What happened last night. I left work at 5:00 pm and came in at 8:00 am to 2 pages to read. I am going to make notes so I don't miss anything today.
Sue - My hubby also said I am directionally challenged, but when he started driving I kept an atlas close by (maps of each state) to help him with his directions at times when he wasn't sure how far he needed to go before changing highways. Don't worry about getting fleeced in Manchester, one of the other drivers was having trouble in Chicago finding the location and asked a guy to direct him. That guy charged him $100 to direct him to the place. I can see the new movie 'Follow the yellowbrick road' featuring dear Sue as Dorothy and all the wonderful Pink Rose women.
Karen, what is it with suspicious mammos this year. First it is Lisa now it is you. Still chanting b9 b9 b9 b9
Cathi, your rants are getting almost as good as dear Sue's rants. It does good to rant and then laugh at this terrible disease.

Notes from page 326
Mel- glad to see you post. your rants are pretty good as well
AE - love your rant also
Karen, before my dx of DCIS I had 2 suspicious mammos resulting in biopsies - both b-9 (pre-cancerious) but a roller coaster ride of emotions that my mom helped me through. My dr suggested after the 2nd one that I might want to consider bilat as a prevention. Before I had the chance to tell him I wanted the bilat I was dx with DCIS. Don't second guess your original decision of treatment. You did what you and your doctor felt best for you.
Judi. Glad it is normal pain not infection. They should have warned you that this surgery was more painful. Since I had recon at the same time I had no idea what the pain level should be with just one procedure over the other.
this crazy weather. We got just a dusting of snow here but the higher elevations got 6-10 inches with temps in the single digits. Donald calls me when he is in the Northeast telling me how much he hates the snow. I thought his load delivered today in Monroe township NJ but it doesn't deliver until tomorrow. He could't drive that many miles in one day. He stopped last night in Abbington Virgina and the temp there was 13 degrees.
Nets, glad you found this wonderful group of ladies. We laugh and rejoice over the craziest things and worry over the least little possible setback. If you have the 'bad' cancer I guess I had the 'good' cancer. Mine was contained in the duct and since I did bilat mast I didn't need any additional treatment. I too felt like I wanted this alien thing out of me, I called it my 'ticking time boobs'. But my mom had ILC in 2001, single mast, chemo and rads, so she did the scarf/wig/hat thing after her dx.

Nets...welcome...and I think even with Triple negative..you are going to beat this!! You have such a great attitude and fighting spirit..hey you are a Scott!! I have a good friend here at work..she is from Scottland..and man that woman can fight...haha! It looks like you have all of your ducks in a row as they say. It's good you have family in the medical field and it sounds like you have a good support team around you. That is important and very helpful. I cut my hair before I lost it...it was so much easier to see it fall out. Once it started coming out quickly...I had my girlfriend shave my head! That was easy...it actually felt liberating! I did lose my eyelashes and eyebrows. That came a little later though. I had 8 treatments. A/C and Taxotere. Make sure after your chemo treatment you drink LOTS OF FLUIDS! You need to flush your body..this will help. Also, sometimes they say NOT to eat or drink any of your favorites at this time..because later you won't like them. I didn't really have this problem..but allot of women do. I can't remember what else you asked. Just remember take this one day at a time. Don't concern yourself with "what if's" down the road. We will be here for you every step of the way.
It's a cold -6 degrees here in Ohio...brrrrrrrrrr...so I am glad I work inside!
Long day for me...I'll check back in with you guys later.
xoxo to all of you!

Welcome Nets
Shelia I don't hold a candle to Sue's rants -she is the champion of all rants but thanks for the compliment - I have been told from time to time I have a TRUCKER MOUTH (no Pun intended).
Judie, so glad there is no infection, but the pain I am sure sucks. Judie there is something about you, everytime I read your posts or see your picture that makes me feel my mom around me, there is a definite connection and it is wonderful for me.
Anyway hope everyone is warmer today, Shelia we missed frost here on the beach, but the strawberries and citrus up North are taking a hit, and they will again tonite -this is to cold for Florida, hurry up Saturday and 75 degrees. Our State fair in Tampa starts today, and Gasperilla (a smaller version of Mardi Gras) is Saturday - The Pirates invade Tampa, with a huge boat/land parade. We aren't going this year, it really is fun, but I just want to avoid all that traffic, and wide spread germs everywhere for awhile.
-
Nets,
We haven't formally met. Welcome to our little group. You will find tons of support here, so come as often as you like.
My dx was different so I can't help too much with that. But it certainly looks like you have all your ducks in a row and are ready to slay your rotten Bootface.
Good Luck on your journey and don't forget - just follow the yellow brick road - you'll get to Oz soon enough.
Hugs,
AE
-
Cathi, no offence taken on the trucker mouth, remember I live with a trucker and a sailor
. I too can't wait until the warm up on Saturday, they are calling for upper 50's to 60 on Saturday.
It was 16 degrees when I got up this morning and even though I work inside, I am the receptionist and everytime the front door opens, I get the blast of cold air on my face. We don't have the 'energy efficient' double door system to block most of the cold air. I do however have a glass sliding window I can close to keep most of the cold out of my office area.
-
Cathi ...
Please can you explain your seasons again... are you in the summer or winter... 75 degrees ...frost...
Well my day off is nearly over and all I have done is shop @ Asda and do the chores.
I made a hot chilli and blown ma head off with the amount of chillis I threw in it...I do it everytime ...and the boys have gone all quiet...lol
We are all snow here in the UK still...'cept where I live... the country is running out of salt to grit with... hmmmmm England for ya LOL xxx
-
Sue Cathi is in winter but because she lives in Florida, she is closer to the equator and has moderate temps year around - unless in the winter when the 'polar express' jet stream heads south and she gets a blast of the cold air for short periods of time.
I just got unsettling news. I knew that the shipping depts were working short time (less than 40 hours a week and has sign up week in for unemployment) but we were told today that the hourly employees at the office will be getting their sign up week in over the next 2 weeks (work less than 24 hours) so if we do shut down a week, we will still get the unemployment benefits. People who have worked in the office for 30+ years said that this is the first time the office has been affected by the slow economy. I know about 14 yrs ago the factory was shut down 2 weeks for July 4 instead of the usual 1 week (I was working in the factory then.).

Sue as Shelia said it is winter, and we do get some "cold" days, but our cold snapps usually just last a few days (thank goodness). One of the prettiest things about winter here for me is the sky, today is complete sunshine (but freezing) but the blue sky is so breath taking, not a cloud and it is the nicest shade of blue.
It is quite funny to drive down the street when it is cold (espically here on the beach) we natives are in coats, gloves etc, and then comes a snowbird and they have their little short-shorts on .
Sue a Snowbird is someone who lives up North in the summer and down here in the winter, they migrate like the birds -hence the term snowbird. We also call them Q-Tips, (most are elderly with white hair).

-

xxxx
-
LISA GREAT NEWS...!!!!!!
-
Sheila - that is unsettling...I hope your job is safe? Good to hear that you will get unemployment benefits if work shuts down for a week or so but that would be less than a full wage, I guess?xx
-
(((((Nets))))), thinking of you.
-
Sorry Sheila...this economy is so hard on all of us.
Jane...I know, my doctor...SHE IS THE GREATEST!! I am telling you...my team of women doctors ROCK!! She said..." Lisa, I am not supposed to be doing this, but I called to get the results, and I don't have the report back yet..just verbal..but everything came back great! She said, I have known you now so long, I just couldn't see letting you go through the weekend wondering!!" She is AWESOME!!! Made my day.
I may call Dennis this weekend and share with him. See...I had told him not to contact me anylonger. I think maybe I was being to harsh. ;(
Karen..just know you are going to get good results too!
-
The company I work for is a profitable division of a major furniture manufacturer in the US, other divisions are not as profitable. But due to the down turn in the economy and people are not spending money on the big-ticket items like cars and furniture, our orders are down. The waiting week we work less than 24 hours and we will get a paper from the employment security comission telling us how much we can earn on unemployment if the company does shut down for full weeks. I am not sure how much unemployment benefits I qualify for at this point, it is usually a percentage of what you have made in the last quarter but no where near 100%.
-
I'm so relieved for you, Lisa!!! Yipppeeee!!
Hugs,
Karen
-
Wow. Sorry about that worrisome news, Sheila. My brother owns a radiator and muffler repair business, and they're starting to get more work again after a long, dry stretch. It's scary how many people are suffering financially due to this economic crisis.
Hugs,
Karen
-
Hurray, Lisa!!!! I'm so glad to hear it's B9. And what a super nice dr! She really gets it...how we worry waiting for results.
-
Nancy....your "almost carpel tunnel" worked!! haha. Yes she does get it!! Honestly...she is an angel. I trust her explicitly!
-
Lisa,
I just wanted to say WOOOOOHOOOO. We knew it would be B9B9B9B9B9B9B9B9B9B9B9!
Wonderful to hear there are still doctors out there that really care for their patients mental state.
Stay warm.
ps. I love all the rants. Everyone has their special take but they are all very funny!

I can't wait any longer, I have not shared this bit of wonderful news as so many of you are having such sad times with your precious pets. In March we will have a new baby (Chihuahua) I had one for many years until she too grew old and weak. Ed always promised me another when I turned 50 (we have a kitty now) but my bosses daughter's had puppies 4/weeks ago and we are getting one. We saw her last Saturday - we have named her Margo (after the snippy neighbor in Christmas Vacation - Chevy Chase) that was one of the first illy movies we watched together. But here are some pic's I was just e-mailed. Margo is best seen in the very last one, ready to fall asleep.
