We had a great time at the retreat. We made 'book thongs' book marks. beeds and charms threaded on a piece of embroidery floss and knotted to keep the beeds on each end of the thread.

Wow. i can't believe I have been here this long and never knew about this hugaghan thing. I love to knit and crochet and would love to take part. I went to the web site and it just looks like an advertisement...where do you go to find what kind of yarn, squares, etc.? I have tons of leftover yarn and would love to help. Where do you sign up?!?
-
Hi, raro ~
Welcome! Here's the new link to the Warm Up America guidelines that we use:
http://craftyarncouncil.com/patterns.htmlBasically, our "squares" are 7x9 blocks of washable yarn in any pattern and any color. Each square gets a border of black double crochet. You can either border them yourself or send them to any of the "Border Patrol" (LauraGTO, purplemb, others?!).
The bordered squares are joined into lovely hugaghans by liz and Madison.
Welcome, welcome, welcome!
-
Madison ~ a box of squares is on its way to you.
-
raro welcome to the hugaghan project !!!!!!!
-
I don't know how to crochett but I do knit, could I still particepate?
-
Laurie_R - Welcome. Yes, you can contribute squares too. I too can only knit ( basic stitch only) and have contributed squares. This is a very rewarding project.
-
Hi All,
I mailed this afghan yesterday
Thank you all for your help.....we really, really couldn't do this project without your help.
-
Laura-R and Raro............
Welcome, Welcome
The yarn used has to be machine washable because all afghans are washed and dryed before they are mailed.
I do have some simple crochet and knit directions for the 7x9 squares. Please let me know if you need a pattern as I would be more than happy to PM the directions to each of you.
Again, welcome..............as it takes 42 squares per afghan so we really, really could not do this project without help.
-
I am finishing another afghan tonight and will probably be putting it in the mail Thursday......
-
Laurie R ~ welcome to the project!
Madison ~ Lovely, lovely hugaghan. Thanks so much for the pics!
Hugs to everyone!
-
BEAUTIFUL, Madison!......I PM'd the info you asked for...........
I only have about 4 squares done.......Not enough to send yet but I am working on so many projects I work on squares in between my projects........ -
Artemis, thank you, thank you for the wonderful squares I received in the mail today. Also, thank you for the black yard as I would have had to make a yarn run tonight if I hadn't received the black yarn.
They are great squares and I'm starting on a new afghan in a bit....
-
Thank you all very much........this afghan will go out in Friday's mail....
-
Madison ~ you're quite welcome for the yarn; I'm glad it saved you a yarn run! The new hugaghan is so pretty!
The squares above and to the right of the ribbon square: are those knitted with variegated yarn?
Hugs to everyone! -
Artemis,
Those squares are crocheted with varigated yarn.
The check square below the ribbon is a knitted square.
Hugs, Madison
