I will have a box ready to go out Monday or Tuesday. Some are bordered but I officially used up all my black yarn so the rest are unbordered. Liz, I guess I will send them to you. Keep up the good work girls! It's getting SOOO cold outside I am sure there are lots of sisters who still need a hugaghan. We drove thru snow on the way home from Pittsburgh Friday......
-
Donna, thanks for bordering what you could. I so appreciate your continued support and contribution! It is getting cold and unfortunately we do have a list of names.
Hugs.....
Thanks Vickie.

Hello lovely ladies -
Just wanted to forward an email that I received from one of your hugaghan recipients.
Dana is a single Mom who is about to undergo a stem cell transplant.
"Today I received the most amazing gift -- the afghan that Valerie arranged for. It is phenomenal. I'm in awe that the women made the afghan for a stranger and the love that went into it. Please tell Valerie how much I appreciate it. The afghan is going on my rec room sofa right now"!
Dana
On a personal level - I just wanted to thank you all for the hard work, dedication and love you put into each and every square.
You ladies ROCK!
Love ya,
Valerie

Val, I'm glad to know Dana's box of hugs arrived safely. I too love this project. Blessings to everyone who helps and MB - you are awesome. Hope your day is better. Talk with you soon.
Love you guys!
-
It's so nice that Dana received one! Best wishes to her with treatment and beyond.
-
Val,
Please give Dana gentle hugs from all of us......
I'm glad her hugaghan arrived and will bring her warmth and comfort
-
Hi sisters. Liz, just wondering of the box of squares I shipped on Nov 30 has arrived.
-
Donna I haven't received anything yet.
-
Donna I got them today. Thank You!
-
I want to try to join this project, please. I can crochet but not knit. If someone (Madison? Liz?) would send me a PM telling me what's expected, I'd appreciate it!
There is some beautiful work here, ladies!
-
Ellie, thank you...I received you box of wonderful squares.
I do have an afghan finished and ready to mail. The packaging boxes I ordered came in the mail so I'll be able to send the hugaghan to it's new home.
Artemis, Welcome!! We would love to have you join us. I'll send you some instructions to help you get started on the project.
Thank you everyone......I know we are making a difference in the lives of our sisters.
I actually met a woman today who received a hugaghan while going through chemo. She gave me the biggest hug and had a beautful smile on her face. Both she and her husband would like to thank all of you for the beautiful afghan. Her husband said she sleeps with it every night.
Hugs, Madison
-
Madison -- awwwww, that is a sweet story. The afghans are beautiful, I know anyone would appreciate being wrapped in love.
Liz -- the mailmen are going crazy. Yesterday they delivered our mail to my neighbor's house and we got no mail. Today the neighbor left my mail at my door and the UPS man left a box at my door that belonged to a different neighbor. Eventually we will get it all sorted out.
Artemis - hi and welcome. Have fun buying yarn. JoAnn.com has a yarn sale going on at the moment but I think it ends Thursday.
Stay well sisters...
-
i wanted to stop by and give you an update on sallie - our hugaghan got there before she went to the hospital for surgery and she and her dh were amazed and grateful ... surgeon was talking about having to do major rework on her insides .... but the chemo did an amazing job here is the update i just received:
********************
Hi,
Sallie called about 7:45 this evening, and she sounded really good. She said that she is feeling much better.
Here are the high points....
v She is getting the GI tube out tonight. She has had clear broth, and the intestine is "waking up"
v The Dr. said the one chemo treatment had shrunk the masses by half (she had never seen it work that quickly on others), and it made it much easier to see and remove the cancers.
v The the remaining chemo treatments will work on any remaining microscopic cancer cells..
v The intestine and bowel did not have to be resectioned. (The shrunken cancer could be scraped and cut away.)
v The Dr. is very optimistic, and told Sallie "start thinking about living!"
-
Thanks for the welcome! Madison ~ thanks for the instructions and tips; I'm working on my first square (why are they called squares when they're not?
) right this minute! Well, not REALLY right this minute since I'm typing, lol. Let's just say the first one is in progress!
Donna ~ thanks for the tip about the Joann sale!
-
Donna....yes the mailmen are going nuts, We've had some issues on our block. I'm sure they are working a lot.
jenni...wonderful news about Sallie. I'm glad her box of hugs arrived before her surgery.
Artemis....nice to meet you and welcome. I may have already said that to you but I have the memory of a straight pin head. I think we started calling the rectangles squares from the beginning. Not sure. Thanks so much for joining us.
Back to sewing rows together so I can get one ready to go out. Thanks you guys!
Hugs

Tip on the deal I got on some yarn, I went to AC Moore to get one of the unlabeled 1 lb bag of yarn with my 50% off coupon from their flyer. (that would have made the price around 3.00) They asked if I wanted to sign up for their rewards card (after spending 100 I would get a coupon for $10). Of course I said sure, after filling out the information and scanning the card, my price for the yarn came out to $2.00. I didn't realize that they discounted your first purchase using the rewards card!
I have a box ready to mail to Madison. I will take it tomorrow to the post office. I have to get my car inspected and tag renewed today!
