YUCK Barbe - how painful!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well now I can hear my mom talking to me from beyond "you should have listened to me" (typical mom -LOL) she was a seamstress all her life a big wig union leader in NY for the Seamstresses - I hated it then, I still hate it. I hated that part of Home E. in school, I passed but only because I knew I had too.
-
Cathi- love the suit and you look fabulous in it! I had gotten a new suit a few months ago when we were in Florida but now its too big on me- never even wore the darn thing. Guess I have to go out again.
, can I borrow a cup of energy for shopping?
-
Elaine! How are you doing sweetie! Even the fact you think you want to go out is a good thing...
Gentle hugs.
-
barbe... I was gonna ask you what kind of art you did...got sidetracked. How cool you had you're own store!
-
Hey Arnie
Here's a pic for you.
Lori
-
-
Arnie, I am a textile artist.
-
Did you specialize in wall art...I think that's what I saw above? Very cool...
-
so what exactly is textile artist?
Hi Barbe- actually today I am not feeling so good. Having bad joints day-feeling like really bad sore, really bruised and someone is putting pins thru them. For past few days I have also been feeling light headed/dizzy, esp when changing levels- sitting, laying down etc. See onc this week and will ask if related to weather and drugs (which I expect it is). Time to call in reinforcements (aka pain meds) and take a nap.
Hugs to all....Elaine
-
Cathi loved the swim suit. That is something I have to buy this week. Going to Maui in 12 days (not that I am counting) So I guess I have to bite the bullet and buy one. I HATE clothes shopping, rather buy shoes any day.
Elaine hope you are felling better soon((HUGS))
Oh and I did do laundry yesterday.... Broke my washing mashine so had to do it all at the in-laws. Hopefully my DH can figure out how to fix it. So I figure taking the laundry out to do should give me some time off cleaning since it is such a pin in the butt to take it out to do.

Hi Elaine,
You are probably laying down by now but I wanted to send my thoughts and prayers. I don't know about you, but when the weather gets 'nice', that's when I tend to feel my worst. The higher the barometric pressure gets, my joints feel like they are filled w/cement. Mine is due to RA not meds though. It's hard when the weather is looking so nice that everyone thinks you should feel so good. Have a wonderful nap and all the best for your visit with the onc.
Blessings,
Wendy

Feel better Elaine! Get some rest.
Barbe, I think people like you, textile artists, are so cool! I have trouble matching my jeans to a top every morning. I am terrible at knowing what to put in my house! You must be very talented!!
I've done more laundry. Also been plating up a storm! I hope we don't get another frost. $$$$ down the drain if we do!
Hello to EVERYONE!!!
-
Elaine feel better, because it didn't take a cup of energy -it took a whole pot I'll send some your way when your up to it. XOXOXOXOXOXOX
All you ladies with pretty green lawns are so lucky, right now Fla lawns are horrible, our front is good (we can water there) but the back - horrible (as you can see in the pic) but hopefully soon we will get some rain and Ed will reseed. It's just a sandy dirty mess.
-
Mom woke up with a headache this morning, too! Interesting about the good weather and bone aches....I hope you get some painfree rest Elaine.
Mom, how's your headache?
Has it stayed away? Or did you do too much today and brought it back?
Yah, I'm very talented, and modest too! Seriously though, I am a speaker at various venues on colour and textile art, etc. and the first thing I quote is something about not hiding your talent under a barrel and sharing the gift! So I think Arnie should get her own website and start selling her wood projects. Did you see them Linda? She's wonderful!
Also, Nana can draw amazingly too!! Where are you Nana?
-
Wendy & Arnie. The spring of my dx I was able to get to Detroit to walk on the Wings of Hope team. That year we had 17 survivors able to come in from all over. I'll remember it forever. I was in the midst of rads.... don't think I made the whole loop, but enough to have the sense of awe crossing the finish line with the Ford drummers pounding wildly and much applause. It's a fantastic group of gals. This year is our state early education conference at the exact same time: crummy buttons. Beware. They start the walk with a minute of silence and then a bagpipe choir playing Amazing Grace. Apparently I was captured on the nightly news, sobbing quietly.
Barbe. I just love that you're so up-front with your textile-artist label. I have such a hard time putting a label on what-on-earth I do. Perhaps I'll borrow that term for a bit, see how it fits. We should compare notes..... as I've been speaking to quilt guilds of late.
The program that I'm speaking at this week has my title as: author/illustrator/consultant and that doesn't even address the 90% of my time that is music related. LOL.
I think there's enough vim and energy in this crew to design and launch a clothing line. I say go for it!! I'll offer encouragement from the side lines...... plenty of cheering.

Oh faith,
I have tears from your post. How am I going to hear it at the walk? Last summer I went up to the park where the walkers were coming in at the end of the second of the 3 day. I sat on the picnic table and just said "thank you" with tears streaming down my face to the men and women coming in. I had planned to walk last year, had started training and getting some sponsosrs lined up when I was dx'd with DCIS in the left breast. Mast w/TUG recon was beginning of August. I knew I should have taken off that bugger when I had the right removed. Hindsight is always great.
Anyway, now with this back problem I'm not sure I could even do the 3 day but am determined to do the 5 K. I figure if I can walk to a waterfall and back that is 1.2 miles from the car that I should make it the 3 miles. I know I will pay for it over the next week but a person has to make their choices.
Thanks for the post. Speaking of quilts, I need to get going on one that will be auctioned off at a breast cancer fundraiser car show. In a moment of weakness, I raised my hand and said "I'll make one"! Me and my big mouth. At least it's only a throw. I think I'll do it in pinks and greens. I also think I need to go to the fabric store and buy some fabric for it. Could find some in my stash but where's the fun in that?
Have a great day.
Blessings,
Wendy

(((((((((((((Hugs)))))))))))))) for Elaine...sure hope you're feeling better soon...
Yes...it's always very very touching...even before I was dx. I'm sure it'll be quite emotional for us this year having lost three loved ones in 2008 to cancer...
Barbe...would be very interested to see some of your work! Do you have a website? I do it just for enjoyment...don't think I'd want to turn into a business. Who knows, but right now I'm a thinkin' it'll just be a beloved hobby.
Still busy...have done wash..did do outside of windows, made curtains and now making some throw pillows....then collapse, lol.
-
Barbe, I didn't see them. Is there a link I missed somewhere??
Wendy, I'm with you. I would cry the whole time. I cry at the commercials now! Someday I hope to move past that and actually participate!
Finished planting todays flowers!
-
What a day!! I actually worked believe it or not. Sorry for those with tears.......gentle hugs. Some days are certainly better than others.
-
No link Linda. If I ever get my act in gear, I'll take some pics. I've won all the way from Viewers Choice to Best of Show. I'm very proud of myself...I LOVE ribbons!
Faith, I talk to quilt guilds too! From Toronto all the way up to Orillia. I teach colour, as well.
Sharon, when you say "work" do you mean housework or paying job work?
-
Barbe can you post some pics of what you mean by graphic artist? In fact I think it would be fun to see each persons work. How about tomorrow we declare it creativity day and have everyone post what they do. That is if it can have a picture taken of it to be posted. So if you write, post a sample, if you paint, show us. I'm always amazed at how talented people are.
-
ooooo, I'm not a graphic artist! That's too hard! I'm a textile artist. Soft organic shapes....
-
Hey, that's me!!! Soft organic shape.
-
Okay but I still don't know what a textile artist is can you show us
-
Shiny I wish you could show us a clip of the baby birds if they are still there.
-
OMG those look like frogs!
-

Big hugs to Mom and Elaine!!! Hope you two are feeling better and have more energy now.

I'm gonna have to go to Walmart for you to get you some seltzer for that hangover you're gonna have in the morning........hehelol
Sharon---------you DID NOT clean house, did you??!!! I was gonna clean today, but after running errands I haven't had time. Also, my mother came for a visit this afternoon.
