Hi! I think I'll join if you don't mind. I hate cleaning house! You seem like a fun group.
Barbie, what a beautiful picture of the wedding couple. Where was it taken? I want to go there!
-
xpect...do we mind??? lol Absolutely not... welcome! Now because you're new to the thread... YOU HAVE THE DAY OFF!
I think we should all get the day off...
-
I am a lot better today. Thank goodness for pharmaceuticals for pain. I slept quite well and the swelling is down a lot today. Pain is at a minimum. I will alternate elevating and taking short walks around the apartment complex. Maybe a drive over to play bridge this afternoon. Good excuse that while I am out - get take out chinese for dinner ??? LOL...
Congrats, LInda, as if you wanted to have this to "celebrate". Get some ice cubes and go find a brick wall and blast it with the ice cubes. Smash them to smithereens. Wear eye protection (goggles or glasses). Bowels and migraines - more medical "drama" in our lives. I contend that only my ear lobes have not been affected - so far !!!
Hugs and smilies for everyone. Nancy

I had a reply going and I lost it. I hate it when that happens!
Looks like we are all feeling puny today. The pancakes should help!
Nancy- I am glad you got treatment and it's not a DVT. It was nice of the hospital to get you a ride home. Take care of yourself girl!
Mom- Sorry about the migraine. I hope you are feeling much better today.
Linda- Thanks for the pancakes. Yummy! Good to see you on Facebook.
Arnie- Sorry the AC is kicking your butt. That is some evil stuff. My next treatment is a week from today too. Already dreading it. Glad you will be done with the AC after the next one. I hope the Taxol is better.
Barbe- What a fun day that sounds like! Kind of like playing house when we were little girls! Sorry you are feeling poorly though. I just loved your wedding pictures and stories.
EWB- Thanks for the hugs.
I think I might actually feel a little better today. Here's hoping it lasts. Nancy, I had the Emend tri-pack, but that ran out last Thursday. I have compazine now, and it doesn't seem to be helping much. The nurse emailed me yesterday to see how I was and I'm going to email her back soon and let her know how I felt. Being in the trial, they keep close tabs on me. Unfortunately most of the nausea came on the weekend. I weighed myself this morning and I have lost five pounds in the last week. I think that is contributing to the nausea. I'm not eating enough, but I don't want to eat because I'm nauseous. And the circle goes round and round. I'm sure y'all understand. My plan today is to eat and drink, drink, drink the water. I'm not loving the water anymore. It tastes awful, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do!
Hope everybody has a good day and feels better. No housework today!!
-

Hugs to all hope you are all feeling better soon
Here is a picture I took of a flower is Maui. I loved it hope you all do too.
-
Cheryl and Jayne its good to see you two on here. You fit right in.
As for me the migraine is better. In fact I was well enough to take dd#2 shopping (much to her chagrin) for her summer wardrobe. We usually wait till nothing will fit before we do this as she hates to shop. To her credit we actually hit 3 or 4 stores and got it all done for the summer including her shoes. Major accomplishment for us.

I FEEL BETTER!!!!
Seriously, this is the best I have felt in a week! I did talk with the clinical trial nurse and she said I should try taking a Pepcid when I get up in the morning. She thinks maybe I am not eating enough and I am nauseous because I have too much acid in my stomach. Before I saw her email, I actually had taken a Pepcid because I had some heartburn and I felt better already. I hope taking it in the AM works. She is going to talk with the onc about giving me some in an IV before my next treatment next Tuesday to ee if that helps. I'm willing to try anything. She wasn't very happy with my five pound weight loss. My mom, sister and I are going to attempt going out for lunch tomorrow. Wish us luck!! I still eat really small amounts, but I try to eat often.
Hope everybody is feeling better!! Hugs to all!! Lori, I love the picture. Beautiful!
-
Gosh ladies hope you all start feeling better. Take tomorrow off to and I'll do enough work for all of you. Scratch that. I'll have my DH do enough work for all of you.Scratch that. Lets just all take a day off.
-
Lori, gorgeous flower! Is it a passion flower?
Glad you're feeling better Mary, and have a plan of attack for the next round.
Lursa....smokes?
-
BKC thanks, I will take the day off!
TexasRose, YEAH!!! I'm so happy that you are feeling better!!!!Mom glad you are better too. I would think taking a girl shopping would give you a migraine???
Yes, Lursa, how are you doing with the smoking? Please quit!!! Do it for us! Nah, do it for you!!
-
-Thanks for asking. It helps to be held accountable.
I'm down to 5 cigs a day. I KNOW! But it's WAY better than to 35-40 a day I used to smoke!
I prob-ly only have 2 weeks before starting chemo so I really gotta get serious.
XOXO

Speaking of "accountability"...........
We leave tomorrow afternoon -- just as soon as I finish up with my K, 1st & 2nd graders. We hope to drive about 8 hours and make it to "Saint's" house to spend the night -- as long as she is up to it.
Anyhow. I have 3.5 weeks in WI and I plan to do some work. Would a couple of you be willing to ask me periodically if I've gotten down to it?
Lursa can have her goal -- and I'll have mine. And the rest of you can chime in on keeping us on track. I know that I'd appreciate it.
hugs and encouragement to all in need.......

Faith careful what you ask for. I did that one time with Cathi about some continuing education credits I needed for my credential renewal. She took me to task on it and to my surprise it was just the motivation I needed. I knew I had to get it done before she had the chance to ask me if I'd finished again. So it does work. Rather well too.
Linda I always thought little girls would like to pick out pretty clothes, but mine is like I've got a t shirt at home why do I need new clothes. This time though after the initial protest she actually started to primp a little in the mirror from time to time. My favorite is when we first get out of the car and start walking across the parking lot and I reach my hand out and she slips her little hand in mine. Makes my heart thrill every time to think God has given me these girls to raise.
Mary so glad you are better. I had months and months of morning sickness that kept up morning, noon and night. Finally got relief about 6 months in.
Arnie how are you doing??? Sending hugs your way that you are feeling better.
Coonie you too. We miss you.
Barbe, bkc, Jayne, Lursa and Lori how are things your way?
-
Hey ladies have a question for you maybe one of you can give me objective view.
I have an employee that I am responsible for, giving her work orders and making sure these things get done.I am taken to task and held responsible for any mistakes or anything that is not completed. Her job consists of cleaning the offices and cleaning new homes. I am not in the position to fire her however.
I think she spends more time finding excuses to not do her job than she actually spends doing it. For example, I asked her today to clean a new home and about 2pm she came in and said she would have to mop the floors tomorrow. She doesn't get off until 5pm. I needed this done today!!!!!!! When I asked her why it couldn't be done today she got a little hostile and said she was using mop n glow and it required several buckets of water. I offered to carry the buckets for her and she turned and looked at me and said "You just don't understand everything that is required to do this!"
WHAT????? This is a linoleum floor. Am I missing something????? Can anyone explain what is so difficult about mopping a floor? I mean it's a floor!!!! How technical could it be?
I asked if she was feeling ill or did she have something going on that she needed to leave early and she just said. "This is not as easy as it sounds!"
I did this same job for about 3 years and it was just never this complicated. I just don't get it.
What I do get is that tomorrow when this home is not ready I will be the one to be reprimanded for not making sure it got done.
I Don't want to cause this girl any problems with the boss because she really needs the job but I am getting really tired of this. Any ideas? And has something changed over the years about cleaning lino floors that I just don't know about?
I have other employees that I am responsible for and just don't have this problem with most of them.
-
Hey, everyone!! I missed you all! Been laying low because I was just so gosh darn tired, I wasn't sure I was going to make it to my vacation, which is this week. Yay! Whew!!
Gentle hugs to all who need them. I am waaaay behind here, but Barbe, those wedding photos are beautiful. You all look fabulous.
I'm getting a tattoo tomorrow, NOT PINK. Purple. Here's a drawing, broken out for the tattoo artist to make a stencil. The lower left one is the complete tattoo. It's going just above my right knee on the side of my leg. Someone asked me today if I was nervous about it hurting. I told her that after the scorche-earth exerience of being treated for breast cancer, I wasn't concerned about a tattoo!
-
KAK I'm afraid I would be no help as I am not a fan of tattoos. Just do not think they add anything to anyone's looks. I also have my doubts those tattoo parlors are equipped or able to maintain sterile technique to prevent hepatitis, staph, strep etc. since it is an almost impossible task even in medical/hospital settings. Sorry but maybe someone else will have a like of them.
bkc my hubby had to oversee an employee like that. The difficult part for him was when he checked back over her previous evaluations he realized the boss before him had never documented her bad behavior and sloppy work. She had been such a problem that the former boss had just given her good evaluations to avoid confrontation with her. Hubby refused to do that and started documenting when she would cause conflict with other workers or not carry her own workload etc. He also gave her truthful evaluations and called her to account for the areas she was slacking on. The funny thing was that instead of it causing her to be fired she gradually improved and became a productive employee that instead of exasperating everyone actually started to get along with her co workers and doing the work she was hired to do. Perhaps she was just one of those people who needed someone to make her accountable.
-
By the way KAK we have missed you and its good to see you back. (with or without tattoos
