What is more beautiful than an evening walk on the beach?
-
Love the photos of the gathering and SpecialK jumped in - Awesome! Octo, good to read how you are moving forward with surgery recovery. KB780, your swim challenge is amazing.
I've ducked out of posting for a bit, sorry about that yet it's been slightly hectic. Opera Saturday night, was good, lovely theatre, perfect evening in London with a unusualhigh tea (before the 6:30pm start, too early for dinner) with a twist, a vibrant array of Spanish tapas. It was a perfect night, we took a taxi from the Halkin Hotel where the tea was to the London Coliseum in St. Martin's Lane, next to Trafalgar Square. As we were at ENO, it was sung in english with a few performers who were American. By reading the programme, there is American Friends of ENO one can join for $310 per year. On Monday morning, took DH to hospital to have a pacemaker, that included an over night stay. This all took place in a newish' private hospital in Maidstone. He has been off work until this morning and I drove him to the train station at 6:45am. With the stents he had placed in February and now the pacemaker, sure hope this is it. I'd better jump and put together a lesson plan for a new Pilates class starting 1pm. Good to read everyone is on the mend, active and I'm feeling relief and hopeful from Tuesday election results. Let's keep at it!

Sweeping and Swiffering the kitchen floor, emptying the dishwasher and cleaning the bathroom are the exercise plan for the day.

9 weeks post-op tomorrow and this week got back to my usual level of 3 yoga classes in a week...this week did Monday/Wednesday/Thursday. Just back from the lunchtime "not" gentle yoga...I modified (still can't do a plank) and got a full workout in the 75 minute class.
Thanks for all the pics of the Florida trip! TT
-
Great job TT!
I did the last of the raking after work and before dark. Temp just dropped from 44 F to 20 F and lots of snow is coming down!
-
Our last vacation day, here's the beach in the morning from our balcony.
-
We went to an annual Greek Festival at a local Greek Orthodox Church. Lots of delicious traditional Greek food. Yum!
-
We spent the rest of the day enjoying the resort amenities!
-
We went out for one last fabulous dinner. Tomorrow we go our separate ways after a great week together (most of us are going to have to both exercise AND diet to counteract all the food we consumed!).
-
great photos!

Love the pics from Florida! Next year for me, wherever you all go....
Rehab after knee replacement going well one week post surgery. I love the physical therapy apts, they work me hard but also give really nice massages. :-) At home, I am starting to walk around house without walker, and keeping up on stretching exercises. Did dishes and laundry today! It would be easy to stay in bed and get waited on hand and foot, but moving around is much better. My sister is coming to visit today: If the weather stays nice I plan to go for a walk around the block with her (and my walker: doc says I can do whatever level of exercise I want and can handle, as long as I don't fall...)
So happy to be moving again!

And we're off, after one last one for the road.

Finished week 2 of my 21 day Jumpstart program. Not loosing weight but my closes are fitting even better. Seeing less cellulite on the legs and getting more energy. All positive. Great pic Ruth. Looks like you are having lots of Fun.

Hi All! I've been lurking on here for a while and thought I'd post my daily exercise as I've started to exercise a lot more these days!
Today it was one hour on the stationary bike. Got very very very sweaty and it felt wonderful!!
It helps me feel like I never actually had BC, even though my BC was huge and aggressive with all the bad stuff...
-
Welcome Scared! You've joined a great and motivating group of people
I didn't do a lot today, was too busy at work. But had a pretty active week otherwise. Running, weight training and yoga. Someone mentioned Yin yoga upthread. I'd never tried it but found some videos on youtube and am already a convert! It's a great complement to my other workouts.
-
Brutersmom, way to jumpstart your fitness. Eren, will look up those yin yoga videos, too. My old gym is now offering anti-gravity yoga. I'm tempted to try it out but I'm afraid I might hurt my neck. Scared, we love to hear about what people are doing. Daytona women and food look great.
Yesterday ran 3K with fast/slow intervals. Did kettlebells, lat pulldowns, pushups and stretching. Today some shop and sculpt and tango.

Good morning,
It’s been a hectic couple of weeks. I’ve read and caught up on everything. Wonderful pictures, Ruth. It looks like a great time was had by all. Brutermom, glad the program is going well. The number on the scale is just one part. Welcome, Scared! Everyone here is very supportive and uplifting. It’s a great place to read and post.
I got the “promotion” at work, which was really my old job that they had demoted everyone from and then rehired some people at a lower pay grade. So, happy I got it, but feels weird because not everyone that should be in this position is in it. There are hard feelings. Not at me because I got it but more at the ongoing ill-will the way the restructuring has been handled.
Thankfully, I’m able to sweat away my stress. Still plugging away. Running is getting back to where it used to be but is still not there and the progress is slow. I had my first mammo since the diagnosis. Righty looks good, healthy. Herceptin on Wed and I see the MO. Hoping to be down 2 more lbs by then. I don’t get on the scale more than once a week and Wed is weigh in day. Fingers crossed

It looks like a fabulous time in Daytona. I love St Augustine. Wish I was there - especially since the weather has turned quite cold now. We had a lot of snow in the air yesterday, but it did not really stick.
My exercise to report this week is a cold evening walk with my husband Wednesday night which only gave me a wicked sinus headache, and then an hour of mowing lawn and leaves on Thursday. Today was flu shot day for my son and I, so I think I am relaxing today - you know my body needs to work at building immunity . My son led me into temptation and we stopped at the new Bundt Cake store. Half a mini carrot and half of a mini lemon later, I am feeling not so great. I haven't had that much sugar in a long time! I'll actually be glad to get back on the wagon.
-
Hi Scared67; welcome. Love the photos, Daytona ladies! Looks like a great trip. Cdv- glad to hear you're slowly building toward before. And glad to hear of the clear mammo.
I too have had a slow but steady return. Today at yoga class I did my first arm balance, crow pose, in over a year. Class was crowded but I still gave a yee ha for landing that pose. Perhaps that isn't very yogic of me, but I hope the universe won't mind.
Way to go all you strong women!
-
Today I took a boxing class. Which is called Battle and Burn. It was quite interesting. It requires that you use every muscle in the body and it was fun. I didn't think I would like it. I think I am going to do another month of this program. I am really seeing results and I beginning to have a lot more energy. I feel like I am finding my old self.
-
That's great, Brutersmom!

I need a kick in the b*tt. My operated toe is still too sore to wear shoes comfortably, so I am stuck inside. Pilates club membership is on hold until toe heals. I have been doing nothing physical for a whole week now, even though I could probably easily do upper body exercises at home, maybe even try the exercise bike wearing socks. Just can’t seem to shake my laziness.
-
Morning ladies! I am just a little over a week out since my last chemo. Got in 5 workouts this past week, some run/walks on treadmill, yoga and yoga strength and a couple Jillian Michaels 30min videos. Slogging thru, it is hard to think where I was before all this started but that also makes me want to work that much harder. Tomorrow I start the 5 wk holiday running/exercise challenge I signed up for. So excited for it..the $25 fee goes to an organization called Heart Strides. It's an online challenge and this is my 3rd year participating. The schedule is very doable and main idea is to keep moving over the upcoming holidays. I have a goal of running in my favorite half marathon again next May so very important to get moving now and start building a good base before training would start in Feb! This week I am going to get signed up for an after cancer training program at my gym. I will get 3 free sessions with trainer. I cancelled my membership last spring but will be joining again in Dec now.
Loved the pictures from Daytona...looks warm and fun! Hope everyone had a great time!
Brutersmom...awesome job! That class sounds fun and so does the jumpstart program. Love trying new classes at the gym.
Scared...Welcome! I just joined this group as well. I agree. Being able to run and exercise thru all of this was my life saver! Gave me a sense of normalcy.
Tessu..sometimes we all need a kick in the butt!
Hope that toe heals fast. I have broke a couple toes over the years...no fun!
Hi to all! Keep up the good work ladies...very motivating for us newcomers!
-
hi all and welcome Scared67! Great vacation and thanks for the pix, Ruth. Got back late Friday night and spent Saturday unpacking and napping then went to a fundraiser for our local volunteer fire department.
Sore feet are the pits. I noticed a flat footprint on a morning beach walk so going to have to see my doc. I overdid one year at Relay for Life and have had a mildly sore left foot for a while. Now add the runners toe and I'm missing activities to recuperate.
Lots of eating, drinking, and walking last week. Tried out the resort fitness center for weights one day. Will hit the gym this afternoon, maybe during the Packers game. It's usually pretty quiet then. Happy Sunday!
-
Runnermum, are you doing your challenge through train like a mother? Love that group, if so. I was doing a 2nd heart rate training group when I was diagnosed last year. I hope to get back to one of their programs in the spring after my next surgery.
-
CDV...Yes!! Love the TLAM too! I have done a few Stride groups and half marathon training groups as well. I was actually in one of the full groups last spring when I was diagnosed. But a nagging hamstring injury from my fall half made me drop down to hoping to run the half instead. Then came my diagnosis and biopsies and I ended up not running anything.
Am thinking about the heart rate half program for next spring. Did you like it?
PS I was one of the breast cancer runners they interviewed for their October blog "On Wednesdays We Wear Pink"
-
OK I just did 15min on the exercise bike, very easy level, just to get the blood flowing and make a start back to a daily exercise habit. Used slippers because shoes don’t fit my toe yet and soaked the (open) wound right afterwards, so should be ok. Also got some stretching and bending in earlier, doing five loads of laundry. Feel a lot less guilty.
Hope you all enjoy your Sunday

Hey all,
Feeking sluggish this morning. Had my first infusion of Taxotere on Thursday. Wasn't so bad just sluggish. I walk 10,000.00 steps per day but today not feeling it. I gained 20 pounds from chemo and my oncologists does not want me to lose it. This is the heaviest I've been in my life including pregnancy. I'm a teacher so I have to be on the move constantly. Any suggestions on exercise that is not too strenuous or just moral support.
Bert

Welcome Scared67 & Sweetybert!
Sweety, does your doctor just not want you to diet during chemo? (Which would make sense, I guess, as your whole system is already under stress already.) I, too, taught during chemo and definitely felt sluggish and BLAH. I walked and did light toning, nothing strenuous and certainly nowhere near my normal routine. Just know that whatever you do now will help you bounce back faster once you are done with treatment.
All that having fun in Daytona wore me out! I spent most of yesterday taking naps. Today I am playing catch-up, and tomorrow I will start back in my normal routine.
-
tessu, let's make a pact to do some kind of exercise tomorrow. You could do sit ups, aerobic arm exercises (keep arms moving for 20 min). I'll meet you here tomorrow b/c I need my butt kicked too!
