I didn't know that stat!!!!!!!!!!! Now I'M scared.....
-
Me either! Is that true Shirlann?? Of course it is otherwise you wouldn't have posted it.
-
Ahhh Sue - so good to see your rants again! They are SO POWERFUL!! I hope that made you feel better! xoxox
-
Nancy - so glad your father is feeling better. It's so worrying when a frail, elderly parent is sick.
My little mum has been quite unwell again this week. Every time, my sister rings me to tell me and we both wonder if this is 'it' but then she rallies again. She will be 92 next month so of course there will come a time when she doesn't recover. She has requested that no unreasonable measures will be taken to prolong her life.
Hugs to you and everyone.
Jane xxx

Jane, HUGS to you too. I hope your Mom is feeling better.

Sue, You need to be the one controlling your thoughts. I know it can be scary but you are stronger than that ole bootface. (and I still love your rants) I sometimes wonder if I am dwelling too much on bootface by hanging around this site, but I want to be able to help someone else dealing with this.
My hand is responding to the wraps, my gauntlet is on order and should be here by Friday. The swelling has been reduced a total of 4 cm (over 4 sites on my hand and arm) but until the gauntlet gets here, I have to keep my hand wrapped. Last Friday, Sandy sent me home with extra bandages and gauze sleeves so I could unwrap and re-wrap it myself. Yesterday Ian unwrapped what I did on Sunday and said that it looked good, I had the wraps where I needed them and in the proper sequence. He send more home with me yesterday so I could rewrap it again tomorrow.
Jane, sorry to hear about your mother not doing well, my grandmother will be 95 on the 22nd, she is still going strong, although not as agile as she has been in the past. We are having a big birthday party for her with family all coming in from out of town on Saturday 23rd. Mom has counted and I think there will be 45 - 50 people here for her birthday party. Fortunately all the family from OH will be staying in hotels.

lvtwoqlt, glad to hear that! I was doing yard work yesterday and thought about you the whole time, wondering how you were doing! Nice to know you are thought about, eh? Thanks for the update!
-
Barbe, didn't mean to not post the good news, just am having a hard time typing with this 'boxing glove' or cast type wrap on my hand. Everyone who sees me asks What did you do to your hand/arm!, Did you punch Donald
. Then I go into the explanations that I had some slight swelling in my hand from weed-eating and the therapist wants me to wear this for a while. I can't do any hand sewing with this on and my mother had to finish my wall hanging for my grandmother just to make sure that it was finished for her party.

Hi everyone! My stupid laptop is having issues again, so I had to wait until Portia's computer was available to use.
I'm so glad to hear that your arm is improving, Sheila. I imagine all those bandages are cumbersome, but we have to do whatever works.
Mel, how's your back hon? Better, I hope.
Hi Lisa! Sounds like you and Mike have a nice friendship going. I guess at some point you'll have to be honest with him. Does he seem like the type of guy who can accept just being friends? Have fun in Atlanta!
Sue, honey, I know exactly how you feel. I just have this sick feeling in my gut that bootface will come back. Even after having the MRI and CT scan that showed no mets. I know I'm being paranoid, but I just ache so badly all over. Thank you for the rant. I miss those!!!! They always make me feel better. ((((((((Sue))))))))
Shirlann! I miss you too! How have you been? How's Walt? Please don't be a stranger!
Hi Jane, Barbe, Cathi, and all my dear sisters! Love you all!

Karen

Sheila - glad the swelling is going down and hope you can take the "boxing glove" off soon!
Linda - you are just like your photo - a ray of sunshine.
Karen, I wish you could get a brand new laptop - you need your own! Mine died after 7 years and now I have a 3rd hand one. It just doesn't feel right and I don't know how long it will last. It has strange idiosyncracies.
Lisa, I hope things work out, one way or another, with Mike. He sounds nice but, if the chemistry isn't there, it's impossible to force it.
Shirlann, Jule, Judie, Sue, Linda, Sheila, Mel, Lisa, UB & AE, Patoo, Barb, Elaine, Nancy, Ulla, Karen, Debbie, Cheryl, Nettie, Cathi, Wren, Leesa, everyone,

Jane- so good to hear about your mum!
Sue- the waters run deep with you, I think! Nice to hear from you, I am amazed at how much I have come to consider you all friends. Even when I don't feel up to posting, always check in to see how everyone is doing and miss reading posts when any of us takes a holiday from the bds!
Hope all are well today
-
How wonderful that your mum's feeling better, Jane. She must be such a dear, sweet woman, to have raised such a special lady as you! Big hugs are going out to you, Jane!
Hi Elaine! You've become so important to all of us here, as well! Love you to pieces, Elaine!
Sue, I can't find Ulla on Facebook either. She was one of my friends, and now she's gone. Maybe she had her account removed? I miss her. She's such a sweetheart.
Well, I fiddled with my computer and somehow fixed the problem (for the time being, anyway). I don't know what was wrong. The mouse wouldn't move my "pencil" as Shirlann calls it. I did sort of a system reboot and now it works again. Go figure!
Oh! Guess what we're doing this weekend? We're renting a motorhome and going camping at the beach. We're also looking for a used trailer or motorhome to purchase so we can go camping more often. Also, Rhuel wants to park it on our property so he can live in it while the house is being built.
Hugs,
Karen
-
Karen, the motorhome sounds like a great idea! And a weekend camping at the beach - how wonderful! Hope you have a fantastic time - I'll bet Portia and Chase are looking forward to it. Thank you for your sweet and kind words - you are such a darling!
Well, after walking the streets for hours this morning I finally bought my mother a gift for Mothers Day. It's hard to choose something for her now. I settled for some face cream and some chocolates. She has dry skin and has always gone to bed at night with her face smothered in moisturiser. When I was little, she used to use Ponds "Cold Cream" (I wonder if that was its real name or her term for it?). I'm sure that if I could smell it now, I would be transported back to being 4 or 5 again. I couldn't find the right card so I eventually made my own. A while ago I bought a packet of blank cards with a 'picture window' in each one for pasting a photo or drawing/painting your own picture. She has always loved little lambs so I drew one lying in green grass surrounded by flowers and used some watercolour pencils to brighten it up. I hope she likes it!
Karen, I feel the same way about all the wonderful people here. I can't go for more than a day or so without at least stopping by to read.
Fumi, come baaaaaack! I love your photos on facebook!
xoxo
-
Jane what perfect gifts for your mum!!!!! AND a hand-made card! That shows more love than a store bought. I have saved the hand-made ones from my kids.....(do not know why, but I did!)
Karen, to make it sound romantic, call it a caravan, Shiny would. Are you going to use the bathroom in the house though? (I would! if I could!) What a great idea for camping, so much more civilized than a tent...have a blast! My DH and I have always wanted to get the rock-star kind of motorhome and just F%?K off and go where and when we wanted and to hell with tax time and deadlines and mortgages......sigh.....Let us know how it goes.
Elaine, are you feeling better?
-
Karen,
I agree! What a great idea. I'm sure you will have fun. The beach I go to in the summer is a four wheel drive beach and they allow campers for the weekends. My DH and I are always jealous! Have a blast!
-
-
Jane, there is a brand of cold cream made by Ponds. My mother used to use it all the time, but now she just uses a different moisterizer. and your card will mean so much more than a store bought card.
Sue good to see you are fighting off the footface thoughts.
Karen, I haven't been camping in years. The last time I went camping was in 2001, we spent a week in August with the Avaiation Explorers at the Oshkosh Wisconsin Air show in a tent. There were porta-johns in our area and the community shower house was about 1/4 mile away. there were trams that would take you to the shower house. It was an exciting week, with air shows every afternoon and plenty to see and do.

when I began to lose my hair, I let my 18 year old give me a mohawk! It lets them see that I am ok with this journey, and realize it is just a journey that we all will have to walk together. But, my oncologist shared with me a story to share with them. Their grandpa just died of Leukemia, December 2007, so the word cancer scares them (kids) as well as us. He said this cancer is an elephant, huge. This cancer, breast cancer, is a mouse. Although they are both mammals, they both have hair, they both are warm blooded, they both have 4 legs, they have similarities. But, that is about where the similarities stop. It takes a lot more to kill an elephant, more powerful stuff, and sometimes we can't. But, breast cancer is a mouse....it don't take much to kill a mouse. We will kill this. We will fix you, and you will dance at your 4 year old's wedding!! I promise you.

sisters...I will post in a minute..going on my lunch break!! Read most of the posts..so will reply and comment...xoxo! Sue..love you!!! and so glad Our Dorothy is back!!!WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

In our lives, we suffer a lot.. We walk through on several trials, that causes us to give up. Sometimes we think life is so unfair because of the hindrance we've been through. We struggle a lot to survive, but when things went wrong and everything is gone, we find someone to blame on and ask "why me?"..But things are just not constant, things may come and go, if not today, tommorrow, or never. But we need to value things that comes along our way, looking back the past may serve as our guidance to a new and better path forward..
"Every problem has a gift inside. We seek problems because we want their gifts."
