HEY SUE, what in sam hill is a LASHER?????
We DO speak the same language, until you get cute on us. Lasher???? Huh??? Come on and tell us,
Your favorite Plonker, Shirlann
-
Well, I've been having kind of a crappy day. Chase came home with a note from the teacher today. Apparently, he had some behavioral issues. Nothing big, but upsetting nonetheless. Then Portia's Geometry teacher called and told me that she slept through the help session after school last week. She told me he wasn't willing to help her, so I wrote him an accusatory e-mail. How embarrassing! THEN, I had to take Tinker to the vet's because she has kidney issues and is having pee pee accidents and is peeing blood. THEN my dh came home in a foul mood, asking where I'd put the hard liquor bottles. So I came here, and I read your posts and cracked up at the pictures. I feel so much better now. Thank you!!!!!!!!!
By the way, this is what I feel like these days.
"Do you find me sexy??????" LOL!! Pretty sad that Fat Bastard has bigger boobs than me. Sigh.........................
Hugs,
Karen
-
Big hugs to Judie and Cathi. I'm sorry you're both so sad.
Love the picture, AE! You guys looked so great (but you still do, regardless of what you say).
Love and hugs to everyone,
Karen
-
Karen - I find you very sexy (LOL) sorry for your stinky day.
Getting the hair done did help and it was over due anyway. Tomorrow we are going for a lunch at our favorite little sea food place - they make the worlds best onion rings - Wednesday I have blood work and chest x-ray and then I am visiting the "boobie boutique" my BS has recommended it is owned and run by 3 BC survivors so I think it will be a positive thing, Thursday I am getting a manicure and pedicure - hell if I can't have boobs for awhile gonna have good hair and nails. And Friday is the big day - good thing is I haven't cried in a few hours and I was actually able to eat something tonite - I think the margurita helped.
-
Cathi, you're doing all those 'feel good' things that you need to do, so just keep moving forward and don't look back.
I think 'good hair' will help too, LOL! I had my hair done before my BL mastectomy and had it perfectly styled (with no gels, etc) the day of surgery. It made my day when the nurses all commented on my pretty hair too. After surgery my hair stayed looking good for a long time too and I was so glad I had it all done.
Continue to do all those nice things after your surgery too. I went ahead and let folks pamper me and I think it helped in the rate at which I healed up. I said 'yes' to anyone who wanted to bring me dinners and help with housework.
I'm in your cheering squad sending as much positive support as I can.
Sue, ummm... Shirlann is right... when your language gets cute...I start to wonder which one of us is still speaking English, LOL! I love it!!!
Hugs!

-
Sue, I will have you know that I was up when you posted about hearing all the snoring ladies over here in North Americal! only because Penelope woke me up at 5:00 am wanting to go out. I wanted to get up early anyway, John called last night during DWTS and said that his flight plans had changed and he was flying in this afternoon! I didn't have his room ready for him to sleep there yet! I cleaned last night until 11:00 pm and was up at 5:00 am, at least his bedding is washed and bed made so he will have a place to sleep tonight!
Cathi, enjoy the spa treatment tomorrow, we deserve some time for ourselves before we have surgery.
Sheila
-
Oh Shelia I missed DWTS - we usually record it just incase - somehow forgot to do that, we have 3 TV's and can't believe I never even remembered it was on - Oh well, we had football and our Tampa Bay Rays are kicking hinny in baseball -Yeah!!!
Wren for my lumpectomy, 2 excisionas and all the needle biopsies I always do the same thing, get up early enough to apply the make-up, do the hair -CRAZY, always get the hair compliments as weel, After having so many procedures over the last 2 years there are some nurses at the hospital of coarse you become quite friendly with, they always lift the sheet to see what I have done to my toes. We have friends who are planning on droping of food -I am learing to say yes to that (thats a hard one for me - not sure why) and even a few that have offered to come over and babysit me if Ed needs to leave for work or anything - running his own business helps -but I amm sure he will need so time to himself after a few days.
Hope everyone has a great day -xoxoxoxoxo

Mornin All,

dear sisters,,
i know it was long time since i posted but it was just that i was feeling so down depressed and didn't want to bother u all or to interrupt all the ongoing laughs,,i kept coming here twice daily but just couldn't post,,i didn't want really to talk about the dark place that i was in,,but i was thinking so hard how to help myself to get out of it,,i surrounded myself with Swedish language books,,i studied so hard days and nights,,i almost didn't slept well at all..but i made something good out of all the sadness and suffering ,, i just took the 4th level(D level)in Swedish language today..it equals 9years in Swedish school..
i feel so good as i was studying so hard in the last 2 weeks just trying to run away from thinking about BC i can say it helped me someway to be surrounded by 3 dictionaries and 3 books in Swedish (grammars,,general informations and listening books) above all my 3 copybooks for my own notes,,all on the bed,,thank god my DH traveled to Baghdad be4 he saw this scene,,,
i got 53/60 now i can apply for the intensive medical Swedish language course which is in the Goteborg University,,i feel like i have made a huge step forward,,
i do think of all of u every day as i was coming daily and read all the posts ,,just couldn't say anything ,,i didn't want to depress all my nice ..lovely sisters with me..so i preferred to shut up my mouth ...
dear cathi,,i hope everything will goes well..plz take good care of urself,,and try not to look back..u will be healthy again once the surgery done...
all my other sisters forgive me as i cant really adress all and each one of u ,,i love u soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much
-
Wow, Ulla, what an accomplishment! Congratulations! Way to find something incredibly productive and challenging and admirable to do while you deal with (ok, maybe escape from) your blues about BC. Hm... I haven't learned a new language or written a book or climbed any mountains... so as far as I'm concerned, just making it through the day and laughing and smiling when things are good is where I found some happiness....
-
Ulla, you are amazing! What an intelligent lady you are! I'm glad that you found something to take your mind off bootface. I hope you start feeling better emotionally very soon. We miss you! You know, you can always come here to voice your fears and sad emotions. Please don't think you're bringing us down by doing so. We love being here for you--even during the rough times.
Love and hugs,
Karen
-
Love to all of you!!!
Ulla....I am so happy to see you here!!! I am sorry that you are still feeling "dark". It's good you threw yourself into your studies and didn't think about bootface. What wonderful grades you got!! You go girl..and never worry about "bothering" us!! Please honey, you know we are always here for you.
Cathi....I know you only have a few more days...and I just want to wish you all the best...you are doing the right thing!
I am actually...extrememly exhausted!! I could not get on a flight out of Chicago yesterday...I tried and tried (remember, I travel standby) anyhow....I was getting fustrated and wondered if I would get back in time for work today. So my daughter thought of me taking what's called the Mega Bus...it is inexpensive and only takes 6 1/2 hrs. So...I left the airport, took the train back to Danni's place, hung out there for the evening, then took the bus to the station and got on the bus at midnight last night. I got back at 7:30am, got a ride to my house and showered and came to work....whew...I am dead tired!!! That is the first time I have ever gotten stuck traveling! I think it's cause the flights were so full, because of the Chicago Marathon this past weekend....everyone was flying home! Oh well...
Judie...I am sorry you are so down. Know that we are here for you..and keeping you in our thoughts! We love you Judie.
I forgot...a big welcome to Shari and all the newbies here!! Welcome!
Back to work sisters. Cross your fingers that I don't have any horrible experiences this Sunday...as I travel to see Val and UB and Nancy!! I know the return flights aren't the greatest!! yikes!
Love to you all!
xoxo

Hugs, Shirlann
-
Shirlann...isn't it Sam Hell...outta here?? lol...that's what I always thought.
You are right...the English language as we know it, is pretty mixed up!! haha
-
NOW I AM ALMOST AS SMART AS ULLA - LOL
: Where did the saying "what in/where in sam's hell?" originate from???
SAM HILL - "If someone could locate any historical record of a Col. Samuel Hill of Guilford, Connecticut, we might find the origin of the phrase 'go like Sam Hill' or 'run like Sam Hill.' Edwin V. Mitchell makes mention of the man in the 'Encyclopedia of American Politics (1946). It seems that Colonel Hill perpetually ran for office - but no other evidence of his existence can be found. Since no one knows 'who in the Sam Hill' he was, Sam Hill must remain 'a personified euphemism our puritan ancestors used for 'hell.'" From "Encyclopedia of Word and Phrase Origins" by Robert Hendrickson (Facts on File, New York, 1997)
: A second reference states: "Sam Hill is one of many euphemisms for 'hell' like 'blazes,' 'Halifax,' 'heck,' 'Hoboken' and many more. This one was very popular with frontiersmen, especially when they needed to clean up their language in the presence of ladies. Will James records the comment of a cowboy who felt he had been insulted by an Eastern dude: 'What the Sam Hill do you think we are out here, servants?' The first record appearance in print of 'Sam Hill' was in 1839. Elmer Roessner, an editor friend, reported that turn-of-the-century Seattle newspapers made regular use of this expression. Jim Hill, the legendary 'empire builder,' whose railroads, including the Great Northern, remained his last monument, was a man given to notable rages when anyone dared to oppose one of his grandiose schemes. So frequent were these tirades, according to Roessner, that the papers carried as a standing head: 'Jim Hill is as mad as Sam Hill.'" From "Morris Dictionary of Word and Phrase Origins" by William and Mary Morris (HarperCollins, New York, 1977, 1988).
In the rural US decades past "Sam Hill" would have been, as someone posted above "...one of many euphemisms for 'hell'..." and was to clean up the language. "Nice" boys and and almost all girls would have been admonished to not even use "Sam Hill".
