Cathi, the muscles in my upper arm (tricep area) have recovered from the use (not used to lifting something, only used to typing on the keyboard) my hand doesn't hurt, just still looks swelled. If I go swimming it is at my brother's pool in his back yard. I don't like to reveal alot of me in suits so I usually look for the suits that are the 'swimdresses' or swimshorts with the tankini tops that do cover alot of my white belly.

Well, I'm back from having my CT scan.  They had yet ANOTHER big cup full of that sludge to drink when I got there!  Blahhhhh!!!!  I looked at the woman like, "are you kidding me?"  Anyway, it's over with.  I should have results of both procedures no later than mid-week (unless they see something of major concern, then they'll call my onc sooner).

Cathi, your grandson is a total doll!!!!

    Love and hugs to all,

    Karen

Hoping for good results Karen.  Brandt is a doll face and such a good baby, Alexcis was good but he even has her beat, he will be 10/MO on 5/1 and I swear he has cried 10 times ( once a month) he is always smiling and happy.

Linda I think we can thank Tamoxifen and menopause (I stopped Tamox along time ago) like I aid a few weeks ago I now have ASS BACK.  I don't need a skirt I need a dam table cloth.

Well, the MRI results are back:  negative for bootface (whoo hoo), but I do have a partially torn tendon in my hip.  WTF???  I can't imagine what I did to tear a tendon?!  Now I have to go see an ortho.  Please, no surgery!!!!  Rhuel will be even more convinced that I'm a lemon!  He doesn't even know that I've had these procedures.  OMG!  What if I need surgery on my hip AND have to have my gallbladder out???  He'll have a fit!

    Hugs to all,

    Karen

Karen - what a relief! Fantastic! No bootface! I'm sorry to hear about the torn tendon though - you poor thing - I wonder how that happened? I'm sure that Rhuel would be relieved but I understand why you haven't told him. What about your gallbladder?  Perhaps you have to have a different test to check that out.

Ladies, I've been reading but not much time to post, so here's a "hit-and-run." We're shooting to bring my dad home from the rehab/nursing home in three days (Friday). We cleaned out his room and "responsible brother" is looking into a hospital-style bed, supplies, and two shifts of aides to be with him while the rest of the household works/goes to school.

My sister says he's been better this week, looking chipper and more upbeat when she mentions his homecoming. I'm hoping it's the anti-depressants kicking in. He was so-o-o morose.

Sadly, we do have some bad news for him that we've been keeping. His old partner from work died over the weekend, and he was planning to go visit him just before he got sick. (They were in the FBI together, and then formed a private investigation agency after they retired.)  So it's probably been one of the things on his mind that will come to light as he becomes more calm. Don't know what to say that won't send him into a tail spin. His other former partner wants to come by and lift his spirits once he's home, so we may ask him not to mention it. I'm sure he'll never be well enough to make the five hour trip so it may all be a moot point.

I have a heart stress test in a couple of weeks. I've been having some shortness of breath and I think it's the Arimidex. But, since heart disease runs second only to cancer in my family, I will go through the test to be sure I'm just having an s/e.

Karen, double ugh on the sludge! My lab gives me something that's kind of citris flavored. But not any specific flavor...like they mixed up every citris fruit and made it as thick as mucous. I've tried to psych myself out of throwing up by telling myself I'm on a tropical beach and the drink has a little umbrella in it. LOL. I'm glad the results excluded bootface! Now here's hoping for similar results on the abdom CT.

    Cathi...I love your puppy pics!

Off to fold laundry. Pedestrian but necessary, and something I can do while watching TV.

I love the picture, Cathi!  Make sure to give Margo a rest between spins!  LOL!!!!

I'm glad your dad is feeling a bit better and that he'll be coming home soon, Nancy.  I'm very sorry to hear about his partner passing away.  I don't blame you for considering not even telling him.  Several of my dad's old friends died while he was sick with heart disease.  He took it soooo hard!  He was already depressed over his own situation and having to give up most of the things he loved to do.  News like that made him feel even worse.

I hope your stress test shows good results.  If it is the Arimidex, is there anything else you could take instead?

    Hugs,

    Karen

Cathi - very cute pic of you & Margot. Great bike too. The weather there is probably perfect for cycling right now.

Nancy, so good to know that your dad is feeling better. I'm so sorry to hear about his friend. Perhaps it would be best not to tell him unless it really becomes necessary? Sounds as though he is pretty "with-it" though and keeping the sad news from him probably won't be an option. He must be really looking forward to moving in with you. He is a lucky guy to have such great kids caring for him.

Nancy glad to hear your dad is recouperating fast and ready to come home, sorry though about the death of his partner.

Cathi, Love the pict and Margo seems just as happy with the bike ride as you did.

just got back from evaluation. Ian does say I have early stage LE in my left hand. He was amazed at my range of motion in my arms and hands. He said I could improve my bicep strength with light weights. He is having me start wearing an icentonor glove for compression (he gave me one with full fingers and one with 3/4 fingers so I can still use the keyboard) to see if it will help. I go back on Friday for an update to see if the light compression is working. If not we will go to the heavier compression glove/gauntlet.

He was impressed with how much I knew about LE and methods of caution to prevent it as well as treatment methods. I told him about the wonderful sisters of swell that have taught me well on this discussion board in the LE forum.

So great that you caught it early, Sheila!  That's so very important.  Good for you for being the squeaky wheel!

Well, the CT scan results are in and all they could find was a cyst on my right ovary.  I did some reading, and apparently, Tamoxifen puts you at a greater risk for them.  I feel so relieved!!  Thanks to you all for your support.  I've been so scared over the past couple of months.  Your words of comfort and support have been so important to me!  I love you all!

    Hugs,

    Karen

Sheila, now you can go educate the idiot secretaries at your doctors office!

Barbe, he had an ultrasound a while back for pain in his abdominal area.  They found NOTHING!  At least both my procedures actually showed reasons for my pain.  And WHO's the hypocondriac????

    Love ya!!!

Great news Karen! I'm so glad it's not your gall bladder. I had to laugh at what you said about your dh having a clear u/s (I'm glad it was clear) - but you're right - he can't possibly call you a hypochondriac!

Sheila - I'm so proud of you for seeing a LE specialist early! It should be quite reversible at this stage - with the right treatment.

    Wonderful news, Karen!

Jane, isn't the magic of our resident board gremlins interesting? You never know what will crop up.

Sheila, so glad you stayed with it until you got properly evaluated. We who have survived BC are a tough lot!

And those brief words are it, I'm afraid.

Speaking of afraid, I just found out that Connor arrives in two hours for the duration, and Mei leaves for China on Monday. It's been fun but challenging having him for 3-4 days per week. This will be 7 days per week for at least a month. I'm on the verge of a panic attack. Calm down Judie. You can do it. One day at a time. Hmmmm...familiar advice...when did I hear it before? Hey, I got through wrestling with bootface and I can do it with Connor. Different attitude, of course. <grin> (have to type it out...the smilies have stopped working for me.)

Oh my!  For at least a month, huh?  Well, on the bright side, you won't have to do any extra working out after running after him day in and day out.  Seriously though, I feel for you.  Chase is finally at an age where he can keep himself busy without getting into trouble.  I actually took a nap today!  That would have been unheard of just a year ago.  Don't know how I ever made it though chemo!

    Hang in there, my friend!

    Hugs,

    Karen

Judie, my sister went to Canada last year for the birth of her daughter's first baby. After the arrival of the infant, my niece and her dh thought it was a good idea to go out to dinner, shopping etc as much as possible while granny was there to look after the new bub. My sister would ring me and say how nervous she was (even though she is a mother of 3 herself) - every hiccup, wheeze or grunt made her worry the tiny creature was choking or on the verge of some health crisis! She felt so relieved to hand the baby back to her parents when they walked through the door. Full-time care of an active 2 - 3 year old would be much more exhausting. Perhaps it doesn't matter how laid-back you are as a parent - when it comes to grand-parenting, the responsibility must be much greater, plus lack of practice and being ever so slightly older! I'm sure you are doing a fantastic job but drugs and warm, lavender-scented, candle-lit baths after Connor is asleep at night might be a good idea. This time will pass and you will have good memories. I wish I'd had a mother like you when my kids were young - my mother has always been very un-grandmotherly!

GRRRR!!  I have another not-so-DH gripe (can it stand for damn husband??).  He just made the rudest comment to me!  I walked past him and he said, "wow, you've put on some serious "LB's"--your stomach is hanging over your pants".  You're one to talk Tubby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, I feel better.  Hope everyone's having a great night!

Karen, you are beautiful! Don't take any notice of him - I think a lot of men say this sort of thing to their women. Why??!! Does it make them feel good? The father of my kids systematically criticised every part of my body. I was with him from age 19 until just after I turned 30 so he had quite an effect on my self image. He did the same thing with each of the boys. I think I was able to counteract some of this criticism of them by telling them how gorgeous and wonderful they were/are (and they are!).

You are beautiful on the outside and on the inside. He doesn't know how lucky he is! Silly man!

    Love you, Jane!

Ah Karen, I know you don't want pity so I'll just say fu*k him!

I think men do that when they sense we have gained an "upper hand" confidence-wise and they have to knock us down a peg. My first DH (damn husband, love it!) was like that so I know.

So, that really means you're looking too good! You smokin' hot babe, you! He is worried you'll be attractive to other idiots. Or maybe someone who ISN'T an idiot.....Innocent
