Sue! Great to see you here! Nothing is wrong with you - this forum must cause you very mixed feelings which is perfectly understandable. It's always good to see you post but it's great that you are getting on with your life, getting fit, having fun. xxx

Cathi - was it Wednesday that Jaclyn was seeing her doctor? Hoping and praying she got good news.

AE - hugs to UB. I'm thinking of you both and praying that he will continue to cope well with the chemo.

Lisa - hope you feel better soon. Colds always seem to attack in spring and fall. Have fun with your girlfriends!

    Hi to all the newbies!

    Love to all,

The love and caring stays no matter what. Take care of Sue. That's what we all want the most wherever you are..

That's all tonight. I can't believe how tired a person can be. Ready for a change!

Sue, I know how you feel. I watched my aunt go through her chemo and rads treatments when I was 17 (her family was living with us at the time while relocating to NC), I even drove her to some of her treatments and watched her 2 young boys (7 and 11). The doctors couldn't find the primary tumor but only treated the mets. I was so scared when my mom was dx in 2001 with BC and watched her go through the same treatments that her sister went through 24 years earlier and realized that the treatments had changed drastically and watched my mom make it through her treatments and thrive after her cancer. When I was dx in 2005 with pre-cancer in the left breast and again in 2006 with pre-cancer in the right, and for the third time dx with DCIS in the right in 2007, I knew that I could make it. I am not posting as much now as I did when I was first diagnosed but still want to be here for those who follow to let them know that they can make it through this trial.

UB, I am sorry that I have ignored you needing additional treatment. I am hoping and praying for the best.

Cathi, let us know about your daughter's tests.

I am sorry for the long post but needed to say that. I need to get back to work.

Hi all my dear, precious sisters, first, SUE BUG!!!!  Honey the whole start of this wonderful thread was to get you well and to the point of BEING SICK OF CANCER!!!  So come once in a while, but remember, life is for living, and you are have certainly paid the price for a time away from thinking about Bootface.

Cathi, that tiny dog is just adorable.  The cutest thing I have ever seen.  Sure is a great ToTo for our site.

My hip is better, but I made the idiotic mistake of telling the PT guy I had access to a pool!  So now I have to go to the pool every day and do excercises.  AND the treadmill, AND floor excercises.

My grandaughter is going to Milan for a semester in August, I hope all goes well, she is kinda shy.

Dear Towhee, Sheila, Jane, Mel, UB and AE, hang in there, dear friends.

Lisa, Karen, all the wonderful women on this site.  It is like seeing a reunion!  I love you all so much.  Walt is okay, he falls a lot, but he has diabetic neuropathy of his feet.  Fortunately, unlike me, he never breaks anything.

It sure is wonderful to see the newer gals, what a blessing we are to each other.

    I love you all  Shirlann

Shirlann, you are a gift! I'm getting pt (treadmill, stretching, exercises) and doing yoga. Do you think they are harassing us because of our age? Is there a discrimination suit here? Laughing Actually, hooray for both of us.

How wonderful for your granddaughter! Is she HS or college? Milan...how romantic. It will certainly give her motivation to overcome her shyness. My son Devin is doing a semester abroad in London next year. It's so hard to see them go off so far. It looks like he'll be in Vermont for the summer as an intern with a summer theater festival. sigh

Your story is inspiring, Sheila. You've been through a lot and your attitude is great.

Good vibes would be welcome for us tomorrow. We are having a family service to dedicate the niche and place my son's ashes and some photos in it. I don't want to be there, so need all the support I can find because I have to. Mothers have to do a lot of things they don't want to do.Smile Connor got sick this afternoon and is at the doctor's with his mom...I'm sure it's an ear infection. That's going to put a strain on tomorrow for sure.

Anxiously awaiting reports from AE, Cathi, Cheryl, Nets, Wren. And whomever else I have forgotten for the moment. Love and hugs, Judie

Shirlann - it's always great to see you there! It must be a pain to do all that exercise but it's sure to help ease your discomfort and you will ultimately feel better for it! That is exciting news about your granddaughter - Milan - how romantic and fabulous! She is sure to grow more confident as a result of this experience but, having said that, the world needs all types - we can't all be out-there, life-of-the-party types. I'm sure is is a delightful girl. Hugs to you and Walt - I'm glad he has strong bones.

Sheila, I can only imagine what you have been through with so much family experience with stinking bootface. It is something I never thought would happen to me - I didn't even entertain the thought! You've had a long, drawn-out journey with it and I think your story is inspiring.

Judie, I will be holding your hand tomorrow. It will be hard for you - I can only imagine how you feel but my love to you and your family for now, tomorrow and always.

I love to hear about all these clever young things learning in an international context - so exciting for Devin to be doing a semester in London! The people he will meet and the experiences - wow!

My thoughts and prayers are especially with Cheryl, UB & AE, Nets and anyone else who is enduring  treatment. Hope to hear from you soon. Wren, have you had your final finishing touches done yet? Hope you are very happy with the results. Cathi, any news on Jaclyn? My best wishes to you both and waiting and praying for a good result.

    Love to everyone,

    Jane xxxx

One thing I didn't mention in my experience with bootface was my uncle (dad's youngest brother) was dx with pancreatic cancer last April. He lives in Ohio and his first doctor gave him 4 months to live, he said I won't accept that dx and went to University of Ohio and has been in clinical trials with some experimental treatments and he will celebrate 1 yr since dx about the 20th of April. He has his good days and bad days. When we went to OH for my great aunt's funeral in Feb, we had hoped to see him on Saturday but he was having a bad day and the weather was rotten so we didn't get to see him. He is determined to beat this bootface.

    Hi guys

Been on the missing persons list - had that infection that just would not go away. On 2nd round of antibiotics (a penecillin based one this time) and my chemo had to be postponed, but just for a week.

Lovely to see Sue touching base and Shirann (another wise and wonderful woman) Mel and everyone. So nice to check in when you are feeling poorly, so cheering!

Getting a  present for my uber great sister today (her birthday on Monday!) and her son, my neff Gerard. and I are going to have a lovely Glasgow day. I want to buy her something kinda fabulous, she has been my rod and my staff over the past  3 months. Shopping, lunch - well for him, I still have little appetite.I will have a Guiness though and a warm Apple and Cinnimon Tart from O'Neills (the Irish pub chain) It's AWESOME. With hot custard! Yum, yum yum yum yum!  Guiness and a TART. Girls, I have suddenly rediscovered an appetite!

Finallly, a visit to the Royal Botanic Gardens where they have the biggest orchid display in Europe. Stunning (and, incidentally, free like all museums, art gallleries etc in Glasgow)

Good to feel well enough to WANT to go out. This week I have hardly got dressed!! I hate being ill, feeling feeble and sick. Cancer is one thing, feeling sick just makes me feel pathetic and this week I have been a snot machine!!!

I am so awash with antibioticsat teh moment that I am fine to walk among the "infected"!.

Next chemo on Wed, I wonder what wonders it'll bring - smelling farts and smelly feel even outdoors, losing the rest of my lashes and brows - have not lost my brows so far girls! - or it might be uneventful. Who knows? What I do know is that it is shrinking the bejabers out of bootface so bring it on I say. Great to know that you are all there and all survivors and all strong and all supportive. It helps beyond words!

Have a great weekend - Easter is just round the corner, Spring has sprung the days are long and sweet and life is good! I will be finished chemo by the end of April and post surgery by the end of May, so the horizon is not too distant!

    Godbless and tartan hugs!

Oh rats, I forgot to tell you all this story of my 2nd colonoscopy.  I don't want to scare anyone, but I am 73, and this IS the new medicine for oldsters, and probably is okay.

I went 3 years ago and had the colonoscopy.  I had 3 benign polyps and a thickening of the cecum.  He told me to come back in 3 years.   Soooo, I asked my primary, was okayed, and made the appointment.  I got there and was asked to pay the $20 co-pay, which I did.  I went in his office and he said (while studying my chart) "Oh, you only had one polyp, and it was not pre-cancerous, so we don't need to do another one for 2 more years and by then, at your age, maybe not at all".  Well, I was flabbergasted.  I sure didn't want the dang thing, HE is the one who told me to come back.  I Said, "You are the one who told me to come back".  He said, "Oh well, I probably didn't have the benign results back yet".  So I left.  Dumbfounded.  I HATE to be lied to by docs.  Oh well.

AE, get UB on here, he is loved and treasured just like we all are to each other!!!!!

Just had to tell this silly tale, and I didn't get my $20 back, either.

    Hugs, Shirlann

Hello everyone.  UB you are definitely welcomed to this site any day and any time.  I hope you get to feeling a little better.  Sorry about your having to repeat your chemo.

AE, you are such a wonderful person.

Shirlann, i know how frustrating it is to repeat visits to the doctor and they look at you like they aren't sure of anything.  A lot of time, depending on the physician, they aren't sure why they called you back.  I have learned why they do things the way they do.  I was used to seeing patients in the ER/Trauma Center and we weren't worried so much about the money but in the clinic world, you have to be concerned about money.  In the ER we let everyone else worry about the money portion and we worried about the patient.  I am now working for two physicians and running their Surgery Center.  They are so different from any other doctor I know.  They see people with and without insurance.  They don't care, their whole lives are surrounded by their patients.  They see up to 115 to 120 patients a day.  It's amazing.  They come to the surgery center and they pay what they can and a lot of times that's it.  The good Lord has really blessed them with their clinics and surgery center.  I'm fortunate to have them as a boss.

Sue, I'm sorry you are feeling a little low about being here on the site.  It's great to hear from you.

Cathi, how's your daughter?  Many prayers and hugs to you.

To everyone else hello, and big hugs.

    Leesa

Hello to all my sweet sisters and UB!

Uncle Bill , you better get your butt over here and talk to us. Don't make me come to Jersey! We all feel every ounce of everything you are going through right now. We soooo understand. And if we can be here for you , please come here. We light up like a circuit board when you come here!  You are AE's best friend and we love you just like AE. So if the moment strikes you , please come and share with us. xxxx

OK , Ladies , its been awhile , I am not even gonna try to remember all the posts. But one that sticks out in my mind , is to you Lisa.I miss you too girlfriend!!  About the effexor. I did the same thing. I didn't take it for two days , and WOW! I thought I was stroking out!!!!!! You really can't go off of that cold turkey. I remember walking up to the pharmacy counter , and thinking , I wonder if they will say , "man , you look really bad , are you OK"!? I really thought I was going down for the count. And as soon as I took one , about a hour later I was feeling better. And it is such an unexplainable feeling. But its really bad! Haven't forgotten one since!xxxx

Hi Debbie! So good to hear from you. I hope you are doing well. You are such a breath of fresh air to me. I hope all is well with you and your family. Thanks so much for all your prayers for everyone. You are such a thoughtful and wonderful person. You so deserve the name "footprint angel"

Hey Cathi , where are you sweetie? I know your daughter , Jaclyn was getting test results. You two have been in my prayers. Please let us know how things went. Hoping you are just busy with "life stuff" and you will come let us know soon. Hugs to Ed and sweet precious Margo.xxxx

Shirlann , I'm sorry you had such a "ding-a-ling for a doctor! Yeah , tell us what you THINK it will be , not the results! I'm just glad you are OK. Hope the hip is feeling better. I am having an awful time with my thumb. It hurts sooooo much. I can't stand the meds he gave me. It bounds me up so badly. Then I quit taking it so I can go to the bathroom. Then my thumb starts hurting like the dickens! And I can't wear the splint for some of the jobs I do at work. So  , I guess I will make an appt. and see if there is something else we can do. Thank you chemo , for aging me far beyond my years...

Hi Leesa! So good to see you here.So good to hear the surgery center is up and running. And it sounds like you have great bosses. I love to hear of docs who are passionate about what they are doing. And not just in it for the money. And I'm sure you are a Godsend to the patients. God Bless you all.xxxx

I hope Karen is having a blast right now in Vegas! She sure does deserve it! Although , I think she maybe home by now. Love you Karen , hope your trip was a good one.xxxx

Hi Nets! Sorry you have been feeling so bad , hope things are getting better for you. I just wanted to metion to you , that sometimes when you eat things you really enjoy while on chemo , they may make you sick. And you won't want them for a longggggggggg time after. I did that with tuna. I LOVE tuna. And for some reason , I think cause nothing was tasting good , I made some tuna salad. I got sick. And it has just been recently(had chemo in 2007) that I could enjoy it again. So be carfeul. Hope you all had a great lunch!xxxx

Hi Sheila , wow , you have been through alot with this evil bootface. You are such a strong woman. God Bless your Uncle , and God Bless you. I'm soooo glad to know you!xxxx

Hi Sue Smile! Honeygirl , let me tell you something. It will all even out for you. You simply must get on with your life. You have a hubby , two handsome boys , dad , sister ,nieces , friends and they are all sooooo lucky to have you in their lives!!!!!! We just miss you so. But at the same time , are so glad that you are getting on with your life.Just stop in once in awhile to let us know you are loving every ounce of life! And if you ever get to come to the U.S. . We will all try our hardest to see you.Good luck to you and all you do. Love you sweet Sue.xxxx

Judie , I am thinking , and praying for you right now. You are soooo right about mothers. But that is what we are , forever. I think it is a herendous atrosity that we should ever have to bury our children. Its not suppose to be that way. But it does happen. I don't know why. My believe is that for  whatever reason  , God needed them to be with Him. But I do know that this will happen to us all , someday , and someday , we will get to be with them again. I know you are hurting right now. Please feel my arms around you. I love you Judie.xxxx

All my sisters here. Know you are thought of , every single day. And I pray for us all. Peace be with each and everyone of you.xxxxx

Shirlann, I was actually on the operating table for surgery for a cricopharyngeal (sp?) mass (not good news) when the surgeon decided to check my MRI results. He was the one who had done a thyroidectomy on me so I trusted him. He called from the operating room right in front of me as I lay on the table. They told him it was arthritis spurs from my cervical spine area bulging into my throat!

He did nothing about the arthritis; I'd have to get it scraped and it's pretty involved as they have to go through the front and mess with all your vocal/eating thingies and I'm not there yet.

But the dumb thing is, he put me under anyway! I have no idea how long I was down but woke up and had a popsicle! Doi!

    Hi all,

Well I have not logged on in almost  a week, and I just can't even begin to catch up at this point, I am thinking of you all, and hugs and prayers for everyone.

Jaclyn had her procedure Wednesday, GYN had a hard time getting her cervix into position???? It is high and tipped???? Anyway after about 20 minutes she was able to get 4 cuts to be sent to pathology,  Saturday however she ended up in the ER as out of no where (I'll spare all the details) she started to pass so really unpleasant stuff, they said sometimes this is normal , but not usually so many days after.

We had company from Tuesday to Saturday AM,  one of Ed's very best buddies from PA, he has never been to Fla, what a sweet heart of a guy, Lisa I wish you were closer to him, I'de fix you up, he's so great, one grown son,  and has been single for years.

I had to go in to see Onco this past week also, BS strongly suggested it because of the back, rib and leg pains I have been having, anyway he has scheduled me for a bone scan, or he will when he has approval from insurance, I am not to worried at this point, I think I am just getting "older".

Margo is doing great - A PUPPY FOR SURE.

I love you all and I'll catch up on everyones post as soon as I can.

    XOXOXOXOXOXOXO

    A special prayer for UB!!!!!!

Mel - your inspiring and optimistic posts are worth waiting for. Thank you so much for all your words of love and wisdom.

Nets - lovely to hear from you too and so glad you are starting to feel a bit better after your nasty upper respiratory bug. I hope you have a few great days before you have to face chemo again. The shopping, apple tarts and Guinness all sound very therapeutic!

Barb, did you try to strangle that doctor after you woke up?!

AE, I would love UB to post here on a regular basis - he would be SO welcome! You are both precious to us.

Cathi - I'm praying that Jaclyn will get good results on her pathology. So sorry she ended up in the ER - that must have been so scary.

Lisa - so great to hear from you. You work so hard - I hope you have some time off soon to relax and use some of that paycheck on something nice...

Leesa - it must be so gratifying to work with such kind and caring doctors. We need more of them! On another slant, I think that a great doctor might be difficult to be married to or have as a parent - he/she would be all used up on sympathy and caring by the time the working day was over. Doctors kids always tell me they got little sympathy when they got sick as kids! A day off school when sick was hard to come by!

Karen! Great to see you back and that you had a good time. I agree though, there's no place like home!

    Love to everyone,

OOOH! What great posts today. Mel, Lisa, Barbe, AE, Cathi, Karen, Shirlann, Jane, Leesa, and more...

Shirlann, at least my colonoscopies went along with the schedule they told me to follow. I can't believe your experience. I would have been very grumpy.

But Barbe, your OR tale beats all! I'd have "pop"-ped that jerk right in the "sicle"! (groan)

Anyhoo, just a quick pop-in to bring you a grin. I'm too tired to push to many keys. I had Connor for three days.'nuff said. He is responding well to my potty-training talk about putting the poop in the toilet so no yukky diaper. He came into the bathroom at the...ahem...opportune moment, checked the bowl before I had a chance to flush, said, "Well done, grandma", pulled the handle and said "bye-bye" as it flushed. (And I blushed) At least one of us is getting trained. He cares nada about yukky diapers. I'm off duty until Wednesday night. That should give me just enough time to recuperate.

Love you dear sisters and brother!!!!

Wow!  What medical horror stories you have, Shirlann and Barbe!  I'll bet that sort of stuff happens more often than any of us can even imagine!

Judie, your "potty training" story had me in stitches!  I've tried to keep Chase out of the bathroom now since he was about four.  For the most part, he respects my privacy, but sometimes he takes a random key and manages to unlock the bathroom door.  He thinks he's so slick!  The new house will have better door locks!

    Love and hugs to all,

    Karen

I know it's  a haul to Philly, where he used to date a lady - and guess what he drove there almost every weekend, of coarse he drives all over the state and Maryland for work (construction foreman) so driving is not an issue for him.  I am not really worried about the bone scan (much -ha), I am not on any AI's, the onco is most concerned about the rib tenderness as it is my lower rib (right side) and per BS not at all related to the MX, so we shall see when I have insurance approval, I don't have the time nor energy to worry to much about me right now anyway.

Well just a quick pop by - LOVE TO ALL.

The warm felt soooooo good, Barbe!  It was rainy and snowy here in WA the whole time we were gone, but it's been nice ever since we've been back.  It's in the low 70's here today!

Hi Cathi!  Thanks for the compliment.  I can't stand the way I look these days.  I've been slightly underweight for the majority of my adulthood, so I'm just not used to this new "fluffy" me.  Darn this stupid bootface!!  I'm having a lot of dull, aching pain and burning in my hip, ribs, and the area below my ribcage that radiates to my back.  I know my onc (who I'm seeing on Friday) will send me for all sorts of scans and x-rays.  I'm scared to death, but haven't talked to any family or friends about it.  Thank God for all my sisters here.

    Love and hugs to all,

    Karen

Karen your  aches sound just like mine, 99% is on my right side, don't they always want to do "tests"  but I guess its a necessary evil.  You look beautiful, but I know its hard to always believe we are just that.  I had a bad day Sunday we were at the local "Beauty & The Beach" Festival here, crafters, food, music, contets, you name it it's here,  I just started feeling so awful about my chest, just started "wigging out" and blatting behind my sunglasses, everywhere I turned  - everywhere I looked "BOOBS" and "CLEVEAGE", skimpy cute tops and bathing suits -  I could not handle it, I cried all the way home.  Had a major PITY PARTY.

Still haven't quite got past it, its warm and cloths are getting smaller with the heat, guess I just gotta get over it-  STUPID -DUMB -ROTTEN BOOTFACE!!!!!!!!!!!
