Thanks Barbe....I am just finishing 2003. 2002, was a huge year! She was in 2 plays, went to the modeling tryout...got signed..and had 2 commercials, and lots of photo shoots...so that alone was well at least 15 pgs!

Hi ladies,
I spent some time reading to catch up, but my head isn't retaining much. But, I wanted to say Jule that your saga sounded awful. It's hard fighting a medical fight on one front, let alone with multiple sick people.
And Jane, {{{hugs}}} for your mother.
Lisa, my heart goes out to your friend and her loss.
We're keeping my father in a nursing home for a while longer so he can get daily PT. He's improved greatly, but will probably never be at the level he was before he got sick in March. Still, we hope to have him home by the end of the month. He'll need someone with him all the time, so we'll get the aides lined up again, and a PT to come several days a week and work with him.
Emily has her prom tonight! I'm leaving work a little early to get home in time to take pictures. I'm more than a little annoyed with her because she procrastinated, and procrastinated so that I only had one night to take up her hem (last night!!!) She was just never at home, even though I told her why I needed her there. I hate to say it, but I did a lousy job. I was tired, and just had to get it done and press the dress. To add to the stress, my good iron went missing and I had to use a crappy one my brothers brought with them. I was so nervous that I'd burn the silk or stain the dress with polluted steam or it would catch and cause a pull.
So when I post pictures, don't look at the hem, LOL.
-
Hi Nancy! My heart is with you tonight...with girls..these big events are so stressfull..on US!! haha. I can totally relate to the procrastination...I think Emily and Olivia are from the same mold! I am still trying to get Olivia to download pics for printing (well, let me be honest here...she started yesterday, and I didn't know she wasn't finished, and had prob with the pc, so i shut it off!! huge mistake)..anyhow, she is still a huge procrastinator! I am sure that Emily's dress will look beautiful! The hem...nobody looks there anyhow! I wish you no headaches and PEACE tonight! LOL
-
Everyone will be looking at her lovely face not the hem of her gown. Anyway I know you did a great job on hemming it.
I just got a message from the local ACS. Last night we had the Survivors dinner and the Relay for Life was supposed to be tonight. Well we are socked in with rain/storms through out the day into tonight so they made the decision this morning to postpone the Relay until tomorrow. The weather forcast is better for tomorrow than it is today. I know I complained for 2 years about drought conditions but 3 + inches of rain in 24 hour period 2 days in a row is a little bit much! I was however able to get John to clean out the gutters after the storms over ran the gutter on the front porch 2 days in a row
. I threatened to carry the ladder from the storage building behind the house to the front of the house and clean them out myself if he didn't do it yesterday. But you know me, I wouldn't do that would I?
Sheila

The definition of a drought is a bit different in the Northeast. Because we don't have enough reservoir space, it seems like a constant. We had 9 days of rain in a row earlier this spring, and they are talking about the reservoir levels being a bit low, and possible water restrictions. It's been raining for the last few days, but they haven't been total washouts, so they will be be announcing a drought any day now!
-
Nancy, I hope that any tears tonight are ones of joy and pride.
-
Nancy I am sure you did a great job on the hem, hell I can't (or should I say won't) even sew a button.
Lisa you are a busy one. I am starting to get lazier and lazier by the day, but the summer down here always does that - but this year, I am just like, Oh hell, it's just a dust bunny, I really don't care. I used to be the biggest clean freak in the world (I think that helped to relieve bad marriage stress). Nothing and I do mean nothing was ever out of place - from boxes and cans in the cupboards being arranged according to size -its a sad shame to look at them now - LOL. My house isn't nasty - but you will find dust for sure.
Hope everyone has a great weekend. XOXOXOXOXOX
-
Our drought was lack of rain and water tables as well as lake levels were diminishing. We were on water restrictions all of last summer, no watering the lawn, no washing cars at home, if you watered plants outside, you were supposed to use buckets not let the hose run (unless you had a personal well like my neighbor has). I actually collected the water when I was going to take my shower or wash dishes in a cup (then poured into a bucket) until the hot water got to the faucet and used that to water my house plants, outside planters and water my dog. You would be surprised how much water you waste waiting for hot water at the sink.
-
Patmom,
I live in MA and we always have water restrictions. I have a well, though so I don't ave to follow the rules! I do have to be carerful not to drain the well, which I have done on numerous occasions! It dos fill itself, just takes time.
Nancy, don't worry about the hem. I hope she has a GREAT time!! Enjoy!

I just joined this froum and was reading your post... I too just got diagnosed with DCIS agressive . I had a biopsy on May 12th got the news on May 19th that is was cancer had a partial masectamy on May 22 the doc also removed my sential node and NO cancer was found there.Praise God ! I'm still recovering from all that ... I am very sore . I start rad at the end of the month I am so worried about it because I need to continue to work as I go through these treatments. is the radiation hard on you and do I need to start some kind of vitamin boost ? My doctor has been out of town since I had surgery and I have all kinds of questions ... He won't return until June 14th and I go back to see him June 16th. So any advice anyone has I would appreciate it ... and remember ...God IS Awesome !
-
7777, Sorry you have to join us too You are in the right place, though. I had IDC and a partial mx last June. No nodes for me either so I only had to do rads. I did 36 treatments and was surprised that it wasn't as nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. I am a stay at home Mom who used to work. I would have been able to get my treatments and go to work. Around the 2nd week, I felt tired, but soon after that I had more energy than I knew what to do with. It wasn't until about a month after rads that I got tired. My one suggestion is to continuely moisturize your area being radiated. Best of luck to you!

Being in Fl we ALWAYS have a drough - even our weeks worth of steady rain a bit ago didn't fix the entire problem, the mainlands are starting to get daily PM showers, but unless the rain comes right of the Gulf of Mexico in the PM, the storms hardly ever make it to me. So the beach is still VERY-VERY DRY. Our grass was starting to perk up - but looks like hay once again.
But I won't complain, it is paradise most of the time. But when we do get a storm - Boy do we get a storm, of coarse hurricane season started Monday, so thats all you here now is the warnings and BE PREPARED, I think for the most part we are, but can you ever really be 100% sure. Gosh I hate to think what would happen if a CAT5 ever hit this Island I am on, but theres 100's of old old homes that have withstood many a storm.

Welcome, newbies! You've come to the right place for support and information. The ladies (and one gentleman) here are incredible! Sorry you're here, but glad you found us!
I can't wait to see Emily's prom pictures, Nancy! I'm sure no one will notice the hem. As Sheila said, everyone will be too busy focusing on her gorgeous face.
Hi Leesa! We've missed you! How exciting about your son's engagement. I can't say I blame his fiancee's parents---20 is awfully young. My brother married his wife when he was 20 and she was 19. They've been married for 35 years.
We've had 90 degree weather for three days now. Today, however, it's only going to get up to 75. I'm so grateful! The air conditioning in my car has died and it's been awful!
Have a wonderfull weekend, everyone!
Love and hugs,
Karen

Global warming my ass.

LOL!
-
Well my A$$ looks like the dam globe and it is pretty warm as well - LOL.
No kidding I typed my last post and decided it was time to go up for my daily coffee run, 3 miles away - so a few sprinkles hit the windshield on the drive up, I run in - no lines no waiting - they see me coming, no what I want always have it made, the skys open up, thunder, lightening, I make it to the car and start heading back, and you can't see a dam thing, it is like the movie TWISTER, crap blowing across the road, and pelting rain, I pull over as does most everyone else, and typical FL it is over in 5 minutes and the sun is now out. So I drive home (about 1.5 miles away now) my part of the beach - dry as a bone - but it looks like we might actually get that 5 minute down pour this time -YEAH!!!!
-
Wow, good thing you weren't on your bike Cathi! You'd be like that witch in Wizard of Oz saying "My little pretty" as you sped away into the wind!
-
Well, I am back at work, a few minutes late, but my boss is gone, he won't care. If I have to leave early, take a long lunch, he always says, no problem. I had an appointment to get Penelope a bath and toe nails trimmed (I won't do it at home anymore!) tomorrow morning. well just as I was pulling in my driveway, Teresa calls me and said she had a cancellation and if I wanted to I could bring Penelope right over. Of course I said, sure I'll bring her. one less thing to do tomorrow. I stayed with her at the groomer's because she is usually done in an hour and it saved me a trip back. Now I am covered with hair but she smells and looks gorgeous. It's a good thing that I work 1/2 mile from my house, the groomer is about 1.5 miles from the house and there is a fast food joint between my home and work or I would be going without lunch today. I really wasn't looking forward to a pimento cheese sandwich today either.
Cathi, it is good you weren't on your bike. I can just picture the scene that Barbe described. It was raining all night last night here but it has cleared off some since about 10:00 am. They are however calling for storms tonight.

Too funny- that has happened to me though, don't really mind getting caught in the rain, its the wind and lightening that can drop yeah pretty darn quick, I took a nasty spill once from the wind blowing me all over the place. I hardly ever ride the main road between the Gulf and intercoastal water, so wind in and out of the streets so Ed never knows where I am to come and find me )of coarse I guess I could use my cell -), he gets so upset if I don't come back ASAP in a storm. He's standing all posed with his hands on his hips on the front porch waiting for my return - I can't help but laught at him.
-
We had prom last night, Caity was lovely! They all went to the shore for the weekend so will try to post nextweek when the camera gets back. Hard to believe these beautiful young women and really handsome young men are the dopey kids in 2nd and 3rd grade with missing teeth and questionable fashion choices and interesting hairstyles! So poised, grownup, confident, so happy.
Hope everyone is SAFE, and feeling well today.
-
I can't get a good picture of Margo and Roxie playing - they are to fast. But did get this sort of one. This is Roxies safe spot on the porch Margo can't get up there.
-
-
EWB, can't wait to see the pics of Caity and her friends.
Thanks for sharing your pics Cathi. I was just checking them out on FB! Awesome!!
-
Awww, Margo loves her Daddy!!! How sweet. I love when men can appreciate the love from their furbabies. Tells me , Ed has a big compasionate heart. And hes not afraid to show it. Kudos to you Ed.
Hello all my wonderful sisters and UB. It has been to long. My , gosh I don't know what to call him , I guess roommate , is not doing so well. Memorial weekend we ended up at the ER. Pain and numbing in his foot , then a swelling and pain in the goin area. They thought , like I did , it was a clot. After 8 hours of waiting in the ER , they did some blood work and an ultrasound of the vien. No clot. But then , this past Tuesday , they did a cath of the arteries and it is really bad. He has almost total blockage. The doc said it souldn't be this bad from the last surgery he had. So it looks like he will need another surgery. This time it is more serious. He has alot of toe pain. His feet and toes look awful. I hope they can get the blood flowing before its too late. I am so stressed out. I had to miss work for the cath , we are slow at work , but they are coping the attitude , if you miss work now , you must really not need a job. So , everyone is trying not to miss work. I have requested a vacation day next week. My best friend from Fla. is coming up. Plus , I am trying not to use all my vacation time , cause I am suppose to be going to see my family in Tenn. sometime this summer. Ladies , we could sure us some prays right now. I'm trying to prioritize and get my life in some order. But so much is happening. When things get this way , I tend to cocoon myself away from everything and everybody. Cause I just don't know what to do.
To everyone that is going through a rough time right now , I am praying for you. Jule and David , Lisa and Kim , (praying for Pams soul and healing for the family) , Cathi and Jacklyn , Cheryl and her son , Karen and Portia and Rheul , Nancy and her father , and I hope your daughter Emily , has an awesome night/weekend! Leesa , hope you are healing and all will be fine for you.
Jane , glad you were able to go see your sister and mum. I pray that God will keep your mom in a peaceful state on her journey. May she only feel the love that is felt in so many hearts for her.
Elaine , I love you! You posts are soooo heartfelt and just. I pray the Lord blesses you till your cup runneth over.
Shirlann , So glad to here the hips are in good shape! But sorry that you are still in pain. And I really feel for your son. I had anxiety attacks daily at one time in my life. They are horrible. I took xanax. It really helped me. But after my divorce , I didn't need it anymore. But I still have them occasionally. And big time when I was dx. Sometimes there is a cause for them , and sometimes , they just seem to happen. I hope he is doing better.
OK , My real question is , WHERE IS JUDIE??? Did she go somewhere? The last I read here, she was helping take care of Connor. I tried to read back , but I can't find her. Judie , I hope all is well , and you are off somewhere having an awesome time. If not , please check in. I am worried.
Val , where are you? How is UB? Maybe I missed you. I hope you both are doing well.
Welcome to all the newbies.
Hi Makraz , Sheila , Kanloni , Sue , Barbe , Netts , Debbie , and all that are reading this. May the Lord lift you all up and carry you though the rough times. And may the Lord Bless you all with everything you need in your lifetime. And may you always here The Lords words in your ears , speak His words on your lips , and feel His love in your hearts. xxxx Mel
Thank you Lord for all my sisters and UB!
-
Mel,
Thanks for checking in. Sounds like life has been very crazy. I hope your room mate gets the help he needs and recovers quickly. It seems like you two have been through a lot.
Have fun with your friend from Florida!!
Wil be thinking of you and keeping you and your roommate in my prayers.
Linda
-
Thanks Linda! I think I am going to take a vacation day when my girlfriend comes up , and we are gonna go back to places we use to go to and have fun! A place called "tinkers creek" and the best pizza place ever in a place called mayfield Heights. I think we will just take the whole day and just go where ever my kia leads us!
-
Mel, I was wondering where Judie was, but then she said on FB that she had a trip coming up, so let's think of her traveling the West, getting together with family and having a real good time.
Well ladies, my stress level for the week hit an all-time high tonight. My daughter was late getting ready, her boyfriend was late getting ready (so we had to pick him up, which put us about 14 miles out of the way), so they missed their limo/party bus ride to the Prom. I was all set to drive them (but I was on "E" and riding on fumes), when another friend texted Em and offered them a ride in their Mercedes. Better deal, I thought. Anyway, here are the very few pix I got...two of Em at home before we left, and one of her boyfriend, Kyle, as they transferred to the Merc.
I love that he wore comfy shoes.
And DON'T LOOK AT HER HEM.
-
Nancy,
Love the pics, love the sneakers! Your daughter has your eyes and is absolutely gorgeous!! What a dress!! She is beautiful!! No hem issues!
Mel, Have fun whever your Kia leads you. Sounds like a great plan!!
-
Oh Nancy! She's just gorgeous! I notice he brought comfortable pants too! hehehehe
Did they learn anything by being late? Like life moves on without them? Did they have to pay for the limo...?
-
Nancy , Wow! Your daughter is GORGEOUS! She looked perfect! The jewlry was awesome , her hair and nails looked great! Kyle , looks cute as hell! Love the shoes. He dares to be different , love it. I'm sure they are having an awesome time , and Kyle is in seventh heaven! I can't wait till she comes home and tells you all about it! Shes' simply beautiful Nancy. You did good.xxxx
