I do not log on much but am sorely disappointed about the layout.

Divine - I don't understand why the mods haven't answered your question on uploading videos to this site. The simple answer is you can't. We can upload image files only. We can post links to videos, but the videos have to be uploaded to a website like YouTube or other social media. But I don’t think your video will tell the mods anything new. Maybe that’s why they haven’t answered. 🙄
I’m just tired of it all.
-
minustwo, now that I think about a "like" button more, I never ever really felt the need for one either. It would only be for this thread, since April.
-
Serenity, thanks for letting me know I could upload my video to YouTube to be able to post it here. So I did. Like I said, it takes a convoluted number of clicks and over a minute to get to My Favorites, which is always my starting point. Over a minute and I’m still not even in a thread reading it.
One thing I miss about the old forum is the listing on the side of the page with links to All Topics, My Favorites, etc. It is cumbersome to always have to reaccess it with yet more clicks. -
Divine, that looks like how I get in also. To say that it is less than user friendly is a vast understatement.
-
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Happy 6 month anniversary to the new BCO.
-
-
Yes, ruth, and how did we even figure it out? really don’t know. Lots of trial and error and frustration if I remember correctly. Since we are invested members of the forum, we stuck it out, but I don’t think it would be a welcoming process to any newbie or to those limited on time.
-
Exactly. That is the main problem,.
-
I don’t want to fill up this page with another whining session, but I’m whining. I completed my full course of treatment last week. I was so hopeful that in the six months since my diagnosis where I’ve had a blood clot, long wait for pathology, oncotype test, surgery, recovery from surgery, chemotherapy, radiation and my hair is even growing back that a highly rated nonprofit company with an Internet address as it’s title could have resolved the fiasco of the board redesign.
Alas, that wasn’t to be. I feeling better enough that I am here pleading with any BCO leadership who have the power to restore this place to the level of functionality and interaction I say during my first 2 weeks to use that power. The interaction here is truly a matter of health and safety for breast cancer survivors.
-
Divine - exactly what I have to do on my desktop. But you're also right that choosing "my favorites" is always VERY slow. And going back there to read the next favorite is another long wait.
What I tried to say several post back was - as a show of good faith MODS, couldn't you address just one of the issues everyone has detailed. IT doesn't have to be mine. How about lengthening the pages again? Or any of 20 or 30 other issues that people have asked about.... BUT FIX JUST ONE DAMN THING to show that BCO cares.,
Edited to say - yes I know this would take your "TEAM" away from your main goal - to come up with a new site again. BUT - as I said, it would certainly show good faith after 6 months. Think of all the positive publicity? We might even start recommending the site to our friends & neighbors again?
-
How strangely silent the mouthpieces of BCO have been on this thread lately.
-
Love how at the bottom of the main page how they give so much space to their "donate" and how easy it is to read with the white on black. And without going back, someone had posted once logged in, you have to go to "all topics" or "active topics" to get to "favorite topics". That extra step is necessary because?
I had to edit the pic, as it would only show a blank box. Edited about 5 times. Finally, I had to save it as a jpg to my computer before it would show.
-
WTF is this crap when I tried to post a picture?
-
Alice, I can't help you with that, sorry.
I also had a post above the picture. About all the extra clicks to take us to "My Favorites". It should be right there after we have logged in, period. Not three or more steps to get there.
-
Alice - Maybe the silence is because some sort of shake up is happening at the top? If so, it's long overdue and about time! I'm beginning to wonder if they can even afford to do a new platform. They spent so much time and money on this abject failure, that maybe they are stuck. They really shot themselves in the foot with this one. Destroying their own credibility and organization. I've just never seen anything like this with any other website, ever.
-
ThreeTree, at least they're letting us know how much they care about the members. ZERO ZIP ZILCH
-
Divine, I THINK if you go to Active Topics, instead of All Topics, you MIGHT have one less click. It seemed that way to me when I watched your video. I go to Active, and then Favorites are there. I think you had an extra click in there that I don't. BUT, I could be wrong!!!
-
Any redesigns of websites I have visited are up in hours with minor fixes. If it took days many. users would move away and createsocial media backlash. I wonder if BCO hopes cancer patients are too sick or distracted by possible death to bother and they just give up (see numbers of active users).
Going into month 7 we have to assume that this IS the BCO community forum. We can accept it or not.
-
"How strangely silent the mouthpieces of BCO have been on this thread lately."
Looking for a new angle since we are onto the gaslighting?
-
This is far beyond any poor website support I have EVER encountered. As a former IT professional I cannot imagine this level of incompetence. Six months??? Totally unacceptable in this age of technology. I've concluded that this is the "new and improved" forum setup and we might as well get used to it or move along. I didn't want to believe that they want to scrap the discussion forum to focus on their articles, but I was wrong. I have to laugh at this, from the main page...
Trusted Guidance When You Need Us Most. Because No One Should Face Breast Cancer Alone.
Ironic, when most of us depend on others going through this horror for support. Reading an article does not help anyone's emotional distress, and certainly does not make one feel less "alone." Such a pity what has happened here.
-
Wren, where are you finding a list of "active members"?
-
lw422 - Couldn't agree more with all you've said, and I have no tech background whatsoever.
Also, has anyone else thought that this organization seems to be awfully "top heavy"? Just as I have no tech background, I also have no business background (Beesie, we need you!), but just as a lay person observation, it seems that the ratio of employees, i.e. the "team", compared to the actual services provided is way off. BCO seems to employ a whole lot of people, and if all it produces are these watered down "articles" and a lousy discussion board, it seem to me that their business model is in great need of help. If you look at the "team" section here, you see lots of employees with nice titles, etc., but what actually seems to be produced and directed at breast cancer patients is very little. Seems like a lot more of that money they solicit should go to products and not so many employees. This time when I looked at the "team" section I didn't get a sense that some who were previously there as "moderators"? are there any more. Alice, maybe that has something to do with the silence you referred to. Maybe they are having troubles retaining some of these people for obvious reasons.
Again, I'm no tech or business person, but like to think I do have some common sense.
-
Goldie, I mean the numbers of people posting since this started has dropped dramatically. BCO does have numbers of members but that is people with registered accounts. Many of those accounts are inactive as we can see daily. There are many regulars who no longer post.
Beesie was amazing for newcomers but if you check for newbies daily there are hardly any. Those not diagnosed but worried posted frequently before this debacle.
-
Thanks Wren. I posted the question about member, but it's ALL member. Create an account, but never came back. Those that have passed. Those that posted just a few times and never returned. Def. low on new posts in Active.
Maybe those employees quit because they didn't want to be involved in this mess?

Hi All, we are still working on improving the experience in the Community, at the same time preparing for our new platform. We hear your frustration, we understand your patience is limited, and we are committed to bettering our Community.

Read the room mods. *sigh

Trusted Guidance When You Need Us Most. Because No One Should Face Breast Cancer Alone.
That would be hilarious if it weren't for the frustration that ShetlandPony and Moth faced when trying to use this site. As it is, it's just a huge FU to the members. Unforgivable. As is the latest canned response from the mods - the same useless response we've heard for SIX MONTHS.
-
I'm wondering if the "mods" are really bots? Surely a human wouldn't agree to follow this script. They are mocking the only people who have not deserted them. YET
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Their big donors, most likely very rich, give a bunch of money and then they use it as tax write off. Same goes for the foundations that help with very expensive drugs, altho there hasn't been much for BC this year. I started right in January, but nothing! All donations for BC were closed.
