Mel, I'm saying a special prayer for you and your "room mate". It's terrible that he needs more surgery and I'm so sorry you have to take time off work when your employment situation is vulnerable. I'm so glad your friend is coming up and you are going to give your Kia free rein - that is just what you need to do. Hope you have a great vacation day.
Nancy, your daughter looks so beautiful. What a stunning dress! Love the boyfriend's shoes - hope they had a fabulous night. I hope your father continues to do well.
Cathi - love the pics. What a loving little dog Margot is! There's nothing like an enthusiastic welcome from our dear pets.
Lisa - you are amazing - you work hard at your job and then you are a whirlwind at home - can I please get some of your energy?!
Leesa - prayers for you for a rapid healing from you recent surgery. You sure have been through a lot.
If I scroll back now I will lose my post so I'm trying to remember...
Sue - I'm excited thinking about you meeting up with UB & AE!
Shirlann - so glad you got a good report but sorry to hear you are still in pain.
Karen - I lose my energy in hot weather - that's why I live in the mountains - long, cold (not really that bad!) winters. Glad you have had a cool change and hope you get some tasks done. Take some time off for yourself too, if possible!
Jule - keeping you & David in my thoughts and prayers.
Judie - hope you are having a great trip.
Nettie - how are you? When do you have surgery?
Cheryl, thinking of you and hope you are feeling a little better - no, a lot better!
UB & AE - when do you leave for the UK?
To all I've mentioned and all I haven't - love to you all.
Jane xoxo

Hello everyone.
Things have really been busy. Mel, I am sorry to hear about your roomate. I hope and prayer things will go well. Thank you all for your well wishes. I did get the drain removed last Monday and had 190 cc's of fluid removed and some of the stitches. I went yesterday and she pulled off another 150 cc's from the left breast and about 40cc's from the right drain. The fluid from the left breast is a dark brown and nasty looking. She is culturing it and I will have the results on Monday. My PS hit a muscle or something when she was withdrawing the fluid and ever since then I have had muscle spasms or something because when I move my arm a certain way the pain shoots down my left arm and it feels like it catches. It will bring you to your knees. She gave me a muscle relaxer. I took one last night at 6:00 and slept until 11:00 today. Also, the area around the left drain insertion sight is very tender and that is the one that didn't drain anything until she started removing the fluid herself. Does this sound weird?
Today was a very busy day once I woke up. My third little grandbaby turned 4. We went to Wal-mart and she got to pick out her birthday cake, touys, jewelry, and her "makeup" (lip gloss). We then bought her a dress from the Hawain shop at the mall. Went to see her dad at work. Went to Chuck-E-Cheese and had a party. We went to the nail and spa shop and we had our nails done, the we went to El Chico and she had a chocolate milk and chips with queso. I had a coke with chips and ques. The employees there came and sang Happy Birthday to her. She was great all day. Her nails are a bight dark pink with clear glitter on them (toes and fingers). She was all smiles.
Meagan (my son's fiance) invited me to look at wedding dresses with her and to help plan some of her weeding with her. I feel really honored that she wants to include me in on this. She is really a pretty girl. My sone calls their dog their "kid" and he got a minature maltese yesterday and I didn't know it. When I spoke to him today he said, "I will be at the party after I drop off the kids." I was surprised and taken aback when he said "drop off the kids", he told me about the new puppy and then understood he was talking about both of the puppies. "Whew". Cathi, You can tell Margo is a little irl because she sure does have her "daddy" wrapped like all good little girls. LOL
Welcome to all the new people. Nance your daughter is truly beautiful, the dress and tennis shoes were great. I know you weren't proud in the slightest.LOL. Lisa, I would like to have a smiggen of your energy or even Cathi's. I'm gaining weight and can't loose it.
Well, I got carried away again sorry. Hello to all and to all you are in my prayers.
Hugs,
Leesa

Leesa, Sounds like the perfect day with your grandchild. She is very lucky to have you!

I disagree with everyone !!! There is no way I would wait till October for this surgery Get another doctor immediately. This can spread through the lymph nodes and blood. That is bullcrap. Immediately !!! get it done now.
-
Irishred,
I think you misunderstand. The orginal post was from Sept of 2007, Sue had surgery in Oct 2007. This is an old thread, but a very active one. Please feel free to join us, but don't worry, Sue has had her surgery.
Welcome to the land of Oz!

Mel, My prayers are with you too, and anyone else here that needs a booster.
We are a family of wonderful people that care and bring you hope threw the hard
times, I know. Going threw myself, When I go a very caing note it sure helps to
ease the worry or pain. Thanks you know who, And God bless you all in your
fight. God loves you and so do I, Debbie -
I had breast cancer at 38 and I have been cancer free up until now. I am 49. I had a double massectimy and Adrymycin and Taxol. Radiation ofcourse. I was on Tamoxifen and after the 5th year I asked my onc if I could stay on it. She said yes but it will probably not act after the 5th year. Two years ago I quit tamixifen. FEbruary of this year I was rediagnosed it went to my femur and hip. Had to have a huge hip replacement and femur replacement but I'm great now. Kicking *** and taking names again... lol I won't let this get me down. I am out of menapause thanks to my decision of getting of of tamixifen. Thought I was home free. NOT She is now giving me Lupron shots with Femarra. Cancer IS NOT a death sentence. If you would like to talk I'm out in Texas and my email is Ann2800@msn.com. I have just started these second treatments.

Hello lovely girls (and UB!)
Sorry I haven't posted for ages, laptop is being repaired and the old, ancient! desktop - I swear it's steam driven!, is tempremental. I have been catching up with my IPhone, but no good for posting.
Nancy, your daughter is your IMAGE!! - she looks beautiful and your heart must be overflowing. I keep saying this, but you all have such beautiful children, and the CUTEST wee doggie in our Margot, Cathi LOVED the pics, always do. I'm so sorry you are having such a jobbie time of it. Looks like your unerring good humour has taken a beating. Wish I could do or say something to help. I could wipe the floor with the old hag, catty Carol, the ancient bimbo, toooo easy, but I wish I could magic away Jacklyn's problem. I keep thinking what I would do if anything happened to my 5 nieces ,and my cousin's daughter, who is like one of my best friends (she takes care of my furry, purry posse when I am away) and the thought chills me to the bone. I can't even bear to think about it. You have been incredibly strong. It's easy to be strong for yourself, we have to be. You are an inspiration in your support. And get to the bottom of the pain you are having!!!! I have been getting bone pain since chemo finished, hips and shins especially, but I know that is to be expected. PLEASE take care of yourself.
Well, I got my surgery date Thursday 18th in the morning. I am having a wire loop inserted because the tumour is no longer palpable, and they plan to remove 2mm. If there are any suspicious cells in the circumferance of the 2mm lump, then I will be recalled for a full mast. I am also having the lymphs removed at the same time. I expect to be in hospital for about 3/4 days only, so not too bad. I have spoken to another girl who had the exact procedure and it isn't unbearable b any stretch of the imagination. There is a fantastic local (very local) group of about 25 of us all going through treatment presently and it has been a godsend as we are all so supportive of each other and live within 25 miles of each other. Having lunches around our full (treatment) appointment diaries!!!
So ladies, finger crossed that the surrounding breast tissue is clean and then it will be rads (about 6 weeks daily, they estimate, physio and then a year of herceptrin) that's the best case scenario.
Since the end of chemo I have been totally wiped out, much worse than when I was on it, surprisingly. I had about 1 in 3 days when I felt GREAT, now I just feel like the life blood had been drained from me. I don't this it's psychological, though I wont discount that. Got my appetite back now, but can't stop sleeping. Had visitors last night and had to nap at 10pm!! Just could not keep my baldy eyes open!! How long do you think before my lashes start growing back, by the way My remaining ones are broken remnants of the long ones I used to have, I actually pulled out the stray long ones because they just looked daft!!
I am having a new power shower installed next week as I won't manage the bath - my right shoulder is badly damaged so my left arm is now my dominant arm and that is where the lymph nodes are to be removed, and surgery on my left boobie. That's my fear, that I am going to be dependant for a while post surgery. I have been able to do nearly everything for myself all through his journey, and my indepenence means everything to me. Och well, no point trying to second guess the future. I know I'll cope and come out of it stronger whatever the future holds.
Say a prayer for me girls, knowing there are such great wisdom (Barbe, did you study Philosophy at all? You actually sound Irish in your comments. I can heat some of the things you say coming out of my dad's mouth. "you're guilty, but you're not to blame" is such an Irish wise contradiction.) anyway, such wisdom and great good humour and kindness across the pond is such a comfort.
Enjoy this glorious Sunday - we have actually had a week of SUNSHINE, I have had the factor 50, yes, factor 50 and been sittting in the garden this week. Wish I had the strength to garden, but have pottered around. Whenever I exert myself, I end up panting like an old carthorse. Not a good look!!
Blessings and best wished to each and every one of you. And the the new newbies, you will bless the day you stumbled across this site. As I did in the bitter cold days of January, shellshocked, newly diagnosed and terrified, here in Scotland. You will get so much support and advise from these wise and brave women who have taken on BC and WON! Welcome and warmest wishes.
Tartan hugs
Nettie xxxxxxxxxxx -
Nettie and UB prayers to you both as you go through these ruff times. XOXOXOXOXOXOXOX
-
Nettie, great update! Now we know what you've been up to, and what you're in for! What is factor 50?
As for staying up to 10 pm!!! Who can do THAT? I get in my jammies as soon as I get home from work and once I've eaten I TRY to stay upright for at least an hour....then not a chance, I'm down. We spend an awful lot of energy during the day just trying to do normal things. Once I'm home with my door shut I can just let go. Don't knock yourself up (as someone from your side of the pond said), and be prepared to nap and fall asleep even earlier as your body heals after your surgery.
Hugs to all...
-
Nettie, praying for clean and clear on your margins and surrounding cells. The group of ladies sound perfect. Its like BCO in your hometown. Hang in there and know that we will be thinking and praying for you.
-
Barbe I can no longer lay down on the sofa, my wonderful Margo thinks that as soon as you lay down -it's time to jump and play, it's pretty funny sometimes - but now that she is able to jump up, there is no safe zone, I guess having Roxie around she has learned to jump rather well and high, she has mastered the gate that keeps her from the bedrooms. Ed got up early this AM, I was planning on sleeping in, he turned his back - and there she was in my bed terrorizing me. If I want to nap she has to go in her crate - no rest for puppies.
-
HAHAHAHHAA, I can just see her leaping and bounding around Cathi! hehehehehehe Cats do tend to teach their badder habits! As Margo gets older, she'll nap with you, she just has some catching up to do in doggie years...
-
Nettie, I'm praying for clean margins for you. And have a lovely rest while in hospital...breakfast in bed is my idea of recovery. Three to four days? That's the way is used to be here, too, but I was only in overnight for my bilat mastectomy last July.
It's gorgeous here today, but I have inside work to do. My son is back and we're painting the living room today. Cathi, I'm sure you're at the beach...hope they have wifi and you brought your laptop. Just keep the sand out of it, LOL.
Everyone else, enjoy the day, whatever the weather is!
-
Oh yes Nancy a glorious day at the beach -I LOVE FLORIDA . This is my second new suit, now in this one I did use shoulder pads in the little pocket thing (it pulled really to flat looking) but I love this suit too - and it came from WAL*MART.

Hi My gorgeous sisters xxx
I am popping in to update you on stuff going on.
I went to the hospital last Wedsnesday for genetic testing. They are going to confirm all that I told them about my mum and gran having ovarian and breast cancer and then they are going to start the test. The test in on the NHS , I think a sister asked if I had to pay for it.
They think it is almost likely I will have brac 1 and possibly 2 faulty genes, they said it was very unusual to get b/c so young, and have a history like my mum and gran. Being triple negative makes it even more likely.
The test may take a week or it could take 12 months it depends on the cells activity and growth in the lab, If I do have the gene there is a 60% risk of getting breast cancer in the other breast note: my gran and bilateral breast cancer in her 40s.
If I do have the gene I will be having my ovareis and fallopian tubes out as this will decrease the risk of getting b/c EVEN if it was triple negative... so hormones dont necessarily come into it.
I came away from the hospital very sad. I am still on half dosage anti ds and they are affecting me but I am determining to come off them.
The other important thing to note is that if anyone does have the faulty gene it tends to start havoc in the thirties .
Ok sorry to talk bootface again but I wanted you all to know what was going on... xxxxxxxxxxx
-
I pray for everyone on here everyday , I send you my love ... and think of you loads xxxxxx
-
Sue keeping my fingers crossed for negative on both the BRAC 1 & 2 , NOW GET YOUR
"BLODDY LITTLE A$$ TO FLORIDA" We will have a margaurita on the beach, actually had Pina Coladas today - yummy in the hot sun - XOXOXOXOXOXOX (Never understood why you use the word "bloody" in the UK -LOL) But it sounds cool.
-
Hugs Sue, hope you won't have to wait too long for results.
Cathi you look great! How far are you from the beach?
-
Elaine we load up the wagon with chairs, towels & drinks and in about 5 minutes walking we are there. We lived in an apratment right on the intercoastal for 4 years a beautiful water view, but it became way to small so we found this house a bit over a year ago, miss the water view right out the livingroom doors but like I said PARADISE!!!
-
Thanks so much Meg, things are getting better in my mind about the NEW LOOK, I just keep saying not so bad for an almost 49 year old granny of 4 .
-
How lovely to be so close.
-
It is great Elaine, we tend to get a lot of weekend company in the summer, but thats great too, although this weekemd not a sole and that was nice to. One of the great things also is when we have lots of company you can go over to the beach set up camp, chairs umbrellas we also have a really nice beach tent, and leave them there all day, back and forth to the house, no one ever bothers anything. But our beach is pet free so Margo can't go - theres a little inlet a few miles away that allows pets but theres some pretty big mean dogs there sometimes.
-
Cathi, Love the walmart suit! It looks great! You are very lucky to be close to the beach. I love the beach and get there as often as I can. It's so relaxing!
