Beautiful Halloween night to sit outside in 65 degree weather and hand out candy. We had lots of trick or treaters. I placed a strobe light in Mr. Milkbones and hung him from a tree. He looked scary but safe at the same time.

My exercise today has been grocery shopping (I know that's not really exercise) and eating my Halloween candy (jaw workout).

we had very few kids. DH and I went for walk around 7:15 and didn't see many kids out. We had 3 groups come to the door, less than 10 kids. After our walk, I turned the lights back on and left the candy outside by the front door. Didn't hear the dogs bark so don't know how many kids came to the door and saw the candy, but only 1 piece was left.

    Warmest Halloween in 70 years

Sorry . . . disappeared for a bit there but I'm still running. I'm up to 7.5 miles now but I walk/run it. My breathing has been difficult for me but I keep going :)

I love all the beautiful pictures posted here. Keep 'em coming.

Looked into Pound (terrific workout) training happening at Brighton at the end of the month, the problem is that the music is not PPL free, meaning I have to pay a license fee each time I teach a class (village hall, church hall etc..) using the Pound iTunes downloads therefore cannot teach it at the gyms (most large franchise gyms refuse to pay PPL license losing far too much £ to do so. it's per class, I think it up to £1.49 each for me in halls, almost £300 a year for 3 classes a week inc. VAT) I work at because my freelance contract states only PPL free music - the Les Mills releases I buy are cover not original artists. UK is similar to Australia in that area of music rights and don't think these fitness industry music rights laws exists in the US. Could be wrong... do you know Cheryl?

This is my exercise down day and off to clean the pantry as the dryer fix it man is coming.

Edited to add: We had fun class yesterday at Pink Ribbon Pilates. One woman wore her wig and she had tx a few years back and sports a full head of hair yet wanted to show us how good it looked .It was a good one via NHS. Quite a few tried it on and we had some good belly laughs, I wore orange, black and a spider hat thingy, another made a pumpkin costume, so we laughed our way through class chatting of recent films, US elections, etc..- nice when it's like that.

Got in a 5k run yesterday when the sun came out between rainstorms. We ended with record rainfall for October. I ended up not going into the office as a major project due plus an early am conference call. So I felt justified taking an hour in the mid afternoon to enjoy the sunshine.

I chatted with a lady last night who asked me "where do I run"? Well, the walking trails are one of the great perks of living here. Amazing that you wouldn't know this. The whole top of the hill has miles of them to explore which I will do one day. Perhaps on my hybrid bicycle as people go out and do this all the time.

On Saturday, I attended Day 2 of a symposium on Survivorship at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. It was for medical practitioners, but was able to watch the lectures on the monitor. Exercise was the big one everyone was talking about so we are in the right place. The nutritionist talked about "overall eating patterns" as opposed to specific diets or foods, although they did mention DASH and Mediterranean as proven beneficial. One interesting tidbit is that acupuncture appears to be more effective than gabapentin in managing hot flashes...this from a clinical study.

Getting back to exercise, the biggest cause of premature death among early stage breast cancer survivors is heart disease. Not from cardiotoxicity (although a few happen this way), but from deconditioning post treatment. The results of deconditioning have been measured all sorts of ways. Exercise interventions typically take about 4 months to show results.

(They left off the benefit of being able to rock a leather mini skirt, or bragging rights to completing endurance events.)

There is more, but very well worth my time to attend. And heartening to see that the long term needs of cancer survivors are finally being addressed.

Happy All Hallows Day!!!! - Claire

p.s. Just got a "countdown to Black Friday" email from Amazon. Will be joining REI to "Opt Outside" instead. Much better for you, not to mention your wallet. Hoping to ride on Thanksgiving Day as well.

Subbed all day today, took the grand-dog for a walk (it is unusually mild around here), and went to yoga. Yeouch, my heel is really hurting from all my San Antonio walking!

ruthbru, pad of my right foot still hurts but only when I put on sneakers which I had to do for my WATP 5-mile class this evening. Wearing a sandal with a heel helps. Still looking for a place for a good foot massage. Had body massage today but they don't really hit the feet too much. I want just the dedicated foot/leg massage. Not sure when will get chance to take time out for that. Sister having hip replacement tomorrow morning so I will be 24/7 caretaker most of the time for awhile. We do have 2 good friends nearby who will help out when needed.

Had annual mammo today - NED!! Yay.

Have to get sis to hospital by 6:45am (it's only about 20 mins away) so night sculpted friends.

short on steps today. Over slept so only got a short walk before work. Then I had an emergency with my mother. When her morning aid came god she found mom on the floor. Don't know how long she was there but fell out of bed, no details cuz mom doesn't remember. Aid pressed mom's medic alert button the the squad came and helped put mom into bed. I got that call at 9:15 this morning. Called mom and she said she was okay, but I figured she just didn't want to talk. Went about my day at work. Around noon the home health are agency called me and said mom's leg was all black and blue and I needed to go check on her. Her aid I sent only there's a couple hours in the morning. I need the elevator and saw the aid and she told me mom fell asleep soon after she was helped onto the bed I got there around 1:00 and she was still sleeping She didn't wake up till 5:30 Her evening aid gets there around 6 I stayed till she left at 8:00 I got mom something to eat and she helped with changing the linens and mom . Needless to say I'm extremely worried and not sure next steps Mom has a degenerative neurological disease. My son is so sweet. He got me flowers He has such a good heart.

Didn't really eat lunch today, string cheese and some chips and didn't eat dinner till 8:30. I went for a walk at 9:00 cuz I needed the fresh air!!!!

    Thanks for listening.

Congratulations Heidi, doing the "happy dance" for you.  You're right LB they are different here, we do have lots of covers but a lot of "real" artists let their music be used, probably the most prominent two are Pink and Katy Perry.  Karen thinking of you as you navigate these hard days with your Mom.

I typed a big blurb on sunday and my ipad froze so nothing posted ughhh.  I have to be honest I've only been to the gym once since I got back from San Antonio. I went straight from the airport to my office for a couple of hours on Thursday night, Friday night I went to a Body Pump filming and I swear if I hadn't committed before SA I probably wouldn't have gone, Saturday was house cleaning and sunday I worked trying to catch up and get a head start on the week and it's been crazy since then but I'm finally caught up.  Patoo do you have a "Little Saigon" area down there as that's where you'll find the foot massage places, I have to say my feet are just fine but if you notice in all the photos I wore Orthaheel flip flops most of the time, they were recommended by my Podiatrist and I can walk for miles in them as I can't stand closed in shoes.  And yes Badger and I did enjoy our walking tour, we saw all the same sights but at a nice snails pace.

Had my doctors appointment this morning but I was so mad by the time I got in there I forgot to ask why my mammogram results took so long, I had an 8.15am appointment and didn't get in till 9.30am, he apologized but by that time I was grumpy but I did get my flu shot and my prescriptions renewed, I have to have blood work in January so I'll make a note and ask him then.

Patoo congratulations on your mammo results and hope your sisters surgery went well, and if you lose another 10lbs we won't be able to find you Winking Sweet and Ruth enjoy your grand puppies they'll get you out and about.  I have promised an instructor friend that I will go to her class tonight so I have to stay out of the recliner when I get home cause last night I had grand plans but once I hit that "recline" button it was all over I woke up at 8pm Loopy

Hi all, sister's surgery went okay. She was supposed to get up and walk this afternoon but was very dizzy and nauseous so they put it off until tomorrow. Drugs should be out of her system by then. I did slip away and play 2 hours of pickleball while she was in surgery so it worked out well. hbcheryl, probably no Little Saigon nearby but will definitely see if there is one within a 60 minute radius! Yes, I will drive that far, once in a while at least, if I can find one. May also look into the Orthaheel flip-flops although my foot pads only hurt in sneakers. May just need new walking and tennis shoes actually as all the ones I have now are worn.

Been up since about 5:45am so drowsiness starting to take over. Night sculpted friends.

Welcome THDailey, great job. Patoo glad the surgery is over hope she'll feel better in the morning once the anesthesia is out of her system. LB do you have Spotify over there, most of the spin instructors I know use that for their playlists and they choose the extended versions of the songs.

Well I went from zero to 100 in the exercise game tonight. Kept my word and went to a spin class then when I came out looked at my phone and I had a message from a master trainer I know and he wanted to know if I would come take Sprint with him because he needed to practice as he's presenting at a super Q this weekend in North Carolina so off I went and did the new Sprint wow a total sweat fest, I thought my heart would beat out of my chest and my legs would fall off.

Another long day! On the way home from work I got a call that Mom had fallen and she couldn't get up. I was only 5 minutes from her apt. Went over and talk to the home health care manager. Decided to take Mom to ER as she was saying her groin was hurting and she was having more memory issues. Thank goodness no broken hip. UA was not clear, do they are culturing it. Will know in a couple days. I didn't get home 10 pm. Dinner was some tortilla chops and melted cheese and a couple spoons of ice cream. I am spent!!! Mom kept apologizing to me that I had to spend your time sitting. Just grateful it wasn't any other than her darn neurological disease called PSP whicj is progressive. She will continue to decline

Air fares keep going up! Should have bought the ticket last week!! 🙁

    Time to get some sleep

Welcome and well done, THDailey, walk including reps - excellent! Patoo, super mammo results and wish your sis a speedy recovery. Karen, it is hard with aging parents - take good care. Cheryl, yes to Spotify and it's the change of beats too. Yesterday interviewed for cover work (now have three classes booked to sub over next few weeks) and part-time GP3 position at local leisure centre, and she told me I was the 2nd instructor to mention POUND. Even though they pay themusic license, they would not consider putting POUND on their schedule. Regarding teaching in village halls, most likely no one would come out here in the hinterlands and check PPL licenses for those classes (the big gyms they do). I also know of a number of LM BB/Flow instructors who teach several classes weekly in village halls on the quiet (no LM licenses), calling it Zendy-Bendy, Zen Exercise, Zen Flow, etc..teaching current LM release or mix-up and have Facebook pages announcing as such. One instructor told me it was embarrassing on the opening tai chi track before it starts to hear: Welcome to your Les Mills workout.. Nice early morning WWW photo Ruth!

Didn't get to my workout last night. Was really tired, hadn't slept well the night before. Walked to the pharmacy near my bit ago, twice. Hubby reminded me this morning that we are out of Advil, so I told him I would go get some this morning. So when I knew it was open I headed down. Cheapest bottle I found was about $5. So I didn't get it. Texted hubby to tell him about it and headed home. Got back to get a text from hubby to get it. So I headed back down and got the Advil and then head home again.

So with all of this, I probably will do a shorter workout tonight

Karen: So sorry to hear about your mother. I know she is thankful you are there for her.

Patoo: Glad your sister's surgery went fine. Hope today has been a good one for her.

Cheryl: You really did go from 0 to 100!

    Ruth: Love your WWW picture.

M0mmy: I bet you needed that Advil after all the trips to the pharmacy!

Beautiful weather here in FL as well. Not too hot and never really too cold. Thanks for wishes for my sis. They got her up walking today and expect she may be home tomorrow with in-home PT and nurse for couple weeks.

No formal exercise for me today. Intended to go over register with Anytime Fitness under my Silver Sneakers but forgot. Need to get over there to fill-in exercise when I can't get to regular classes.

    Eyes closing. Night sculpted friends.

Hi - I'm new... I have been super active for the last 5 years and today is one month post surgery for me (just a lumpectomy and SNB) I took 2 weeks off post surgery and have been trying to be conservative in getting back to my normal activity levels. I got a step counter thingy (or well i noticed my running watch does it). I've cut back drastically on my normal running volume ( i had planned to take some down time this fall anyway) so my goals are to get in my 10000 steps a day, cut my runs down to 3 or 4 days a week, and then skiing 2-3 days a week ( I live in the Canadian Rockies and running/skiing is basically like therapy and meditation all rolled into one). I went back country ski touring last weekend and it didn't bother my armpit or scarring and now that it's been a month I think I can say i probably am not going to end up with any complications. Hoping to keep up during rads... if i figure out how to upload a photo i can share some of the back country skiing cause it is truly stunning!

Hi poopysheep! Will be joining you on the ski trails in a month or so. Agree that just fabulous in Alberta and still remember the time I got to ski on Lake Louise. Unlike many, I can't wait for the snows to come so I can go skiing.

I was able to exercise during radiation, but since it was May, I was training for the summer cycling events. I didn't have my normal energy, but I was able to do 40 mile or so training rides, and then the Seattle-to-Portland Bicycle Classic within six weeks.

Staying fit is the most important thing you can do for yourself post active treatment. I posted a couple of days ago about a survivorship conference I attended last Saturday. Getting it in gear was one of the key takeaways.

Enjoy the outdoors. I can't wait to get out on my skis either. - Claire

If I had the time would get a dog as it certainly ups your step counting! Had to de-challenge a friend on fitbit because she has a dog and won't give me a handicap. ruthbru, you need to give me a handicap as well.

No formal exercise today as sister came home from hospital (doing well) so I had errands, etc. to do. Not sure about next few days, will see if I can sneak something in.
