I wish I could lose 20 lbs!
Hi again everyone. AE, as soon as I can get up to the mountains I will take some photos. I thought it might be bad luck to take any before the sale went through! (Don't count your chickens...etc).

Oh, to be ONLY 10 stone! I've lost 1 stone since New Year's, but have about 4 stone to go to get down to 10!!!!
-
Oh my gosh, ladies! A friend from Australia sent me this e-mail, so women in their 30's and 40's from all over the world must be able to relate to this. I just about died because I could relate to every one of these!
IF YOU WERE A GIRL IN THE 70'S...
:> I think you boys also would remember this
You owned a bicycle with a banana seat and a plastic basket with flowers on it.
You learned to skate with actual skates (not roller blades) that had metal wheels.
You thought Gopher from Love Boat was cute (admit it!)
You had nightmares after watching FantasyIsland.
YEAH! You owned a 'Slip-n-Slide' , on which you injured yourself on a sprinkler head more than once.
You owned 'Klick-Klacks' and smacked yourself in the face more than once !
Your Holly Hobbie sleeping bag was your most prized possession.
You wore a poncho, gauchos, and knickers.
You spent hours in your backyard on your metal swing set with the trapeze. The swing set tipped over at least once.
You had homemade ribbon barrettes in every imaginable color. (Oh yeah!)
You wanted to be Laura Ingalls Wilder really bad; you wore that Little House on the
Prairie-inspired plaid, ruffle shirt with the high neck in at least one school picture;
And you despised Nellie Oleson!
You wanted your first kiss to be at a roller rink!
PONG! ('video tennis' ) was the most remarkable futuristic game you've ever heard of !
Your hairstyle was described as having 'wings' or 'feathers' and you kept it 'pretty'
With the comb you kept in your back pocket.
When you walked, the 'wings' flapped up and down, looked like you were gonna 'take off'
You know who Strawberry Shortcake is, as well as her friends, Blueberry Muffin and Huckleberry Pie.
You carried a Muppets lunch box to school and it was metal, not plastic.
With the thermos inside some were glass and broke the first time you dropped them.
You and your girlfriends would fight over which of the Dukes of Hazzard was your boyfriend.
YOU had Star Wars action figures, too!
It was a big event in your household each year when the 'Wizard of Oz' would come on TV.
Your mom would break out the popcorn and sleeping bags!
You spent hours wondering : 'Who will I marry.
Shaun Cassidy, Leif Garrett, or David Cassidy?'
You completely wore out your Grease, Saturday Night Fever, and Fame soundtrack record album.
You tried to do lots of arts and crafts, like yarn and Popsicle-stick God's eyes, decoupage,
Or those weird potholders made on a plastic loom.
You used to tape record songs off the radio by holding your portable tape player up to the speaker.
You had subscriptions to Dynamite and Tiger Beat.
You thought Olivia Newton John's song 'Physical' was about aerobics. (?? Its not??)
You wore friendship pins on your tennis shoes, or shoelaces with heart or rainbowdesigns.
You wanted to be a Solid Gold dancer.
You glopped your lips in Strawberry Roll-on lip-gloss till it almost dripped off.
PASS THIS ON TO ALL OF YOUR 30 OR 40-SOMETHING GIRLFRIENDS.IT WILL MAKE THEM SMILE TOO!!!
How about the rest of you? What a total flash from the past!
Hugs,
Karen

I just can't post anything funny this week! Nothing comes through. Maybe I do it too late at night when I'm tired. Sigh..........
G'night all! Much love to every one of you!

Yes, that's me in my new wig. I had my daughter snap the pic yesterday while we had some very, very nice weather. Chemo #2 went well, I'm staying ahead of the se's so far, but this weekend will tell if I'm beating them better than last time.
Talk about weight! My onc said not to lose anything, so what do I go and do? I lost 3 lbs. Well, I guess the change in taste and the other se's had me off my usual feedbag, LOL. But if I hold the main se at bay, I will be right back up there next weigh-in. And I want to keep my tummy around until I see what the ps says is the best method for me for recon. More ice cream!
Emily has to finish a paper for school this morning, so I'm on and off. Later.
-
Boy, it was quiet today. My son sent me a message that he passed the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist test! It was important to him that he pass that test and get the ESWS pin to wear on his uniform.
I have to go home now. Catch up on everyone Monday.

Hi all , I am gonna try this again. If it gets lost , I will scream my head off!
Judie , you and I would be in close competition for that contest. Lets see, I am fair with freckles , green eyes and alburn hair. I get this from my Mom(english). My sister , who could tan even on a cloudy day , gets this from our Father(hungarian). So all my growing up years I would try to "tan" like my sister. Needless to say , I always ended up with a "savage burn"! Until the end of summer , then from damaging my skin , I would start to tan , but by then it was fall. OK , repeat this progess for thirty years , and hey , don't forget I used baby oil and iodine too! And add smoking to that... So , I think I might get to win that contest!lol I am beautiful , I am beautiful , I am beautiful...Shoe leather is beautiful right!?!
Sue , glad you're feeling better! I loved the video. I look like the penquin on Fridays , and I look like the polar bear Monday through Thursday! Too cute.xx
Jane , you must take some pics of the new homestead! I can't wait to see it. I have never owned my own home , always wanted to , but I guess was never ment to be. So I shall live vicariously through you and Karen and anyone here buying a home. Hope you are well and class is going well also.xx
Nancy , goregeous pic! Don't worry about losing weight right now. If you are anything like the rest of us , when you get you're tastebuds back after chemo , you will make up for it!xx
Shirlann , you should be on the amazon by now! Take pics , can't wait to hear how you're whole trip went. I know a little dog and cat who are gonna be glad to see you when you get home. Hope you and Walt are having a fabulous time.xx
OK , Anne , thanks for the conversion. I have gained a mountain! And I won't tell anyone the conversion for that!lolxx
Kaloni , good to see you post here! Hope all is well with you. Come back and tell us all the latest happenings in your life. xx
AE , hope you and UB are doing well. I hope UB ses' are at bay. Keeping you both in my prayers.xx
Karen , how are you feeling besides tired from rads? You know your avatar is absolutely beautiful too. Hows the hair coming along? I'm glad to hear you and Judie are in for some spring weather. We were 70 degrees today , but it is cooling off now and they are calling for a rain and snow mix for tomorrow. Oh well , at least this time of year , I know it won't last long. My daffodills are springing up! Hope the cold doesn't kill them. xx
Lisa , glad to hear the headache is gone. I think you are now on the upswing , and will start feeling better soon. Surgery takes alot out of you girl , so still rest as often as you can.xx
Mommy Mia , are you OK? We haven't heard from you in a while. For all the ladies we haven't heard from for a while , Valsul , Karyll , Lucy , Cyndi ,and anyone I missed , I think of you and pray for you always.
Take care everyone. And have a great weekend.xxxx Melody
-
Oh Sheila , I ment to say congrats to your son. Thats great. I'm sure you are so proud of him. I will keep him in my prayers. I hope he knows how all of us appreciate him for serving our country. Oh , and give Penelope a big hug and kiss for me.xx Mel
-
Hi everyone. Hope your weekend is starting off well. I just had to share with you all , my dream last night. I was dreaming of my ex-boyfriend , I had gone to his house. He took me by the hand , led my to the bedroom , I laid down on the bed. He started to pull up my blouse , I grabbed his hand in protest. He said "come on , its just me" , so he pulled up my blouse , and grabbed my reconstructed boob , and said " oh my god , what did they do to you honey"! I immediately pulled my blouse down and left.
OK , what the hell was that all about!?! I don't mean "what does that dream mean" , but why did I dream that? Man , what is lurking around my sub-conscious!
Alright , enough twilight zone stuff...
I got up early , did my state tax on line and now I am off to start my domestic goddess duties! Hope you all have a lovely day. Hugs Mel

dont stress too much about your periods and ovarian pain, we wonam are lucky when it comes to taht, as soon as we are stresed, upset, run down, not eating properly etc, we get all the lovely side effects.
it probably doesnt help that you have your family history on your mind and everything is seeming worse than it is. our minds can wonder and drive us crazy.
my mum is 63 and just got diagnosed with invasive duct. it is a huge shock and i felt like i as going to break down. but the best thing you can do right now, is listen to everyone here and dont be afraid to ask any questions at all.
one thing i have learnt is that there is deffinalty a light at the end of the tunnel, no matter how small it seems right now. also, dont forget that your family loves and cares for you, and although i dont want to break down in front of them, it will mean the world to them to be involved. and you will be thankful for letting them in, as it will onlyhelp you be stronger.
stay positive, and take one day at a time.
in the mean time, try to keep your daily rountine as normal as possible, it will help take alot of the worry and upset and stress away.
-
Mel, I'm no psychologist, but I think we all know that whatever recon we choose, there will be some part of us that knows it is not the original part. And while we do enjoy the fact that we can have something that approximates the lost breast, we miss the lost sensation or the naturalness that made it so "at home". Some women like the perkyness of their new breast better and have the good one done to match, but that's just for appearance only. I don't think most would have gone through the trouble of a breast lift if the cancer did not happen in the first place.
I have one friend who did it, but she's very vain anyway. She's a former model, and she's already had an eyelift, a mini face lift, and the boob lift. And having a brother-in-law who's a retired plastic surgeon, I know the type of woman who does have these things for their own sake are usually very vain and often are "addicted" to cosmetic procedures. They're the ones who have few misgivings about it all because they buy into the whole thing from the beginning...make the choice to alter their bodies.
We don't. We're forced into it. But at least we now have methods to make some kind of substitution that frees us to dress and feel like our bodies are whole again. I'm glad the ps world has come around to better recon methods, and hope the future brings even more advancements.

Ulla! Nonsense. You don't have an ugly head! Your face is so beautiful , you can pull off having that short , short look. Honestly. I'm so glad Karen gave you something to help with the growth. It makes a world of difference to have your own hair and not have to wear a wig anymore. Can you tell if it is gonna be curly yet? I'm trying to grow mine out some , but it is so curly it is getting to the "wild" looking stage!xx
Nancy , thanks for the insight. Yes , I'm glad I have my "recyled" breast as one of the other ladies called it(lol) , but when I take my clothes off , forget it!xx

Sorry its been so long since Ive posted....I have been reading daily but have been getting more nervous by the day about my upcoming follow ups so have kind of withdrawn to myself.

We are going to work outside today since it is bright and sunny and suppose to be in the 70's so I will try to get some good pics of her to show you....After having her for a little over a week now Im trying to figure out why I didnt do this before

-
Valerie,
Its ok about the LOTS of exercise, not like I cant do with some myself as Im back up to 148 lbs and thats ALOT when a girl is only 5' 1"!!!!!!!
Libby and I have gone a walk each night and I find that she urges me to be more active so I love her silly!!!!!!
She is sooooooo much better than getting a puppy.....I got her from a family with young children that had a job transfer and couldnt take her because they were moving to the city....Im so glad I did this!!!!!
She loves my grandchildren and that is a MUST for me as they are here often...she loves to play frizzbee....chase sticks whatever but when she's tired....boy is she tired!!!! flops down and tucks in for the rest of the evening right beside my recliner until I go to bed then she wonders into the bedroom with me and sacks out on her pillow next to my bed..
David, my 5 yr old grandson discovered that she LOVES to play tug-o-war with him so he says he's happy that I have Libby.
Its about 75 degrees out and I just came in for a drink...I have mowed my yard, pulled weeds, fixed a spot on the house where birds were planning to make their nest (NOT), planted some pansies and of course played with Libby....but I had better get back out there as I want to take advantage of the weather as it is forcasted back to rain on Monday
.
Hope everyone is having a nice Saturday.
Jule

I just wanted to say that I've been completely, completely lazy today. It's after 4pm and I have no intentions of getting out of my pj's. I did have a nice warm bubble bath with a cup of raspberry tea, and does anyone have an idea why we become such dyslexic typists when we're on chemo? I can't seem to write one sentence that doesn't have to be corrected :-(
All my good intentions about walking after treatment went out the window with our schizo weather here. Warm one day, rainy and chilly the next...so mixed today that it was sunny one minute and then cloudy and cool before I could get dressed. (Yeah, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.) My mind is clear but my inside feels weak.
Ulla, I think you look great with your short hair. It looks like you have a beautifully shaped head along with a beautiful face, and with that, you can get away with ANYTHING!
Sue, Jule, I know how you feel. I read all the time but sometimes don't have the time to write, too. I read from work...and get interrupted there. I read from home...and get interrupted there.
Well, time to go shuffle around in my robe, look forlorn, and get someone to make me another cup of tea. I feel like playing it up today, LOL.
-
Hi ladies , saw this on another thread , thought it would be fun to do. In honor of counting down Sue's tx by fingers!lol Go to the link and take the quiz. I'm a thumb! xxxx Mel
http://www.blogthings.com/whatfingerareyouquiz/
You'll probably have to copy and paste in your addy at the top of your screen.

Don't worry about being unmotivated, Nancy. We all have days like that. I had LOTS of them during chemo. Your raspberry tea sounds yummy. I read your post and decided to fix a cup for myself. I've found a really great raspberry pomegranate green tea. Very tasty!
AE, I'm sorry that UB is still suffering from the chemo se's. Give him lots of hugs from us.
Sue, I'm sorry that you've been too tired to post. We miss you, but totally understand. I have a question for you though. Have you heard of FitFlop sandals? I bought a pair, and apparently they're all the rage in the UK (or so they advertise). They're supposed to work out your leg muscles as you walk. We'll see...........
Ulla, your new avatar is great! Your hair has grown so much. I'm so glad that I was able to help. You have always been beautiful. Blond, brunette, bald.....it doesn't matter. You're gorgeous!!
Libby sounds great, Jule! I love border collies. They're SO smart!! She sounds like a great companion. I wish I had someone to encourage me to exercise. Actually, Chase and I took our dachshound, Tinker, on a walk yesterday. She ended up getting into a fight with the neighbor's bulldog. It was not fun. I thought for sure I'd get bit while trying to break it up.
Good for you on your weight loss, Lisa. I lost four pounds immediately after finishing chemo and haven't been able to lose an ounce since! Very frustrating!
Well, it's beautiful out--the warmest day we've had since OCTOBER!! I'm going to go out and make the most of it!!
Love to everyone--Mel, Sheila, Mia (I saw you on another thread--please come back and tell us how you are), Wren, Shirlann (who's having a wonderful time, I'm sure), Judie, Jane, Lucy, Ann, and anyone I may be forgetting.
Hugs,
Karen

Hi everybody. Have just been reading all your posts and love all your interesting news.
Firstly, Ulla - you look fantastic! Imagine how long your hair will be by summer! It's so good to see you back her posting. I know that, when I feel tired, it's hard to post so how much harder it must be for those of you having treatments.
Nancy - you look lovely too - gorgeous face! And the wig looks so natural! I think it's a great idea to have a lazy day once a week and stay in your pjs. I enjoyed reading what you said about Mel's dream.
Jule - a border collie!!! I LOVE them! If I was moving to a house with a big yard, that would be one of the breeds I would consider getting. I also love labradors, golden retrievers, cattle dogs, kelpies...the list goes on and on. But border collies have the sweetest dispositions and are wonderful with children.
You know how they say that owners sometimes resemble their dogs? Well, I used to have an overweight Australian cattle dog (!) so next time I think I will get a whippet so that I can model myself on her and lose weight!
Sue - I hope you can have a restful Sunday and sleep as much as you can. We know you are there reading our posts and that you will pop in occasionally to touch base but sleep and rest as much as you can - your body needs it to heal and get ready for your final treatments.
Hi and welcome to Prycylla - some great advice there!
Sheila - you must be so proud of your son. Congratulations on his success in passing that test!
Mel - I can relate to your dream. I have had several about my post mastectomy body. It's not as though I think about it much in every day life but it comes up in my dreams - usually involves being naked and exposed in a public place!!! I think it's just part of the healing/coming-to-terms-with- everything journey and, whether we have recon or not, we are still aware that our bodies and mindsets have changed...
AE - please give my love and best wishes to UB. I hope the s/es improve soon. Hope you are both having a restful weekend with some happy moments.
Shirlann - I can imagine you on the Amazon. Are there crocodiles? Can't wait to see some pics.
Hugs to all I have mentioned here and all that I haven't. I really should get up and go for a walk. Now, if I had a dog I would be really inspired to get moving!
Love to all
Jane xxxx

DEAR NANCY,,THANKS ALOT FOR LIFTING MY SPIRIT UP...
UR PIC SAYING SO MUCH TOO ABOUT UR BEAUTY,,I CAN FEEL THAT U R A BEAUTIFULL PERSON NOT ONLY A BEAUTIFULL FACE,,I CAN FEEL IT..
MUCH LOVE
-
Karen! Great to hear from you! I'm so glad you didn't get bitten by the bulldog! When I had a dog, there were always bigger dogs that would scare her - luckily, she was very docile and didn't pick fights. Dachshounds can be quite feisty! They are dear little dogs - I think they have the sweetest faces.
Lisa - what's your weight loss secret? Congrats on losing and good luck with the rest, although, from your photos, you look fine to me. It's great about the child support! About time, too!
-
Mel - I'm a ring finger!
-
Mel - I'm an index finger!!!
-
Mmm, I think these tests are fun but we shouldn't take them too seriously!
-
Mel I am an index finger!!!
