Hello,
I am back from GA and have an afghan started.......I've been trying to catch up on things at home (including sleep).
THanks and hugs
-
Madison!...I didn't know you were in GA!.....I am just north of Atlanta.....Too bad .....We could have probably met up.......Welcome home!......
-
Hello? Anybody home? I am getting up the nerve to start making squares for afghans. My MIL gave me a lot of leftover yarn from years of projects -- mostly worsted, all acrylic, dozens of colors. I have enough crochet hooks and knitting needles to equip a small city. Now, if I can just teach myself how to crochet (or knit), and get this project started...
otter
P.S.: I also bought some how-to books that I think will help. I've made snowflakes before, and in a previous life I knitted a scarf. But it doesn't seem as easy to re-learn as riding a bicycle.
-
otter ~ Welcome! There are some here who've learned from books, and there are plenty of helpful videos around the web. I don't have the links for them, but someone will be along who will know.
I can tell you that the "squares" are 7x9, any pattern, any color, and washable yarn.
-
Artemis,
I received your squares.......thank you, thank you, thank you.....they are wonderful and thank you for the something extra.
Big hugs,
Madison
-
Otter,
If you need some simple crochet or knit patterns, please let me know so I can get them to you.
I'm glad you are joining us and let me know if I can be of any help.
Hugs, Madison

Ladies,
I was actually able to sit and work on an afghan last night without falling asleep within 15 minutes of sitting down. I think I've finally recovered from my 4 weeks in Georgia. I will have an afghan ready to be mailed early next week.
I am heading back up to Georgia on April 1st through April 4th to visit that grandson again. DH will be home so he will look for any packages that may be delivered while I am gone.
Thank you all so very much
-
BTW -- Congratulations, grandma!

Madison ~ I'm glad the squares got there! I hope the borders are ok; I've never done them before, so please do let me know if there's anything I need to change. Not saying that I CAN change, lol, but I will try.
-
Artemis,
The squares were perfect. I even rearranged the afghan I am working on to incorporate some of your squares.
Hugs,
Madison
-
Oooo! I'm excited!! And I'm relieved to know my borders are ok! Thanks a bunch, Madison.
-
Just popped in to let y'all know I am well and think of you. 3 more weeks of taxes and then I can have a life again. Woo hoo!! I think I have knit 5 squares this entire month.
-
Hi, Donna! You need a sign over your desk: "I'd rather be knitting."
Ladies, I was working on squares last night, and my 4-year-old niece wanted to "sho-shay". I gave her a hook and some yarn, sat her in my lap and held her hands to "help" her chain 10 and do a row of double crochet. After that, I went back to my own work while she sat beside me with hers. I didn't expect it to hold her interest, but she loved it! She sat for at least 20 minutes wrapping and pulling yarn all kinds of ways. She is certain that she's making a green blanket and is already planning for the next one to be purple. Perhaps when she's finished those projects, she'll help us with squares.
Have a good day!
Artemis -
Your story of your niece wanting to 'sho-shay' reminds me of a story of my great-nephew. When he was 2, he was playing with one of the large bendy straws that comes with large drink cups. He blew through it and it whistled, he declared 'play bo-bo' (oboe). His parents are band directors and his mother gives private oboe lessons. I haven't done any squares this year, I have been busy crocheting snowflakes, I have 3 dozen sold as soon as I can get them crocheted and stiffened. Right now I have 30 crocheted and washed ready for the stiffening and blocking process, a very sticky and time involved procedure.

purple ... box is on its way ... should be there thursday or if lucky wednesday ... the 'squishies' should be taken out of their plastic bags ... and plenty of squares included
more squares in the works ... don't want to run out of squares !!!
-
Popping in quickly to again thank you all for your continued contributions. I presented an afghan to a local girl the day after her bilateral mastectomies. She cried happy tears she said. She said she could feel every one of you circled around her. She hasn't had the easiest time since getting home but has wrapped herself in our hugs.
I have another laid out ready to sew together and border. I hope to have it finished this week.
Hugs............
-

Sheila ~ that's so cute about your nephew and his "bo-bo".
Liz ~ thanks for letting us know about the new recipient.
MB ~ not only is my niece's square not square, it's not much of anything except a bunch of yarn on a hook. I told Mr. Artemis is looked sort of like a yarn lollipop, heehee! If she ever does make anything remotely useable, I'll send it right along to you...
Have a great day, everyone! I'm going yarn shopping this afternoon ~ whee!! -
Hello one and all,
This hugaghan was sent out Saturday........................
Thank you all so very much!!!
-
Madison ~ that is so pretty! That squares with the ribbon and the popcorn heart are lovely. I see a square or two that look like they might be mine?! If so, how exciting to see them! If not, well, it's exciting anyway because the whole thing is so beautiful!

Unfortunatley I didn't make it to the sale last week. I was preparing for the annual Carolina conference women's retreat and our church was in charge of the classes and crafts.
-
Well, that's a great reason to miss the sale! I hope you enjoyed the retreat and that the ladies enjoyed your craft classes.
