Hi Ladies and UB , Thanks for all your kind words. My back is still hurting. The doc gave me some muscle relaxers and an anti-inflamatory. Its really odd. I was feeling better yesterday , then today it hurt more. But in a different area. And I can't lay down in my bed! If I do , I sleep about 3 hrs. and then it gets me up hurting. So I have to go to the recliner. Its the only thing that helps. Gosh , it just never ends. So if its not gone in ten days , I have to go back to the docs. I must say, I AM SICKKKKKKKK OF DOCTORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK , I feel better...
OH yeah , before I forget , I think what Shirlann was talking about , when she said after two yrs. out chances are very good it won't come back , she was talking about triple negative bootfaces.
Jane , glad to hear your mum is feeling better. God Bless her. And yes , I remember ponds cold cream! My mom used it too. And just like the smell of the original Jergens hand cream , it transports me back in time , to when I was a little girl and loved the smell of my mommy! Oh I wish I could see the card you made. I'm sure it is lovely. And Barbe is right , home made is the best kind. Cause all of your heart and love is in it. You are a wonderful daughter. And when you get to see her , I hope you and your mum have a beautiful day together.
Sheila , glad your hand is better. What is a gaunlet? Is that the "glove-like" thing for your hand? Sorry to hear the wrap is so uncomfortable. But at least it is helping.
Sounds like a great party is in the works for grandma! God Bless her. Hope you all had a great time.
Hi Elaine! I'm so glad you are here! I think we have such a great group of ladies and UB here. I feel very fortunate to be apart of it all. Thank you for being you!xxxx
Hey Debbie , where are you? Did you go to the docs yet? I hope you are feeling better. You too are a shinning star here. And am so glad to know you. Let us know how it went at the docs.
Karen , how fun is that gonna be!?! I am so jealous. I would love to go camping. Growing up , thats all we did. And it was so much fun. I hope you all have a great time. Don't forget to take the camera! Lots of pics please.
Hi Lisa , you are such a busy girl! Make sure you take some "me time". So Mike doesn't push your buttons. Well , thats good that you can say that and not just settle. Don't be discouraged , I have no doubt that you will find mistah right! So kiss a few frogs. It will be worth it when you find your prince!
AUNTIE EM AND UNCLE BILL ARE GOING TO SEE SUE!?!!!!!!!!???! You all better have lots of cameras , cause I want lots of pictures!!! How exciting. Sue , you must be so high right now! I am sooooo happy for you all. When is this "Emerald City" meeting taking place? Sue , you must meet them at the airport wearing your red shoes! I'm gonna cry. This is so great. Please give us more details as soon as you know.
OK , my back is hurting sitting here , so I must go to the recliner.
OH shoot , I wanted to say more. Cathi , how is your daughter doing? Any updates? Still praying for her.
Makraz , you are soooo funny. I wish we lived closer! I would just love to hang out with you! Hope you are having a good moment.
Love to everyone here , take care ttyl. Mel

Mel!! So glad to hear from you! We miss you everyday. That really sucks about your back. I would have thought you would be feeling better by now. 10 days!! I know what your mean about doctors, I think we are all sick of them!! What is the next plan of action when you go back to the doctor? I sure hope they can help you! Take your pain meds like a good girl. Sometimes taking them even when you don't think you need them can be beneficial. You may feel a tad bit better and try to do something and whammo! you're back to square one! Just try and rest. We miss you. Take care.
PS If I lived closer I would come over and take care of you!
-
(((((Mel))))) - I'm so sorry to hear that your back is still sore. Sitting for too long is the worst. From what I have experienced, you feel better lying than sitting or walking rather than standing but I'm no expert - there are so many different back problems. I do hope you feel better soon.
Hugs to you all,
Jane xoxoxxo

Hi Ladies -
I see Sue beat me!! hahahaha. It's true..................UB & I ARE GOING TO MEET OUR DOROTHY!!!!! WOOHOOO!!!!
We could not have done it if it weren't for one of my bestest friends - she knows all about you ladies and when I told her I would love to meet up with Sue she sent me the money for airfare!!!! So all we need is some spending money!!
It will be a quick trip - we are flying into London July 16 and taking the train to Manchester - spending 2 days there with Sue and returning to London (hopefully with Sue in tow) and spending 2 days there. Then flying home on the 21st.
I still can't believe we are doing it. UB is sooooooo looking forward to taking a break in his chemo to do it.
WE CAN'T WAIT!!!! Wish you were are going with us!!!
AE
-
AE, we WILL be with you! We will be the elephants making your luggage over-weight! hhehehehehehe
I think having a shorter trip will make it easier to enjoy every moment rather than thinking, oh we can do it later...
-
AE - Sounds like a perfect vacation. I'm sure you will all have fun. Be sure to post pictures. I know Sue is so excited too! What a nice friend you have!!
-
Mel- good to hear from you. So sorry that you are still having back pain
.
-
AE - what a generous, lovely friend to do that for you, Bill & Sue! Barbe is right - we will all be with you in spirit!
-
Mel, I have had back pain off and on for years and I know it is no fun. The last time I had major back pain, the doctor put a cortizone shot in my back and it helped. I am not saying that is what will help you but it helped me.
Auntie Em and Uncle Bill, Can I come too!! Oh wait a minute, I will be going to Ohio for a reunion that week. Hope all have fun.
Sheila
-
Hi everyone! Just wanted to pop in before leaving for the beach. Love you all! Have a great weekend!!!
Love and hugs to all,
Karen
-
Karen,
I'm so jealous!
Have fun!!
-
Karen! Have a blast! Take lots of pics! Post some of them here! I will vacation vicariously through you as I work through till Monday....sigh.
Mel, I've had 2 epidurals in my back and 2 in my neck for pain management. Back pain affects every second of your being. You have to be pain-free to heal. I hope your doc has you on strong pain meds.
Gentle hugs (( ))
-
Mel - back pain sucks - make yourself a good strong stiff drink!!!!!! (or 2 or 3).
Hope all you wonderful mom's out there have a FANTASTIC SUNDAY , XOXOXOXXOXOOXO
-
I went back to the therapist this afternoon and they took me out of the wraps and I have a gauntlet now. It is a little strange feeling but I will get used to it. They told me no more yard work (woo-hoo!), preferred I not do any dishes by hand (WOO-HOO!!), and if I did any hand quilting, to take frequent breaks and flex my hand 15-20 times over my head to pump the lymph fluid out of my hand and any other activites with my hand, if my hand feels fatigued, stop what I am doing right then. Some of the restrictions are easy to do, others will take some time to get used to doing or not doing them. The therapists office orders the gauntlet and sleeve and sells them at cost, so they are cheaper than if I went to the store and purchased them.
I hope all have a wonderful Mother's Day on Sunday.
Sheila
-
Sheila, wonderful news! Yah gotta keep the quiltin' tho....
-
Sheila - sounds as though your therapist is on the ball. Great to hear that you are improving. It takes a while to get the hang of the restrictions but, with careful management, this should be reversible. Nothing like early dx to get on top of it.
Barbe - love your term "vicarious vacation"! Yep, we are all there with Karen and her family in the motor home. Listen to the waves, smell that salt air...mmmm... feels like early summer.
We celebrated Mothers Day early as all the restaurants are going to so crowded tomorrow and it's going to be cold and rainy. Today was the classic, perfect autumn day - blue skys, crisp air, the leaves breathtakingly bright and beautiful.
Happy Mothers Day to everyone for tomorrow - hope you all have a wonderful day - including Sue - I think you have Mothering Sunday at a different time of the year but maybe you could convince the boys to make you breakfast in bed?! I think I read somewhere that you are fighting off the flu - you need some pampering!
Hugs,
Jane xoxox

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY and "lucky you" to those who were blessed with no children.
My, that sounds snappy. I love my kids and LOVED my babies, but who are these big, grey haired men??? hahahaha
Love you all, have a great day! Shirlann
-
Oh Shirlann - they will always be your babies - grey hair and all! And I bet they adore you - who wouldn't?
Yesterday my husband took 3 of us (his mum, sister & me) out for an early Mothers Day lunch. My 3 sons said they would drive up to spend the day with me today. I told them it was too far to come in one day and they agreed. I was in bed this morning with newspaper, cat & cup of tea. They rang to wish me happy MD - said they were "on their way to the beach". Not long afterwards there was a loud knock at the door. What a wonderful surprise to see their faces! They hustled me out of bed, out to the car and before I knew where I was I was on a 4-hour walk through a canyon. Beautiful! Then back to a restaurant and a well-earned lunch. They have just left. It was lots of fun - apart from slipping on a mossy rock on my hip but even that had its funny side as they peeled me off the rock.
Love to all xxx
-
What a great surprise geebug! I have to go to work today, so I don't even know if I'll hear from anyone, or just come home to phone messages......
My birthday is next week so I usually get only one appearance, if any from them anyway. The week after that we're all going to the Dominican for my older daughters wedding so at least we'll be together for DHs birthday on the 20th.
-
Wow Barbe - you have a busy week or so ahead of you! Sorry you have to work on MD. Do you mean the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean? What a romantic and beautiful setting for a wedding! Will you be going there early to help with the wedding preparations or will everything be organised before you get there?
Jane
-
Jane, my ex is going early so HE can do it with his little wifey poo. I just want to relax! Yep, in the Republic!
