KAK. I'm still unhinged by my 7, yes seven permanent tatoos that were applied for radiation..... the fact that you got that documented above really speaks to me. Somehow, I got there that morning without realizing that was part of the procedure -- probably as angry that NO one had thought to mention that little detail, as the act and remnant reminder???
TALENT-TUESDAY. Love it. Love it. Love it. And Kathi has started us off in style!
My blog has chronicled my 'talent' for nearly a year now. Will see if I can go snatch a pic off of there. The address is in my tagline. (Shameless marketing ploy. LOL)
Must get moving as tomorrow's the drive to PA day -- for a conference where I am a 'featured speaker' all day Thurs ........ ye haaaaa, moving up in the ranks!!
Happy cleaning, or not cleaning as the case may be.
Hugs and encouragement to all in need.
Edited to add pic, now, as we've launched a new page!! (tee hee)
This is me, on display with my work at an art gallery. The collection currated were all illustrations from children's picture books. This was at the opening celebration. All of the pieces surrounding me are my mini-quilts, quilties, that I designed and constructed. Each quilt was a two page illustration in my book. The large one in the fore ground was the backdrop used for filming my DVD (which was filmed against a green screen.)

candie... one day at a time...it'll be there waiting for you...hoping you heal quickly.
Mom2two... mmmmmm... bet you're gonna have good salad's this summer... Watermelon is my favorite! Om my goodness...I could eat that all the time... it's my chocolate chip cookies. Have you seen those upside down planters they sell on TV? I've been thinking about ordering a couple just to try them. I don't have a good super sunny spot in my yard to plant a good veggie garden...last year I kept moving my tomatoes around to catch the sun! Ha!
nancy... thinkin' about you this a.m. Let us know how your appt. goes...
-
-
holy moly- how early do you all get up?!
-
EARLY...LOL
-
UGH -YUCK -SCREAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM -They are back, We have a snake epedemic again this year, we have "Charlie" who is obviously Charleen, who last year somewhere around our foundation obviously laid her brood, as some of the little monsters ended up in the house, well she has done it again. As of last night 4 babies in the house. I can deal with this when Ed is home, well he is not now, and I am tippy toeing everywhere. As I have been reminded by this man I love so much, we don't kill snakes (unless they are poison) Charle and her clan are not, SNAKES ARE OUR FRIENDS (did I say I love this man - LOL),
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
ewww
-
Lol... I don't even like spiders in my house!!! eke!
-
OMG, Cathi!!! I assume these snakes are not poisonous. That's one thing I don't miss about visiting my mom in Florida!! Geckos sliding and skittering across the wall to wall carpet. EEWWWW! I mean, bad enough, gangs of them on the sidewalks!!
Thanks for the artistic encouragement, girls! More to come, here or on FB. I have an interesting post on the blog about other art related to our "theme." (the Accidental Amazon)
Barbe, that's really interesting about fabric and Lupus!! Wow. Makes you think, huh, Faith? Especially those of us who LOVE fabric, too.
BTW, Faith, my other rads tattoo is under my armpit. Can't believe you got 7!!!! If you connect the dots, what do they make?? I was thinking about drawing daisies around mine...
-
That's not a mast bra, BTW. One of my oldies. If I put the prosthesis in a pocket, it slides down into a lump!! Really attractive. Like I'm not already lopsided!
-
Kathi I tried the old bra prosthesis thing to, I guess it could work if I were more talented at sewing, and I guess it did for awhile -or so I thought. But yes the prosthesis does move around - mine 9because of 2) both wound up some how in the center of my chest and it looked like I had some huge growth. I always loved fancy pretty bras (even though never had much to put in them) I still have a bunch can't seem to part with them, my daughters are way better endowed than I was so can't even adopt them out.
-
Cathi I was never so glad to leave snakes behind as I was in Florida. The beautiful apartment complex we were renting had been built in the middle of a swamp I think. Gorgeous on the outside but there were even rattlesnakes huge and tiny pgymy ones to have to watch out for. Yuck and no thanks.
Besides just because last years crop were non poisonous doesn't mean this years is ok.
Faith you have to have such patience to love quilting. I made one with my mom one time and it was so huge. Still have it although the years of use are getting to it.
Arnie I'm expecting to see some more of your pieces too.
Pam I know you have talent sewing and nana too and I bet there are more of you creative ladies out there. Lets see some more. (Pretty Please with sugar on top)
-
Candie, do take care! I'm surprised you're even posting. Are you using just one hand? Don't over do it or you'll negate the surgeons work.
We just like to know you're back up reading. Remember, one little thing a day!
Faith, I've talked to about 125-150 people, but the most I've performed music in front of was a guitar solo (and singing) in front of 750 of my peers in high school! 34 years ago....WOW (I don't do music now...)
When I talk, I have a 'trunk' show and they hold up my work as I talk about it. I get a lot of laughs and that's my favourite part.
To the lawn Batman! (it's my day off - gotta rake)
-
Okay Barbe, here's the trunk now put some of your works in it and show us today.
-
Cathi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just saw your pic after I posted on the "other" page (of course!). I am speechless, and that takes a LOT!!!
I can't stand anything but my CATS in the house! (That really IS true love, but don't they have high-rises in Florida?)
-
Oh mom, the 'trunk' is one I bring full of my goodies!
Faith and I do similar work, bright colours and very detailed. I also do a lot of embellishment with beads and 'things'. LOVE it, MISS it.....
-
-
Pictures of your work not the trunk arnie! You are too funny. lol
-
Cathi sending these to you till Ed gets home to take care of those critters.
-
Yes Barbe lots of high rises/condos, but I am in a single story house, we lived in a ground floor apartment before here, right on the beach and never had a snake issue, just have this little friend Charlie (Ed named her AKA Charleen) anyway she has never attempted to come in the house via door jams or anything, and I have learned to "bang" our back door before going out as she loves to sun herself across the patio - she takes off, now the babies on the other hand, they will go anywhere, and crawl in through the smalles crack. They are black racers - just a big old garden snake I am told, I STILL HATE THEM, but again another price I must pay for paradis. Mom where you were more North - more swamps - many more snakes.
We actually get many more lizards in the house, they don't bother me at all, the cat usually plays with those for awhile, we never let her outside, so it's her taste of nature I guess.
-
Mom Love the shoes, gosh I am a shoe junkie, I would almost buy those just for fun. LOL
-
I love the lizards and like them in our room when we travel down south as they take care of the creepies that we don't want to actually see.
Great idea about banging the back door. My husband just told me to tell you to consider buying a mongoose!
-
Faith, Love the pic of you!!
Cathi, whenever we find snakes around my house, my boys like to play with them. They are kind of rough with the snakes. When they are done, the snakes find another place to live! They don't like my kids!
I love the lizards too. Last time I was in St Thomas I kept bringing them into my hotel room, DH thought I was crazy!
-
Barbe I'll run the Mongoose by Ed, not sure how Margo will do with that though -LOL. If we put mouth balls down around all the doors it seems to help, quess the babies don't like that. I asked Ed a stupid question, so how many eggs do snakes lay??? his reply 100's - Oh Joy(he could have lied about that one) he's bringing case-o-mouth-balls home today.
-
such are the things that occupy our day....
-
I'd kill myself in those heels!!! lol I like my feet flat on the ground
glad you liked the joke mom2two...ha!
-
Barbe, did you ever read a magazine called "Belle Armoire" published by Stampington & Company?
Oh, gawd, ladies, you should see this thing.....actually, I'm hoping sometime this year to start in on making a few pieces of artisan clothing...
Anyway, link at www.bellearmoire.com And check out the rest of the magazines Stampington publishes. Oh, so many crafts, so little time!!!
-
Gosh I just re-read my last post -I said MOUTH BALLS -not moth balls (I WON'T GO THERE) LOL.
I have been cleaning up some of my personal files on the computer today and I cam across this that my DD in NY sent me shortly after the MX (Mom I think I already shared it with you). Thought I would share with alll the other Great Moms we have here and wish everyone an EXTRA SPECIAL WONDERFUL MOTHERS DAY SUNDAY- XOXOXOXO
On A Wing And A Prayer
I'll never forget that fateful day
When I heard the doctors say
We have bad news, the tests are in
I suddenly lost my happy grin.
They said don't fret, but to no avail
We will get through this..we will not fail
There is no choice, we must stand tall
And beat this thing, once and for all
Three months have passed and I am weak
My body tired, my soul so bleak
I will get through this that I know
But at this moment, it does not show
I want to rest my weary fears
And pretend for a moment that I don't care
To carry them all through the day
Just makes it harder...please go away
Four months have passed and I am bright
My cheery soul shines through the night
I think I've beat this monsters grip
My strength and courage, I came equipped
Today's the day they'll tell me so
You've beat this thing...one month to go
Let's sing and dance the night away
I'm happy now...so won't you stay
I always knew right from the start
I would prevail...for I've got heart
They said don't fret...what did they know
I had to prove it was my show
I fought this beast and now I've won
Thank you mommy...said my son
I don't know what I would have done
For it was all or merely none
I' ve shown such strength and through it all
I never wavered, I stood so tall
I made it through, from there to here
All because of a wing and a prayer -
Thanks for sharing Cathi! It's beautiful and we can all relate!!
-
Okay, here are some of my pics of my craft. I've only done some close-ups so you can see detail. The first is of chicks in a nest, the second shows the detail of the stitching which is what the birds are made of.
