    Hi Ladies,

Patrice,  Don't worry, we are keeping your thread going because we can't get our acts together and we don't know why. And this is more fun than cleaning or doing other house stuff. Remember the 1 drawer that we were all suppossed to clean out by noon on Monday? Mine is still not done.

Sue,  Glad that the family reunion was good. And no one said anything REALLY stupid. WOW, I am proud of your family. Glad to hear that your son's probation got dismissed and that he is going off to join the girlfriend. He sounds soo cute, getting on the greyhound with his little husky dog. I hope that he makes out O.K. Congrats on your second to last chemo. REST.

Shirley,  You always make me laugh. I will have your Mint Julip ready for you when you arrive on the front porch of the plantation.

    Take Care All,

    Kerry

Hey Sue - I just posted on the moan and groan thread wondering where you are and then pop over here and there you are! I completely forgot about you going out of town (imagine that, me forgetting something!). Glad the reunion was good and you got pampered. You deserve it. You're son will be fine. It will be tough when he leaves, but it's good for them and us. Both of my girls have been out on their own at various times and I missed them but was glad they could take care of themselves. Figured it showed I must of taught them something right! My oldest bought her own house last year and moved out for good. My youngest is getting married next March and will be moving out for good then. Well, I keep my fingers crossed that everything works out for them and the moves are permanent, LOL!

Shirley - Good to see you back. You're also being looked for on the other thread. Hate to hear that the kids hit the road again, but at least they stayed in the States this time. That's got to ease your mind some. On the positive side, you can now relax and put all that crazy cooking and cleaning behind you!

Kerry - Forgive me for laughing at your post. . .I think Sue's son is taking their greyhound dog with him, not going on the bus. Glad to hear you've not touched the drawers. I recently cleaned out my dh's drawers because I couldn't stand some of the shirts he was wearing. I tossed the worn out ones and found new ones in his sloppy drawers. He looks much better now, so I guess it was worth it.

Patrice - Good to see you. Hope things ease up for you soon.

I'm going to spend today getting things together for a weekend at the lake. Thank goodness there's a Walmart close to our house down there, cuz I always forget things!

patrice, I think this thread will be going for a good long while.  I finally got a light bulb changed in my kitchen that burned out two weeks ago.  Then I tried a new recipe for macaroons.  It's a winner!

Get cookbooks from the library ladies.  It'll put a cattle prod under your butt to try something new. Or not.  LOL  I'd better look to see when that book is due.  I've had to pay overdue fees twice this summer because I didn't keep my act together enough to remember the duedate.  I found two vegan cookbooks with recipes I actually like.

    Shirley

I had three visual fields tests done when they mis diagnosed me with a pituitary tumor....about 5 or 6  years ago.  They were fine, so I am hoping that this ophthalmologist (thanks for the correct spelling, I THOUGHT it was ophth...but I am lazy and left out the h...!) is wrong, but I after I get this hysterectomy, I will have to go and see yet another ophthalmologist, to get a definitive answer... only the dr. I want to see is in SC and I'm not allowed to go there.  IF I go back to my pcp dr., and get more referrals, I can go to another dr. in NC, but I am not sure if they will agree to see me, either... they are not 'in network'.  What a crappy insurance plan I have!!

My right eye feels 'weird', and sore sometimes, but my dh says that there would be no symptoms with glaucoma.

I am so tired of all this, and I just can't take anymore stuff happening!  So maybe I'll just stop going to the drs...

Good to hear from you.  Hope you are doing good.

WOW!  Everyone showed up and left so quick, I didn't even get time to say HI and wave at you all!

{{Harley}}  I'm so sorry we all have to deal with this insurance/doctor crap!  IT's just disheartening to try and get answers :(

Not sure what I've updated on, so I'll do that in a bit.  Dbro and his gf from Phoenix just left.  Were here for a full 24 hours and I'm pooped! :(  Nappy time! :)

    {{hugs}} to you each!

It's really nice to "see" everyone again.  Well, some are missing, but it is summer.  Some people have a life.  Like Sheila...

Yeah, you, Sheila.  How dare you have fun and go to the lake.  I think I'll make my dh take me for a ride at the beach.  I'd love to see if anymore million + dollar homes have been built since the last time I was there.  I dunno..that could be a bit depressing.  But, the fishy air at the beach is ALWAYS so refreshing!

Kerry, it would be very wise of you NOT to bring me a Mint Julip.  I'm loopy enough.  How 'bout a nice tall glass of sweet southern iced tea?  If you must insist on the Julip only put a teaspoon of bourbon in it. Laughing

Althea, it would pay you to go on Amazon and buy used cookbooks.  By the time you have to pay all those over due fees you could buy a book. LOL

Wish, I can understand being pooped after 24 hours w/company.  It's not like we sit on our butts.  Cooking is always expected unless you're smart enough to go out and eat or call in for a pizza.  Tonight it's gonna be some easy.  Shrimp stir fry.

Hello, Harley.  Now, I'm going to tell on Harley.  We had lunch together the other day.  She's SOOOO cute.  Petite little thing.  And her hair has grown out and it's adorable.  And she's got a tan.  AND, don't feel soory for her....she wears a size 4!  Can you believe that?  A size 4!  I liked her hair when it was just growing out..very short.  But I love it now.  She's a hotty!

Well, I had my act together today.  Did the dishes.  AND did my nails.  How 'bout them apples!  No REAL cleaning for me.  Cool

    Take care!

    Shirley,

You are too nice!  It was so nice to see you again!  You're SO sweet!  And, even though you say that you don't have your act together, you ALWAYS look so very nice, and very together!  You are very pretty, and you're so nice, I always love seeing you!

I am so glad to have met you!

    Hi Ladies,

Sheila,  I went back and had to re-read Sue's post and then I was laughting soo hard that I scared the DD. He is taking the greyhound dog with him and the little Huskey too. I thought it sounded too cute, him taking the greyhound bus and the little Huskey dog too. I had a picture of him getting on the bus with the Huskey on a leash, beside him on the bus going to meet his girlfriend. Now that I think about it only "working dogs" can go on the bus with you and be beside you. That is too funny. Thankx for clearing that up.LOL, LOL,LOL.

Shirley, O.K. You can have a nice tall glass of southern iced tea on the porch of the plantation or the sanitarium. Which ever one we can get for free. See you there.

Harley,  Sorry to hear that you have eye problems now. You do not need any more stuff.

Hi Wish,  Have a good nap.

Althea,  Any good salad cookbooks that you can recommend. I have to loose this last 10 lbs SOON!!!!

Back to work on Saterday for 6 days in a row. I will be pooped after. I need to win the lottery, SOON!!!  I don't know why I volunteered for 6 days in a row. Obviously I do not have it together or I would not have done that.

    Hey guys,

Sam got his probation dismissed,  So now he's ready to go, packing his car, even though we are trying to get him to see sense and not leave until the 29th or so so he can not pay rent until then..but he's nineteen and still knows everything, so we'll see how that goes.  I understand he wants to see dear gf but hey, use some of that common sense God gave ya...

My SIL is coming today, I went out of town last weekend and the suitcase I took is still lying open onn my bedroom floor..one has to walk past it to get to the only shower in the house...I had chemo day before yesterday and feel like crap-ola this morning, but I have to clean just a little, because I am having company this afternoon and for the next few days. I will only pick up the suitcase, do some laundry, vacuum and clean the bathrooms.  I promise.  Can I get a special dispensation so my SIL doesn't think I'm trashy?

If not, stop me before I start!!

    Love,

    Sue

    Deb,

I think it's good if you no longer care.  That means it no longer bothers you that your house is however it is, it just is.  (If you stayed with me through that sentence).  I cleaned one bathroom, my son and dh did the rest, and I came after them and did the surface, you know how men just don't get the grace notes of cleaning?  So, house is presentable, SIL is on the way, and I don't have to cook dinner, because dh has plans to cook for us all.  YEAY!!  And, I feel better, nausea-wise, finally. I did have to take a pain pill for the neulasta pain but oh well. Amazing how much better those things make me feel.  Guess I better be careful with them, huh....

Thanks for the hugs today, needed them badly and they got me through.

    Love,

    Sue

Sue, it depends on your personality and how long you are on them too as how careful you need to be!  Remember the laxative of sorts though, I heard they can wreck havoc with the bowels! :(

On the other hand, yes, they can hurt you in another way too!  You feel well enough you think you can empty pools and mow and do other things!  Be careful with that also, as you won't feel better after that starts to cause problem, that a pain pill can fix!  Enjoy it otherwise! :D

{{Deb}} If you are okay with the house, then by dang, everyone else, should put up (clean it themselves) or shut up about it! :D  I was 'going to clean' when dbro and his sis were coming, and I thougth why?  If they judge me by my housecleaning, then they might as well learn to enjoy the 'new and improved' normal for me! MESSY and Just don't give a hoot ME! :)

Shirley, I've never enjoyed my nails so much as since chemo started!  I was all prepared to lose them with my hair and I swear, they've never been healhier!  I've cut them more in the last 6 months, than in 3 years previous.  They grow like my weeds outside!  On nothing! :D  Pretty in pink too!  Or mauve really :)

Kerry, kerry, kerry?  You volunteered?  Are you nutty woman, or just enjoy pain?  Ugh!  I came close to it, but finally came to my senses! :D

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

Wish, my fingernails nor toenails every gave me problem during chemo.  Just a little discoloration that I covered up with a sorta white polish stuff from Sally Hansen and it was supposed to help nails.  My cuticles look terrible. I need to use cuticle cream ALL the time.

What's a clean house.  Heck, sometimes I'm so lazy I take a paper towel and wipe up drips instead of mopping.  And I used to ALWAYS keep my floors clean.  Sue, I've already told you on the other thread you're not supposed to clean toilets.  That's what I was told, but I did clean them and used a mask and gloves (which I always use for toilets).  And, Sue, when did 19 year olds begin thinking their parents were wiser than them?  He's in L-O-V-E!

Deb, you shoule never feel badly about your house.  Have the dh and kids pick it up for you.  Most of the time if we just "pick it up" and maybe run the vaccum it looks okay.  I haven't had anyone come over with white gloves. LOL  And who cares anyway.  They (whoever "they" is) knows you're going through chemo.  No one really offered to clean my house.  I don't blame them!

Don't plan to get my act together today.  We're supposed to go to dh's brothers tomorrow for the July 4th we missed.  I do have to make a couple of dishes.  Think I may make the chocolate cake tonight.  On the other hand, I might eat some..maybe I better wait.

    Have a nice evening.

HA!  Shirley, you remind me of mom!  Everytime she brings my favorite apple pie she makes down for a birthday or whatever, she brings two!  Only b/c she knows she'll test one before bringing it! :D  One always has a small slice missing!  I love her for it!  Thanks for the chuckle!

The nails and chemo? I didn't noticed till @ a month after chemo that I had ridges running the length of them.  subtle, but they were there.  Scared me b/c I thought it was a sign of heart disease or something...but my heart is fine. :)THey are still growing like weeds!  Time to cut them again!

    Wish,

You and your weeds, there you go again!

I haven't had trouble with my nails yet except I always, always kept them nice and all of a sudden I don't care.  I do go over them with an emery board every day or so but haven't manicured them in three weeks or so--that is unusual for me. I have the kind  of nails that I need to keep some  kind of polish on them or they get fragile--otherwise, if I keep them polished, they are long and strong. Maybe that's my new goal for this weekend. Just do my nails.

Have to make something for potluck for church tomorrow--I think I will make that carrot cake again, although I know we will have some for dessert tonight!!

Hope everybody has a good night and good sleep later.

    Hi Ladies,

Now I know that I really do not have my act together. I am working 6 days in a row.My last day to work is Thursday and me and the DH are having our annual BBQ party on Saterday and it is getting larger and larger. We have rented the Community Hall next door and at last count I think we have about 60 people coming. Yes, 60!!! I cannot believe it!!! I need to call the cleaning lady who was just here on Thursday and ask if she can come and clean the main floor of my house on Friday. It is bring a lawn chair and a dessert and your own booze. Should be a blast. Shirley, you can bring the chocolate cake and Sue, you can bring the carrot cake, and the rest can bring what ever. I work best under pressure. And being back to work, I feel better. I can focus on other people and when I am home I just dwell too much on my problems and get too sad. Getting back to work lets me regain a little bit of my life back. And I love being outside in the nice weather. And also my house looks cleaner when I have been away all day, as I am not sitting around looking at the mess and the piles of papers and bills . But, no more pools for sure. That just about did my chest in. OUCH.

Wish me luck, as I will be going NUTS on Friday.

Wish,   I am not Wonderwoman, I am Crazywoman and will be crazier as the week goes on. DH has rented a Hugh BBQ and ordered 30 chickens. The SIL is helping and we are going to BBQ beer can chickens or in this case COKE can chickens, Baked potatoes, and Greek Salad. Yes, you are all invited and I will share my cleaning lady if there is anything left of her as the DH wants to hire her to clean up the Community Hall after the BBQ. I had better call her tomorrow. We are also going to do a pinata for the kids, so I also have to go and buy all of that stuff too. No wonder why I am broke and tired. It was a lot of fun last year and I am going to enjoy myself this year. I'll keep ya posted.

Wish, I didn't sample the cake.  But it did turn out good.  I had a small piece.  And, darn, wouldn't you know I broke a darn fingernail.  I got out of the bath, was putting on my undies, and broke a nail.  You know, after getting them wet their a little softer.  I was so mad at myself.  So, now my "birdie" finger has a broken nail!  I hate when that happens!

Sue, the carrot cake sounded scrumptious.  My dh used to make those.  He hasn't made one in years.  I should make one when I have company to eat it.

Kerry, you can keep the cleaning woman if you just give me a little bit of your energy.  I'm so glad that working is WORKING for you.  It sounds like you're really going to have fun come Friday.  You are definitely a crazy woman!  I think crazy women are the best kind of women to be around.

Nite all.  Oh, and I'm still not getting my act together.  Anyone want to bring their paint brushes and rollers and come paint?  My dh wants no part of it!

Kerry -- Sounds like a good time! We just had a bunch to our lakehouse this weekend and did a shrimp boil. It was only about 15 people though, not 60!

Shirley -- I broke the nail on my "birdie" finger this morning too! I've been having a lot of problems with my nails splitting lately. Don't know what's up with it because they are usually very strong.

Sue -- Someday he'll look back and think "Mom was right" but it won't be anytime soon! LOL! I'll be keeping him in my thoughts as he makes his way up there.

Must say that although my house is a wreck and I can't seem to get myself together, I did have a small touch of my "old, normal" life back this weekend. We spent it at the lake and had some family and a bunch of the dd's friends down (bodies sleeping everywhere, good thing they're young!). I didn't go out on the lake during the day because I can't get in the water thanks to my wound and it was way too hot to just sit on the boat. But some of us took it out later when it was cooler and I did the driving. It felt so good, just like before all this other crap came into my life. Somehow, it made me know that all this will pass and I will enjoy those simple things again. Felt good.

Wish, uh-huh....good excuse for not bringing a paint brush.  It's too hot to work OUTSIDE.  Then, on the other hand, you not in the South.  Man, it was hot and humid yesterday.  Whoever invented the air conditioner system (and heating) is a genius!

Sheila, it's really nice to hear that you felt "normal" if for only a weekend.  And those young kids who sleep on floors seem to keep us young.  It's really a nice feeling to have them around (occasionally).  Just think, there's be many more times you'll be going back to the lake and having those wonderful times.

    Hi Ladies,

Shirley, I can come and help you paint but my DH has told me that I CANNOT paint because I do not do it properly. So now I just hire a painter. He is an old hippie, but he has a great eye for colours and has picked out every colour in my house. I just tell him what I have in mind and he picks the colour and he is right on every time.  I'll see if he can come and help you paint.

Sheila,  Glad that you had a good time at the lake. It is nice to feel NORMAL again. I am going to feel NORMAL again on Saterday. Being back at work helps me to feel NORMAL again. The lake is a great place to be. I just love the lake, and summer. The winter was long and crappy and I am glad that it is over.

I am really envying you guys in the northern part of the country.  It is SO hot and dry in Texas, I go from the air-conditioned house to the air-conditioned car and the grass is sere and brown and I kind of feel that way too and my heat tolerance is ZERO.  I would love to feel some 80 degree weather instead of this incessant low 100's by the end of the day and too hot to do anything outside!! I don't think it's helping with my attitude!

I promise I will try not to whine so much tomorrow.

    Off to bed early.

Well, the chemo nails are ended! I finally butchered them down!  Nearly completely as I too, broke NOT one, but 3 today!  The road crew is coming through on wednesday to widen the road, so I had dh help me dig up the daffodils that were naturalized in the lawn out front!  Oh my! I put them in many years ago!  What a gas finding them!  We looked like animals out there, digging and of course, I forgot to grab my gloves as normal and broke three nails going through the roots of a bush nearby while searching for more bulbs! :(  Only found about 60 :(  Oh well....

Sue, it's okay to whine....just remember to add cheese and crackers and you'll be all set! :D

Hope everyone sleeps well tonight! :D

Kerry, I'll probably have to find someone cheap to hire.  My nephew is not very busy right now.  He does drawings for my BIL who's an architect who's not very busy right now either.  Well, that makes sense.  If BIL is not busy enough to give work to his son (nephew), then...Oh, forget it!

Sue, I'm originally (I say "originally" cuz that's where I grew up until I left in about '66) from Texas and I KNOW how hot it is there.  Well, it's just as hot her in N.C. AND humid.  I have to turn the AC way down while I get ready to go anywhere or I'm sweating off my newly applied makeup, and my newly done hair goes limp!

Wish, don't you just hate it when you break a nail/s after trying to get them ALL the same length.  Now it looks like my middle finger has been nipped off.  You are amazing!  Digging, weed whacking, mowing, doing all kinds of outdoor stuff AND cleaning.  I think we should put a chain and ball on you so you can't work.  I wish WISH would come over here and get my ACT TOGETHER!

I think Kerry is the smartest one!  Shirley?  You think I do a lot, but it's only out of necessity, b/c if I don't do it, no one will.  He's gone all but 34 hours a week now with this new run, and it's stuff that has to be done.  This week, b/f the BIG dozers come in and take up 13 feet of the right of way :(  Kerry has it right though!  If I didn't do it right, he probably would hire it done, or worse, do it himself.  I'm particular about my painting and won't let DH do it! :D

As for the fingernails. All I can say, is chemo did me right with my nails!  I've never EVER grown them so long, so fast, and furious in all my life.  If you knew what I'd had them in the last 3 months with garden and cleaning after this long winter of treatments, you wouldn't have believed I'd kept them.  I'd love to come help you 'get it together', but first I have to figure how to do it myself.  I do things so haphazardly now, it's ridiculous!  Bet I have 30 jobs started, and none finished as of yesterday.  Just can't seem to remember what I was doing, or why sometimes! :D

I hate when he leaves so early in the morning!  It wrecks my already messed up sleep.  Told him this morning, he needs to find a job that he can sleep in more than one morning a week :(  Although we are up at 5 most days off too.  Odd ducks, but we enjoy waking up before the sun.....my problem is I am a nightowl so I'm get behind on real sleep, and you just can't make it up.

Okay...rambling as the birdies are serenading...getting lighter out....it's nice and cool 62!  Wish it would stay that way day though.  Your 90 is too hot for me...nothing grows, but is stagnant in that weather, including me!  Had pumpkins rot on the vine be/c of it :(

Okay, off to survey the gardens.  Have a terrific tuesday ladies! :D
