Dogs definitely motivate because they love to walk. Cute walking buddies, Ruth
Patoo, glad your sis's surgery went well. Karen hugs to you and your mom as you travel this difficult road.
Heidi thanks for the cerg links. i feel I need to do strength moves more consistantly.
Psheep hard to believe you have snow when its been unusually warm here in Chicago. I still have flowers blooming. I would love to see your snowy treks.
As you may have heard, ha ha, the CUBS WON THE WORLD SERIES! It is one happy, fun place right now running high on Adrenaline and not much sleep. I did manage to get in two 30 minute walks this week and then quite a bit of informal walking downtown this week. Today i should get in more. Here is just one celebratory item- the lions outside the Art Institute donning their cub hats.
-
Congratulations to the Cubs! What an exciting time & so nice of Mother Nature to cooperate for all of the parade & all the outdoor celebrations.
I am going to POUND this morning & plan to bring my old lady friend, whom I have coffee with every Saturday afternoon, outside for a little fresh air......too nice to be inside!
-
Weather was beautiful yesterday in Washington DC also, so after my meetings I walked three miles around the Mall, with a quick peek into the Natural History Museum....

Using sis at excuse for lazy, do-nothing, day today. She really is okay if I wanted to leave her alone for a few hours. Have wedding party (not really a reception) to attend this evening. Two 65+ folks who dated back in their 20's, subsequently married others and reconnected about 2 years ago. Sweet story. Can't say there is anyone I dated in my 20's that I would want to marry were we to meetup again.
Should head over to the pool but, nope, maybe tomorrow.
Later sculpted friends.
-
I will be living vicariously through all of you. Just had my prophylactic left mastectomy with bilateral tissue expander placement on 11/3. Can't wait to get back to my daily walking of 1-2 miles.... The deconditioning is what I dreaded the most!
-
Logang, heres to a smooth and speedy tecovery for you.
Patoo, I think there would be a couple of people I knew in college I would reconnect with, but not any of the ones I actually dated!
i made up a lot of walking today. Two trail hikes totalling 85 minutes. i took the dog round one, then later I went to another trail hoping to see better fall color. Gorgeous weather again- 68 and sunny.
-
Glad your surgery is behind you Lorang. Hoping you can get back to walking soon.
Neat wedding story, patoo!
-
Cute dogs Ruth and Logang, welcome and soon back out running, Octogirl, like your dispatch from DC, TwoHobbies, inspiring me to trail walk today. Had a early class yesterday morning, visited a friend who fell a few weeks back, dislocated shoulder and now needs surgical repair, then enjoyed a lazy day as it was Bonfire Night (quasi holiday of fireworks and bonfires) and also my birthday. Very low key, stayed around the shanty, baked a homemade chicken pot pie, because DH has bronchitis in his right lobe-yuck.
-
Karen, rest well! Patoo, Anytime Fitness sounds great. Cheryl, saw that Grit has come to my gym. But they are charging 10 bucks a pop. Maybe it's just a test run. Twohobbies, cute pic of the lion Cubs fan. Poopysheep, that's a lot of activity. Wish I had your stamina. As for swelling, you'll most likely be fine but just in case, here's a link on exercising and lymphedema
https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/58/topics/801453
I have to be more disciplined about exercise as I seem to be taking a lot of rest days. Going to yoga in a bit.
-
hi all and welcome THDailey and poopysheep. Best wishes Logang for a speedy recovery.
Been off the board this week. Catching up at work plus watching late-night baseball games (yay Cubbies!).
Absolutely phenomenal weather this wkend. Walked yesterday aft and this morn. May go out again this aft.
-
took me DAYS to recover energy after San Antonio! Have taken too many rest days and am way behind on c25k training. That being said I did work out Thursday morning and managed 2, count 'em, TWO 10-minute running segments which I was really happy with!
Off the wagon Friday morning, yesterday was what I'm sure we're thousands of steps 'puttering' around d the house all day. Heading out shortly for a long hike with grandpuppy and best girlfriend Janiece.
Welcome all nubes , we're so happy you found us!
-
I was bored with my toning DVDs so found some online & did 45 minutes of various ones (some of which were quite good).
-
Welcome: Poopysheep! There's got to be a good story behind your username.
Logang: Glad your surgery is behind you and hope your recovery is quick and uneventful.
Ruth: Stella is growing!
TH: Congratulations to the CUBS!
LB: Happy Birthday to YOU!!! Hope your dh gets better soon. I've never heard of Bonfire Night - sounds like fun!
Badger: I'm loving our weather also! The forecast is full of beautiful days ahead.
Sweet: WTG with your running!
Hi Everybody! We had Homecoming at church today and I ate way too much. Walked/ran extra hard to work off the 2 pieces of pie I ate.
-
Happy B-day, Lilac!
Sweet I would be thrilled with ten minutes solid run.
Today I mowed my lawn 45 minutes and then a 20 minute dog walk.
-
Happy Birthday, Lilac!
-
Three nice walks today....and two of them when the sun was up!! I do NOT like this time change....my body is still on DST....I woke up at 5...well that doesn't count the 3 am , 4 am etc!!! But I stayed in bed till 7:00!!!
Felt a little better about Mom this morning when I went over to bring her antibiotic. I got a call yesterday from the ER, that the UA culture showed e-Coli. Went over later in the afternoon and reality hit again. She really can't transfer in and out of her electric scooter and her recliner by herself. Going to a presentation on palliative care on Friday and I'm hoping that this will help.
Back to the work week tomorrow!!!
-
Happy Birthday Lilac. Wonderland, isn't it sinful to have food at church? Okay, guess I'm making that up but it should be. I always eat too much.
Trying get back on exercise bandwagon. Helps with mysunshines WATP 5-mile walking group on Sunday and my own on Tuesday. Tomorrow is water aerobics but not sure will make it. Morning temps supposed to only be low-60's. Pool is heated to about 82 but then you have to get out! Maybe will ride my bike early and swim in afternoon. We'll see.
Night sculpted friends.

It's inspiring to hear how well you are all doing with your exercises. But right now I am feeling the cold and wind and rain and I don't want to go outside to do my running. I'm think I must either join a gym or put some videos on. Boo hoo. Roll on Spring.
-
Lilac, belated happy birthday!!! Sorry I missed your post yesterday. Hope DH feels better soon. Logang, a speedy recovery from surgery to you!
We were too late for yoga class so DD and I did our regular workout at the gym. 20 minutes cardio and 20 minutes strength training and stretching.
-
Oh Karen, sorry to hear the latest update on your mother. Blinkie, are ya out there? No worries HeidiHill and thank you lovely ladies of the sculpted kind - always so very thoughtful. DH did roll to London this morning and I think it would have been best if he stayed in bed, but nope~sigh. Just printed off lesson plan for this mornings pink pilates class. We have added light hand weights and resistance bands to the mat pilates . This is my 3 class day so off I go.
-
Subbing this afternoon & Zumba & yoga tonight.
Ladies who are in America, if you haven't already done so; don't forget to vote tomorrow!
-
Here is a photo taken on my long walk around the Mall around my recent trip to DC. Being in DC is always such a great reminder about how important participation in government is, and I echo Ruth's comment: please get out and vote!
Since getting home Saturday my primary exercise, besides recovering from jet lag, has been heavy house cleaning to get ready for Thanksgiving, which I am hosting this year. My fridge hasn't looked this clean in years! :-)

Great pic of Washington Monument. Way back when it was allowed I walked down from the top!
Ran 25 laps in the pool and then swam another 5 laps (I only recently took swim lessons so that is a big accomplishment!)
Yes my friends, if you did not do early/absentee voting please get out tomorrow and vote. Your voice counts.
Night sculpted friends.
-
47 treadmill minutes before work with two 11-minute runs (5mph pace) included. Having g a magical Moment right now watching g grandpuppy create her own fun with a little ball on the linoleum floor - too cute!
-
Walked/ran this afternoon before it got dark at 5:30
Glad I already voted bc it's going to be a very busy day tomorrow at the polls!
-
Patoo, I remember walking down the Washington Monument in the early 70's and getting into my VW Beetle and my leg was trembling on the clutch!!!! Even if it was allowed today, not sure I could do it...of course I'm not as young as I was in 1973!!!
I do NOT like this time change....it feels so much later than it is at night and then in the morning I'm up way too early!!
I got 2 very nice compliments today that were shared with my boss...Need to print them off to keep!! Sure helps with my sense of self.
-
This time change is kicking my you know where!!! I am so tired...Falling asleep watching TV at 8:00!! The older I get the long it seems to take my body to adjust. Last night I went to bed an hour earlier than I normally do. I think the same will happen tonight. Sweet dreams!
-
LB Happy Belated Birthday.
Just finished filling out my ballot that I will take to the polling place and drop off tomorrow, after reading and trying to understand then researching all the propositions I feel I could take the bar exam.
I have a houseguest so my gym time has been limited but I did go to Body Step yesterday and Cardio Dance Party tonight. LB I found out today that the new 24 which is opening near my house in December is going to be trialing LM Vinyasa don't know if it will make the cut but it sounds interesting. Heidi when they brought Grit here they tried charging for it but it didn't work so they gave it to the gyms as part of their package, I would recommend if you decide to try to do Strength - the Plyo is very jumpy and the Cardio is well Cardio but you get a good Cardio workout in Strength as your heart rate spikes as you do the bar work.
I am tired as the time change is starting to catch up with me on Sunday I was a bundle of energy but tonight I feel like a wet mop. -
Happy belated Birthday, LB!
I will vote after work tonight. May have to stand on line but I don't mind. DH and I will go out for supper then home to watch election results. We are on opposite sides of the political aisle this fall so are limiting ourselves to one margarita apiece, to keep the peace, but it may be a LARGE one. ;-)
Crazy busy yesterday (lunch was an apple and a handful of almonds) but did get in a 7th inning stretch.
-
Thank you sculpted women for the B'd day wishes! Cheryl, interesting about the LM Vinyasa and I'm covering yoga tomorrow morning with BB. Hoping to wake with the thrill of Madame President!
