Took dd to her first summer day camp. Hubby had to talk me into walking away. Looked more like a sports camp for guys than a little girl. She seemed thrilled with it so that made it easier. Its an all day thing so we will see how she likes it at the end. I know all the physical activity will be good for her but its a guy coach who runs the camp and I hope he remembers to give them breaks, drinks, etc. and also remembers they are little kids and not atheletes. Started to tell him that but knew hubby would cringe so I held off.

skipped all the new posts, will catch up later...
BARBE......I'm heading off for scans this morning...... Just wanted to remind you so I get my Barbe hug
Hope all are well. Any word on Saint?

Dilemma about Laundry: Is this a moral Issue?I have a problem. I hate laundry. I have always hated laundry. It was easier when I lived in an apartment and had to go the laundromat. It was so boring there, it was wonderful to finally get your clothes out of the dryer and begin folding them in neat stacks. But since I've lived in a house with its own washer and dryer, I just can't get motivated. I hate folding clothes, it is so boring. I keep getting interrupted by more interesting things and the laundry just sits on the bed in a mess most of the day while it slowly moves into neat piles. And then you have to put the piles away.Every boyfriend I ever had learned to do the learned laundry, as well as learning to love poached eggs. It was just part of life with me. My poor (wonderful!) husband works all week long and on the weekends he does the laundry. That is so sh***y!!!It's not that purposely want him to do the laundry, it's just that I forget, it's so boring and uninteresting and when I think of the weekend I think of art, music, bike rides, wonderful dinners, and OMG...yes, I hate to admit it, that awful monster...*yard work*.Ladies, what do I do about the laundry?!!!!!Miz
-
Someone suggested turning the undies and clothes inside out and wearing again... LOL. just teasing. I too hate laundry, seems like going round in a circle. Wash, wear, wash, wear, over and over again. Mine sits in the dryer until the wrinkles are set in and then do I iron or put thru the dryer again in hopes of no wrinkles. No one but me here to fold and put away, DH has been dead over 6 years. AND, most anything is more exciting than folding clothes.
-
Good Morning! Today I am going to plant more flowers. There is some dirty clothes I need to take care of too. In our household we each do our own laundry; so I'm only responsible for my own. That helps keep it from feeling overwhelming.
I think it's great that you reach out to newbies, Deb. I think I'll try to do the same. Where do you find them on the board?
-
Miz I have my struggles with the laundry too but here is what I have done in the last few months that has helped alot.
1) get rid of excess towels, clothes etc. Too much just makes the pile overwhelming to get through. Plus you are helping others who really need what you can give away. Bet you never miss the extra either. I haven't.
2) I use to put in huge loads thinking I would get done sooner. Now I realize the larger load that goes in the wash is the larger load coming out of the dryer that I have to force myself to fold and put away. So now I put in the size load I know I won't dread seeing come out the dryer end. Seeing the smaller load will give you the I can get that done attitude rather than wanting to just shut the door back up and walk away. It really works. And those smaller loads just seem to get done faster.
-
Cheryl, just look at the headings on the main topics...I'm sure there will be more today...GRRRRRR
I hate laundry too..I leave it sit in the dryer, then when I remember it, turn the dryer back on and run it for awhile to get the wrinkles out...usually I forget it again and again, till it's time to wash another load! LOL.......
-
I have finally found a solution to the folding the laundry boredom...I make it part of my winding down at bedtime routine.
I head up to the bedroom, get ready for bed, put all the clean but unfolded laundry on the bed, and fold and hang and put away until I'm done, then toss anything that's left into the basket for the next night, and by that point I'm ready to fall asleep, not lie in bed wide awake.
Since I'm usually only folding one day's worth of laundry at a time, there is not that much volume and I usually get through it, but if not, who cares?

Mom!!! Hugs for sending the little ones off. I know that must be hard. I have officially handed my children their summer chores. They will now be taking care of the laundry (washing, drying, sorting to the appropriate baskets) all of their stuff, the towles and the sheets. My dh does not want them touching his!! They are also in charge of the kitchen (cleaning after every meal) and their bathroom. They will also vacuum and dust and sweep as needed. Of course this means mom will have to stay on them to make sure it gets done, buit thatg is so much better than me doing it!!!
-
Wow Kim, once you have them trained could I borrow one?
-
I want one too.........LOL
-
I'll take three or four
or I could send you mine, you can train them and send them back.
-
Hey MOM!!!! How are you doing?
-
{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{ Elaine! }}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} Good luck with your scans sweetie! We want to hear when you hear....
All the babies going to camp! Yikes! Is Mom busy counting fingers and toes?
Chores = money$$ such a good motivator!
-
I usually let several loads pile up and fold it only when I have to. I don't like being alone in my room folding laundry while everyone else is doing their own thing.
-
Well dd survived her day camp. I even went mid day to check on her and got that aww mom I don't want to leave yet look. So let her stay all day. She had a blast.
-
Posted on another thread but got copies of my surgical report and instead of intermediate grade dcis, the report said my original biopsy showed high grade dcis with foci of invasive cancer. I'm thinking the surgeon got my report mixed up with someone else since I remember getting copies of the final path and it was listed as dcis but it was still a bit of a shock to find that in my report 8 months later. Can't get a call back from the surgeons so just having to wait and see how they explain what they wrote in the operative report.
-
Mom, be sure to let us know what the surgeons tell you. That's just unbelievable!
Glad you DD made it through camp, glad you did too! -
She fell asleep almost immediately after getting home and when I had to wake her she was such a little grump so I think it was a little much for her. But I know she will get use to it as the week goes on. So much better than watching tv or being on the computer.
-
So true Mom. I make my boys go outside all summer long! They have plenty to do here. We call my yard "Camp Krasner". Lot's of kids come by for the summer!

Sharon, Coonie and Mom. i don't know if they are ever going to be trained. BLUSH. They should of already been trained, but their mother is too lazy!! I am making up for it now though.
I have a few to spare, so I will send anyone who wants one to them. I just need them back by about the end of July!! LOL.
