Maybe there on vacation too. I feel like I am the only one who's not on vacation. Well, I guess you too!
Good Night!
-
G'night!!!
-
I'm afraid I'm on vacation, too, but not the fun kind. It's the brain and Energizer Bunny that are on vacation, leaving me adrift. Can't put a sentence together to save me.
Karen, Vive Las Vegas! How is Chase?
Linda, Good Night back atcha!
Lisa, as a nurse, I hope you understand that UV + autoimmune = flareup and greatly accelerated skin damage. Don't do it! I wear long sleeves and a floppy-brimmed hat all summer. But then I'm a Scandihoovian and we don't do well with sun.
Barbe, I've been doing a bunch of reverse sewing but can't seem to finish anything!
Cathi, heart is with you and daughter, am in love with Margo/Toto. Hug her for me.
AE, a jellytot is a sweet that Americans are deprived of. We need to start a protest. Thanks for the lovely photo reminder of our group.
Nancy...what's the latest with your dad? I always perk up seeing that you have posted.
Elaine, your week in a convertible is my idea of heaven. I'm researching some genealogy from that region, so I'll pretend I'm there in a cool convertible.
Netti, are you any better? I appreciate your feeding my worry addiction, but my tummy is full and ready to rest. Even a jellytot won't fit. Maybe a couple of Peeps would, though.
Jane, you are my Aussie tea tree remedy. Your presence is as warm and cozy as cup of chocolate sitting next to cheery fireplace on a rainy day.
That's all I can remember, but I love you all.
Son Devin is in Chicago studying improv under the pros. He's only 19! How can he go to Chicago without his mother?????
-
Towhee - you must be so proud of him!
Nancy - How is Dad?? My MIL went through that and it was not fun. Had to completely change her diet. Luckily she is only 63 so she was willing to do it. I hear lot's of older folks won't change. Hope your dad is doing well.
Cathi,
Is tomorrow the bg day? God, I hope so. Been thinking about you and your daughter a lot. Sending prayers and more hugs your way.
-
Towhe, BUT have you UN-finished anything? That counts!
Hugs [[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[ Cathi / dear daughter }}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} okay Margo, you too (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((( Margo )))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Hi everyone,
Fighting a fever since Sunday. Sunday had horrible chills along with it. Saw my onc Monday, donated my weekly tube of blood. But this fever just won't go away, just enough to make me fall asleep on and off all day long.
Las Vegas, must be the year for it. My own dd and her husband is heading that way this year for their anniversary. I know you will have fun!
Signed up for the "look good feel good" class at my hospital. They have it the second wednesday of each month so I'm in on for the 15th of April. One goes with no make up, bring your wig, scarves, etc. They take a before and after pic. And in between, they show you all sorts of tips and secrets to help get rid of chemo face, make it look like you have eye brows and lashes, etc, and show you how to fold those dang scarves into pretty head ware. Looking forawrd to it. Will be a fun morning.
Time to put on some coffee, sitting here with chills,
You are all in my prayers,
Cheryl

Hi Ladies, thanks for asking about my Dad. He came home Monday and is better, but he seems more confused than normal. Very agitated sometimes (well, I suppose being around my brother D doesn't help—he was actually yelling at my father last night trying to get info from him). His balance is worse and his speech is slowed...he uses simpler words instead of his usual vocabulary. I think he should have been evaluated for mini-strokes.
He's supposed to go down to FL to my sister's beach house after Easter, but I don't know if it's going to be possible. He definitely can't travel alone. My sister is arranging to come up here to travel down with him, but we haven't made plans for his return trip.
One of the problems may be all the meds he's supposed to take, and the fact that he decided he didn't need some of them and stopped taking them without telling his drs. My responsible brother T came over last night and created a chart of all his meds, when he supposed to take them, and a place to check off when they've been taken (the important part). I think Dad's still capable of keeping that up to date. Just a couple of weeks ago, he was organizing his files for his taxes and took them all off to his accountant. So when the meds are back in the proper regimen, perhaps he will bounce back.
I've seen old folks go downhill very quickly. My friend is going through this with her father, too, just now, but to the point that her father is being placed in a nursing home. Now, he was diagnosed as having had mini-strokes so that is what gave me that idea about my dad. But I haven't been able to speak to any of his drs...brother D was blocking the way, so I've backed off and will have a convo with my brother T, and perhaps my sister B when she comes up.
My commute is a pain--I'm gone almost 12 hours a day--so letting my other siblings deal with the drs was the only practical thing to do. I'm just annoyed that D is now acting like I have abandoned our father. When I tried to talk to Dad last night about his meds, D interrupted and took over with a loud interrogative voice, and Dad just sat there and glared at him. I spoke a little slower, and asked questions that were leading, not hostile, and got a better response from Dad, but D took over and bullied me away and actually said to me that since I walked away from the situation that I should just stay out of it all. WTF? I had said I would take a personal day on Monday to bring Dad home, but he insisted it wasn't necessary as he didn't have to be anywhere until the afternoon. I visited Dad in the hospital (He was only in three nights). I don't think that sounds like I walked away from the situation. So D is almost as big a problem as my father.
We're thinking it's time to get a home aide for Dad. So, that will be under discussion soon with all the siblings.
Well, thanks for letting me vent.
-
Nancy- please vent away. Helps to get it out so it doesn't blow out at the wrong person! Hope things get better. My FIL is having problems keeping meds straight etc. Very stubborn type, but really having problems. Unfortunatly we are all in NJ and he is in Florida, we are trying to have someone from family go down every 5-6 months to straighten everything out again, and try to manage in between by phone (he doesn't hear well on the phone so its a challenage). Have been able to take over ordering meds thru VA so at least he has what he needs and hopefully the chart and containers we set up last time help. I am glad that dh and his sister get on ok and sort of on the same page, but only on FIL will listen to is dh. I feel so bad for him, he worries about me, his dad, all the day-to-day stuff here, business ( whch is not doing well but will come around) and having 2 in college next yr (thankfully we only have one year with both in).
Oh goodness, Nancy I didn't mean to go on about me, guess I needed to get it out as well. Hope things get better and you are taking care of yourself thru out all this!
Hope you get a bit of time in the sun today- they are saying in low 50s in NYC area!

Hi Cheryl.
I, too, have been fighting a fever 37.1 - 38 since Sunday. I have to take my temp hourly. Last one was 37.2. Have taken a MAXI STRENGHT lemsip! I am at hosp tomorrow for my guider marker scan (don't know if I will see the surgeon, I do hope so!!! ) If my temp is still so evelvated, I have to go straight to Casulty for antibiotics.
It's lousy feeliing lousy on top of chemo!!
Will check in to let you guys know the (hopefully) good news about the tumour shrinkage.Get well soon Cheryl. I, too will get the look good thingie, soon as I am assured that I won't spray they with .... wee, not fake tan!!! Oh temp is 36.5!!!!!! Yippee, sneezing like a machine and my nose is - well I could understudy for Rudolph!!!
Take care
Love you peeps
Nettie

How exciting for Devin, Judie! Portia would be so jealous if I told her. She LOVES improv! He must be really good for them to invite him to come study in Chicago. I can imagine how worrisome it must be for you though. Chase is much better. Thanks for asking!!
Cheryl, you poor thing! I hope that fever breaks soon. You'll have fun at the Look Good, Feel Better class. I took my SIL and daughter with me (my daughter was the scarf model). We had a blast!
Hang in there, Nancy and Elaine. I know how hard it is when the parents are elderly and their health starts declining. You both have your own frustrations. Your brother (D) needs to stop being such a controlling bully, Nancy! What makes him think that yelling at your poor dad is helping the situation?? Grrrr! Elaine, it must be so hard having your FIL so far away. Hugs to both of you!
Get better soon, Nettie! Understudy for Rudolph! You crack me up! That sense of humor is always there--even when your feeling like garbage!
Love and hugs to all,
Karen
-
(((((((Cheryl))))))) & (((((((Nettie))))))), so sorry to hear that you are both sick with fevers. Hope you start to feel better very soon.
Nancy, that is just dreadful of your brother to behave like that. I hope he has calmed down and apologised. My brother has yelled at my sister because he thinks he could have handled things sooo much better re my mother and it has caused my sister so much added stress.
Elaine, vent as much as you like. We live in such a different world now. Once, families members tended to live relatively close to their aging parents and were able to share the load. Now, we tend to scatter around the country and when our parents need extra care, it's not easy to be there to give it. And now, all the business/financial worries caused by this recession make things so much worse.
Judie - what is "improve"? Whatever it is, I'm glad Devin is doing it - sounds impressive! Tea tree remedy - mmm - probably should have some of that. I coughed all night again.
Cathi - prayers and hugs for and to you and your daugher.
Karen - do they exfoliate and moisturise your dry bits (like elbows) before they apply the fake tan? I'm sure you will look fantastic when it's all done.
Love to everyone,
Jane xxx

Thanks ladies, I worry about FIL, wish we could get him to come back up here but I think it would kill him, literally. He really can't manage the cold anymore, but he really can't be on his own anymore. He's a hip fracture waiting to happen. I miss having him nearby, being able to stop by just to visit. I have been so luck that my parents are just across town and we have a great relationship with them (to them my dh is just like having another kid around!). When my Dad died last year I was really glad to be so close to Mom (sister & BIL are in Virginia and brother and SIL are in Vermont) everyone tries to visit as often as they can but there are limits.
Hope everyone is well, sweet dreams

Family conflicts are the worst!!! My very close family has crumbled at times and there have been hurtful issues since my son died. For us it's a process associated with grief. Nancy, your situation sounds much different. It's so hard to focus on what is important while dodging arrows. I'm so sorry. I hope you are able to prevail.
Why yes, Barbe, nearly everything is undone!!! I'm regressing soundly.
Jane, improv is short for improvisation. Theater Sports has become very popular the past few years in the states. Teams actually compete...kind of like the "Who's Line Is It Anyway" show. Did you get that in Oz? Devin is on his college team, though the school chose not to compete, but to put on shows to entertain the students. It's great fun. He's in Chicago with the team studying under some famous people. One of the members of the original "SCTV" (Second City TV) show is the main leader. He left SCTV when it moved from improv to a skit formula like Saturday Night Live and started his own theater in Chicago called "Improv Olympics" but because of the "real" Olympics they just call it IO.

Hi All -
Quick fly by for me - just an update on UB. Looks like he will start chemo again next week. We are waiting to get the approval from the insurance company on the new drug they want to use.
I'll keep you posted.
Love ya's,
AE

Hi guys
The quickest of updates. For once, good news. I went for my titanium tatoo.
The tumour has shrunk from 4x4cm to 16mm. The marker is bigger than the tumour. They got another doc in to check, my lying on my back, them talking to me looking up my scabby(really sore) red nose. They also took another mamo to compare. Better still, the surrounding tissue looks like health breast tissue. My sis, who is a nurse ( who was at one point going to specialise in oncology, but the contract then was that you couldn't start a family with 2 years because of the training and required committement) Anyway, in when I asked for her to called in, she nearly passed out, but it was just to see the comparison.
I am still sick with this bloody upper resp infection, seeing asthma nurse tomorrow, but am giddy with relief!!!!!!
My beloved sisters,
Goodnight and sleep well

Great news Nettie!

Nancy, I'm sorry to hear about your situation at home. Sometimes men take their frustrations out on their sisters and their wives when they feel like they have no control or are loosing control. I hope your dad is doing better as well as yourself. You can vent here any time you want to.
Cathi, I was wondering how you and your daughter are doing. I hope you are doing ok.
Nettie, Congrats on the tumor markers. Bless your sister. Sorry about your Upper Respiratory Infection.
Karen, how are you doing and how is Chase.
AE, I hope and pray the chemo will make UB feel better. I'm so sorry he's miserable and not feeling well but you are the best. I would let you take care of me any time. Just don't forget to take time for yourself. You have to stay healthy.
Judi, Hope the brain is working better. Hope you're feeling better. How are you doing? You just hang in there and keep the sewing going. You are truly an awesome person.
Lisa, how are you? How was the date?
Well, I'm tired. I hope all are doing well. Hugs to everyone.

I bought the pill containers at the drug store that have pockets for each day of the week.
Since one of my medications is 3 times daily, I have 3 of them.
Yellow for morning, pink for afternoon and blue for night-time.
I have had problems with drugs before and my hubby could show that I had taken the right amounts for the right time period. He also knows all my drugs, what they are for and can advocate for me should there be any questions.
Doing it this way also means that I only carry the pink tray with me if I go out.
And I dont have to remember to checkmark a chart.
Hope this helps.

Yuck! Poor UB! Chemo sucks--but I hope it does the trick and kicks some serious bootface BUTT!!
Good news, Nettie!!!!! I'm so happy for you!
Chase is so much better! Thanks for asking, Leesa. You are a sweetheart!
Where is Lisa? Sue?? Mel? Shirlann? Fumi? Wren? People are dropping like flies! Come BAAACK! You guys are my sanity in an insane world!
Love to all,
Karen
-
Cathi?? Any news about Jaclyn?? Love, hugs, and prayers to you both!
-
AE - I sure hope the chemo does the trick for UB. I will keep you both in my prayers.
Dream - I love using the pill container. Everyone who see's it laughs like crazy and tells me I'm old now! Oh well, rather that than the alternative.
Karen - I miss the others too. I think it's a good sign that hopefully they have found other things to concerntrate on. Cancer is a horrible thing to have as your focus. I too value each and every person here and they defintiely help keep me sane!! I'm sure they will be back!
-
Nettie - that is such great news! It's so good to know the chemo is working.
Cathi - how is Jaclyn? I'm thinking of both of you and praying the news was good.
AE & UB - you are both in my thoughts and prayers.
Judie - I googled improv. How interesting and creative it sounds! What a clever son to be involved in it!
Love to all I mentioned and all I didn't.
Tired, taking a cold/flu tablet and going to bed.

Sorry I have been MIA, we are finishing up the label printing project today, with a few exceptions next week. I have spent my time, after entering the orders every morning, going back and forth between 3 printers in different rooms on the 1st floor, picking up printed labels, loading rolls of labels, and loading spools of ribbon. I think I must have walked at least a mile a day inside the office.
AE & UB I am keeping both of you in my prayers.
Cathi, how is your daugher?
Nettie, Great news that the tumor shrunk so drastically.
I am busy working on a hand sewn and quilted wall hanging made out of vintage handkerchiefs for my grandmother's 95th birthday. I should have used a hoop when quilting it, it has a lot of bubbles but that gives it character. I don't have the time to reverse quilt it and start over with the hoop to keep everything flat. I am to the stage of sewing lace around the outside edge and heming the back to the front. When I get it done I will get a picture of it with her and try to get the photo posted.
About Toto, when Sue first started this thread, I had a picture of my basset hound as my avitar and she was our Toto, but I will let Margo take the spot.
I do need to get back to work.
Sheila

Just came to send {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}]].
Love you all.
Cathi - whats up with DD?
-
I am here...just been really busy, working, trying to keep up with the housework...etc...sorry for the MIA.
Just read through all of the posts...I will never remember everything. I can't see margo...here at work..will have to look at home. Our TOTO. I remember Sheila..when Penelope was toto. Cathi..how is your daughter?
Val...darn it!! More chemo for our UB!! I am so sorry!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR ((((( ub ae)))))))
Where is our Mel?? I miss you Love!!
Karen, glad to hear that Chase is better. I have never tried spray tan, but Olivia has...looked great. Have fun in Vegas. I have been there once..just for the day. I was not that thrilled with it..but I think I need to give it another chance..and this time take in the scenery..and a show.
Judie....good for Devin!! That's such a great experience for him! He will have to run into Danni...and say hi!!! She just celebrated her 25th b'day on Monday!!! I mailed her a check, and then a painting that a girl here at work did. She just started doing them as a hobby..and I loved what she did. They are kinda quirky..but really cool. she did one of 3 girls ...a blonde and 2 brunettes'...guess who they are? lol I think Danni will like it. I know how you feel about your baby moving away. Olivia will be leaving me this summer...sometime in July!! She is moving to Florida! Cathi...can you watch out for her for me?? She will be living and going to school in Orlando. At least I have another fun place to visit!
Speaking of Chicago...in July I am going for a few days. There is a Elton John (my absolute fav!) and Billy Joel concert at Wright stadium. Well...Danni knows how I love EJ..and told me about it..but the tickets were well over 200.00 a piece. So I didn't get one. Well...her new b/f...for her b'day got her 4 TICKETS!!! Do you believe it?? not 2, but 4!!! He said one is for me!! She said well..why 4? He said, I thought you may want to take your sisters too! Isn't that sweet? She said...ummmm...I want you to go!! So, it will be, me, Danni, Adam and Danni's friend from g/s Laurie. I can't wait! I told Danni...he is very generous!! I can now die a happy woman after this concert! lol
I have had a few different dates..but nothing materialized. Oh well...when and if it happens, it happens. Having fun meeting people..and going out with my one single g/f.
Nettie...great news on the shrinkage of BOOTFACE!! Wohoo...you are on your way to OZ missy!
I hope you and Cheryl are feeling better.
Nancy...your story about your dad and your jerky brother, made me mad. How could he say that about you abandoning your father!! EWWWWWWW that made me really mad!! Stay cool...be there for your dad, as I know you will...and ignore the jerk!! ((((((((((( Nancy)))))))))))))...I know siblings can be cruel sometimes.
Where is our beloved Sue??? Haven't seen her on here in forever!!! Oh........Sue...where are you??
Ok..back to work!!
Love to all of you wonderful ladies here. Don't worry...you haven't gotten rid of me yet! lol
I still owe you some updated pictures too...I told Liv..snap away...lol
xoxo

Sheila! I knew there was another very important person who's been missing! Sounds like your plate is very full. Thanks for finding a minute to pop in! There's room for two Toto's, don't you think? I just love "basket" hounds (as my son calls them). Penelope is such a sweetie!
Hi Lisa!! How great of Danni's boyfriend to buy those concert tickets. EJ and Billy Joel are coming to Seattle as well. That would be a fun show! I've seen Billy Joel (years ago), but I'd really love to see EJ too.
Love and hugs to everyone,
Karen
-
Me too Karen! I saw BJ years ago...but Elton...I have been crazy about him since 8th grade!! He spent 1600.00 for those tickets!! Wow...I guess it is LOVE!!!
We can have little "crooked" Oliver as our 3rd toto! lol
back to work!
xoxo
Lisa
-
Lisa, you definitely have to go back to Vegas and see a show! We saw the Blue Man Group last time and plan to see them again with the kids. They are SO funny! I just about peed my pants! I just love walking through all the casinos. There's such an exciting energy! LOVE IT!!
-
yeah..maybe. Just not on the top priority of my vacation list. I thought the hotels I did see..were beautiful. But I saw allot of sleeze too! haha. The smoking, drinking and gambling were not my thing. That's why I would rather do the show aspect!
