No, Patrice, I'm not sorry for asking.  I enjoyed reading that they actualy work!  LOL  Then, how come they can't get anything done!?  Yes, I know, the dems against the repubs.

I tried to find you today on C-Span.  You need to tell us what you wear each day.  I was looking for someone with dirty undies.  Sealed

I am impressed that you have such an important job.  And, yes, I can understand you do feel blessed.  I can't imagine being right in the middle of all those politicians.  Like I told Hanna on the other board referring to something about politics...I'd go postal!  And, it's legal to have a weapon in D.C. now!

I bet you are beat when you get home.  No wonder you can't get your act together.  I'd hate the part about not being able to at least plan doctor's appointments.  I hate going to them, but it is necessary once in a while.  Heck, I bet the Senators keep their doc's appointments.

Glad you checked in.  Don't work too hard!

PATRICE!  You did wear a skirt or slacks with those, didn't you? :D  Shirley, You are too funny!

AND YES!  Patrice, I think you need to give us your itenerary daily with what you are wearing so we can find and watch you in action! :D  Very cool job! But glad too, that it's yours!  I'd forget what I was doing and be watching it all happen! :D

Patrice,  Wow, what a job. How exciting. I do not think that I could take the long hours and never knowing when you are going to get home. That would bother me. I need to know when the end is in sight. Hope you find some clean undies. Or, you could just buy some new ones. To be that close to Teddy Kennedy. I just love the Kennedys. I would be star struck and not get any work done as my mouth would be open and I would be mesmerized at all the Senators. Another one of my trips that I want to do is to see the White House. When I was a child traveling with my parents we went to Washington D.C. I hope that they pay you well. You deserve it.

    Good morning, girls.

Shirley, I work around people who do important stuff...my job isn't one of the "important" ones. Trust me.

Wish:  I didn't work on the floor yesterday, so it wasn't me.  I'm usually in my office working and go to the floor periodically.  There are 4 of us who rotate weeks as to who has to go down there and then it's just for an hour or two.  I may or may not have to go down there this week.  I'll let you know.  There's a possibility when we go back into session the second week of September that I'll be down there quite a bit for the 2nd and 3rd week of September.  Next time I go down to the floor, though, I'll post it here and let you know when I'm going and what I'm wearing.

Kerry:  Senator Kennedy is one of the nicest guys there.  Most people will tell you that (from both sides of the aisle).  He's a real "regular" guy, very gracious, who does a lot of acts of kindness for people.  When it was announced he was ill, it was crushing.  He's one who works well with the other side, which is exactly what a lot of Republicans said when they got up to give speeches wishing him well...and it's true.  He truly does devote each day of his working life to helping the poor.  I've long been amazed at how passionately he "gets" what it means to be poor...in spite of being born into a privileged life.  He does so much behind the scenes to help people.  He's amazing and I pray that his doctors are able to beat his cancer back so he can return to doing the work of the people.  None of us can take back our past...we can only hope to do better in the future, and he certainly has given back to society in immeasurable ways.

My heart breaks when I think of what he's going through right now.   I respectfully ask that no one in this thread say negative things about him....that's for the political threads.

Kerry, or any of you, please let me know if you travel to D.C.  I'd love to meet you all.

Good morning, girls.  I didn't mean to completely delete my previous post.  I was going to go in and change stuff.  I shouldn't talk on the phone and try to do board stuff at the same time.

Wish:  That wasn't me yesterday.  I'll let you guys know next time I'm down there and what I'll be wearing.  Usually I'm up in my office...and only have to go down there periodically.

Shirley:  Don't be impressed...and I'm not being humble....my job isn't one of the "important" ones.

Kerry:  Senator Kennedy is a really nice guy.  I pray that his doctors are able to beat his cancer back and that he's able to return to work.  He is loved by people on both sides of the aisle.

I'm late and haven't even showered...but I do have clean undies to put on today...so I have that going for me.  Yay!

    Patrice,

I was watching C SPAN but I didn't see you.  They were voting on a bill, and I heard all the votes but I forget what they were voting on now.  Gee, I can't remember SH*T!!

You'll have to tell us what you are wearing and show us an updated picture, so we will recognize you when you are there.

Patrice,  Glad to hear that Senator Kennedy is a "really nice guy". I hope that he does well with his treatment. He has had enough crappy stuff  in his life. Glad to here that you have clean undies.

    Good morning, girls:

Some of you have asked when I'll be on the floor...we do it on a rotation basis, so that's why you haven't seen me.  I may be down there today from 1:30 to 2:30, if we are still in session...but I'm hoping we will have adjourned by then.  If it looks like I'm going down there, I'll post and let you know.  Haven't figured out yet what I'm going to wear today.

When we go back into session after the August recess,  I may be down there quite a bit (2 to 3 hours a day) the second and third week of September.  When we go back in September, I'll let you know.

Today is our last day there for the next 5 weeks.  Thank god.  I'm so exhausted can barely talk.  Didn't get home until 1 a.m. and have to jump in the shower now to get ready to go back.  Look forward to playing with all of you in August!

Very cool! both your break and that we'll be able to finally spot our very own celebrity! :D  Hope you get your wish and they are adjourned early today.  Is that be/c it's friday they'll be done early?

Hi, Wish:  LOL@celebrity.  Definitely NOT.  They're done passing what legislation and measures are going to be voted on this session...so today there will just be speeches wrapping it up.  So I'm hoping we could be out early, but it's hard to predict.  There may be a lot who wish to give some final thoughts for the record before going back to work in their states for the month of August.

It looks as though I will be down there today between 1:30 & 2:30 and 4:00 &  5:00 (if we're still in session).  Ironically, the other girl from my office who is also working down there today is wearing the exact same color as I am, but we will be down there at different times and she is African American and I am Caucasian...so there shouldn't be any confusion.  I'm wearing a cobalt blue jacket & skirt and will be sitting at the table in front of the dais (the left one as you face the dais.)   I sit in the chair all the way to the left.  I look the same as I do in my av.  Hair is pretty much the same...except today I'm having an exceptionally bad hair day.

     Okay...back to work for me.

BE watching for you!  Smile, k? :D  Hm...we need a sign now...so we know you are thinking of us...how bout the old carol trick?  Little tug on the  ear? :D

I'm already back from the floor.  I only had to stay down there about 20 minutes because after this speaker they're probably going to recess, so I didn't need to stay.

    Patrice,

Darn it, I missed you again. What good is it knowing a star if I keep missing her? ;-)

One of these days one of us is going to record you and put it on youtube so we can all witness you in action.

I've been missing you. It's nice to have the little, occasional postings, but I need more. Please take care of that ASAP. :P

I'll be praying for Senator Kennedy... you know him far better than I and if you say he's a nice guy, then I know he is a nice guy. :-)

A happy, non-cleaning weekend to all.

    Miss S

Okay...2 thinks I have to admit to today :(

    1)  I missed Patrice too! Actually I fell asleep before it came on :(  After lunch, was working outside this morning in that HEAT and well.....nappy time just happens when I read on a full tummy after working out there in the summer!  Spring too.  Oh and fall also! :D

    2)  I HAD to sweep today!  After lunch I realized I'd forgotten to remove my garden tennies and UT OH!  They had dirt in them and I left trails to the potty room, the entire kitchen and the entry way.  So yes... I swept! :(  SORRY LADIES!

Surprised Forgot to share!  I made the editorial in the local news yesterday!  :D  Well.....I did, but not my name really!  The old folks place across the street was thanking the community for their help when they had their fire and mentioned.....drum roll please.............. "The lady across the street who brought over blankets for our seniors"  Of course then they listed, the fire, police and EMT departments too :D

So.... I had my minute to fame...albeit with out my name mentioned!  I don't even get the local paper, but the neighbors brought it over to me the next night with their paper. :D  They said they didn't need a name, they knew it was me, so I had 2 witnesses! :)

wish, sorry you didn't get your name in the paper!!!  You are forgiven for sweeping.  I have been sewing (quilting) yesterday and today and have left a MESS in the living room which I don't feel like cleaning up because I have been told to sit with my swollen feet/ankkles/lower legs up and do nothing physical today (that was my  husband's order for me)................so I ain't cleaning.  Maybe tomorrow if I feel like it, I'll clean up afer myself.

    Aren't you proud of me?

Very proud of you!  I was actually GLAD they didn't use the name.  They really didn't need to even do the little note, as they had said thank you that night.  BUT....the darn place had a barbecue for the pts and family and employees today!  And the barbecue was right across the street from the drive, so when I got home starved, all I could see was smoke again!  I felt my heart race as it sunk again, thinking, OH NO!  Then opened the car door and instantly was starving!  They could have brought a meal over as THANKS! Wink  BUT NOoooooooo! Frown

Yes, very proud, but more so, that your DH said for you NOT to do anything!  Does he have a brother?  My dh came home tonight from being gone since monday at 6 am and asked why I hadn't re-stained the shed and arbors! Yell I was especially nice to him and didn't answer...thus saving another arguement! :D

    Wish,
He doesn't have a brother.  And he''s not always this good. I bought an old armoire and converted it to an entertainment cabinet--did some really nice carpentry on the inside, and when I unveiled it to him, (as yet unstained inside, I've taken care of that now) he said "It would look a lot better if it was stained".  Not "Wow, you did a great job on that carpentry!!"

Ankle swelling is much better this morning. Not gone, but much better.

Hope everyone has a nice Sunday.

patrice, I think you deserve awards just for hanging onto a job like that after bc.  You shouldn't have to do anything at home beyond plopping yourself into a recliner and someone should bring your dinner to you.  You're gonna get yourself kicked off your own thread!  I don't know how you could possibly keep up with hours like that.

I did not clean.  I was going to clean the kitchen, but it got up to 107 degrees here today, and I went grocery shopping in the middle of the afternoon.  When I got home, I was so tired I put the cold stuff away, laid down on the couch "just for a minute" and slept until  8:30!!  My husband came home from a trip and woke me up, and I said i was getting up to clean the kitchen and he said this: "I am off tomorrow, let me do it."  So, I said, "Okay" and "Thanks" and "You are such a good husband" and "Come here and give me a big smooshy kiss".

That was way better than having a clean kitchen.

Awwwwwwwww  What a sweetie!  Sounds like a keeper for sure! :D Spent yesterday, cooking and getting stuff bought and made for his week on the road again. He did help by watching the grill.  I've found that doing the meats he takes on the grill really cuts down on the heat in the house with this 90 degree heat and humidity!  UGH.  I can't believe they are saying 70's for next weekend!  YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I'm so pumped! I have SOooooooooooooooo much to do that I just can NOT do in this stifling heat!  Even this morning with 61 outdoors, sitting on the patio, I was having hot flashes at 4:30 am! :(  Hate this!  I really enjoy my gardens, but I will NOT miss this heat!  At least with snow with you bundle up and warm up.  With this heat, you just can't cool off with hot flashes! :(

Patrice,  I don't get C-span so I will never get to see our celebrity in action. Your long hours are crazy. Do you have a long drive to work? That sounds like way too much for me.

Wish,  Your gardens must look beautiful, but please remember to rest. Another celebrity, that got mentioned in the local paper. Congrats!!!! I am going to be a celebrity too if I get one more speeding ticket. I received my notice in the mail, one more ticket and I will get called into the Ministry of Transportation office for a little talk. More like, you do not talk and someone yells at you and asks you why they should not take away your driving license.  I had better slow down.

Sue,  Your DH sounds like a doll. What a sweetheart. How is your son doing?

    Hi, all.

Kerry, yes, it takes about an hour and 15 minutes to an hour and a half each way to work.  And trust me when I say you're not missing anything when I'm on.  I'm usually just sitting at a table writing.  It's pretty ho-hum and has no entertainment value.

Wish, Miss S, Althea and everybody else on here, yesterday I finished my work downtown and won't have to be back there until September...but for the next week or so I'm doing some other labor-intensive work on another project.   At least I can do it from home and will occasionally pop in.  After that, I'll have more time to catch up here.

A few minutes ago I took some fantastic to my keyboard.  It was so filthy, it looked as though the letter "T" was wearing a fur coat.  The letter "K" appears to have fuzzy caramel dripping down the side, but the letter "T" put me at my cleaning maximum so the caramel is going to stay.

    Patrice,

    You are my role model.

Kerry, He is a doll.  My son is doing great.  He is exactly where he is supposed to be.  Here's something funny that happened: You remember me telling you we had to send him to drug rehab a year ago April. Well, he went into a Walgreen's is Pittsburgh and they had a sign up "Pharmacy Tech Wanted".  So he asked the pharmacist about it, and the pharmacist said they usually hire a third-year college student and up for this job, but there was a written test and he was welcome to take it.  So, he took it and scored a 99!!!  How ironic is that?

I am exhausted, worked from 6a.m. to 5 p.m. today, but my LAST CHEMO is tomorrow!!!!

Hope everyone has a great evening

    Love,

    Sue

Geez, I haven't done anything so I have nothing to report.  The only thing I've done is the kitchen.  So, I CAN'T get kicked off.  After all we need dishes to eat off of.

Sue, CONGRATULATIONS on your last chemo tomorrow.  Oh, I remember that soooo well.  I was so happy to be done!  Never looked back..except when I have to go to the onc and wonder what the poor bald people are being treated for..what kind of cancer.  I go next month.  I am so happy for you.  Darn, girl, you work so hard and do chemo too!

Wish, I'm jealous of your "70 degree" weather that you are getting.  You know they had that little tropical storm in Texas.  Well, I was watching the weather and saw where it was cooling down some places.  My brother lives in San Antonio and it had been over 100 degrees.  Today it showed 91.  Sooo.....I called him and said, I understand a cold front has moved in to your part of the country.  You have to know my brother..he roared..HOHOHOHO!  BUT, I don't want the snow either.

Patrice, I'll find you in September IF you are on the floor.  I do turn on CSpan every so often.  But darn, they don't pan the camera to the people sitting at the desks.  So, it's hard to tell who's who anyway.  I hope you get time off to enjoy some of this heat.  AND, I do not envy your drive to work.  My dd had to drive from Virginia (right near the airport) to Maryland to the Marriott Corporation.  She's they gyspy one.  I don't think she'll EVER do that again.  Until they run out of money. LOL

    Good nite..it's almost morning.

    Hi Ladies,

Patrice,  That drive is too long after the hours that you put in. Talk about exhausted!!!! Have a nice long rest.

Sue,  Congrats on your last chemo. What a trooper you are, working through chemo. I don't think that I could have done that.  Too funny about your son, getting 99 on the test at the drugstore.

Shirley,  Glad to hear that you have not left us and become a domestic goddess and are cleaning and vacuuming and stuff. We all need to just relax. The dirt can pile up until the end of summer.Clean dishes are a necessity, just like clean undies. So there is a certain amount that we can do out of need, but don't do any extra.

I am working like a crazy woman. Too many days, but I am trying to work now so I can go on vacation the last week of August. Have a cottage rented in Maine on the ocean. Love it there. Then I will take the first week of Sept. off also to get the DD back in school and go to the beach on the nice days. This summer is going by so fast. It needs to slow down.

    Kerry

Kerry, PLEASE don't talk about Maine.  My dh was born there.  Yep, he lived there for 6 months. LOL  Anyway, he had grandparents and aunts in Maine.  He said it was beautiful.  He USED to tell me he was going to take me there.  I haven't been there yet...LOL

My dh came up with the bright idea of having pancakes, eggs and sausage tonight.  So, I made pancakes from the Cracker Barrel mix and the other stuff and stuffed myself.  That's my whole day's worth of work.  Well, I did clean the litter box.  I am becoming WORTHLESS!

We had a very little storm.  It knocked out our electricity for about 45 minutes.  And our cable is STILL out.  They should pro rate our cable when we lose it!

Well, I suppose it's time for bed.  I'm so tired from working so darned hard today.

    Shirley,

You are not worthless. You made pancakes, eggs and sausage tonight. Me and DD had pizza at Gramma's house as I was working all day and so was the DH and I had to take the DD to her swimming lessons after work. You also cleaned out the litter box. That is plenty for one day. In my old smaller house I used to clean the kitchen up and do the dishes by hand (no dishwasher, boy was I NUTS) and sweep the kitchen floor everyday. Now I am lucky if I get the kitchen cleaned up and the dishwasher loaded and cannot sweep the floor at all. I don't even have my act together to do that. No time to do these things.

    Take Care,

    Kerry
