Shirlanni: I have been meaning to tell you that the cat in your avatar (yours, I am assuming) looks exactly like my Oliver. Every time I see your messages I think about him!
Geebung: What a wonderful surprise - how delightful.
Again - to all, Happy Mothers Day!

Hi all , Hope everyone is having a beautiful Mothers Day!
-
Hi Ladies-
Just wanted to wish everyone a very Happy Mother's Day. We have beautiful weather here In New Jersey today. Hope everyone has a great day. Now to change the subject- I have been meaning to ask Jane this for some time now and always forget as I don't post very often. I am a voracious reader and back in the 80's discovered an Australian writer named Rodney Hall, whose books I have become quite fond of. Jane, if you are familiar with Hall's books I was wondering what your opinion is of his work? The one book of his that I always recommend to people just discovering his work is a book called "Captivity Captive". Ladies, if you are looking for some summer reading, I strongly recommend this book. It is a fictionalized account of an actual triple murder that occurred in Australia on Christmas Day in 1898. From the opening pages of the murderer's deathbed confession through to the end, the writing is captivating as Hall details life in rural Australia. The book is narrated by one of the family members, now an elderly man. Sadly, Hall's books are hard to come by here in the states. You will probably have to order them on Amazon. Rodney Hall is certainly one of the finest writers in the world today, and more Americans need to discover his talent. That concludes my Mother's Day book review for this year. Have a great day everyone.

A hearty Happy Mother's Day to my amazing sisters, especially AE, who has mothered each of us along the Yellow Brick Road. You are all amazing.
Shirlann, my offspring all keep any gray hairs well-hidden! They have to stay young for my sake, don't they? They are still my babies...every one of them.
Sheila, how wonderful are your limitations! Knowing you, there will be a way around the handwork ones, though!
Jane, those boys are the best. But then knowing their mom, I'm not surprised in the least.
My two girls who live locally are coming in an hour or so for a free-form "girls day out"...walking in the beautiful day, shopping downtown, eating...all that stuff. It's my first mother's day with only four children and could be sad, but I'm determined to focus on present joy and save sadness for another day. Connor is all excited to see his aunties for a bit, then will go to the "other" grandparents while the girls and I play.
What a romantic wedding you have ahead, Barbe. Your dress sounds spectacular, the setting divine, the occasion joyful. My wish for you is perfection of the pleasure, even as the usual imperfections of occasion arise.
Off to shower...the girls will be here in an hour. Love you all,
Judie

Hi Ladies- It's me again. Valerie gave me hell for what she said was a "boring" post and wasting peoples time. So if anyone found my post boring, my apologies.
See ya!

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL OF MY BEAUTIFUL SISTERS HERE!!!
I am soooooooooooooooo thrilled about Val and Bill's trip to England!!! I was so excited when I read it here, that I almost shouted outloud here at work!!! I am so happy for all 3 of you! Val...what a very sweet and generous friend you have! I would love to come! Sue..some day, I will get my passport renewed..and possibly, my daughter Danni and I will come to Manchester to pop in for a visit! Love ya Sue!!!
Jane...Oh my, not only have you raised 3 handsome wonderful sons, but I was so tickled reading your post..you also raised son's who deeply LOVE there special mom!! What an awesome surprise!! As you described it all...I had all the visions in my head!! What a glorious day for you!! You are special and deserve every bit of happiness!
Mel...hon, I am so sorry about your back. I have had back problems over the years, and they really are a pain in the butt! lol. Seriously...I know how you feel, especially with the problems sleeping. I hope it's getting better for you. Enjoy your Mother's day. Are you seeing Adam today? If not...do something to pamper yourself.
I am working today. Not a big deal. Olivia is the only one home anyhow.
I had a busy 2 days off. Olivia's 18th b'day on Friday. Alise was home, and we all went to a Hibachi place for dinner. It was a pricey dinner..but, hey, how often do I get to go out with 2 of my daughters? We did have a little fight on the way home......grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...my Alise..love her to death..but she really has some issues to work out. I feel for her, cause I know what it feels like. But she really lashes out at me, and takes it out all on me. I know I am not the best person around..but I also know I am not the horrible person she can make me out to be. We got things worked out and she agreed that after she moves back home next week for the summer, she is going to go talk with someone. I think some meds will do wonders for her. Gotta love them all!! lol. Then Olivia had her prom last night...everything seemed to go smoothly. She looked stunning. Pics to follow...I PROMISE!
Shirlann...omg...I laughed so hard at your comment about the grey haired men! LOL...you are so funny!! That was a good laugh!
Karen, I am sure you have enjoyed your camping weekend at the beach!! Sounds like a fun time. I love to camp!!
Well sisters...love and hugs to all, and esp. to those I did not mention..you know my love is for each and everyone of you.
UB...I loved reading your reccomendation. Like Barbe...I like murders and mysteries!!
Back to work!
xoxo

Lisa, I CANNOT wait to see the dress pictures!!!!!
-
Oh Barbe...I thought of you last night...lol. Knowing how much you liked the dress. Olivia has very long dark hair..and she wore it up..but not in the typical curly updo. She had some small braids in the front that wrapped around to the back and then in a "messy" bun. Very cute.
It was very different than most of the "prom" dresses. She has never cared for the puffy, princess style dresses. They just are not her style. My middle daughter liked them. Olivia likes slinky better...lol. There were not many duplicated dresses either. They have a Promenade..where each couple comes out and they are announced...so it's nice to see all of them.
She looked very elegant! I am sure she has the pics uploaded already. So I will have to try and remember my photobucked password (it's been forever) and see if I can get a few on here.
I WISH I WAS A SIZE 2!!! SO THAT I CAN WEAR IT!! HECK...I WOULDN'T HAVE ANYPLACE TO WEAR IT TOO...BUT GOSH DARN IT..I WOULD FIND SOMEWHERE! LOL
-
'scuse me UB, but I think Valerie's comment was pure fabrication on your part. She knows we all find every word from you fascinating! I read an Australian novel "Beyond Duck River" by Angela Martin a few years ago. It was also loosely based on a true story and was riveting. Barbe, "The Devil in the White City" by Erik Larson. Murder, murder and more murder! Let me know if you want more.
News flash: I have a new lump and didn't for a second consider bootface as the culprit. A significant milestone! (it's clearly a ganglion cyst on my right wrist)
Time with my daughters was perfect! I love being a mom.
-
Barbe, if any of my sons ever get married, I think they should elope so their father and I don't have to be anywhere near each other. I left him (he was having an affair with a New Zealander) and he has never forgiven me and hates the sight of me! His wife (the NZer) also seems to hate my boys and me so what a fun little social occasion that would be! LOL! It's so strange how people can simmer for decades and not put stuff behind them. My boys are very close to their two half brothers so it's not all bad, I guess.
Lisa, disagreements with your kids can be very upsetting. One of my boys used be a bit prickly about things but seems to have mellowed a little now. Perhaps the dynamics with daughters are different? Issues or not, I commend you both (particularly you for your strength and understanding) for being able to talk it out - that shows balance and maturity. Elise will sort out whatever is worrying her and I'm glad she is open to counselling etc to help her. Can't wait to to pics of Olivia - what a beauty she is!
AE, I have heard of Rodney Hall - which books of his have you not read? Just googled him - his latest book seems to be 'Love without Hope' (2007). Have you read that one? I'm afraid I haven't read any of his. I don't think I have ever read any murder mysteries...maybe I should! I rather like Tim Winton (Cloudstreet, Breath etc), Kate Grenville, Janette Turner Hospital and many more.
Judie, I hope you had a wonderful day with your two daughters. Sounds like just the sort of day I would love - my sister and I do that when we are together. My heart aches for your sadness. What is the treatment for a ganglion? I heard that the old-fashioned treatment was to hit a ganglion with a big old family Bible - how dreadful! Why a Bible? Is this a myth? Why hit it? Has anyone else heard of this?
Mel, I hope your back is improving. Are you having any physiotherapy or other treatment for it? Gentle hugs to you, sweet one.
Karen - how was your weekend? Hope it was great!
Sue - did you have Sunday off? Hope you were able to convince your sons that it was Mother's Day - again! I read yesterday that you have your MD in March.
UB - you are pulling our legs!
Love to everyone

I seem to be having problems with photobucket. I picked out at least 6 pictures from prom. I may even include one of me and Liv, but I look absolutely horrid in it!! Anyhow...not sure what I am doing wrong..but I am unable to upload them to photobucket. It's been awhile since I have done that, so..any help would be appreciated.
Judie..so glad you enjoyed your day with your 2 daughters. (((JUDIE))))
Funny Jane, how your ex is the one who hasn't forgiven you!!! Isn't HE the one who had the affair?? Oh my! Thanks for you kind words. Talking things out with Alise, is never easy!! I could write a book. I know with counseling she will handle things much better. She has been through allot, and I think Mother's day, tends to be hard for her.
Judie..my ex had one of those cysts on his head. And yes, Jane..you can use a bible to break it up. I would have loved to slam a hard large heavy book against my ex's head...lol
Ok..I will wait for advice on uploading my pics. Or possibly I could email them to someone who can post them for me.
xoxo

I am soooooo stiff and sore this morning. When I am with the boys I feel a lot younger - but, surprise surprise - I'm not! Yesterday when I fell I grabbed the edge of the boulder with my left hand and held on in a funny position until they could rescue me. I have mild LE in that arm and this morning it is rather sore and feels a bit swollen - especially under the arm and across my scar. Yowch! Well, I was an idiot to jump onto the rock in the first place so I don't deserve any sympathy!
-
Sorry Lisa - I have forgotten how to use photobucket.
Yes, maybe a heavy book on an ex's head might help them wake up to themselves - lol!
-
You may not feel like you deserve sympathy...but I am giving you some my dear Jane. I am sorry you are sore...you were trying to keep up with the boys and enjoy yourself in the canyon. I hope the arm doesn't start swelling today. Take good care of it. I am stiff and sore every morning...so I guess it's all part of getting older...it's not fare..wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. LOL
-
Awww Lisa, deserved on not, sympathy is always welcome - lol! xxx

-
I deleted the post where I tried to do the pics...it was taking up too much space..and taking long to open. Sorry girls..and the pics are sooooooooooo good! lol
-
Someone help Lisa! QUICK!!!!!!
-
Barbe..if I emailed them to you....can you post pics???
-
I'm no good at it either! I had an anxious email out for Deb-from-Ohio to help me....
-
...and then I still couldn't do it!
-
Lisa, is it uploading to Photobucket or posting here? If the latter, here's how:
Go to the picture in Photobucket.
Mouse over it and up will pop three choices: Email &IM, Direct Link and IMG Code.
Right click on Direct Link and select "copy"
Come here and in your reply, click on the icon next to the smiley face that is sort of green and looks kind of like a tree.
Right click in the "Image URL" box, paste, then click "Insert"
Good luck!
-
Also, Lisa, if you email them, I'd be happy to post for you.
-
We need a photo instruction button at the top of each page. Is it possible to make a link to directions? I know I can't do it, but perhaps someone else can.
