulette! Hope radiation has been easy on you.
Cheryl: I ate 3 S'mores thirty minutes ago. Had to put them up in the cabinet so I wouldn't eat anymore tonight!
Octo: Can't wait to see your Japan pictures.
Pat: Thinking of your dh.
Snickersmom: Hope you get your zip back soon. Sometimes our bodies just want to rest.
Ruth and Runner: BRRRRRR!
Hi All. Walked/ran this afternoon. Snow is supposed to start falling after midnight. School has already been called off. We'll see if it's white outside or not in the morning.
-
Hi Paulette!
-
Balancing on the tightrope between trying to strengthen my body with exercise, and angering some body part so much I can hardly move. But yesterday was a bit better, so Senior Circuit Training then Pilates.
Welcome back, Octo!Looking forward to Japan pics
-
Runnermom- I have been in -45 weather before in Hammer Idaho. The wind smothered me! If I didn't keep my faves covered I could hardly breath. The wind was so strong when we were crossing Wyoming the interstate closed and we spent 18 hours on the side of the road. Bundle up!
Snickermom- this group is were I come for a lift. I finished radiation in June and am just now feeling like my old self. I would feel so down for not exercising and the lovely ladies of this thread made me realize... I will feel better....this to shall pass!
Wonderland - I'm NC to. School closed this morning. We have 3 inches of snow and windchill of 5 and wrecks all over due to the ice. On my way home from OT yesterday afternoon it was 45 and the DOT were pretreating the roads. Now I'm questioning how much it helped and how much money was spent?!?!
I'm in for the day with my girl and #1 grandson. He will be excited for no school but disappointed that' it is way to cold to go outside!
-
Good thing I got my errands done by bike this morning before the blizzard started.
Last night went to salsa where we are finally learning chachacha. I like chachacha as you can catch your breath before the next turn. I have gotten so much better at not getting dizzy but I am still not 20 years old.
Everyone in the cold be careful!
-
Welcome Paulette. Rads does zap your strength so you are doing great if you continue to do 1.5 miles through it. I worked but was in bed by 6:30 every night.
Was away for a few days, surprise birthday party for my 90 yo aunt, last of her generation. Was glad no weather issues as had to fly in/out of Philadelphia PA. Cold here but only at night as daytime temps around 60's. Nights dropping to low 30s - but glad for that after seeing what ruthbru and others having.
badger, mom is fiery and a challenge but happy she is understanding the need for AL. Realize though she may change her mind back and forth until you actually get her into one. She may keep focus if you convince her she will still have most of her independence, just with medical/support staff onsite. That 2nd weekend in Oct is right down your alley. If we do that time may not see you for a few days!
Snickers, have you tried taking your AI at different times. Many found that changing time of day can help with sleep issues.
ruthbru, there may not be much activity in Nashville in October? Usually large groups book very early, many times before they end one year they have booked the following year. That being said, we don't want to chance losing out on availability. Anyone who is considering joining us, realize that you can come for all or a part of the total time. For instance if we book a full week but you only want to do 5 days that is okay. I like the idea of 3 days in the mountains and 4 nights in Nashville. I'm sure less than 4 nights in Nashville won't give us much time to squeeze in everything ruthbru will have planned for us.
-
HaHaHa.......lets do the 4 nights in Nashville & 3 in the mountains. Since those of us from far away will have to get there (and maybe get home again)......some of the first day in Nashville will be spent getting there. Yes, you can come for everything or just Nashville, or just the mountains, or whatever. I imagine we will rent a vehicle to get to the mountains....so once you are there, you are stuck until the group decides to leave
-
Here's the Walking Women in out Vikings garb. I plan on Zumba and yoga tonight.
-
Welcome Paulette!
Heidi- glad you're enjoying the salsa lessons- and glad to know you have a partner who wants to go with you!
Octo- looking forward to seeing your pix!
Everyone sounds like their exercise is holding steady with occasional breaks for the weather and the like
Snow day #2 today. I've watched a lot of Phineas and Ferb. Oh, and Annie! And hosted two tea parties with the little DS.
The roads should be driveable later so I'm going out to yoga class this evening. I've committed to running an Earth Day 5k with my DD who is running the half marathon (someday, maybe?) in Syracuse. Therefore also hitting the treadmill once my bigger DS finishes his workout.
-
I might just go for the days in the mountains. DH wants to get to Nashville, so I'm thinking I will save that and go with him at some point.
Patoo - I usually take the Arimidex in the morning along with all the other junk I have to take.I don't really have issues sleeping because I also take Melatonin (3mg) at night and that really helps. My issue with the AI is the aches and pains, especially back and hips. Ok, so I know some of that is age and some is bulging discs, too!!
Patoo - are you going to Tampa get-together on 2/17 with me?
-
Hi Ruth, thanks for telling us to join his thread.
Just finished my over 2 miles walk this morning, feel good to have this down so I can start my day. Now I need to head out to my radiation, got 4 more to go!
Snicker - will be on AI after radiation, I hope I don’t have much aches and pains. I only have some mild knee pains since after chemo. Praying for mild pains only, so stretching would help out.
-
Ruth I spy a Wentz jersey in there! Go Eagles! 😊 Still so bummed he is out!!
-
Haha - good eyes runnermom. Was very sad to have Wentz go down with the season he was having, but Foles has been an admirable backup. My son-in-laws family are big Eagles fans, but I'm still sneaking my Patriots onesies in for my grandson to be!
Went to hand doctor today with DH - he has 2nd degree frostbite on three of his fingers and possibly 3rd degree on the pinky. Dr says frostbite is a lot like burns (with a similar scale), so at this point you just let the body sort out what lives and what dies. He has enormous blisters on a couple of his fingers, and that is a good sign, means the skin underneath is alive and this is the bodies way of protecting it. The day it happened he had a torn glove so 4 fingers were exposed, and he was in and out of the water with them retrieving duck decoys. It was about 15 degrees above zero, and they say it doesn't take long to get frostbite. He learned a hard lesson. He goes back Monday when they will remove dead skin and flesh.
Haven't gotten to classical stretch yet today, but will shortly. I did do the firewood so that counts as exercise, picking up DH outside chores while his hand heals.
-
Welcome Paulette. Snickers I switched my AI from the morning to night and all my aches disappeared, I also took glucosamine which I think really helped. Heidi I can't do any turns any more because I get dizzy when I do them so I'm a step together step girl. Pat hope your DH is doing okay and his hospital visit went well, I can imagine there is a lot of frostbite with the temperatures being the way they are. Wonderland someone in another group I belong to has also started with the GS cookie posts, I guess I need to get my order in quickly if I want those smores as they go quickly.
Even if there is no "event" Nashville is a great city, I had more fun just wandering from bar to bar listening to great music. If anyone wants to do the Jack Daniels tour it is out by my girlfriends house so that's an activity we could do out there - you know I'm not a drinker but the tour is fascinating and its in a "dry" county so at the end of the tour no Jack samples but they give you lemonade. Her house is in Monteagle which is 90 miles east of Nashville, her house is on VRBO #57171 if anyone wants to take a look at it.
I have pulled my Fitbit out of retirement, have decided I need to kick myself in the behind, I really fell off the exercise wagon and gained a few lbs so I need to motivate myself, going to charge it up and try to get back to my 10000 steps. Last night did Sprint class.
-
Pat...hehe! Love it! Carson's brother Zach was our sons baseball coach for a few years. A great family. We watched Carson play at NDSU (season ticket holders) and became Eagles fans when he was drafted. His story is pretty awesome and yes so bummed when be hurt his knee. And we will be cheering for the Eagles even without Carson on Sunday. I am happy for all our friends who are Viking fans though!
-
Welcome Paulette!
Octogirl - Can't wait to see those pictures.
Pat01 - Oh my, I'm wishing your husband a speedy recovery. It must be so miserable for him. You all stay warm over there.
Cheryl - I'm glad you're bringing your fitbit out of retirement. It was so worth it for me. I've never been this motivated to exercise before.
Snickersmom - Hope you are feeling better. Get some rest so that your body can recover. Looking forward to seeing you again in February.
I reached 10000 steps today and was able to get in about 35 minutes on the elliptical. I'm feeling great thanks to all of you!
It's getting very chilly in Florida. Nothing like ND or NC, but we're getting freezing temps tonight. I believe they said it will get down to 26 degrees. Yuck, not looking forward to that.
Karen
-
Bucsgirl- 26 in Florida is like -2 here on NC! Lol we were in Mount Dora one year for Christmas and the temps were below freezing. It was as miserable as our low temps in NC.
Cheryl- join our fitbit fun! My fitbit has changed my attitude about my freezer, washer, dryee, pantry and my closet being downstairs! Every trip is extra steps!
Pat-sending weLL wishes for your DH.. yikes frostbite!
-
Finally dragged myself out of the house this afternoon to take a walk. I ended up meeting a friend/neighbor along the way so had someone to walk with. I ended up with 8700+ so I don't feel too bad about that. Now I just need to keep doing it.
-
sunny & 30* + 3 mile run outside = 1 happy girl! You know its a good run when you have to slip your running gloves off in Jan! Will do some yoga before bed.
Snickersmom...nice job on walk and steps!
Tampa..yikes that is cold for FL. We had some friends take vacations there begining of month. Their pics are all of them wearing sweatshirts and deserted pools and beaches!
Pat...hope you dh is ok. Frostbite is scary!!
Falconer...love snow days!! Hope you enjoyed and were able to get to yoga tonight.
-
Snickers, see if your neighbor wants to make a walking date every day or a couple times a week. It always is more fun to exercise with a friend.
It was pretty nice out this afternoon, so I walked the grandpuppies and then dozed off while I was watching a TV show with them. I woke up with a cough and feeling BLAH, so am forcing myself to stay home tonight, drink tea, and maybe go to bed early. Lots of germs are going around & I don't have time to be sick!
Stay safe all you East Coast gals. Patoo, I think you got out of Pennsylvania in the nick of time!
Yes, (for the football people), one lady in my picture was wearing an Eagles jersey. She doesn't know a thing about football but loves Carson Wentz.....the excellent (but injured) starting quarterback of the Eagles. He is a North Dakota boy and a really fine young man. We all cheer for the Eagles when they are not playing the Vikings.
-
There was some walking around today: Probably about 2 miles. Yesterday I was really sad and annoyed. I had to up the happy.
-
I can't keep up with this conversation. Welcome to.all the new folks. I got to.a PiYo class. All these choreographed classes go faster than I can move. Worst part is there were 2 of us and the instructor. Oh well, I have a long way to go. God those big mirrors are depressing!
-
pat- I hope your husband heals well. That sounds painful.
We had another snow day here. We now have five to make up in June and it's only January 17th. Hoping for less snow moving forward.
I was able to get out to hydro-running tonight. It feels good to be getting back to being active.
-
PiYo is hard!
-
don't worry ruth, I did like 20%PiYo!
-
hi all and welcome the new posters!
Just back from hospital. Mom fell again this morning. EMS took her to the ER then transported to the hospital for observation. She will be there at least overnight. I was stuck in meetings all day so didn't get there until 5 pm. Poor thing, she is so confused and disoriented. Other than exhaustion, I am fine and REALLY needed today's lunchtime yoga class. Haven't been to the gym all week.
Went to mom's Sunday afternoon as we were expecting snow Sun into Mon. Then Mon was a marathon of doc appointments. Mom last had a well-woman check in Oct and her doc couldn't believe how much she had deteriorated since then. Think it's the combo of meds + wine + age. Got her settled in then headed home. Was there Tues after work as well. Got most of the paperwork done for AL but she was still resisting. Hopefully this episode convinces her it's time. The hosp asked for a copy of health care power of attorney (moi) which I had in my purse along with her DNR and med list. Maybe she's not competent anymore? Not sure as didn't get to talk to a doc while I was there. Maybe discharged tomorrow but truth be told, I'm relieved she's in good hands tonight.
Will check in as I can. Those of you who are so inclined, please pray for my mom. ♥
-
(((Badger))) I am so so sorry I hope everything works out and she can get into AL sooner rather than later. 2FUN you have to look at the positive - you basically had a private class. Dragged out the Fitbit, charged it up but it's not synching correctly so I'll play with it again tomorrow and see if I can fix it.
Did Grit Strength tonight but I've tweaked my knee, lots of squats and squat jumps and I think I came down hard after one jump so I'll rest up in the recliner and ice it. -
badger, I am praying for your mom. Cheryl, hope the knee feels better soon. Falconer, the teacher arranges other students to help out if someone doesn't have a regular partner. That's how I get to dance without dragging my husband along, an impossible task. He's just not interested. I also help out with other classes. The system works for everyone.
