    I was talking to my DD in Hawaii yesterday...jokingly she said nothing exciting happens here.....then this morning I got an email saying they were evacuated from the restaurant because of a Tsunami warning......and sirens were going on........

    Well....What can I say STAY safe and keep in touch

    Our Mayor is shutting down all the transit systems as of this afternoon.....I just don't like the sound of it

    One of my sons schools has already cancelled for tomorrow.  Hoping they are just being over protective.  It's raining here now with light winds, nothing major.

    This not so young mother will probably be at work.  I am glad my oldest will be home so when they cancel my youngest school, he will not be home alone!

    So glad DH cancelled his trip!

    I know how to use the generator!  I did a trial run today and got to check out everything that will work while we have no power.  I'm thrilled to have water, my microwave and toaster oven.  Heat will be nice too!

    hey closed the schools around here also, thank goodness mine are older....watching Dallas they are losing and Ducky so glad you checked in....was worried.....not sure what will happen but they are sayig the jersey shore is getting hit....the boys and me are here together, glad would be nervious to be anyplace else...

    You all hang in the there and will check in later.

    Sheila, how's the wind up your way?  It's starting to howl a bit here.  i am almost done with stuff but need to bake DG'ds cake tonight for her Friday birthday...just in case no oven.

    My college is closed through Tuesday PM so far....I will not miss work a bit.   Mak , you could get some winds from this one.  We have not had rain yet.

    My last act of the day will be to take the longest hottest shower that could last me a few days Surprised

    I really appreciate the good wishes....when I look at the weather map, i feel so small...

    Joan...It's very quiet here...no wind no rain .....don't hear any cars or people.......it reminds me the day after 9/11 Frown

    I have gas stove at least i can make a cup of coffee if the power go out....

    Joan, We have wind, only about 15-20 mph and rain.  How can I have it and not NY???  Kids are ere with friends....it never ends.  What college do you work at?  Or do you go to college? Enjoy your shower!

    Glad you have a gas stove Sheila!  Wells and electric stoves are the wost in power outages!

    omg - I want that pie.

    Gotta make some Pillsbury chocolate chip cookies...if we lose power they will go bad, so I need to make them now, right?  lol   

    School has been canceled for Mon and Tues for DS.  Classes canceled for Monday for DD.

    Did any of you ladies on the west coast feel the earthquake?  Gees - we're being pummelled from all directions - earthquakes, tsunami, and hurricane/frankenstorm...

    Mak, I don't know..but it is definitely from the big system...no rain here yet...but the storm has outer bands and rain could form anywhere.  Winds will blow toward center of storm and you are in the wind field for sure.  I work at a community college on eastern L.I.
    Sheila, it was really quiet for about an hour and now picking up again.  I hope you have an unevenful night.  I love my gas stove and public water.  I can make coffee or anything, really.
    Chris, how are things in CT?  DD evacuated today (Westport).

    Chris...Oahu was under Tsunami watch...DD and Joe were at the restaurant and they were evacuated

    Everything is fine now...but entire Waikiki area was closed........

    I don't know what's going on...Mother Nature is not very happy....
