I too will go to the "Paint the Square". I have been to that outdoor mall before. It is new and nice. Not like I will be shopping though. So I too will buy my tix thru the website.
Maybe we should try to get adjoining rooms.?
2 weeks from tonite we will have all met face to face!
-
Kjbell.. have you not gotten your room yet?
-
I am a Vegas local, if someone wants to PM me about stuff. I don't have any connections on shows, but I know there are places that sell tickets last minute at reduced rates. The hotels need the business - yes our economy is bad right now!
I'm so excited that you gals are going to the Paint the Square Pink event. Some gals had pink boas in the pics from last year. Not sure if that was something they gave out????
Ok, so I love Facebook too! I love that I can check it from my crackberry and I can check this site as well!
-
I do not think I even own a lil hottie dress. Will you still let me come to the nightclub?
-
I'm waiting to hear back from Packergirl who had booked a room. I think someone named Claude was thinking of coming and was in need of a room too. Maybe I will just crash each nite on the floor of someones room? lol??? Should I bring a blow up mattress?
-
kjbell -- Look at the first page and the list of rooms. Tracey put you in a room with packergirl.
-
My sister lives near Vegas and has family there. The word from them is that the night clubs are alot of times a couple hour wait. Especially during the weekend. Just giving you guys a heads up. She called one about getting a reserved table and the price they gave her was 300 for 6 people. I guess it comes with drinks too, but I decided that was just a little silly for me.
Hopefully Tracy and her crew can find something better.

Less than 2 weeks to go! I have so many things to do. I need to go out and buy some sun dresses that actually fit me! Gaining 20 lbs on chemo, etc. - I only have 2 pairs of jeans, 2 shorts, and 2 skirts that fit. I figured I would go to Goodwill and find something there since I do plan on losing weight eventually.
I can't believe we are getting so close to meeting up with one another! I have been telling my friends, the lady at the wig shop, etc. about how awesome it was that they are having Paint the Square Pink at the same time we are going to be there!
Oh....that reminds me....I need to purchase my ticket on-line! I am the worst procrastinator about doing these types of things.
I did get my carpet upstairs shampooed today....well that was enough for me to do in one day. I am already exhausted. Last night I was able to fall asleep at 11 pm without even taking a pill! That tells me my body is really run down right now.
Don't be surprised if I end up in the hotel room in the middle of the day taking a snooze! My last radiation appt is the day I get back from Vegas. Oh....what a wonderful thing to look forward to. Fly home and have to go straight to radiation.
-
Estepp - where are you? Here it is almost midnight and you are usually around! Missing you!
-
Hey Girl... I am here...:) it is almost 2am... I need sleep... we just got home from dh's gig... sooooooo many little kids there tonight.. a local Pizza place....
it was fun......Anwhooo.. I was checking in before drifting off to sleep... ...
-
Hey, all...
I've been swamped the last few days and haven't had time to stop in. Just getting home, so will try to catch up with some of you.
Thanks for your kind words are warm welcome.
The good news is - I'm committed! (to coming, that is) Bought some tickets out of Rockford arriving Friday at 1:25 and returning to Milwaukee on Monday at 12:31. I might switch my flight out if I can find a reasonable one with an earlier arrival time.
Speaking of commitment, Jim (my life partner, love of my life, best buddy in the whole world) is excited for me, but I can't help but think he must wonder why I so quickly committed to a bunch of gals I hardly know. (We've been living together for 23 years and whenever he asks me to marry him I tell him I need to get to know him a bit more first ; ) Hmmmm......
Estepp - I'll send my cell number your way. Thanks for compiling them!
Jancie - Thanks for the offer of bed space. Greatly appreciate it, but I can also just sleep on a sofa or roll away or floor if available. I do have these rock-hard coconut expander foobs right now, but have learned how to create a crevasse for them so I can sleep on my stomach. Even if I succeed in going to sleep on my back, I wake up on my stomach!
And, yes, I have books in the thousands also. I have bookshelves on many of my outside walls and justify that it not only saves money on the need for wall decorations but is great added insulation as well ; )
I will keep your offer under consideration if you don't mind, and see if there are others that perhaps are in need of a roommate to fill out their rooms
Regarding smoking, glad to hear of your consideration. I'm allergic - in enclosed environments my fingers and toes get tingly as a warning to me before my system shuts down and I pass out. No fun, and it has been known to cause attention that I would prefer not to have. I've learned over the years to stay out of such environments.
As far as your concern of confiscating your drugs, I too would be in a difficult situation if I didn't have mine - but for a different reason. I cannot take any types of narcotics, but I do need speed to stay awake. In 1996 I was diagnosed with an alpha-intrusion sleep disorder. Whenever I start to get into a deeper sleep alpha waves bounce be out of it, so I have only had shallow sleep ever since. Thus, I'm not rested and constantly tired. They can't give me anything to help me sleep on a deeper level, so they give me speed to stay awake. Without it I fall asleep three times faster than a narcoleptic (daytime and nighttime sleep studies confirm falling asleep within an average of 1 minute and 17 seconds. Even on the speed I can easily fall asleep instantly pretty much whenever I want (and sometimes when I don't want.) I bet between all of us we could start quite a drug store!
Tracy - Thanks for the greeting. Hope your walk is going well. Will gladly give you some belated body work. Ask and you shall receive.
Daisy - I know of Vicky, but don't know her. I hear her show occasionally, but she is on at a time that I don't usually listen to the radio. I must admit that I'm pretty addicted to Air America. Then of course there is Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion" and Michael Feldman's "Whad'Ya Know". I enjoy going to their broadcasts when I can. (btw: Did you hear that Garrison had a stroke this week? He's just released from Mayo, and is planning to start his new season in two weeks as scheduled.)
Firstmate - I'll stay tuned to see if you have a spot you need filled. And I, too, don't own a lil hottie dress. I think one time long long ago I had a few when I had a lil hottie body to put in them, but that was many moons ago - (and maybe I was just imagining the body, or looking cross-eyed or something...)
All - If there's anyone out there that has a less than full room and wants the cost to be divided in more ways, just let me know.
The beach is calling. Ta Ta for now...

The nightclubs are expensive. I don't know if the cost for a reserved table includes the alcohol. I've only done this once with friends (and I wasn't paying). I thought we had to buy a bottle of alcohol (at a ridiculous price) and the cocktail waitress mixed drinks at our table. I wanted to leave with the bottle, but they didn't allow that! Dumb! There are huge lines for the clubs, but I don't go to them anyway! I'm a home body (esp now)!
-
I'm happy just to sit around an yack at each other every night!! How many of you have purchased your paint the square ticket? I'm getting ready to buy mine!!
-
Jazzy - there are liquor stores walking distance to the major gambling places on the strip - we can buy our own booze and party up in one of the rooms for a heck of a lot cheaper. I will bring a wine opener with me.
I will be buying my ticket today for sure!
-
OK I'm all set got my paint the square ticket!!
-
Whirledpeas-I am in a room with, I believe, with only one other gal, packergal. It is fine with me to have another roomie. The more the merrier!
I have had this t/e in since my surgery last Nov. My last rads was mid-May. I was trying to wait 6 months before I had the switch, just because I want to do it once with no complications. However...I fell face first 3 weeks ago Tues. and I am scared I might have sprung a slow leak because I noticed today that the t/e is no longer rock hard!!!
Harrah's has an outdoor bar with a live band where you can eat, dance and/or drink. It is not expensive. One time the band played 70s and 80s songs, another time it was hard rock. Hard to talk because it is so loud, but I have always had fun there.
-
Ok, I guess I need to find a room! Anybody have room on the floor, lol?!?!?!
-
Firstmate responded back to you kjbell and said look on page 1 of this thread, you are in a room with Packergirl?
-
Kjbell- Lets discuss via PM. I sent you another PM today and I don't have a response from you yet. Please PM me.
Edited to add: Ladies- if you have room for kjbell please let us know. I realize we are on the list together but that was something that Tracey added thinking it would be logical. Like Peggio my room was to be a single --we both are having sleep issues --In addition I have just learned I will be coming to Vegas after being on the road taking care of a family member who will be going into surgery for cancer adding to my lack of sleep.
I feel awful having a sister without a room right now.
If we are full with rooms- Kjbell I was still able to get our discount rate when I reserved mine and I believe we have a few people still settling on where they are going to sleep including another person who doesn't have a room yet. So maybe we need to reserve another room? -
We at Breastcancer.org wish you all a fabulous time together!! Please take lots of photos and send us a copy!!!!
With love from the breastcancer.org team,
Melissa

Awe... how sweet Melissa! We will get many pictures... if it was not for BCO... this would not have come to pass.

Hi Sista's!! Having some problems getting a ticket to Paint the Square Pink!! Tried 3 times last nite & then again twice this morning. Jazzy has already tried to help. I'm running into cookie issues when I click on the link, then somehow fixed it last nite, but once got to information, ran into a security certificate warning-their's expired in May 09. I even typed in the link & still ran into the same problems. Now I'm pretty concerned already about putting information on the internet-but when I'm told there is no security-don't feel safe putting my personal & credit card information out there. Has anyone else ran into this problem??? I'm ready to give up & just hope there are some ticket's available still when we get there & buy one then.
On another note the swine flu has hit here in Hood River, Or & the schools are putting out information meetings to help parent's. The Vaccine is suppose to come out sometime next month. Has it hit any of your home towns yet?? We've got a few family member's & friends not feeling to well, so I'm keeping my distance.
Vegas.....12 days away-YIPEE!!!!!!
Take care Chow XOXO Susie
