Glad the floors in, Snickers. Always fun when a house project is done & turns out how you want.
I had an interesting morning.....I called, and despite the snow and 40 mph winds, my 9:00 Pound class was still on. DH was still sleeping so I thought maybe I could just back out of the garage FAST and go over the snow.......WRONG idea as I got stuck in the driveway! DH was then summoned.....he snowblowed, I shoveled, the car was unstuck and I made it for the last 15 minutes class. I did stay for the Bone Builders class which is right after Pound & when I got home I did 15 minutes of toning on utube. I am staying IN for the rest of the day!!!!
-
I most definitely need some of your energy!!! We are both exhausted and sore from moving everything, etc. I will be so happy when it's all done and the house is somewhat normal again! I have not been sleeping well at all and have been clenching my jaw and grinding my teeth, too. I think I have been so tied up trying to rearrange furniture in my mind, etc. and I wake up as tired as when I went to bed. Plus all of this stuff on the lanai has to be unpacked and put back after I clean all of the furniture. I can't wait to get my sewing room put together so I can get back to quilting. Think I will go out for a walk
-
Did my "jane fonda" style yoga class at lunch, plus my active Yin class last night...so four classes in four days! That's good for me.
-
Had to miss my work-out yesterday - and not sure when I can get back to the gym - dealing with a nasty cough and body aches and occasional mild fever - since Tuesday!!! I was feeling GREAT on Sunday and a felt a little tired but Ok on Monday.
Then - on Tuesday - BAM!!!! All of the nasty flu like symptoms!!! Just when I thought I wouldn't get the flu this year!!! UGH!!!!
I am feeling more energetic today and would be going to the gym tonight - if it weren't for this cough!!! (don't wan to make it worse or give it to anyone!!!) (there's a very scary/sad story in the news of a very healthy 21 yr old body-builder/trainer - who got the flu and died!!! - so SAD!!)

Hi, here's an update. Left work at noon ahead of a storm and stopped in to see mom before heading home. She is doing better but still unsteady on her pins and not using her walker dangit. Left her the casserole we were going to have for supper as wanted to get OTR ASAP.
So glad I left early. The temp dropped 30 degrees between the time I left and when I got home. The snow went north of us but I'd rather have had snow than freezing rain. Stopped at the local hardware store for ice melt, a hot item today, then got home and made the sidewalk safe. The mailbox was frozen shut so had to pound it with a rubber mallet to crack it open and get the mail. Tonight I am sitting on my butt in my warm house, reading. Supper is an empanada filled with black bean and sweet potato mmm.
-
Badger, glad you are 'doing you' this evening. That is always necessary to help relieve the stress of everyday life.
Had dinner with mysunshine and snickers. Fun.
Snickers is definitely on board for Nashville (ruthbru, she loves researching activities so you will now have a helper!). mysunshine is waiting for info on when we think we may go in October. Looks like October is open at the Wyndham, Nashville. Everyone please lookat your schedules for October and let us know, early, mid, or end October?
Did not get much in today in terms of exercise. Think will do some in-home marching and then relax awhile. Have Dexa scan tomorrow so will see if my bones have stayed where they were or gotten better as not even allowing them to think they lost more!
Night sculpted friends.

I enjoyed dinner tonight, too. Already getting out my research sites for Nashville. and thought of somewhere for the future - Asheville, NC.
-
Hi to all! Welcome to the new members!
Well I got 2 good workouts in today...45 min of Tabata this morning thanks to school 2 hrs late due to the storm and then 30 min on treadmill tonight while ds was at his speed workout and eh went grocery shopping. #11/33 rad treatments completed today! 2/3 of the way done!
Off to plop my butt on couch and read!
-
Badger would love the empanada recipe! They sound delish!
-
They are sooo good! House-made by the local organic market, I buy them frozen and heat in the oven for a nice flaky crust. Here are the label ingredients:
Black beans, yams, onion, garlic, currents, cow milk feta, chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, parsley, chili powder, cumin, salt, Monique's simple pie crust (unbleached wheat flour, butter, cider vinegar).
-
Cheryl, what would work for your friend in October? That, more than anything, would determine our timing.
For new ladies; 7 years ago, patoo, hbcheryl, badger, and I met up in Minneapolis and had so much fun that we have taken a yearly vacation ever since. We've gone lots of neat places (Daytona this year), had other exercisers join us & met up with some neat local ladies along the way. We are thinking of a couple days in Nashville and a couple at Cheryl's friend, who owns a B&B in the mountains nearby. Any/All are invited (as long as you like to see new things, walk/walk/walk, eat and are very flexible about sleeping arrangements, sharing bathrooms etc. Stay tuned for updates!

Runnermum: Dry eyes may be the result of decreased estrogen. We have small amounts of estrogen in our eyes. It is also possible to have secondary breast cancer in the eye.
Patoo: I thought you were 25 years younger than your chronological age. You look terrific.
Today I walked all over Tampa's IKEA with a friend of mine. I went outside and removed all the Christmas lights.
Last night, my hands and feet hurt from CIPN, but I woke up refreshed and did all the stuff.
The transition to Letrosole from Tamoxifen seems to be fine. I'm still having lots of hot flashes.
-
Delivered Meals on Wheels today. I deliver to an apartment building with 5 floors so lots of walking. Came home to chase my 2 y/o grandson while DD went to a doctor's appointment. 23,000+ steps for me today.
Yes to Asheville! That's where I live!
-
Ruth she is in Florida this week, I'll contact her and see what dates are available on her books, and yes to everyone coming to join us we are a fun group and I can't believe you took yourself out in the snow and ice you crazy North Dakotan you. Vargadoll that's lots of steps and it's such a good cause. Badger those empanadas sound delicious, glad you made it home and wow what a temperature drop, we had an incredible storm on Tuesday with ferocious wind and torrential rain and now they're saying we're going back up to 80, no wonder everyone is sick with colds and flu. Scared good to hear you are feeling better and you're wise to stay out of the gym - a lot of my instructor friends are posting on FB asking people to please stay out of the gym if you're coughing so you can recover. Glad you floor project is din Snickers and more importantly glad you like it. LB your new program sounds great you should see f you can get into retirement or nursing facilities and love that you're helping a new tribe member, its so scary stepping out of your comfort zone.
Tonight was headed to the gym and got called home, a neighbor around the corner lost their house to a fire on Tuesday night, we have a community and a tract FB page and people have been donating items to the family 6 kids ages 2 to 13 so they are using my garage to sort all the donated items, I had left it open but they couldn't seem to get in anyways turned around came home and of course as I pulled up they managed to get the door open so I just helped unload all the items and then did Body Pump using my On Demand app. -
badger, what is the for cast for milwaukee? We are leaving here (western ny) sat am. Will arrive in milwaukee around 9pm. Then leave Monday am. I really don't like road trips in the winter!
Went to LE PT yesterday. He thinks that most of my discomfort is due to scar tissue.
He did my strength testing and I could not believe how weak I am!!! Felt a bit better. I'm looking forward to getting back on monday.back into a routine with kids back in college. Love them, but they take away from my exercise time!
-
Hello ruthbru,
Just finished my last Taxotere treatment yesterday.
My oncologist recommended Weight Watchers and daily exercise.Start slowly and gradually work up to 4 hours a week.
Also starting radiation soon not sure of the side effects yet until I have my consultation appointment.Just so happy to be done with chemo.
-
Reached my 10000 step goal again yesterday. I'm taking mom to her f/u oncology appointment today, and we'll do a little shopping at the mall after that. I wanted to go to International Plaza in Tampa. Unfortunately, we will most likely stay in Brandon since it's so rainy and yucky outside.
Patoo - Good luck with the Dexa scan results. I'd love to go on the Nashville trip (and meet everyone), but it's during football season. We don't know what the schedule is yet, and we're planning to go to Cincinnati for the Bucs/Bengals game.
Stay safe, everyone!
-
Hello to All you inspiring women!
Ruthbru, we'd love to see photos from your past meet ups if you don't mind sending! We'd love to add photos to our out-of-date slideshow! Get together photos. And excited to hear about another one in NC!!
Happy New Year from us Mods

At our biweekly meeting Tues, my local bc support group compared notes, and it seems everybody on letrozole is stiff as a board in the morning, and has all kinds of joint aches. So it isn't just me getting old (husband's view). I wasn't sure because that wasn't a problem when I was on anastrozole first. I think being able to blame it all on that pill will make it easier to live with.
Trying alternating heavier exercise days with days of mostly just walking and LE exercises. Yesterday Pilates (with the dreaded ring - we all groaned hearing that's the new routine for the next six weeks), then home 30 min on the exercise bike. Today just walked, carefully, only 6.5K steps — it’s a slippery sheet of ice all over. Local newspaper had depressing news, there is still no skiing on the lake - the ice is ”rotten” because of our too warm weather and drizzle. This time of year it usually would have been way below freezing for weeks; this winter it’s stayed just a couple degrees above and below. This has never happened before. I hate global warming. Hoping all that monster cold in the States will come here for vacation soon
So I’m not keeping up with everybody here yet. Especially Ruthbru! But I read here to keep motivated. Thanks everybody for posting so much. And have a great weekend!
-
Bucsgirl - you are a girl after my own heart - not making any October plans until the football schedule comes out!
Thanks for sorting out why we can sometimes not see the fitbit group - I can see it on my PC, but not on my tablet or phone - good to know it is on fitbits end so I can stop trying to find it.
More crazy weather - it is in the 50's right now, 2-3 inches of rain predicted today into tomorrow, then 30 degree drop in temp to flash freeze everything, plus we still have a fair bit of snow everywhere, so lots of ponding expected, and snow fog to make matters worse. I'm staying in this weekend! Have a lot of winter time decluttering to do, so I won't be bored.
Did classical stretch this morning.
-
For those that are having aches and stiffness due to AI's, I have been told some women have noticed a decrease in symptoms by adding powder collagen to their diet. Anyone heard this or tried? A brand called Vital Proteins Collagen was recommended and someone else said they have used Axe Collagen and has had good results with that brand as well. I was told it's tasteless and can be mixed into coffee or smoothies (hot or cold items)
-
Tessu, that 'magic ring', older members hate it, too stiff and bruises thighs on many and the groans, oh the groans. I could not tolerate letrozole for the deep pain in joints, so what Runnersmum put up regarding collagen may offer relief. Cheryl, kudos to you for being the helping neighbor to this poor family who lost everything right after the holidays no less. Welcome sweetybert! DH is in Derby with DS and home tomorrow. Holding the fort here, just me and Roo. Don't know how you guys do it every day, dozens of language services at the BBC today have been discussing the right way to translate into their own language the word "sh**hole' for their millions of listeners~sigh. Have a good start to the weekend everyone!
Pilates this afternoon.
-
Sweetybert at my first oncologist visit she looked me right in the eyes and said "the very best thing you can do for yourself is to exercise 30 minutes a day" for some reason I "heard" her and I took her words to my heart and this group is one of the best possible things that came from those words.
Ruth I spoke to Suzi, she says we can have the place any time in the first two weeks of October, she has bookings the 18th through the 29th - let the planning begin. Country Music Hall of Fame Museum is an absolute must even if you're not a fan of country music, probably one of the best museums I've ever been to, also Nash Trash tours is lots of fun but usually booked out way in advance. -
Pat01 - You made me laugh. Yes, I guess you and I are die hard football fans. It's funny that everyone is talking about Nashville. My husband can't wait until we play the Tennessee Titans. He wants to plan a trip to Nashville around a Bucs/Titans game. LOL! We're trying to visit as many stadiums and ballparks as we can.
So, I'm at 9500 steps right now. The mall is a great place to get in those needed steps. I'm going to start my elliptical activity soon. Yay!
-
Tampa - you have to go to Nashville!!! How could you put football ahead of us??
-
Thank you hbcheryl
Starting my 30 minute walk tomorrow with my hubby. I needed a jump start to get back on track.
-
BcsGirl/pat01, Natsfan also will abandon us if the Nationals are anywhere near going to the World Series. Fortunately the World Series is over(?) by October? Or does it go into October (yeah, you can tell I don't follow).
Dexa was postponed because machine was down so now not until the 25th.
Snickers/Vargadoll, I was in Asheville in 2015 with my sister. Toured 8 days and we had a ball, even finding a beach, and with the best being ending the trip with the Omni Spa - heavenly! MexiHeather, thanks for the compliment.
So glad we now have a start for Nashville. So we need to decide how much time to spend at Cheryl's friend. I believe she's like an hour in the mountains outside of Nashville? And how much time for Nashville. Weigh in, friends, about total length of the trip you would be willing to spend with these crazy gals. I'm open.
Okay, I need almost 5000 steps to make 10,000 so going to either do a DVD or watch a show and march with it.
Night sculpted friends.

I had a different reaction to President Trump's comment.
It made me reflect on how lucky and thankful I am not to have been born in a number of places in the world. For one thing, I would most likely have died from cancer, because standard treatment would not have been available. This would have been after I had been disowned by my family as "diseased". This is assuming that I didn't perish from childhood or a host of infectious diseases, or from needing to sell my body because there were no other means of earning a living (and acquiring AIDS in that deal). Or because there were no sanitary conditions for childbirth, and I succumbed to infection.
There are some truly ghastly places on this planet, particularly for women. Compared to what so many women face, I have led (and continue to lead) a charmed life. - Claire

It's been a week since the last time I posted. Just caught up with reading through the pages.
Badger: So sorry about your mother. Thinking of you and especially your mom.
Welcome to all the new ladies!
Nashville sounds wonderful!!!
I haven't been as active this week (got in a walk/run yesterday) as a good friend of mine was hospitalized a week ago and I have been staying many hours with her. She's a Little Person and was paralyzed from the waist down after back surgery 4 years ago. Due to severe ulcers (bed sores) on her bottom she had to have a colostomy which will be permanent. She is now in a nursing home bc she is on IV antibiotics for 6 weeks. She was confused in the hospital - one day she thought she in a village, another day she thought she was in an apartment, etc. She has had moments of confusion prior to her being in the hospital and we are all concerned as what this means for her future. My friend lives in her house by herself and has someone from Home Instead come 3 times a week in the evening. Her sister comes over every morning, gets her out of her bed with a lift and into the wheelchair, breakfast, etc. Her confusion adds a whole new level to her care.
Tomorrow is Girl Scout Cookie Delivery Day. Wish me luck as we distribute over 3000 cases for our Service Unit. That's just the initial order!

I better not start expounding about how far America has strayed from the 'give me your tired, your poor' promise we have made to the downtrodden people of the world and the ideal that we are supposed to be a Shining City on a Hill or I will be banished by the mods........
So.......today I subbed (8th grade English, Falconer!) and went to Zumba. The snow has stopped, the streets are semi-cleaned off, but it is back to being real cold, 24 below this morning and tonight is supposed to be even worse.
Tessu, I really don't do that much (in comparison to Vargadoll anyway.....she is the Steps Queen). I just make sure to post every day so it seems like a lot!
Sweetybert, my experience was.....chemo made me feel so crummy that radiation was a piece of cake in comparison.
I just ordered a Nashville Visitors Guide. I've never been there. For people who have, what would be a good amount of time to hit the highlights? 3 days? 4? and how many days to we want in the mountains......would 3 be about right? Would a week (give or take a day) be about right?
