Karen, Glad to hear about the MRI. I'm having one done in August and am nervous about it. I can stress out until then, how nice. Can you tell me what they do? I heard it takes about an hour and you have to be on your knees and hands? Is that right?
Let us know your results. Wishing for the best for you.
-
Linda! Don't fall for that one...I was on my stomach with my (then) breasts hanging through two rings. My body was ramped up so this contraption could fit under. Are you telling me that you guys have to be in THAT position? Like a Pap smear isn't enough? Can you imagine the view the techs have?????
-
Oh Barbe - I hope you are right!! I am so small breasted that I can't imagine my boobs going through rings! Now I need to hear from Karen! Karen, what did they do to you??
-
Hi ladies. I don't think Karen was having that kind of MRI. It was for her hip I believe. I'm thinking just a "lay on your back" kind of one. But I'm sure she will be here shortly to tell us. I had an MRI of my neck and upper back. That was just a lay on my back , in the small tube , and listen to the banging of the machine for 20 mins.
-
Mel's right. I had the MRI of my hip. I have had a breast MRI though, and I had to lay on my stomach with my boobies hanging through---just like Barbe said.
-
Hi Karen , How ya doin? Looks like you had a good time at the game. Chase too. Its been a long time since I went to a baseball game. I won a ticket to the world series when Cleveland was in it. Back in the nineties! I hope your MRI turns out to be arthritic. I am having so many aches and pains as well. Are you having beautiful weather there? We are here. It is 70 today , and actually hot in this apartment! I am staying with my ex-oh until I get enough money to get my own place. It just didn't work out for me at my friends place. But , I don't really mind. I love being with my Lilly and Sweetpea! And he and I always got along. I just can't take the chance of him "up and leaving" one day. So its best I get my own place. Or if I get laid off , I'm headed for Tennessee! I really would like to live by my family. As "crazy" as they can be at times , I sure do miss them.
Do you and DH have any plans for the weekend? Hows Portia doing? Think of that girl alot. So precious. Well Karen , praying and hoping for good results. Love ya honey , Mel
-
Hi to everyone,
Mel, I think you could get along with anyone - you are such a sweet soul. I pray it works out for you and you can get your own place. It must be great to be with your dear Lilly & Sweetpea again.
Cathi - I love the beautiful photos! As somebody said - it's hard to know who is the cuter! No wonder you are confused by the contradictory statements about Jaclyn's condition. This would make it so much harder - the waiting and the confusing info. I pray that you get a definite plan going soon.
Karen - hope you are feeling a little better and pray that your results will be good.
As far as the whole foob/swimwear/clothing thing is concerned. I think I look really peculiar in bras (mastectomy) now. I wish I could still wear my pretty ones but they wouldn't look the same even if I sewed a pocket in them. I donated all my pre-bc ones to a man who is planning to string a world record number of bras on a line to raise money for bc research.
A year or so ago, a poster on these boards gave a link to a range of clothes (I think it was New York based?) for single mastectomy women who didn't want to wear a prosthesis and wanted to look fashionable. The clothes were beautiful! And quite expensive. I wish I could remember the website - it might be possible to google it up.
I have visitors for the weekend - must stop and make some hot soup to warm them up when they get back from their walk.
Love to all,
Jane xxx

To all the nice ladies on this lines, I am sending you all a caring hug.
God bless you all, We are winner in this fight. Take care, Debbie
-
God Bless you too, Debbie. You are such a kind, sweet soul!
Hi Mel! I didn't know you were living with your ex again. You probably mentioned it, but I'm such an airhead. Can't remember my own name half the time. LOL! It's nice that the two of you still get along. I'm glad you're looking for your own place though. He doesn't sound like the most stable person in the world. You deserve so much better! Love you, Mel!!
Portia went to her Spring Formal tonight. She went stag. I guess a lot of her friends are doing the same. She wore a really cute short, yellow dress. She wanted her hair in an up-do. It's just to her shoulders, but I managed to put in in a sort of messy bun. Pretty cute. I'll post pictures tomorrow.
Hope you're all having a great evening!
Hugs,
Karen
-
Cathi, I keep forgetting to mention the pictures you posted. Alexcis and Margo are so sweet together! You are blessed.
Hugs,
Karen
-
Karen, I feel like an old fuddy duddy - but what does going "stag" to a formal mean?! Looking forward to seeing pics of Portia - bet she looked gorgeous!
Debbie - hugs right back to you, you sweet thing!
-
Geebug, going stag means going alone. That is a VERY sophisticated thing for her to do Karen! You give her a high-five from me and tell her she is a very wonderful woman of the 21st century! You must be so proud....
-
I can't believe how many girls and guys go stag to proms, formals etc. It was unheard of when I was in High School. I think it is absolutely great! These young ladies have empowered themselves! My neighbor went to the Jr. Prom last year, stag, and won Prom queen! I was so proud of her! She's the daughter I never had!!
-
Markatz, My first MRI was with me lying on my stomach with my then boobs hanging through the ring thing also. No pain. They put in a heplock (bottom portion of an IV and put dye in it so everything will light up). I'm a hard stick so that was the only pain involved. Remember if you are allergic to seafood or even just to shrimp, you need to let them know.
Cathi, I love the picture of Alexis and Margo - both of them. I wonder who is teaching who. LOL I hope and pray Jacklyn is ok. I would vote for a second opinion. That may be way her GYN is doing the Leep is to recheck the results. I know for a time at the lab here, they were mixing up patients lab and people were getting the wrong results if they received them at all. This was a few years ago. Just be careful.
Lisa - I am so proud of you and for you. You go girl. Have fun and live it up.
Mel- you are so great and have great words of wisdom and comfort. I love the pictures and they are so appropriate with what is going on at the time.
Love to you all, Leesa
-
Karen, I too am so pleased for your daughter. She is someone is is proud, confidente, and has a self-esteem.
Judy, I feel your pain, I have had my five grandchildren this weekend. I am so tired. They were in heaven. I'm very hoarse and unable to speak and the kids would do things as if to just try to get away with it because I couldn't fuss at them. They learned sign language real quick though, LOL. I love them dearly but boy do I feel a 100 and I'm only 45. The little one, 1 year old, has moved to a bigger class at daycare and she is learning how to throw a fit, it so funny.
UB, I read your post and it was the first one I have read. You are truly a lucky man, Not every man can say he has so many women who love him, think about him all the time and feel like they are the best besides his wife. LOL I'm only kidding - It was nice to hear from you and AE is the greatest. I know you are having a hard time with the chemo but AE loves you with all of heart and she loves having you. You can tell it in her words. I hope you start feeling better.
Leesa

Hi all, hope everyone had a good weekend. My brother was married on Froday, lovely bride (really like my new sil) lovely service everything went great! My sister was up this way for business trip and stayed the weekend with me- also great! We don't get much time to spend together so it was especially nice.
Barbe- I did not forget your question- will send pm.
-
Hi Ladies, I hope you all have a wonderful week. I am going to talk to
the new lady that work (social worker) at the new cancer place this week
and see what care be done to help me change and get better treatment.
I see me old Dr the 31, I hope and pray I can get things going and help myself
to work on feeling better. Mel thanks for the pep talks. Karen, You should be proud
of yourself, Nice job raising! Jane, Did you save me any soup? God bless you, Makaz,
Remember how you could not wear anything but formals, My the things the kids wear now!
To all the other wonderful friends, Take care and stay in the ring and fight! Hugs, Debbie
-
Hi ladies. Wow Leesa , I bow to you! 5 grandchildren for the weekend!?! If that was me , I'd have to go spend the night in the new "gin and tonic" room in the UK! You don't drink it , you just sit there and breath it in.lol You're a great grandma. I'm sure they had a wonderful time.
Good to see you here Debbie. Yes , see what you can do at the center. Hoping you find a caring doctor. Remember , the sweaky wheel gets the oil!
Ladies , on a very serious note , I don't know if any of you have read , on another post , there is a little 10 yr. old girl , who was just diagnosed with IDC. Her father , mom and grandma all posted there. And they have a web site that you can go to for her. Bootface is very calous , doesn't discriminate , we are all proof of that. But when it starts hitting our little ones , please God , something has to be done! I was so devistated to find out I had bootface , I can't even imagine what they are all feeling. Her name is Hannah , aka Sweetpea , (grandma's nickname for her). Please keep her in your prayers. She will be seeing the doctors tomorrow. This is so upsetting.
-
Hi again. Just thought I would post Hannah's web site in case anyone else would like to go there.xxxx
OurLittleSweetPea.com.
-
I did read about that, Mel. It's very upsetting. I've never heard of a child so young having bootface. What a horrible disease to attack little children. GRRRRRRR!!! I'll continue to pray for her.
-
I
Portia in her Spring Formal outfit.
I love this one (with the exception of Chase's Lego "decorations" in the background.
Hugs to everyone!
Karen
-
I'll say it again! Va va va voom!
-
Portia is lovely!
-
She looks just like her mom! What a beautiful dress! Hope she had fun!!
-
Good morning ladies (and UB)! I'm rushing to drink my coffee (no fluids allowed for two hours before my CT scan). At 10:00 I have to drink container #2 of that nasty barium sulfate suspension crap. GAG!!! It's horrible!!! Makes me want to vomit just thinking about it.
Have a great day, everyone!
Love and hugs,
Karen
-
Do you really see a resemblance, Linda? She looks JUST like her dad--even has a lot of his mannerisms.
-
Yes, Karen, it looks like she's got your eyes!
-
Hi all - busy weekend, lawn sale, shopping Sunday went suit hunting, no luck, but after 6 hours I did manage to find 2 nice tops, both the same style, but diffrent patterns, they are sorta like tube tops but have a center jewel that ties up around the neck so they don't slide down, just a bit gathered at the top so kinda gives an illusion I have "itty bitty tittys" (LOL) but no actual cups. Anyway Karen your DD is absolutely gorgeous, love her dress.
Linda the breast MRI I thought was more loud than anything, thats the part that got to me, even with head phones and music it gave me a head ache, as everyone has described, the boobies hang down through 2 holes, I actually had my knees bent up on some sort of pillow but I was able to keep my own pants on. Where I go they have this kind of hole in the machine that you can look out into the room even though you are laying face down. It wasn't all that bad, no pain or anything, did get to be a bit uncomfortable.
Anyway I am off to the store see yeah later - My grandson is picking me up.
-
boy, you ladies were chatty this weekend! it took me several tries (in-between keying orders to catch up). fortunately I made a few notes
or I wouldn't remember anything (no chemo here just bad memory).
Karen I hope the MRI went well today. and wanted to agree that Portia is a knock-out in that dress. My niece went to her Jr and Sr prom with a group of girl friends, one was her neighbor since 3rd or 4th grade and very close. They all had a wonderful time.
Cathi, conflicting reports warrants another opinion before anything else is done. Glad you conviniced your daughter of that. Also Love the picts of your grand-babies and Margo. I got a picture of Donald laying on the floor and Penelope giving him lovin.
I haven't even thought about a swimsuit this year, mine from a couple of years ago was a little snug on me last year.
Good news, I just got a call from Ruby and she has me scheduled for an evaluation on Wednesday morning. Since they aren't a doctor's office but a therapy center, the cost is part of my deductible until I hit the $400 then the insurance will pay 80%, but I do have the flexible spending account to cover my out of pocket expenses.
Debbie, I had to be the squeeky wheel to get this appointment for the evaluation at the LE clinic.
I know I am missing a bunch, but not because I mean to, I just don't remember who all is on this thread. Hugs to all.
I do need to get back to work. Hope all have a wonderful day.
Sheila

Thanks Shelia, hope your arm is feeling better,
Living on the beach I have had anywhere from 8+ suits at any given time, now I don't even have one, it is quite normal and acceptable to be in a suit this time of year right through September and go shopping, to a casual lunch/dinner , what ever, and when the humidity sets in it is quite comfortable as well, I will consider my self lucky if I can get one this year I am happy with.
