Forgot to mention earlier...I saw my PS this morning. I'm done! All is healed, I can go braless, and I've lost the Tweedle-Dee look. Now I'm just an overweight lady with smallish boobs...a step up for sure. I think it was worth it. That's always easy to say when you're not in pain.

Just got back from a German Secessionist exhibit at the art gallery. I had never heard of it...very, very interesting paintings. I got too tired to see it all, so will go again soon. It's just two blocks away. Also had lunch at the little cafe in the gallery with my ex. It was actually quite enjoyable.

Cathi, you are in the Emerald City, you are the lion who has found her courage, and it is the first day of the rest of your life. Really.

    Hi all

Karen- the manhattan was fabulous (made from secret recipe of my Dad) and the toast to your good news was excellant if I do say so myself!

Judi- Yipey for PS visit/news! One less thing to do :D. We had a house full of animals (7 cats and 1 dog).  The dog was a mistake (I was the only one to care for the FAMILY pet)   Became VERY stressful so after 9 years, I finally decided this was not fair to her or me.  Was able to find the perfect home for her- retired couple who had had a bichon and were looking to replace, she is being spoiled and is the very center of their world. I feel so much better knowing she is well cared for, much less stress for me. Over the past few yrs, as we have had to put cats down, we did not replace and found out last yr that dd is highly allergic to cats and dogs. Quickly found new homes for remaining 2 cats. I would love another cat- just one for my company. Next yr dd goes off the college, ds will be in his last yr of college- down in Savannah so for at least 1 yr it will be just dh and I (and hopefully a cat). DD wants to do physical therapy and is looking at about 11 schools- has been accepted to 7 so far and we are waiting to hear from final 4.  She has no favorite or first choice so far. To be honest, I am kind of looking forward to an empty nest, some rest time for dh and I, some travel time and us time. The children are wonderful, amazing children, but its been fun watching them grow up and explore the world. I think I live vicariously thru them:D.

Debbie- hopefully a quiet day, maybe a nap or two and you will be feeling better!

So sorry for all the stinky news,  yipey for all the good news. Sweet dreams ladies.

Debbie, hope you feel better after resting tomorrow.

Judie - yippeee! You can go braless! You're all finished with the ps. That is so great! I absolutely hate wearing bras. Before my mx, I did go without them - often - especially in the summer but now - too lopsided! You had implants didn't you?

EWB - I think it's a great idea to get a cat. Hope you find one soon. They are such great company. My little Blossom is my furry angel. I have never had such a loving, devoted cat - she just radiates love and follows me everywhere.

Sleep well everyone - hope you all have a great day tomorrow.

Geez, what is it about one person being appointed sole caretaker for the supposed FAMILY pets?  I'm in the same boat, Elaine.  And the others wonder why all three dogs love me best!

Just popping in quick, since I am only working half days, I have to make sure that I get my work done before much internet.

About dogs, my husband is the one who wanted a basset hound or a saint bernard. I told him I didn't want a dog bigger than me or ate more than me. then we found Penelope. Even when he was home, I was the main caretaker of 'his' dog. Now he is a long haul driver, I get all the care. John does help some now since he is home, he works 3rd shift and on nights when he isn't working he stays up in his room. Yesterday morning at 5:30 I wake up to see the bathroom light on and hear Penelope's nails on the kitchen floor, I gate her in the living room overnight. John had come out to the kitchen to get a drink and Penelope was adamant that he take her out. He figured that since I usually take her out when I get up at 6:00 he would go ahead and take her out and feed her.

Lisa, the fact that he didn't call to find out how your biopsy went, says a lot.  Despite your telling him not to contact you again, I would have thought he'd at the very least text you to find out how you were.  He certainly didn't turn out to be the type of guy we thought he was.  Disappointing, but there are more fish in the sea.  Hold out for someone special enough to deserve you!  He'll probably come along when you least expect it.

    Hi everyone,

Karen and Sheila, I am always the one to take care of pets too. I have always been the "pet getter", so it just seems that I'm the one who always scrubs out their food & drink bowls, keeps their food & water fresh, takes them for walks (dogs, although I had a cat once who used to love to come for walks when we lived on a farm) etc but I reap the benefits of getting the most love back from them!

Debbie, what type of dog do you have? Any chance of you posting some pics? We always love to see photos of fur babies here.

Judie, the area in which you live sounds so culturally rich and exciting. I love that you you have art galleries within walking distance.

I started an 8 week art course yesterday. It was so enjoyable! There are about 10 in the class - and one sweet dog, who slept under a table for two hours. The others in the class seem so nice, the teacher is an accomplished artist and I feel so inspired already. I came home and drew pictures for the rest of the afternoon. For homework, he wants us to draw without looking at the page, to free the creative parts of our brains and, although it's a bit daunting to begin with, I am loving it.

Sue, I hope your nasty flu is getting better. Late winter is the worst time for these horrible bugs. I sometimes think I have escaped them but then, right at the end of winter, or Spring, wham - I go down.

Lisa, I wonder if you could scan a pic of the scrapbook you are doing? Would love to see your handiwork.

It has rained here for days - such a welcome relief from the extreme heat of a week ago. People are walking around with their faces up to the rain, smiling! I hope it drenches the fire zone down south and puts out every last ember.

Tomorrow I am flying to Brisbane for a few days to stay with my sweet sister & to spend some time with my dear little mother. She is frail and very old and we don't know how long she has left. I love to sit next to her and stroke her soft white hair and hold her beautiful hands. She hates her hands - they are sinewy, with prominent veins and tendons but I have always thought they were beautiful. If she will let me, I am going to try to draw them. They say so much about her life of hard work and experience.

Love to all my sweet sisters and UB,

    Jane xxx

KAREN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just knew you were OK. So , so happy for you. OK heres your happy dance...

Toasting to you and your good news. I love the pic of -oops , forgot his name! He is sooo cute. Glad to hear Tinker is still with you. And has an appetite. There sure is something to be said for that. I'm sure all the love you give Tinker heals him. You're such a good mommy to your furbabies. And yes , I think its like that in alot of the households. "Mom" is the one that usually takes care of them. But how could we not? They are our babies too. But a little help sometimes would be nice... Hows Portia doing? Has she talked to her dad lately? I hope she is feeling better about things. Hope you all are having a warm , and peaceful weekend.xxxx Mel

Helllooooooo!!!!  My laptop's at Staples getting "tuned up", so I have to use Portia's desktop for a quick post.

Debbie, take care, honey!  I hope you're feeling a little better today.  You are such a dear, sweet person.

Hi Jane!  That art class sounds like so much fun!  There was a time (a loooooong time ago) when I considered art as a career.  I love it, but I'm not very good.  Please post some of your drawings one day.  I'd LOVE to see them!

Thanks for Mr. Koala and his happy dance, Mel!  Portia still hasn't spoken to her dad,  She was over at her Auntie's house last weekend (his sister's) and he called there, but refused to talk to her.  GROW UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I just really want to tell him that!

I'll be back on Monday, when I have my laptop back.  Have a great weekend, everyone!  Love you!!!

    Hugs,

    Karen

Karen, I am sorry about POrtia and her dad.  He is a low life scum.  She doesn't deserve that and you shouldn't have to b=pick up the pieces.  I know you are hurting for her but this will open her eyes to see what kind of man she would like to be with when she gets older and what type of man to stay away from.  I'm glad she has you for her mom because you can and will give her all the love and support she needs.  She will learn from you how to be strong and independent and learn that she doesn't need a man in her life to "be a woman."

Judy, I'm so glad to see you back and going strong.  I don't like it when someone leaves because I seem to feel a little lost.

Lisa, I;m sorry to hear about you and Dennis.  You are a special person and definitelyy do not deserve to be treated that way.  You are very special and Dennis just doesn't know what he had.  Hey Lisa,  I wouldl ike to know how you come up with your ideas for your scrapebook.  I have lots of pictures surrounding special events but I'm not very creative or artistic.

    Nanaoften - how are you?

UB and Sue, are you guys ok.  Hey Sue have you thought of when you might come to Florida?  I have to have surgery the end of April or the first of May but I am excited about you coming.

Hello Ms. Cathi, the furbaby's new picture are beauttiful.

    Good night everyone,

    Leesa

Mel, I don't know where you come up with the little inserts that you put in your posts but they are really cute.

My little Peaches, (Lasa Opsa) is the greatest.  I never wanted another animal in the house and as I said before we inherited her from our daughter, I forgot how much joy and laughter a little furbaby can bring.  I laugh so much and so hard at her that I am almost pathetic.  My husband laughs at me because of me laughing at her.  She throws hew chew toy around the room and entertains herself just like a kitten does.  She really loves the grandchildren but she likes to jump on them and give them kisses.  I'm not much for the licking in the face.

Deb, I hope you are feeling better.

Good Morning Ladies and UB, I thought I would bring us all some breakfast...

Well , I am gonna try to post again. Last night I had a very long post , just about done and this computer crashed! Oh did I cuss a blue streak!

Cathi , your Margo and her siblings are adorable. I want her sister! How cute they are. Do you have a date set yet when you can bring her home? Its nice to be "expecting". It gives you time to go out and shop! When I got Sweetpea , being she was a girl , I got alot of pink things, Bed had pink bows , pink mouse ,  little kitty beanie baby to sleep with so she wouldn't miss her siblings , and they even sell "baby blankets"! So of course I bought her a pink one. She was 1.04lbs when I got to bring her home. I have to post that pic again...

Furbabies are so precious. Good luck to you and Ed when you finally here the clicky(nails),pitter patter of paws!xxxx

Hi Sheila , are you working half days because of the economic state we are in? We have Monday off because things are so slow. I hope things pick up for all of us. As much as I hate getting up and out to work some mornings , I would hate to loose my job.Good luck to you and yours.

How nice John is helping with Penelope. Giving mom a break. You need to post some pics of Penelope if you can. I know at work its probably a no-no. But I would love to see her again. Have a good weekend Sheila. xxxx

Hi Lisa! Boy , hasn't our weather been crazy!? There are still power outages in the area from the wind storm we had.

Sorry you haven't heard from Dennis. I would feel hurt that he didn't call to see how your biopsy was. But you know at my age , I would take that as a sign of the man he is. And then I would move on. You know spring is just around the corner. Think of the first warm day we can open our windows and let the fresh , new air in! Think of the first daffodills and crocuses pushing up and reaching for the sun! Think of the little peepers singing there beautiful song to spring! I just love peepers , music to my ears...

And a run on a warm , spring morning , oh you are gonna feel so much better. Hang in there girlfriend. And if you here from anyone of match.com , respond! You know sometimes you have to kiss alot of frogs , granted most are toads , but hey , you know there is someone out there just waiting to meet you.

Yes , Lisa please post some pics of the scrapbook. It sounds awesome. Olivia is gonna love it.

You such a thoughtful mom. Have a great weekend.xxxx

Hi Jane! Your art class sounds awesome! And the doggie under the table. Sounds like my kinda classroom. I wish we were taking that class together. I can't wait to see some of your creations. Hope the creative juices are flowing for you , express yourself!

    Maybe Blossom can help!lol

Oh I know what you mean Jane , about your mothers hands. I always thought my mom had beautiful hands. And when I was a young girl , my mom would always put on Jergens hand cream every night. And I loved the smell of it. So soothing and a warm memory to go back to. Well , I was in the store and guess what I found?! Jergens original scent! Of course I bought it. A wonderful aroma of cherries and almonds. Now I put it on every night and think of my moms' beautiful hands. I think when I go see her next time , I will take her a bottle , make her put it on and tuck me in bed!lololol

I think your mom would love for you to draw her. Please post your drawings here Jane. I love to look at art.  Have a great time with your sister and mom.xxxx

Mel  -I love your posts and pictures. Today has been a most wonderful day, Ed and I don't do the Flower/Candy thing for Valentines Day (I just am to "thrifty" (AKA CHEAP) to spend that kind of money on candy and flowers I can get the day before or the day after for half the price) - , but one of the great things about being married to a car dealer is he brings home some really cool cars sometimes, he brought home this real cool Caddy Convertible for today (shinny white and beautiful) we went for breakfast and drove the coast line, I was feeling pretty cool, hot, fancy & rich with my knock-off Roberto Cabali (SP) sun glasses, the sun and temp is just wonderful today. Life is so very -very good sometimes.

OMG you guys are hitting memory lane here.

When I was 9, I took a dancing class that was tap/hula. Weird combo. For the hula part, we started by sitting in a circle on the floor applying JERGEN"S lotion!!! The teacher taught us that hula was mainly in the hands and lotions warmed them up and made us aware of them so they would be more expressive. I LOVE that scent!

Cathi, my dad was a car dealer and did the same thing with bringing special ones home. After the above-mentioned dance class on my 9th birthday, daddy arrived in a white convertible with gold leather upholstery. All the girls piled in and we drove home to a surprise birthday party. There were at least ten of us and we sat up on the back of the back seat and crowded in the other seats. You see, back then we didn't get thrown off or hurt in accidents so didn't have seat belts and laws and stuff. Cool My dad brought home one of the first Thunderbirds...when it was a sports car competing with the Corvette. It was red with two seats and went fast. We got up to 110 before daddy slowed down.

    Fun memories! Thanks girls!

Jane, I share your fascination with hands. I took photographs of my parent's hands for their 50th wedding anniversary. My mom thought I was nuts until she saw them. They became a real treasure. I also did some hand sketches. SO hard to do, but some of my favorites. You will treasure those drawings and the time with your dear mother as you do them. I'm excited for you. The class sounds wonderful.
