Hi Sue
! Please rest up. How long before they check you blood count again? I hope they are keeping a close eye on you. Boy I wish we all lived closer together. This is the time we could come by and cook and clean and run your erands so you could just rest.xx Know that I would if I could dear Sue. I just want you to get better now! What did they say about the bleeding? Anything to watch for? Did they give you anything for that or the pain? Rest up Sue. Much love and hugs and prayers to you.xxxx Melody
-
I'm also relieved that they didn't give you chemo today, Sue. Your body needs to rest and heal before they pump any more of that poison into you. When will they check your blood counts again? Take care sweetie--we love you!
Love and hugs to everyone!

WOW!!! Did any of you watch Idol tonight??? Jason Castro did a rendition on a ukulele of Somewhere over the Rainbow that was terrific!!! It brought tears to my eyes and made me think of all of you!!!
That song is brilliant!!!
Nite all,
AE

It comes on in a half hour here, AE. Can't wait to watch it!! He's the one with the dreads, right?
HUgs,
Karen
-
Yea, thats him. I thought they were all good tonight. Enjoy!!
AE
-
You're right, AE. It was a really good show! I was a little disappointed with my two favorites--David Cook and Carly Smithson. I thought the two best were Jason and David Archuleta. They have such an awesome group of kids this season!
G'night all. Hope you're all having sweet dreams.
Hugs,
Karen

I love you too Sue! I hope you don't have a really hectic day at work. I wish you would take some time off to recover. Are they giving you anything to get your counts back up?

Nancy - your son sounds so creative! A lot of young people go through a stage where they are looking for their niche. (And a lot of older people like me!!) Perhaps he doesn't need a degree for the work he enjoys so much - just a lucky break with the right organisation which will appreciate his talents and passion. Sometimes it's worth casting about a bit before settling into a career. I'm sending him my best wishes in finding what is right for him.
Shirlann - your trip sounds so exciting! What exciting stories you will have when you come back - and great photos too!

AE: Well, I have to fess up to being 56...57 in a matter of weeks. My secret to young looks is to stay out of the sun without a lot of sunblock. As a natural redhead, I burned and never really tanned anyway, so after an ill-spent youth trying to go against nature (and I have the freckles to show for it), I finally stopped baking in the sun.
One of my sisters married a plastic surgeon, and he told me that there are basically three things that age the skin. Two of them we can control: 1) sun damage 2) smoking 3) genes. So I quit sunbathing in my early 20s, never smoked, and was lucky enough to get some pretty good genes. My dad is 89 but looks like he's in his 60s.
Jane: I told Jack he had to find some kind of job, paying or not paying, that put him on some kind of career path that he liked. I even sent him some job listings I found. What more can a mother do? I pay for his food, so he won't starve, but he has to come up with his rent and cell phone. I just hope he doesn't end up like his father, just scraping by living hand to mouth, nothing put aside for retirement, with several "careers" that went bust, and not a single wise move in his life (except marrying me, but he blew THAT when he left).
Sue: Take it easy, please. You're the Manager...so manage, but don't do all the heavy lifting. That's what those lazy young men are for.
Lisa: My SIL travels up into Ohio for business. I'll ask her to keep an eye out for it. I had a few actor friends in NY that got small commercial parts, but that was oh-so long ago. I always got a kick out of seeing them.
AI fans: Did Jason do Somewhere Over the Rainbow á la Israel Kamakawiwo'ole? He was the Hawaiian singer who did it several years ago. Iz died in 1997, but his medley of SOTR/What a Wonderful World is still hitting the Billboard charts. It's so sweet, it makes me cry every time I hear it.

Nancy I follow your rules for looking young and I am 47 but people don't believe that I have a 22 yr old son. They can't believe that I am as old as I am. the only thing that gives it away is the silver in my hair, but now it looks like a good high light job. I am not a redhead but always burned when in the sun and I also have freckles on my arms because of it.
Sue, I agree with Nancy, you are the manager - delegate some of the lifting to the the younger men on your crew.
sorry, I don't watch AI but I do watch Dancing with the Stars.
Sheila
-
Nancy - Holy Crap!!! You look fabulous!!! I guess heading for the beach every summer and smoking for 15 years is why I look 80!!
Yes, Jason did that rendition. It was awesome!!!
Gotta run

Hi Sue, I do not post much, but I read. You are such a trooper.
You just keep strong each and every day. You will get there.
Remember, never to give up the faith and hope, it is there and
real. Take Care.
God Bless,
Kaloni
-
Ulla - sorry, honey, but I can't help you!!!
Sue - you go girl, have a great time shopping!!!
Someday I'll wish upon a star and wake up where the clouds are far behind me.
-
I'm sorry, Ulla. I'm incredibly technologically challenged. I'm sure someone (Judie??) will come along and be able to help you.
Ahhh, shopping!! My favorite thing in the world, Sue. Other than chatting with all of my friends here, that is
. Have a wonderful time!
I stopped tanning in my mid 30's, Nancy. I was a sun worshiper for FAR too many years. My skin is so sun damaged. I'm seeing more and more age spots. I hate it! I used to go to the tanning bed once a week throughout the winter months to maintain a year-round tan. Not very smart. I'm sure that's why my boob isn't burning too badly from the rads. I used to lay in the tanning bed buck nekked. My boobies are used to harmful rays.
Hugs to everyone!
Karen
-
I'm sorry, Ulla dear! You must be frantic. My guess is that your only hope is to call the support people at Yahoo. When a security question is given a wrong answer several times (usually 3) the account locks. Sometimes it is just for 24 hours, so you might try again today. But there is no way to work around it by yourself if that fails. Yahoo is the only one that can fix it for you.
I think we need a couple of contests. One for the most-often mistaken for much younger, and one for the most-often mistaken for an old hag.
All this skin talk made me think back, then look in the mirror. Raised in the Idaho desert, pale Scandinavian skin, no special skin creams...guess which category I have a chance to win???
At least I didn't do much sunbathing. It was useless. It was paleface or redface...no lovely tanface ever happened.
Busy day today. Hopefully BBL. If not, hugs all around!
Judie

Kaloni it is ALWAYS nice to know you're there xxx
Where are you all today ...don't tell me AI is on tonite....ho hum ...you are all AWOL on me xxx
I went shopping and binged out at KFC ...I forgot to tell you ...I asked the wee young nurse were her scales broke on Tuesday as I weighed in at a freaking 10 stone....OH MY .... I will have to go the gym xxx
Much Love xxx

Hi Sue! I'm awake and it's far too early! I woke up and suddenly thought that I might have sent an email to my ex-husband by mistake. I got in a lather of sweat, jumped out of bed and checked my 'sent' box and to my great relief I hadn't. How embarrassing that would have been! Anyway, that was at 4.30 am and I'm still wide awake. The birds are starting to sing now so I probably won't go back to sleep.
What a funny video that was - the penguin reminded me of "Happy Feet" and the polar bear - so funny! I wonder why he was doing that?! So true though - it reminds me of going back to school as well as work.
Hi everyone else!
Lots of love to all...
Jane xxxx
-
That polar bear looks like me every morning since I started rads! I draaaaaggggg!!! 24 down and 10 more to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am SO ready to be done with it all! I can't complain too much--the time has absolutely flown by.
Are you having a wonderful day off, Sue? Is your onc going to check your blood counts again next Tuesday? It sure sounds like you're feeling better. I'm so glad! I worry about you so much!
Judie, Jane--good to hear from you! I hope you're having a great (although busy in your case, Judie) day. Near 70 degrees by Saturday, Judie!! Whooo hooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love and hugs to everyone.
Karen
-
Hi Ladies,
Quiet around here today.
Sue - so what did you buy today??? So glad to see you are feeling better. That video could be me!!! LOL. By the way, how much is 10 stone is pounds??
Karen - hang in there- you are almost at the finish line!!
Judy - I am almost afraid to lose weight - it will make my face twice as wrinkley!!!LOL
Ulla - do youi get your computer problem fixed yet???
Nancy - was your weather as nice as ours was here today???
Jane - still waiting for those pics of the new place.
Lisa - where are you????
Kaloni - WELCOME!!!
bbl,
AE
By the way, Sue - UB wants to know if you know who Lou Reed is???
-
One stone = 14 pounds. I learned all this reading and re-reading "Black Beauty" (by Anna Sewell) as a girl. And a "hand" is 4 inches -- "Black Beauty stood 17 hands high from fetlock to withers."
Okay, nerd girl signing off now!
Ann
-
One more thing -- I just noticed NancyD's new avatar --
Beautiful !
-
Ladies , I just wrote a very long post and when I submitted it , POOF! Its gone
! I HATE THAT!!!!!!!! And I have to go now. I'll try to write later. Love you ladies. Mel
-
Oh! Don't you hate that Mel? I hope you have time to come back later.
Sue, if one stone equals 14 pounds, then 10 stone must be 140 pounds? If so, you weigh exactly what I do! Shortly after my diagnosis, I weighed 122 lbs. I gained almost 20 lbs while doing chemo!!! And I can't seem to get rid of it!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the conversions, Ann.
Nancy, your new avatar is GORGEOUS!! You are soooooo pretty in that picture. Is that your wig, or your real hair? Whichever it is, the style looks great on you. It's amazing how young you look for your age.
Hi AE! Hope you and UB are having a wonderful day.
Hugs to all,
Karen
-
Thanks Anne for filling me in!!
Jeez, Nancy, now I'm really depressed - your new avatar is gorgeous!!!
Karen - I gained 20lbs as well - I cannot lose it!!
Gotta get some sleep,
TTYT,
AE
