Haha hbcheryl, you really didn't whine much at all, you were a great roommate.

Yesterday was the first day I felt like myself, and I guess I overdid it because I feel like crap today. Got my annual mammo yesterday, and they were training a new tech. So I got poked, pulled and squeezed twice as much as normal. I really didn't mind, and actually learned a lot about taking a mammogram lol, but my boobs are sore today. Later in the evening, hubby and I went out to eat with a gift cert we had won at a silent auction ages ago. Dinner was yummy (braised short ribs), and then we went to listen to a bluegrass band. By the time I got home I went straight to bed, slept til early morning when I woke myself up coughing. My throat is sore from the coughing, so I had Hagen Daz for breakfast :) windy and rainy here today, so another date with my couch, and maybe a nap.

    1. 2Fun, wish I could get DD to go for PT for her ankle but she's too busy, she says. Pat, hope you feel better soon. KB, high 5!
    2. I am hurting from yesterday, probably from a half class of Body Combat, which I did after running 3K on the treadmill and doing weights. Then on to tango in the evening.

Just back from my lunchtime 75 minute yoga class...it means taking a 2 hr lunch break so I have to make up for it on the other ends of the day, but today was my favorite instructor so very happy.

This makes 2 weeks now of back to 3 exercise classes/week since exchange, this week Tues/Wed/Thurs...I am 10weeks post-op as of tomorrow.

    Hi All,

Ruth - Yup - I've been writing things on my hands for a long time now!! It's bad when I can't read what I wrote on them though...haha!!

hbcheryl - What's Grit Strength like? Is it easier than the Grit Pylo? My gym offers both the Strength and the Pylo versions of Grit. I'm too chicken to go back to Grit Pylo but have been curious about Grit Strength!!

TrmTab - That's awesome on being back on track with your regular exercise classes!!!

2FUN - Good for you on motivating your student to do his PT!!!

Heidihill - Your workout sounds great!! What's Body Combat like? That class is, also, offered at my gym. But, after attempting the Grit Pylo - I'm feeling shy about trying something else that sounds daunting!

Tessu - I love the exercise bike...glad your toe is better!!

    Hello - to everybody else!!

I had a very nice sweaty hour on the stationary bike yesterday! Have been thinking about trying more classes - but - very afraid of not being able to do them after my Grit Pylo experience but - at the same time - have been curious about trying them...

    Good job, everyone!

Scared, try the classes. What's the worst that can happen? You might find out you hate a class (which is a good thing to know),or you might like it....in which case you might be ready for it, or ready for it with modifications, or not ready for it but then it can be something to work towards!

I subbed today, took the grandpuppies for a short brisk walk (it is COLD here!) and just did a 30 minute pilates DVD. Now I have to clean up because my next stop is a murder mystery play at the high school.

Badger, great job on the weight loss. And Octogirl, happy to know things are progressing for you. Glad to hear everyone's getting to Pump and Grind class, oops, not sure that's the right phrasing.

I've been going to regular yoga classes and practicing at home as well. My DD is heading home from college as she has off for the week- yay- she'll be here tomorrow! Time to read my little ds a bedtime story. Good night everyone!

    Re; Hard exercise classes.

Just tell the instructor before class that you are new and coming off of some medical stuff. You are OK and you might need help with modifications. I tell them I am a PT and I know what to do so don't worry about me. They are usually pretty good and don;t make me feel like an idiot. Most classes are too hard for me at 4 months post last surgery, but the easy exercise is too easy, so you need to do the hard classes but pace yourelf and sit out /modify as needed.

tessu: That's great that your infected toe fits into your shoes.

Pat: Hope you start to feel better soon (and your boobs, too).

Heidi: Wow! No wonder you're hurting today. But I bet the tango was fun.

Trmtab: That's awesome! Keep up the good work.

Scared: Ruth gave you good advice. I remember when she posted about thinking she wouldn't like yoga. That is, until she took a class and now it's part of her routine.

Falconer: Have a wonderful week with your dd!

    2FUN: Good advice!

Walk/ran today under a cool 68 degree Carolina blue sky.

To more classes this week. Both are strength classes. I have really like my 21 day Jump Start. The class I feared most was the one I found most exhausting but liked it the best. Can't wait to do it again Saturday. I have met some great people and love the coaches. Did a personal training class today. They are the most challenging becuase it is all about you. It is so motivating to see all the positive and encouraging sharing. Helps to keep us motivated.

    Evening ladies!

Tessu..glad to hear your toe is healing! I broke mine once, they can take a while!

Wonderland: so jealous of your "cool" 68*! ;)

2Fun: great advice! When I try a new class at gym I always go early, meet the instructor, tell them I am new and get any special instructors. I have never had a problem with an instructor but just makes me feel less anxious about taking the class.

Falcon: enjoy your time with DD. It's always nice to have them home!

Ruth: It was frigid today! That wind is horrible! You are a busy lady, that's awesome! Love the pic of the walking ladies at the high school!

Scared: I agree..try the class! I had a hard time when I first joined my gym going to new classes but after a bit I just didn't care anymore. You realize there are always others in the same boat as you!

TrmTab: 75 min of yoga sounds wonderful!

Hi to everyone I missed! Won't let me go back a page with out losing everything I have typed! I have had a great week of exercise and workouts...have ran, strength trained, and yoga this week! So far haven't missed a day of my challenge. Today it was 50 min of yoga, 15 min of circuit/strength and we also walked in the pancreatic cancer awareness walk downtown this evening. Tomorrow I will be running on treadmill again.

Terrific to read how active everyone is! Falconer, have fun with DD! HeidiHill, dancing and running - inspiring! Wonderland, DH is doing much better this 2nd week post-pacemaker placement. Tessu, good to read you are feeling better. Cheryl, been busy with work catch-up?

I agree with trying classes and letting the instructor know you are new, yet some classes are completely high cardio intensity - that is the main focus, what Grit is about. Grit instructors are excellent at offering motivation, give modifications and at the same time, it's a jumped up atmosphere. In Les Mills classes, it's press play on the music and go, the class rarely stops to rest, no one is singled out and the instructor offers general modifications - when they pause and see it. So one has to listen and hear for modifications in the scripting and over the loud music that is not easy if you are new. It takes a few classes to get used to the structure. Specialist classes tailored for bc (such as Pilates or yoga) or the YMCA LiveStrong program is an excellent place to start if in active treatment or completed, particularly if you have not exercised for sometime. Lot's of thought and training goes into these special classes and offers a safe, effective starting point, especially if grappling with the newness of lymphedema or self conscious, and I sure was when I went back to the gym. Been a busy week for me. Just started Christmas shopping, online, due to all the black Friday sales starting early - nice. Have a terrific start to the weekend everyone!

Lilacblue, thanks for the heads up on the early Black Friday sales.

Scared, I have never tried GRIT so don't know how it compares to Body Combat. I think Body Combat is a longer class. It incorporates punches, jabs, kicks and core or leg workouts with music. I preferred Body Jam which was real dancing but they took it off the schedule. I loved Body Jam but when I first took a class, I had to say it wasn't for my knees. I did Zumba instead. In the meantime a trainer gave me some tips to strengthen my knees and I did as he suggested and was eventually able to take the class.

After a rest day yesterday, doing Body Combat again today.

I subbed again today & stayed after correcting tests & putting them in the grade book (the teacher I was in for the last two day was having some medical procedures, so I wanted to get as much off the desk as possible). The fitness center just started a Friday 5:30pm Zumba class, so I went to that (what a party girl!!) and am now listening to our high school volleyball's tournament games on the radio. If they win tonight, they will be in the championship tomorrow, but they are having a hard battle.

Physical therapy today was tough, but in a good way. I can now pedal all the way around on a (stationary) bicycle, so I did ten minutes of that and a lot of leg lifts and other various exercises good for the replaced knee. I am only 3 degrees from the bended goal on my new knee, yay for that! Definitely have some sore spots tonight though....

octogirl, congrats on a full revolution of the bike. I remember when I did ortho PT I was much younger torturing people the age I am now!LOL

Got home while it was still light and raked leaves for 30 min, mowed lawn 30 min. Not great, but not bad.

Brutersmom: Your 21 day Jump Start sounds great! Have a good workout in exercise class tomorrow.

Runner: Way to go with your Challenge!

Lilac: Good news about your dh. May he continue to improve daily.

Heidi: That trainer did you and your knees a good service.

Ruth: Good luck to your volleyball players.

    Octo: How wonderful!!!

FUN: I think raking for 30 minutes and mowing for another 30 minutes is great!

Hi All! The exercise I got today was lifting cases of nut and candies for our Girl Scout Service Unit Nut and Candy sell. We divided the order up into troop orders. Lots of lifting and bending.

Wonderland, that reminds me of my first exercise class LOL. Remember this from Romper Room?

octogirl, so good to read of your recovery. Everyone is doing great. I haven't been to the gym all week. Didn't want to get anyone sick, and it's hard to pant when you can't breathe! But better today and need to go sweat. I have three more personal training sessions yet this year and want to take full advantage.

Going to catch up on all of the posts over Thanksgiving. I photographed the Atlanta 2-Day again last weekend. This year my DS walked the Sunday 10 miles with a team of teens. Very proud of him.

Good job on the PT, Octo!

We are on the other side of the raking season around here.

    Great job, DS of Scottie!

I went to yoga this morning, came home & started cleaning the house before I could sit down & talk myself out of it. Our volleyball team did win in quite thrilling fashion & are in the State Championships tonight. Since DH & I follow sports, and our town rarely makes it to a championship game, and it's being played only 100 miles away, AND since there is neither ice nor snow on the road.....we are going to drive over later today & cheer on the team. I'll report back tomorrow.Happy Saturday!

I find it motivating to read what every one does each day. Today I had my 3 week 21 Day Jump start evaluation. Lost .6 pounds over all but my waist is down an inch and my arms are down an inch. I would say that the program worked. Today I did Battle and Burn a program that is a mix of boxing, exercise and self defense all in one. I have been a Realtor for 30+ years and it seems that there are more and more dangers in the world of showing homes. I plan to continue with this class for a while.

Fun. I think raking leaves and mowing the lawn is great exercise.

Days of Thunder was on cable tonight. The ending is @Daytona 500 so watched as we were just there!

Scottie, your DS is terrific! Good work Butersmom, wonderful result. Called my older sis yesterday afternoon as she is in Tempe AZ to participate in Ironman. We will track her progress online today as I have her number. I'm not cut out for that type of grueling living life to the fittest! DH and I are going to afternoon Sunday lunch where Pink Pilates would like to have their Christmas Morning Coffee. I'm on a check-it-out mission but first, dashing off to Pilates at the spa. Enjoy your Sunday everyone!

Seems like 'crazy busy' is my mantra lately. Got in late Monday night from the Daytona trip. My trip ended with a road trip with DD and her dog from Daytona to Baltimore so I was later getting home than most of the ladies. Pulled in the drive at 11:30PM and got to bed around 1am. Worked Tuesday but was too beat to consider working out. Unpacked my bags and played couch potato for the evening. Wednesday I did body sculpt after work then skipped choir practice to get some laundry started but kinda sorta was a couch potato again. Thursday I felt great, did body sculpt and turbo kick after work. No workout Friday. No workout yesterday, but my mom and sister took me out for lunch to celebrate 5 years cancer free (as of 11-5-17). Picked up some cute short boots to wear with leggings as well as a couple of Christmas presents too while I was in the big city. Caught up on my fave Starz series Outlander last night. Today was church, then dug in on way overdue housework. Took a break to balance checkbook, pay bills, and bag Avon order that came on Friday (my second job). Still more housework to do as well as grocery shopping and a few Avon deliveries (to folks who don't mind me stopping by on a Sunday once in a while).

Be strong my sculpted sisters :)

Cold weather, a move at work, open enrollment research (OMG what stress) have been interfering with exercise this week. I did manage one walk a couple of days ago and two walks today. I started outside but the wind was so cold that after 20 minutes I decided I would go to the mall and walk. So 50 minutes there. Santa is already at the mall and yes, some of the sales have already started.

Congrats, Brutersmom, and congrats, Sweet on your five years.

Finally think my cold is behind me. Leaving tomorrow for DC to celebrate Thanksgiving with family (hate the drive but love being with family) - so busy day today, finish packing, last minute chores, hair appt., and doctors appt., etc. Not much exercise happening here, spent one day doing yard work for an hour, but that's about it. Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving, and will catch up with you next week.
