Let's Post our Daily Exercise

post-knee replacement rehab and recovery continues to go well: I can walk around the house without even a cane! Yesterday's exercise consisted of Thanksgiving grocery shopping and cooking dinner without any help: it wasn't as tiring as I thought it would be. We are taking the groceries to a rented house by the coast where I plan to do some walking.
PT today, which means time on the stationary bike, and exercises. Looking forward to it.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Good on 5 years clear S&S!
Dull grey, icy-cold drizzly start and continues through the afternoon. Pink Pilates this morning with two little heaters on full blast to heat up all six of us. A new woman arrived, 3 weeks out of surgery and full node clearance on one side. Took out on all 4's exercises and reduced our resistance tubes and small hand weights to low reps, no repeat. It was good yet she still felt it was more difficult than she thought it would be even with the class was modified to a fairly low beginners level. Returning the exercise can be surprisingly tricky even if you feel in shape. Checked on the stats this morning and my sis completed the Ironman in 16 hours, 26 minutes. In her age category (60 - 63, she is 63) she came in 12th out of 25. No way could I do an Ironman, kudos to her! Off to teach BodyBalance/Flow in early evening but now, off to hoover up all the collie dog hair. Have a good start to the week everyone!

Wow, congrats to your sister, Lilac!
Good job on the PT, Octo!
Have fun with the family, Pat.
I am taking a break from errands (came home to put groceries in the fridge). It is supposed to be 50 today & have a high of 20 tomorrow, so my next stop is to get a car wash, then I will pick up the puppies and do a dog walk with a friend & her dogs. Zumba tonight, followed by yoga (only it's not going to be yoga, it's going to be an hour of Guided Relaxation.......we are instructed to bring blankets & pillows, so it already sounds wonderful to me!!!).
-
Badger: LOL with Romper Room! Yes, that's how it felt. Hope your are feeling better.
Scottie: Your ds did awesome in the Atlanta Walk!
Brutersmom: Congratulations on your inches you have lost!
Pat: Have a great time with family in DC.
Octo: Your rehab has been amazing. Have fun at the coast.
Lilac: WOW! Your sister! How wonderful! No way could I do what she has done.
Ruth: Did your volleyball team win?
Walked/ran Saturday and Sunday. We are having a beautiful crisp fall day today. Perfect for raking so I did. Raked and hauled leaves for over 4 hours today - I'm sore now.
-
No, we lost, but took it to a 5th, and tie-breaking set. We had lots of fans there and it is always fun to be part of a tournament atmosphere.....although it is even more fun when you win! Some pretty sad girls after the match .
My Guided Relaxation class was WONDERFUL......although I can't count it as exercise!
-
Octo, terrific forward momentum on knee replacement recovery. Wonderland & Ruth, sis relayed in email that she had to go into the warming tent after the swim because she was hypothermic and that added 20 min to transition on to the bike and lower back seized up looking like Quasimodo coming in from the run. All her training paid off as this was beyond difficult. As we know, one trains and hopes to peak on the day, yet, real life happens (like everything else) and you have to punt and push make it to the end. Sorry to read the girls lost Ruth.
Pilates this afternoon.
-
last night had a 75 min Yin Yoga class with a new instructor...very much more traditional Yin than my normal Wednesday evening class, very few poses held for minutes at a time...so Ruth, does it count as exercise??? I say yes...clearly not aerobic exercise, but was definitely working my body in ways that are helpful
Off to lunch time normal yoga/pilates class soon...this one definitely counts as exercise!
-
40 min on the exercise bike
-
I'm going to POUND tonight, then maybe dance along while watching the finals of Dancing With the Stars.
Trm, yes, your exercise 'counts'.....mine doesn't because it was lying on the floor for an hour and meditating.....but exercise for the soul is good too!
-
Yes exercise for the soul is wonderful too Ruth. I am working on practicing mindfulness and mediation daily. There is a new book I put on my Christmas list Mindful Running by Mackenzie Havey. I just listened to a podcast with the author. I do consider running meditative for me, especially when I was able to run outside. I am also currently reading Anxious For Nothing by Max Lucado. I am just getting into the section on meditating on the blessings and good things in our lives. Man you can think you have stress on your life but nothing like what a cancer diagnosis does to your mind and body. I do feel a positive difference when I go for runs, do my yoga etc but for someone who likes to stay busy, I find it is very hard to just sit and be! Boy can my mind go a hundred miles per hour some days.
45 min on treadmill last night...15 min of walking and 30 min of running, followed by 20 min of yoga. Tonight will do Yoga Inferno, some strength work and finish making cheese cakes for Thanksgiving
-
Thanks Everyone for the advice on the classes!!! It's funny because there's an exercise class (for cancer patients) where I received my treatment. But, it is wayyyyyy too easy. I think I get more of a workout just doing laundry than doing that class. On the other extreme - is the GRIT Pylo!! haha...
I've got so much catching up to do on here!! Busy at work today...but plan on taking a new class tonight (if I can get out of here on time!!) I had a great time in my U-Jam class on Sunday followed by a nice and sweaty 45 min on the stationary bike...
Thanks again everyone - for being such an inspiration. I love hearing about other people's workouts!
-
I miss the classes at my (old) gym, I didn't renew my membership this year as I was not going as regularly as I should have. I live in the city, so driving/parking would be too much hassle and taking the subway would be another type of hassle (and added cost). If a gym opens walking distance to my house (or my work), then I will definitely join again.
Did a heavy duty leg work and a HIIT session yesterday. Today will be a yoga session from Nike Training app. Even the intermediate sessions are pretty rigorous.
-
Ruth: Sorry the volleyball team lost. And yes, how you treat people does matter.
Lilac: Oh my goodness! What your sister endured during the Ironman! She is an Ironman to me!
Good Evening All! Grocery shopping the day before Thanksgiving is ridiculous so I went after lunch. Came home and walked/ran. Tomorrow the cooking starts.
-
LB your sister is amazing and glad your DH is doing well. Heidi I'm with you, boo hoo I so miss Body Jam, I have to drive to San Diego and I've been lax about doing the drive, the instructor keeps messaging me to come down but seems I've been doing one thing or another for the past 2 months but I will get back to it. Octo great job on the rehab. Scared Grit is meant to be individualized you do what you can at your pace, look I'm no spring chicken and I need to have a bench to do burpees (short arms) so I may only do 8 to 10 and the person next to me does 30 but I've done what I can at my pace, and LB and 2FUN gave you great advice about speaking to the instructor - I've never met an instructor who wasn't happy to take their time to talk to me about my limitations, and I love Grit Strength.
Have been crazy busy at work and I have a houseguest so I do feel a little guilty about running into the house and getting changed and running off to the gym but I've managed to keep my guilt to myself I wish it was cold here we are now having a darned heatwave it's cool at night and the temperature has been going up and up and tomorrow it's going to be 86 and now I have horrid post nasal drip which is driving me insane, stupid weather ughhhh.
-
The Walking Women did the track at the new community fitness center this morning and I'm going to yoga tonight. We're spending Thanksgiving day in South Dakota with DH's family. Since a ton of people show up (he is 10th of 11 children), my assignment is to bring a salad, relish tray, and some board games. Works for me!
I am very, very thankful for all of you!
-
No school today, so just in from my last pre-Thanksgiving shopping chores. We host the dinner, so have lots of cooking to do...but will be going to my 75 minute "active" yin yoga class at 5:30 tonight
and...tomorrow DH and I will walk in a 5K Turkey Trot. As we live 3/4 mile from the start of the race, we walk to the race and then back home afterwards, so the 5K is really a 5 mile...all for good before the cooking and eating begins!
Happy Thanksgiving to all, thanks to all of you on this board with the uplifting messages we share.
Best, TT

Well...didn't make it to the gym last night. But, just had an amazing one hr on the stationary bike. Burned up 458 Cals!!! Feeling so much better right now!!!!
-
HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all you beautiful ladies!!!
Cooked a pie, potato dish, and zucchini casserole today. Still have one more dish to cook in the morning before heading to my sister's house (over an hour away) to have Thanksgiving with my side of the family. Walked/ran this afternoon.
-
Lilac your sister should be proud to compete and do that well. That's great. Octo, glad your recovery is going well and I'm sure it will give you some good relief once you get fully recovered. TTab I say yin yoga is exercise. For sure it has benefits. Runnersmom, interested in the mindful running idea. I always think of mindfulness attached to stillness. Ruth, wish I was close to go with your Wednesday Walkers. It always looks like you have fun.
Happy Thanksgiving, all! Don't eat too much, and we'll all recover together with some exercise afterward! We had a half day of work today so I went for a 40 minute walk with two run periods there, which were surprisingly easy (maybe I finally see improvement) and then I came home and mowed to get the leaves up for 30 minutes. Had a horrible couple of days at work so my exercise today was quite therapeutic and really looking forward to this long weekend.
-
Happy Thanksgiving!!!
I am not cooking again.
Still I really wanted to walk this morning but the steady rain kept me inside.
-
Just popping in to say Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃 🍁🍂
It’s been really hectic and I haven’t been able to fit in all my stretching and strength. Things will settle into a new routine soon I hope. Running is steadily getting back to where it was and that time is really therapeutic for me.
Hope everyone in the US has a great day and that everyone has a good end to the week! I hope to catch up on what I’ve missed here tomorrow.
-
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, everyone! I'm thankful to all of you for keeping me motivated to exercise.
-
Happy Thanksgiving!! I hope all of you beautiful ladies have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!
One year ago, I was very down on this day, because it was my first Thanksgiving after my diagnosis...
This year, although I still struggle, I am so thankful that I rediscovered my love of exercise and grateful for all of the wonderful ladies on bco though I have never met in real life, have been a wealth of information and an anchor of kind support...
-
happy thsnksgiving! We drove 800 miles to chicago, and I will.see my entire family in about 5 minutes. We have not been together for almost 2 years. I hope to go on a long walk with my family later today. Hugs to all of you!
-
Hugs and Happy Thanksgiving to all you wonderful ladies!
I finally got out for a long walk in the park yesterday; and just got back from our local bc support group’ s exercise class. Body feels completely out of shape again, of course, after three weeks of just sitting around waiting for my toe to start to heal. But I’ve had to build up from zero enough times before that I know it’s possible, if I just keep moving. And keep checking in here for motivation!
-
Gym this morning to do a Body Combat class, 63 people in that room giving their all so this afternoon we shall feel no guilt.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone, I feel blessed to have you all in my life. -
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
I need to get moving as making dinner for myself and a friend who I fortunately asked at the last minutes. I think it would have been Swanson's frozen turkey dinner otherwise. I am making quail with tons of veggies plus wild rice with chanterelles as a starch.
I got in a ride earlier, but only 13, and not the 20 miles I had planned because so many of my favorite cycling roads were under water. The good news is that my new Endura cycling jacket is everything it claimed to be. I gave it a good stress test today and stayed dry.
I am hoping all the critters are safe, and also thinking about the people who are stranded with impassable roads.
Just put the last of the flowers from my deck into water for a centerpiece. Will light candles and make it all festive.
Life is good, and so much to be thankful for. Thinking back to my childhood, we truly have an abundance of good food to choose from. My grandmother's house had a huge root cellar. I suspect meals got a trifle monotonous come March. No wonder dandelions and stinging nettles were welcomed in the spring!
Off to look up how to cook quail so I can replicate a dish I have made before. - Claire

Hi all and Happy Thanksgiving! Hubby had to work today so I spent the day reading & relaxing after an hour at the gym. 20 min recumbent bike, 30 weights, 10 yoga stretch. Made a big pot of soup from beef stock and veggies. DH brought turkey home so we had soup and sandwich for supper. And of course pumpkin pie! Working tomorrow then taking mom out for supper. She ate brunch with her CBRF friends so I didn't have to travel. Nice to have a quiet day.
-
We stayed home for Thanksgiving this year - just my hubby and son and the dog, and talk about stress-free. Weather is beautiful - sunny and pleasant enough to go for a walk, so we went to the lake and walked around the long way 50 minutes. I did one spell of running to get in my bone-preserving one to two minutes per day. Came home and had non-traditional soup, crab legs, potato, green beans, fruit salad. I did feel I erred on not getting a pumpkin pie because I missed that, but we had strawberry cheesecake cookies so that satisfied the "dessert".
-
A quick check in: I did 45 of toning before we took off yesterday; and since it was really nice out, I volunteered to take Stella for a little dog walk in between all the eating, visiting & game playing. This morning I am going to a special "Masters" Zumba class. I don't know what that means, but the two really good instructors are co-teaching so it should be fun. Our tradition is to put up the Christmas decorations Thanksgiving weekend, so that's what I will be doing this afternoon!
