serenity, correct, if I shrunk font size I couldn't read it. It's already small enough as it is and I think that's apparent on the video I posted x number of pages back. I don't think anyone could read it shrunk to 50%. Again, it shouldn't require that much effort to have a side menu when the previous forum did.
I’m not mad anymore about the situation. I’d say I find it annoying now. I moved past my hurt feelings. It feels frustrating at times but can’t do anything about it. It does make me incredibly sad that the forum failed several members who passed away that were unable to navigate the site. I tell myself the Mods are trying, but I still feel the need to voice my concerns.

Divinemrsm: "To those complaining that we are complaining, imo, the site managers expected the mostly women members would be complacent and not complain, accepting what was offered. We're not here to keep sweet when things are not acceptable. We are members who have a voice. We use those voices to call attention to problems that need fixed. We want a user friendly forum that operates effectively for any woman or man dealing with breast cancer to use and benefit from. The current forum is not that."

Mods - another problem. I often put my new messages in 'preview' so I can go back to a previous page before & submit. Today I was blocked for this reason:
Blocked because "an attempted XSS (cross site scripting) was detected and blocked". Now WTH??? Block ID XSS023. Server ID 12035
I'm not clever enough to have any idea what this is - but I tried three times & could not read the previous page in the thread. Ideas? Desktop using Windows 10 and Firefox. And yes, all of my programs are currently up to date.

AGREE!!!

Agree that the heart and soul of this site has been lost!

Dear minustwo,
Thank you for this information. We will send it to our tech team and have them explore further.

I've been having this problem for a week or so. When I click on a post I'm not directed to the latest post I read. I'm automatically taken to the last post. Thank you for your help.
-
Threetree I couldn't agree more with your comment from your last post: "I think the moderators are doing what they can within the confines of what the organization allows them to do". I truly believe this to be the case. It's not the mods it the people above them.
-
I must agree I think the mods have little ability to effect change. I think they simply pass on our issues to others. I can’t get mad at them because I suspect that they are powerless in this situation. Beating up on them seems pointless given that they can’t do much. Yes, communication to members could be better but who knows, their hands might be tied there as well.

Lucky for readers here many of my posts never make it to publication. I type long drawn out boring posts and then move to another site forgetting that it takes a while for "submitting" to occur so posts are lost in the long road to having something actually submit.
-
I am with you wrenn! And as I sit here waiting for my post to submit once again. I realize how short life is and sitting around waiting for a lousy slow website to load is a waste of time.
-
Now I've had a post disappear! I wrote a detailed response to someone on a different thread, and just before I could hit submit, the page jumped to put that annoying donation crap front and center, and when I scrolled back up to the reply box, everything I'd written was gone. Screw this.
-
I think that's the point Alice. That we will all say "screw this" and disappear. They are probably surprised that anyone is still here. They are not getting the fresh start they were hoping for with the "articles" and "donate" area of the site.
I am sure any remaining people are here for the relationships (that BCO has been unable to destroy so far).
-
Wrenn, I think you're right. I read the Ask a Manager site, and this situation reminds me of companies with truly bad leadership.
-
So Mods - here's the same problem again tonight. Can't move to the next page. Desktop with Firefox. PLEASE help.
-
MinusTwo, we have reported this to the tech team and hope to have this fixed for you soon. Will keep you posted. Thanks for the screenshot and the details.

Alice - Never heard of Ask a Manager site before, maybe I'll take a look. Aside from that this whole thing smacks of bad leadership, and as I have noted before, one of my thoughts is that they are a "top heavy" organization. Way too many employees and salaries compared to the actual products and services they offer. It's an off balance ratio. I think economists and business types know all about this phenomenon and that there's a formal name for the situation. The right proportion of the money they collect does not seem to go for products and services, but for salaries and to pay all these "consultants", etc. who seem to be giving them bad advice on top of it.
-
We are about to get the information. Unless the several posts declaring more information coming next week are ummm gaslighting?
-
Just had a cup of tea while waiting for post to submit. I'm retired so lots of time to "kill"
-
Thanks for those posting about the slow load time; tech team is looking into the issue.

MinusTwo - we have shared the screenshot and details with the tech team and they are investigating. Thank you.

Hello All,
We're excited to share a step forward for our community.
We have selected a new platform for the discussion forum, and we're hard at work planning how to migrate member accounts, posts, forums, topics, and private messages, and create a user-friendly design and experience with many new features. Our work will happen in the background so you can continue using the current site while we build. When we are further along and ready to test the new design and experience, we'll invite some members to help us.
We hope to have the new discussion forums live by early 2023. Stay tuned!

Thank you for narrowing it down somewhat. Wondering each day for 6 months whether there would be a functioning site any day was stressful.
-
Thank you, Moderators, for the update.
-
Thanks, mods!
-
Thank you, Moderators for the update. It is very much appreciated.

One of the major things that stood out for me when diagnosed with cancer (after the pain, fear of death and feeling alone) was uncertainty.
Knowing that "sometime" next year the community that got me through those fears and feeling alone might be back helps a bit. Many of us remaining may not be here but getting this "update" I now know there is no point in counting on it any time soon and I can move on.
-
I think I read something on this forum a while back about the difficulty in migrating 20 years worth of comments. Totally unnecessary in my opinion. BC treatment isn't what it was 20 years ago. If a member doesn't find what they want in the past two, three, four years all they have to do is begin a new topic which would have more relevant information anyway, if people respond. I totally understand what wrenn means about "sometime". Many of us with MBC only plan to the next scan. 6 months or more is impossible to consider.
-
NoPink has a really good point. Posts and discussions over five years old can probably be simply archived in a plain-jane text-based database. The keywords or user names can still be searched for and accessed if needed, but they don't need the graphics, imported user information (e.g. diagnoses, activity data, etc.), and polished format of the active discussions.
-
I've been on this board for over 13 years. It's not just the technical treatment information that is essential. Just as essential, if not more essential, is the community members who have posted about their experience and shared how terrified and frightened they were and then down the road they get through this and share about getting through. You might want to go back and read some of the earlier threads.
