Thank you, pinger, for reporting this. We are aware that our Search function is not optimal and are working to improve it. However, we have found if you search "D and C" it will provide some results that may be helpful. (Some members also refer to it as D/C, so a search for that might help too!) See results here: https://community.breastcancer.org/posts/search?ut...
We hope this helps a little!

These are all still problems.
There is way too much white space partitioning the fields. It's as if it was designed for a large print format, but the designers forgot to increase the text size.
Here is a screen shot of the Active Topics page. The buffer column is enormous (see red notations). The most important field - the Topics list - is limited to about 2/3 of the screen. Ideally, the Topics field should be closer to 3/4 of the screen. The buffer column needs to be reduced to about a quarter of its current width. If the ad can be reduced in size to let the menu field be narrowed, even better. As you can see above (blue notations), the menu options barely use half the width of the menu field.
Here is a screen capture from one of the forums. The menu, buffer, and user columns take up so much space, the actual posts take up less than half the screen. Some posts even run off the edge of the screen. Again, please reduce the widths of the menu and buffer columns, so the most important elements on the screen take up the most space.
Note: These screen captures came from viewing on a laptop device.

Like so many others, my DX has been changed (again). This time it's the ER/PR. Last time it was Her2 and some dates.
It's listed ER+/PR+. This is incorrect. It should be ER+/PR-
Edited to add: when I submitted this it changed some of the dates, again.

Miriandra, thank you for your feedback. We are aware the spacing issue is a concern for you and others, but will likely be addressed once we move to a new platform.
Wonderland, we have noted your glitch and our techs areactively working on a fix for getting accurate diagnostic/treatment information to show. Thank you.

The following questions are meant for the moderators, so I kindly ask that everyone else refrain from answering. I'm interested in hearing from the mods for clarification.
Moderators, would you please explain to those of us less in the know what is meant by “moving to a new platform"?
It sounds like there are different platforms to choose from and that breastcancer. org is still having discussions about which one would be best to move to. Is that correct? Is that the planning stage that breastcancer. org is still in, trying to decide?
If so, how much longer will it take to arrive at a decision?
If there are sticking points, what are they?
What is preventing the next step in the process? When a new platform is finally chosen, will you let us members know?
Once it is, what is the time frame between the process of moving and then rolling out an upgraded forum with true improvements over the current one?
Can you give some idea of what kind of timeline you are looking at?
Will we members be using the forum on a new platform by the fall? Winter? Next year?
Is there anything else you can tell us about the process? -
Mods,
When can we expect the monthly update on the Release Notes? It’s been over a month since the last one when they were supposed to be weekly. I would like you to update these without me reminding you.
-
when you log in, to get to ‘my favourites’ in the forum, you have to click ‘community’ then go into the ‘hamburger ‘ at the top right, the pick ‘forum’, then , if you’re lucky ‘my favourites’ come up. It is so long winded. You really have done the community a didervice by changing in the manner you did, to something so ineffective, especially when a lot of users are ill/tired/frazzled and most in need of contact

Serenity, our next Release Notes update is scheduled for this Friday, July 15 by end of day.
DivineMrsM, thanks for your thoughtful questions. We'll do our best to answer your questions based on what we know now, and promise to give your more information as decisions are made. Our goal is to be as transparent as possible, while still deep in the process of evaluating technology solutions to rebuild the community discussion forums on Breastcancer.org.
After assessing dozens of solutions, we have narrowed our choice to three out-of-the box discussion forum platforms (this being the foundation for threaded conversations and private messages linked to individual user profiles). A turnkey, out-of-the-box solution is ideal as it will allow us to more quickly launch a new community discussion forum and it benefits from upgrades over time. One critical component we are working on at the moment is finding the best approach to migrate 20+ years of discussion data (these are your posts and messages shared in forums and topics) from the current platform. We are close to completing this evaluation and expect to make a decision very soon.
We look forward to sharing our decision soon, along with a timeline for launching the new community discussion forum. Thank you again for your ongoing patience and thoughtful questions.

Thanks for the response Mods. Just PLEASE do NOT choose one that's like facebook.
-
Thank you for replying to my post, Moderators. It helps to have the information you provided. I don’t want to speak for other members, but I’m pretty sure we all want to hear what platform is chosen and what kind of timeline we are looking at for the launch of a new discussion forum.

Absolutely! We'll keep you posted!

Hi all,
We are happy to share that the issue some members had been having with not being able to access and edit/delete their diagnostic and treatment info has now been fixed.
Those who have not been able to previously access their diagnostic or treatment information and edit/delete should now be able to by going to their profile page (Avatar at the top of the screen), and navigating to either My Diagnoses or My Treatments in the left navigation menu. Your list of diagnoses/treatments should be viewable there, and under each diagnosis/treatment, you should have the option to edit or delete. Please note: any changes that are made and saved to your diagnostic/treatment information will be viewable in your profile/signature after a few minutes.
If there are any members who are still seeing issues with this functionality, please send us a PM.
Thank you for your patience while we got to the bottom of this issue.

As I stated in a private message to the mods yesterday, those "improvements" did not fix anything. I spent an HOUR trying to update my information and it would not cooperate, filling in wrong information after I'd selected the correct one, or just freezing up and not advancing to the next section. I was nearly in tears after the frustration of trying to get it to work.
-
I tried but my subtype (which is significant and common) does not show in subtype options even though I had pointed this out a long time ago to mods. I didn't bother to continue.
This ridiculous mess would be comical if not for the fact that it is a CANCER forum.
-
Mods,
I was going to post about something else, but the news of a member passing recently reminded me that we lost her voice long ago when BCO implemented the site changes on March 1. She was unable to log in and stopped trying.
Please keep accessibility to the forum in mind when you make changes. Redirecting us at login from the discussion forum to our profile is unnecessary and adds more steps. Some of us just won’t have the energy.
-
Alice, we received no PM from you yesterday, the day before, or since we sent you a PM about the fix and asking if it was working for you. We are happy to send you another PM to walk through the issues you’re seeing so we can help.
Wrenn, the issues you point out with missing subtype is still on our to-do list. It was not part of this fix, which was specifically for those members who could previously not edit/delete their info.
Serenity, noted.
We are sad to hear the passing of one of our members. If you could please share the member’sname with us in PM or otherwise so we could acknowledge them, it would be appreciated. Thank you for sharing.

I was going to post about something else, but the news of a member passing recently reminded me that we lost her voice long ago when BCO implemented the site changes on March 1. She was unable to log in and stopped trying.
This is the worst outcome of the reformatting. Heartbreaking.
I also don't understand the mods asking who this member was, when a couple of hours before posting the question in this thread, they offered their condolences to her passing in another thread. Are different moderators replying to different threads?
It comes across as uncaring and out of touch with the members of the forum and what we deal with.
-
Mods,
I will not PM you with her name. You already know. I may use that opportunity to express my seething frustration with the callousness of your recent response and many of your responses to our posts expressing difficulty after the site changes. That would be too exhausting for me to write.
-
Our apologies, DivineMrsM, we didn't realize that was the same member we'd posted about.
-
Guess you forgot your own attempts to reach her when it was reported she couldn't log in.
You sent me a PM that your emails to her were undeliverable.
-
Dear BCO, 5 months ago you shat on a large well established community of people dealing with breast cancer who grew to depend on each other. You did this without warning to be able to SELL "knowledge" even though many other sites were so much more knowledgeable. Your new attempt to educate didn't leave out "metaplastic" subtype as a glitch. It was left out due to BCO's lack of knowledge/ignorance around breast cancer.
It was pointed out to you that a well loved frequent poster was dying and was unable to reach out to her support circle. This is who you are now BCO. This is who you are.
Your defensiveness adds to the disgust.
-
wrenn, we also never intended for the issues to occur that did. We are very unhappy and apologetic about what happened. BCO is continuing to try to make things better, and is in the process of planning the new community experience that will be much, much better. Serenity, yes, correct, the email was not deliverable. We weren't sure how else we could have contacted her. We are fully committed to land on the best solutions so that these instances never happen again.
-
Mods, this is what I sent you.
-
And WTF with being able to get on some threads today (VERY slowly 😡) but others get an error message? This is regressing back to the worst "access" of a few months ago. Maybe just stop pretending that the site will get better. What a crock of shit.
-
The topic I couldn't access had 2 unread posts. I got the Mods' error message. When I saw it listed again, it said ZERO unread posts. No, I did not read them! Stop gaslighting the members.
-
Alicebastable, we are working on this right now. We too are getting error messages. We understand how frustrating this is.
Also, agree, without a new platform, things will likely not improve greatly. We're full force into getting things resolved.
-
Yes, Mods, she was that member. She made an impact on the rest of us. You missed out.
I also had the same trouble as Alice as I was trying to post an update on another member because she posted her updates on a different site.
-
Alicebastable, per your PM to us, can you confirm you pressed send? We never received that PM and in your screenshot, we see "send message" wasn't yet pushed. It's important for us to know if there is a glitch.
