BKC, I used to manage several different Subway Restaraunts and ran across so many people like this...if you let them get by with being slack and walking on you, it will just keep up....you need to take her aside and tell her , Look your not finishing your work reflects on me, and if it comes between me and you, despite the fact you need your job, it will be you that goes...and tell her to do her job. She's taking advantage of your niceness. Or simply tell her if things don't improve, you will be talking to the boss about her..don't let her do this to you!
Hugs
Deb
whoops, sent this to the wrong person, sorry BKC!

KAK like the tatoo. Not a fan myself mainly because I"m terrified of the pain and needles but have friends that say it's no big deal. Would be afraid that I wouldn't like it after I got it and then would be stuck with it.
-
I was reading your original post of "one room" at a time, mom2two. I have cut it down to one section, one drawer, one pile of papers, or one load of laundry. Does that make me a slacker? Does putting one more thing on my "to do" list count??? LOL !!!
I am not the type to get a tatoo, but the design is very nice. Where will it be? arm, leg?
It has been so long since I was in charge of any employees that I have little to say about it, except that if it takes more than 3 hours (2 till 5) to mop a floor, there is something very wrong unless it is a very large floor, like the size of a foot ball field or she is using Q tips to do it.
-
I like it Kathi. I'm not a fan of big tattoos or lots of them, but I think one simple tat can look very nice. I have actually toyed with the idea of getting one myself. No idea what I would get. I figured if I ever did, I would get a dolphin because I collect them and love them. A small dolphin. Somewhere pretty inconspicuous! But I think yours is very pretty and I say go for it!! I used to say I would never get one because of the pain, but nothing scares me in that dept anymore. I have discovered I'm a pretty tough old broad!! I've changed my mind about a lot of things since my diagnosis.
-
Nancy~~ We all have the week off. I forget why. Oh yeah, because we have a new member- Cheryl. We are taking the week off in honor of her, so you don't have to do anything.
Been a long time since I had people to manage, but I agree with Nancy on the employee situation.
-
Hope everyone has a good day... this is what I've been doin' alot of lately... remember... in honor oof Cheryl we have the week off! No guilt here...hehehe
-
KAK, go for it!! Post pics when you can!
Mom, that is such a sweet story about your daughter holding your hand. Occassionally my youngest son will still do that so I know what you mean. Enjoy it while you can!! -
Mom2two...precious, precious... when my dd lays her head on my shoulder or cuddles up I still get that thrill...and she's a mom to two...lol
(((((((((((((Coonie)))))))))))))))))) thinkin' about ya...
KAK... love the design
-
Love the cat and mouse pic!
Kathi, LOVE the tatoo, not sure of the positioning...hmmm. Are we all just critics! hehehehehe
As for that employee, you are NOT doing her or any future empolyers any favours by allowing that behaviour. I make a very strict but fair boss and a lot of people can't handle that, so I don't manage anymore by choice (you just can't get good hired help). You cannot allow employees to "run" the company. The job is stated. The job gets done in a timely manner. Not rocket science or brain surgery.
I wouldn't even say that you are accountable. I'd say that if the job isn't done, they will know it was HER that didn't get it done. Right now she probably gets pleasure getting you in trouble. I, too, would sit her down and ask if she really wants to work for the company or not. If she choses to stay, this is how it's going to be...1, 2, etc. Let us know how it goes...I'll be thinking of you while I'm at.....work!
Coonie, how yah doing sweetie????
-
Miss you, Coonie! Hope you are okay.
Don't worry, Mom. In RI, they have to autoclave and sterilize and use new needles & ink on each customer & get Hep B vaccines. The place I'm going to is very compliant and I'm also vaccinated against Hep B. Thanks for the concern!
I'm not a person you'd expect to have a tattoo, but that's the way it is these days. Most of the women I know with them don't seem like the type. LOL.
There's nothing as special as having a little one cuddle up to you. It's just unvarnished affection.
-
Good morning ladies!
I love this time of year! I have a fawn running around my back yard. They are so stinking cute!!!
Kathi- Most of the women I know with tats don't seem like the type either. In fact, it's a joke in my family. My SIL wanted one for the longest time, but my brother didn't want her to get it. Not really sure why because he had one. I think it was because she couldn't afford it. It was kind of pricey. Anyway, he would tease her and tell her, "You're not tattoo people." So, for a long time, whenever she would talk about wanting one, I would tell her she wasn't tattoo people. I'm still very seriously considering one for when I am finished with treatment. My junior leaguer cousin has a small shamrock that is really cute. Does your's have a special meaning?
-
Awwww, fawns are just so stinking cute, aren't they?? I have to laugh at that expression, though, 'cause I heard Paula Dean use "stinkin' good" to describe one of her infamous, artery-choking-but-fabulous culinary creations the other day.
The tattoo will look something like this:
-
I'm going to get a big one across my mastecomy scars. I think a butterfly linking the two ends in the centre, then organic, flowing vines with flowers. I can do it in stages $$$$, so it will look nicer as I go along. Hope to start soon!
-
Love it! It really is beautiful. Powerful.
I love Paula Deen. She is going to be my chef in heaven. LOL Not now because I am in no rush to get to heaven. I drool over her recipes but rarely eat them. On the other hand, my husband's grandmother cooked just like her and lived to be 92. In fact, all of his grandparents ate like that and lived well into their 80's/90's. Hmmmmmm......
-
KAK, I love the tattoo! Did you do chemo? I've been toying with getting another tattoo myself, but don't know how long to wait after chemo. Any suggestions, anyone?
-
bkc, I agree that you have to hold that employee accountable. About the only excuses I can think of for not getting the job done is if there are contractors still working on the house constantly dragging mud through the room who will be continuing until past 5PM, or who have the water to the house turned off to install plumbing. Those are things your employee should be able to articulate to you. "you don't understand" doesn't cut it.
KAK, I too am not a big fan of tattoos, but the one you have designed is lovely. I think that most of us who are old enough to remember the sailors who came back from WWII with tattoos that drooped as they got older have a different view of them than younger people do. I will tell you the same thing I told my kids when they first mentioned tattoos...think how that would look on Grandma, because it is going to look the same way on you when you get to be her age. So far, neither has expressed a desire to get tattooed.
Mom2two, I miss the complete joy of holding a little one's hand. I do occasionally get hugs from my young adults, and I treasure them.
TexasRose, so good to see you posting and doing well.
I'm celebrating the fact that it rained overnight so we got the water, but the dogs didn't need to go out in it, so no muddy paw prints on the kitchen floor! (with 3 of them it makes a difference)
-
Hey, Cheryl. How are you? No, I didn't do chemo, but I'd say wait till your hair is all back and your skin and nails are normal and you're not in imminent danger of coming down with something. There are some good web sites that tell you what to ask and what to look for with getting a tattoo. Most states require licenses of some sort and minimum standards of sterilization. I just did a search on "getting a tattoo" and came up with tons of good info.
Mary, Paula Deen just cracks me up. I love that she doesn't take herself too seriously.
The design is a Celtic knot. I am half Celtic (Irish and Scots on my mother's side) so it's an appropriate design for me. The thing that makes a Celtic knot a Celtic knot is that there is no beginning and no end, so it's a great representation of love, infinity, abundance, health, balance, the universe and a lot of other things. Plus, I always love strong, simple graphic design.
I'm off soon to get it!! I'll let you all know how I survive!!
Thanks, Sharon, for starting the separate thread about our Coonie.
-
Patmom, my daughter mopped my kitchen and laundry room floors yesterday, .it rained here and I now have muddy pawprints all over the place from our two dogs.. I hate, hate hate mud! GRRR!!!!!!! and no one understands it better then another dog owner! LOL
-
PatMom, I thought long and hard about what part of my body was most unlikely to sag!!! Also, being in healthcare, I thought about what part of me would be most unlikely to require surgery (like a joint replacement, etc.). I think I'm safe with the side of my thigh. It looks the same as it did 40 years ago!! No sagging yet!!
-
Kak what about Coonie?
-
Mom2two, evidently she has the flu or something real bad, she's dehydrated and all, and they're going to admit her to the hospital...there's a separate thread for her in the active topics.
-
Thanks Deb, I just went looking on the active topics when I saw KAK's message. I've already called and talked to a florist there because I think she should know we are thinking of her. Anyone interested in contributing for flowers can pm me. I think $5 each should get a really nice bouquet if anyone would like to be a part of it. Just PM me.
-
I just got up from a nap and am just sick over the news about our Coonie... I just pm'd you mom..
((((((((((((((((coonie)))))))))))))))))
-
Grrrrrrrrrrr I am so mad........I was just over on ABC.com reading the story of Hannah, the 10yr old with breast cancer, some of the things people say are so stupid!!!!!!!! Such as was she around second hand smoke, was she around this or that? OR how could they publicize this.....made me so mad I posted about it over there...GRRRRRRRRRR people are ignorant!
-
There can be some very judgemental kooks out there Deb. Hopefully her parents kind of screen what she sees. Ten is very young to have to deal with things like that.
-
It just really irritated me as most of these are probably people who have no idea what it's like to go through this...they even made a comment about her size! I couldn't believe it...and most of them have no idea as to what BC even is ...............my bp is up!
-
Which is not good for your healing either Deb, just gotta let those kind of people go. (((((hugs))))))) for your kind heart.
-
If any of you would like to read the story and these insane comments, go here

My Goodness, this childs grandma even had to come in to defend her grandchild and her parents. Why should they have to defend themselves when they did nothing wrong and while they're going through this? GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Yeah I know Mom, it just really irked me.
-
Deb... how sad is that??? We're so fortunate to have each other to vent to... and chuckle with. I'm so glad I found my bc sisters!
(((((((((((((Coonie))))))))))))
-
Does anyone have an update on Coonie? Miss you Coonie!!
