Hi again, everyone! Just had to pop back in before bed to let you all know that my port removal surgery is scheduled for next Thursday. Yippppeeee!!! Can't wait to get rid of the stupid thing. My onky wasn't very supportive of my decision to have it taken out. "Well, if the cancer comes back, you'll have to have another one put in." I love her to death, but I almost stuck my tongue out at her! I refuse to think that way. That frickin' bootface better NOT ever come back!!!!!!!!!! Grrrrrrrr!!!!
Hope you all are resting well. Love you all!
Karen

Oh! Forgot to mention earlier how glad I was to see Jule post. We miss you, girl! I'm glad you and your man are doing so well though. He's a lucky guy!
Hugs,
Karen

Ulla, great you passed your Swedish class. It won't be long and you will be practicing dentistry again!
Sue, you know we love you and if we could, we would have you here with us. Oh and if you decide to move here, my spare room is no longer a spare
.
John has decided to stay in the area and try to get hired locally with a security company that a good friend in the National Guard works for. They like to hire former military personnel and National Guard members. He only had 2 boxes of personel stuff to ship down from NY, but I have lost my sewing room
. I am trying to figure out where to put all the stuff I had in his room (2 sewing machines, boxes of fabric, quilt batting, half finished projects, you know where I am coming from). Not to mention where the stuff that is coming from Honolulu is going to go.
-
Sheila...garage sale time. When my two brothers moved back in last Spring, we had such a purging! But still, our back porch was piled with boxes, with just a path from the back door to the porch door. Finally, we were able to have garage sale in June. I sold the most stuff, since I was willing to let it go for a song, just to get rid of it.
I'm looking forward to Sunday and meeting up with Val and Lisa. A friend recommended a few good breakfast/brunch places in the area we're meeting. How to decide which one? Should we go Country, French, or Belgian?
Last boost today. For real. They can't get me back again for love or money!
-
John said we could put his stuff in a yard sale but I don't know how much we will sell this late in the year. They usually do better in the spring and summer rather than the fall. Some of my stuff I don't want to get rid of, especially my sewing machines, one is the serger to finish the edges of garments and the other one is my regular one I use for everything!
Congrats again on your last rad treatment.
Sheila

Good Day - popping in after my AM at the hospital, chest x-ray, blood work, pre-registration - UGH.
So starnge how diffrent the billing and operating approach things. Billing and pre-registration - a quick "your copay is $475 - do you want to pay now or Friday" The nursing staff - so kind, not that I want a pity party from them, I have a favorite her name is Lucy - All I think of when I see her is to saying "Lucy I'm Back" like Ricky used to say to Lucy on I love Lucy "Lucy I'm Home" Stupid I know,
Anyway yesturday was not such a bad day -today not so hot so far, some relief with drugs but still emotional, and I just can't control this need/urge to do stuff -like clean, laundry stupid things, yet when I start them I start crying, Ed says just leave it be, don't worry about it -thats the whole thing, he already is going to have so much to do, I feel so quilty. Ok I better just stop now (sorry) cause the more I think right now the worse it gets.
LOVE ALL
-
Best wishes to you for your procedure, Cathi!!!!! People who love you understand you need to cry. I soooooooo get it about wanting to "clean up" before having something done. I was that way before my lumpectomy and will be that way tonight before my Mammosite insertion surgery tomorrow. You are not alone!
-
Oh Shari it is so insane the emotions - I hate the emotional rollercoaster worse than the stupid disease I think. I just don't know how you ladies do it with small children at home -your all amazing - my hats off to you. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.
One stupid funny thing happened at the hospital this AM in billing, the lady who was checking me in (and she has my records and chart infront of her and why I was there) asked me if I had had a mamogram yet this year (my mind always wants to say things that my mouth and catholic upbringing won't let me) I shook my head yes -while I was thinking "NOOOOOOO You stupid idiot - I am having my F_in Boobs cut off for the fun in it" UGH!!!!!!!!
-
Cathi, I sooooo know where you are coming from about the billing dept saying repeatedly your amount due for the procedure is xxx, how would you like to pay that today. The bad thing is this was in November and December after I reached my out of pocket max for the year in June and the insurance picked up 100%. I don't know how many times I said, Check your records again, I don't owe anything for todays procedure.
I too wanted to clean up but would break down, My mom and sister cleaned my kitchen while I was in the hospital so I wouldn't have to face it when I got home.

I have had that happen before to Shelia one time I was in for something and my husband just about jumped the desk ( and he is a very passive man) for the same thing, kept saying I needed to pay something like $200 I was way over my out of pocket for the year, the girl kept arguing, he just slammed his fist on the desk said somebody better get me to where I needed to be and he would stay and handle the billing issue. But business is business, and they have their job to do (they just need to get it right).
There is only me and Ed at home, the house is far from needing a cleaning, I work from home so I tidy up on a regular basis, I guess it is that whole female - nesting thing or something. Crazy-Crazy Mind these days.
THANKS SHELIA.
-
Cathi, when that happened to me last year, they first called me the day before for the fast track registration and said I needed to pay 300 for the surgery in December. I corrected the girl and said I had met my out of pocket max, she insisted that I pay in advance. I asked to speak to the supervisor who was not available but the girl said she would look into it and call me back. A few minutes later, her supervisor called and appoligzed for the error and I did not owe anything. The next day when I went in for my procedure, I had to sign the paperwork that they filled out over the phone and once again stated that I needed to pay 300 in advance. I was like your hubby, I insisted that I did not owe anything, I went over each procedure that I had done in that hospital during the year and the fact that I spoke with xxx yesterday and she said it was corrected. The woman then called the supervisor I spoke to the previous day and got clarification that the request for payment paper was inadvertently put in my folder for that days procedure and I did not owe anything. I watched the admitting person pull the page out of the folder and shred it so I would not have to go through that again.

ladies!!
Val and Nancy...the return flight isn't looking too good! I may have to cancel on Sunday. I am pretty short on cash as well. Chicago wiped me out! I can't get stuck there. I'll keep checking on it. If I don't come...you two can still meet up...or should I say...you 3!! Forgot about UB.
I'll let you know for sure.....sorry...
xoxo

26th is open for me, but November starts to get busy with a lot of family stuff.
-
Well todays the day before the day and after 2 floods of tears this AM (one while ironing and one while getting dressed after shower- (had to say good by to the girls) have been pretty good. Not perfect - but better than maybe expected.
I just want to say thanks to everyone for all your support - in case I don't make it back on today i'll be talking to you all in a few days.
XOXOXOXOXOXO

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow, Cathi -

Cathi, I also will be thinking about and praying for you tomorrow. I broke down at midnight before my surgery and called my hubby in tears. He was 2 hours away from home at the time and felt so useless.

SUE I LOOOOOVVVEEEE YOU! You silly sot, see, I learned another one.
Thanks, to CATHI, for clearing up the Sam Hill issue, I knew he was somebody,
Okay, now, SUE, do you know why the english sailors in the 18th century were called "Limeys"?
No one else answer, just Sue. Maybe we'll get her again.
Hehehehehe, Shirlann
CHUFFED??? CHUFFED?????? oh no, another one. SHOOT!
-
I think I know, but Mum's the word.

Hi, midsum, a lot of us do, but if we are lucky, SUE IS TOO YOUNG to know what "Limeys" means, and we can get her! hahahahah
We'll see, we'll see.
Hugs, Shirlann
-
I don't have a clue what the answer is, Shirlann. I can't wait to see if Sue gets it right. You two are so funny!!
Hugs,
Karen
