ruth, I hope u r feeling better soon. I am queen of utis. Drink at least half your body weight in ounces of water. You may be able to clear the infection/symptom free by the time the culture comes back from the lab in 48 hours. About half of my infections I am able to."drink away" even when the culture is positive
-
Badger - I would have cried too. I'm so sorry that this is happening to you & mom. Glad to hear that some of the fog has cleared and that she's more steady.
Vargadoll - I need to get my wedding ring adjusted. Thanks for the recommendation in Mount Dora. I'm weird when it comes to leaving my rings at jewelry stores. I definitely need a jewelry repair person that I can trust.
Ruth - Glad to hear that it is what you thought it was.
I was so behind in my workout regimen yesterday. I crammed in as much as I could in the evening (after date night with mom). I reached 10000 steps, but I would have preferred to have done the bulk of it earlier in the day. I'm going to start early today.
-
Badger, a good cry is definitely needed. Can you get the doctor or the IL people to ORDER the move? That is was basically happened with my dad.
Yes, I am drinking (water) like crazy! I think I caught this one pretty early, so already feel much better after only 2 rounds of antibiotics. I was awake, so went to Early Bird Yoga this morning. I am fighting off a cold as well so will take it semi-easy today. On Monday, DH & I take off for 10 days in Arizona, so I would prefer to be healthy at the time!!!!
-
Badger - my heart goes out to you as you deal with the issues surrounding your mom. It's just never easy. I can't tell you how many times my sister and I sat and cried our eyes out. Our parents want to be independent and make their own decisions but sometimes they just don't understand that they need help. I just hated watching mom have to give up her independence but in the end, we all knew it was the right thing to do. She finally saw what the worry, travel, and fear were doing to us. I hope that once your mom can understand the toll this is taking on you, she will be more agreeable to a facility. then she will have people caring for her all the time instead of having to wait for you to get to her home. You are both in my prayers.
Ruth - I just had a nasty UTI, too. Now I am adding cranberry pills to my "diet" and hoping that will help.
-
Badger, so sorry...when I was in a similar situation with my Dad I was crying too!
And oh yeah, I am the queen of 'food porn'. I've attached another one...This was a vegetarian farm to table lunch at a little restaurant near the Giant Buddha..
Ruth, feel better fast....and if you don't feel better by Monday, I know you will when your face feels that Arizona sun!
It is cold here (by West Coast standards) but sunny, and I will be walking..
Hugs to all!
-
<drooling> beautiful food, octo!
Slept until almost 10 (!) now having second cuppa and planning my day. Headed up to mom's in a bit but first library, bank, and drug store for pill minder options. That memory care clock helped, maybe a different pillbox would, too. Will put workout bag in the car and hit the gym on the way home. ♥ to all
-
((((hugs)))) badger. Hope today goes well for you and your mom.
HIIT 30 min. on the exercise bike. Better than nothing?
-
Tessu, it is better than nothing and a lot better than many!
BodyBalance this morning.
-
Falconer; yes I can always do youtube yoga at home. I am trying to use up a pass before it expires, but it is what it is. I am losing weight from having no time to eat, at least!
Today we have the 45 degree and sunny thaw so I went for a 41 minute walk.
Octo what great pictures and darn, the food is as beautiful as the landscape,
-
Yum, Octo!
Tessu, don't downplay it, 30 minutes on the bike is awesome!!
I cleaned the house this afternoon & then did a slowish walk on the treadmill until I hit the 10,000 mark again.
I just polished my toenails (whoo hoo.....that means I will soon be wearing sandals) and am sitting around waiting for them to dry,
-
Yoga class this morning. As I drove into town (I live near Woodstock) there were lots of women gathering for a local women's march here. I'm so tired I don't stand up for anything these days, but I felt encouraged to see our little town doing its thing.
-
Had a nice visit with mom today. We made blueberry muffins and that made the house smell good. Was a nice enough day that I opened the living room windows and let the scent waft out into the hallway. 😊
When I asked if she'd do it for me, mom agreed to sign up for AL. I think the change in wording helped. She's not "going into" assisted living, she's not going anywhere. She can stay in her same apartment.
Knowing there's relief in sight, I'm less stressed and that's good for the both of us. Doing one day's worth of meds helped so will go back 2moro with chocolate chip cookie dough to bake. That'll bring out the neighbors!
90 mins @ gym - 45 TM (Disco Classics!), 30 strength, 15 yoga ahhhh.
-
Whew, Badger!
-
4 mile run this morning, shopping at mall, worked the bb game this afternoon, and craft night with sister in law this evening. Busy but fun day! And hit just over 15,000 steps for the day! I am exhausted!
-
Yay sciatica eased enough so I could enjoy a 6Kstep park walk
Also went to Kinesis, but only lasted 45 minutes, but at least found out (ouch) which of the exercises has been making my left shoulder sore. So win
-
Badger, so glad your Mom said yes. You are doing a great job!
Been doing my classical stretch faithfully, I should be really loose but every morning when I get up I move like an old lady! Company coming next week, so I've been cleaning, making beds, etc. Good luck to everyone's favorite team today, especially mine!
-
Badger - The change in wording means all the difference in the world. I've found that to be true.
Pat - Don't feel bad. I feel like an old lady when rolling out of bed in the morning, and after sitting for too long. Everything loosens up once you start walking around. It is annoying though. It happens to me also when getting up after a meal at a restaurant. I can't just get up and go anymore.
I was able to get in 45 minutes on the elliptical. I'm still at level 1. I may try to go to level 2 this morning. It's strange that 2 miles on the elliptical doesn't quite record the same as a 45 minute walk on fitbit. I did reach a little over 10000 steps, but not because of the elliptical activity. Whatever!
Yay, another day of playoff games.

Hi and Happy Sunday! Hate to be ignorant but who's playing football today?
My med mgmt. system was nice in theory but impractical in application. Mom took all of her Sat bedtime pills plus all of her Sunday pills, sometime between 5 pm Sat and 9 am Sun.
Planned to stop at the big box store on the way out of town for one of those automatic pill dispensers. But then spoke with one of the nurses, a nice lady who cares about mom. She verified the empty pillbox. We're doing AL but med admin won't start for a few days so pls keep coming every day. Can do, already planned to. She said don't bother getting the gizmo.
Headed up soon w/cookie dough and 2moro's meds. If she takes them all by the time I get there after work on Monday, sobeit. Gymbag packed for a stop on the way home.
-
great job tessu. I still can't get more than 10 on the elliptical or 20 on treadmill. I htink I need better music!
-
Instead of my usual 30 minute workout, I cleaned the bathroom and cleaned the walls on my stairs. Now I am paying for all this activity and using the heating pad on my back.
-
Spent the afternoon doing taxes online as deadline is January 31st - what a yearly palaver this process is (like anywhere). Grateful to hit send and out of my hair until next year. DH baked almond and honey cookies while sleety snow pelted down.
Pilates this morning.
-
Ruth- the game is on downstairs here but I'm heading to bed! I know your team has a bit to go as it's the third quarter so I hope they make it...
I'm still sore from yesterday's yoga class. And I ran walked on the treadmill today for twenty min before supper. Because it's official. I signed up to run the 5K while the DD runs the half. If you read the details it's the free tree and the "fairly flat" that got me. Anyone want to join us?
EARTH DAY HALF MARATHON & 5K
The Earth Day Half Marathon & 5K has quickly become one of CNY's most looked forward to springtime races! Along with some of the best swag out there, all participants get a tree to plant! Runners love the connection to the countryside setting and find it to be therapeutic for mind, body, and soul. As you run along the low-traffic country roads, you'll be rewarded with amazing views of rolling farmland, pastures with roaming cows and horses and the lookout at Beaver Lake. The race start/finish and post-race fest are at the Emmi Farm's Greenhouse with lots of parking, conveniently nearby, within walking distance.
The half marathon is mostly a loop course on low-traffic, country roads with many friendly neighbors that come out to cheer you on! The course is described as having rolling hills with a good one, endearingly called Aw-Come-On Hill, just past the 8 mile mark. The 5K is an out & back along two fairly flat stretches of country road.
The Earth Day Half Marathon & 5K event benefits the Syracuse Rescue Mission and local groups.

Hey for my Patriots!
Now go Vikings for Ruth!!!
-
falconer, Syracuse is only a bit over an hour from.me, but I was laid out for 2 days after walking on the treadmill, so I don't think.I can do a 5k. Maybe I could. But it would take me a long time!
-
2Fun- you have exactly 16 weeks to get ready for it. And you get a free tree! (There's also a free beer at the end of the race too, if that's more appealing, and live music!) I'm slow and might finish my race before DD even though she's running 13 miles. Would love if you did it with me!
-
Congratulations Patriots and Eagles fans! Boo hoo for the rest of us.....but that's the way the ball bounces....or spirals in this case.
2Fun & Falconer, it would be so awesome if you would do the run together (and post pictures afterwards, of course, so we can enjoy it vicariously).
No formal exercise for me today, but I got 8,000 steps packing! Up & down the steps, round & round.....I am a very disorganized packer. My next report will be from sunny Arizona!
-
sorry about the Vikings, Ruth, but have a great time in Arizona!

Wearing the Fitbit has made me accountable to myself, yesterday morning I did Body Combat, great class normal feeling some of it was challenging but doable except for the cooldown where we were laying on our backs doing cris crosses with our legs and I just did crunches as I couldn't lift my legs as they were fatigued then in the afternoon I downloaded RPM and went to the gym and did the 45 minutes on the bike and I was red faced and dripping sweat and felt it so much harder but then I looked at the Fitbit and I had a higher cardio peak in Combat and yet I felt it more in RPM also I don't like that biking doesn't register on the Fitbit. Today I did Shbam and finally finished pruning roses.
Ruth have a wonderful time in Arizona. Badger happy you have a plan with your Mom. Tessu glad your sciatica eased it's so darned painful.
-
Try to get back in, today 1hr on threadmile 3.5 miles. My legs are ok. Friday I swam for about 45mins just under 1 mile, sore in the shins and core. Tomorrow I swim again. Trying to lose 18 pounds in 6 weeks. Eating about 1200 calories a day.
My joints will never be the same after AI drugs hoping getting the weight off will help.
-
Same with me Ruth. Happy for the Pats but totally bummed about the Vikings.
Might sweep and mop the kitchen floor today, or at least half of it
