Another "fix" that is again broken is when someone posts an extra large graphic/image, we have to again scroll left and right to read any further text posts on that page. I thought it was fixed a couple of months ago, but I see it again today on certain threads.
Serenity, thank you for voicing the need to continue to post tech glitches. If we don't report problems on this thread, no one will fix them. They don't seem to be able to recognize on their own the new breaks they create. The fact that they haven't yet fixed them, broke what wasn't broken in the March 1 "relaunch," or rebroke something that had been fixed, is why we still check in here.
As was noted early on after March 1, once we report an issue, others do not need to report it if they read this thread. There are thousands of "views" on this thread in the last 3 plus months so people must be trying to cope with the problems they encounter with the site even if they don't report a new problem. If someone does not want to read this thread, or doesn't like when a member reports on problems or provides constructive criticism to BCO, no one says they have to read it.

Newly noted problem. As I'm trying to navigate the site today, I am experiencing long delays. I'm also seeing various web addresses for tracking apps BCO uses to track us showing up in a temporary bar near the bottom of the page. Please stop this tracking and speed up the page load time!!!!

Nearly all websites are indexed on the Wayback Machine: https://web.archive.org
Went to the there to find my elegant, simple signature:NED breast and prostate cancer. More on Male BC
Dx 03/14, IBC, Lgth. 2cm, Stge IIIB, Gde 2B, ER+/PR+, HER2- ; FEC x3, Taxol x3; Mx & 2/23 nodes; Rads x 33; now on tamoxofin.
Remember what the pages used to look like: -
Oh Traveltext - thanks for reminding us how elegant & simple everything was BEFORE the changes. I do appreciate all of you who post issues here. Like many others, I'm hanging on with not much hope. Many of the people I really enjoyed interacting with have given up.
-
Yes, yes, we know. We want it different, and all your comments are duly noted. We too are very frustrated. Steps are being taken, albeit, slower than we hoped. We're sorry!
-
Thanks for the encouraging words to continue posting here. With my tech background this is firmly in my lane.
Mods,
You seem to ignore more comments these days. I'm not sure you're noting all of them.
As far as the steps taken being slower than you hoped, they are slower than you should accept from your tech team. I've had to step in to help when a client demanded a faster resolution. You should demand more.
The profile issues alone should have been resolved within 3 weeks at the most. Members who want their treatment details deleted should have them removed from the data source within days while the profile UI remains broken. That builds trust and lessens impatience.
As ceanna has noticed, your tech team is working on adding tracking lately. This leads to slower page loads. I'm surprised you're doing this before moving to a new platform because this current one is so "fragile" that you can't increase the font size in our posts. Is there a tech project manager to prioritize the tasks in a way that makes sense?
-
Mods, thanks for the apology. Maybe it's time for you mods all to step up. Tell the so-called leadership at BCO that you've had enough. We've been trying to tell them for months and so far all we get is a lack of information and no improvement. Ask the BCO board directly to take action and fix this fiasco. BCO leadership and board won't respond to us--maybe employee action is necessary to allow us to help fulfill the mission of helping people. Stand up for the members here. Stop all the tracking and data collection used only for fund raising, and be the resource you claim to be! Enough is enough! You think you're frustrated now, just allow BCO to continue on the broken path it is on currently!!
Traveltext, thanks for sharing a look at the "good-old-days" of BCO. Even in tiny print copy it is readable, inviting, and a nice contrast to the stark, white pages with gray text. We can only hope and call for a similarly attractive discussion board if and when BCO fixes or replatforms the "Community" side of BCO.
-
I don't see what the problem would be with members airing their technical complaints on this thread. It's up to the Moderators, not members, to determine what's acceptable since it was the Mods who, in 2012, graciously created the thread for this specific purpose. If the Mods had a problem with it, they would speak up. Reporting technical issues here is not derailing any other threads. It’s using the thread as it was intended. If any member does not think the issues have been addresses correctly, why shouldn't they keep pointing out the problems? This is the place to vent.
Along with everyone else, I am waiting, waiting, waiting for the promised upgrade and so far………..
-
TravelText - Thanks so much for sharing the "retro" page for this site. Made me very nostalgic.
Ceanna - Thank you for continuing to bring up and point out some very important and relevant issues! I agree wholeheartedly that someone needs to shake up that board and the higher ups. I just don't know if they would listen to the moderators anymore than they listen to the discussion board members. There is a major disconnect with those people. It's no wonder they are in the mess they are in. It's just unfortunate that it seems to be the moderators and discussion board members who are paying for the big disconnect and mess up and not the "leadership" and board members of BCO. They are the responsible ones and they are the ones who should be taking the hit for this miserable failure.
-
Mods, I hope you reached out directly to prariedweller, since I didn't see a response from you to her issue noted above in this thread (see her post of 6/11). This is an example of a recently joined user who is encountering unfortunate barriers to get support. I want to make sure that the issue of password reset not working didn't get missed once comments rolled over to a new page.
-
Thanks mle42 for your alert. We'll reach out to her, but this is an issue our tech team is aware of and actively working on.
Thanks!
-
We are reading each and every post, we promise. We thought we had found the mew platform, then encountered issues. So, we're on to the next platform deep-dive with the company. Fingers are crossed that we can move this along!
-
Mods - interesting that everyone who chimed in on the last page LOVES the retro look and does NOT want new look. Something to consider
-
What fresh hell is this? I logged in, and poof! It landed me in my on the page with my account, but it didn't show me logged in. Tried it again, same thing. It took three tries to get dumped onto that page (with the dumb "Accept cookies" pop-up) with my profile pic showing I was logged in, before I could finally navigate to the community threads.
-
Same thing happened to me, Alice. Wish BCO had done a deep dive first time around like the mods stated they are doing for the next new platform.
-
My last few posts were wiped out and I cannot even fathom why, at this point, this mess can't be fixed. The same old message still sits out there telling us it's being worked on. What a joke this has all become. So many people have given up.
-
I hear you Hippmark. I am no tech person, but never in all my years of using a computer have I ever seen this sort of thing with any website! I can't think of any website that I have ever visited, routinely or otherwise, that had this level of problems for this long. This organization that I thought was professional and sophisticated has turned out to be extraordinarily incompetent and amateurish.
-
We are still unable to use capital letters in our names. While it is a minor thing in light of the egregious formatting blunders, it carries a subtextual message that we are minimized and little - of no importance or deserving of capitalizing. Adjusting the member database to allow capital letters in the Member Name field should be a very easy fix, and shouldn't have a negative impact on any other features (or "features").
Many of us have already given up so much of our autonomy because of the direct effects of our cancers or from our treatments and meds. Please don't also deny us the simple dignity of capitalizing our names.
-
Second day in a row that My Favorites does NOT come up. I have to play around & choose other things & go back & forth. AND THIS IS NUTS.
Please take away the latest fix that does not allow us to immediately see MY FAVORITES when we log in. Or please apply yet another fix IMMEDIATELY.
Desk top, Firefox, Windows.
-
What minustwo said. Same thing here. Ridulous.
-
Yes, that is happening to me as well 🤬
-
Mods,
The new glitches are making the site harder to access and navigate, and your lack of response adds insult to injury.
What is your tech team doing???
I hope your next post is offering to delete unwanted, incorrect details and not about a news article that most of us ignore anyway.
As part of some training, I worked tech support for 4 months. I learned that a workaround helped while we worked on a real solution to a problem. So here's one to avoid login redirects and lost fave topics in one (well, maybe):
Create a new bookmark for Favorite Topics. If not signed in, it will show the login page first. I’ve been using this to avoid searching for the login button.
-
Mods - just sent you a PM. THIRD day that we can't get to My Favorites, or Private Messages or..... when we log in. Horrible searching & work arounds. We have already lost so many people. Please make this PRIORITY #1 so we don't lose more.
Serenity - thanks for your suggestion. My bookmark is connected to my log in and I am not good enough with computers to revise (in another 'age', I would have said 'hard wired' LOL) . But it may work for others.
-
Hi all,
Being brought to your Account/Profile page at log in is the intended action when logging in. This is because the log in function is no longer only applicable to the Community -- it is now tied to the greater Breastcancer.org site. So, you're taken to your Account/Profile page and from there you can navigate to the Community or to the Educational side, as you wish. Once you navigate to the Community side, by hovering over the Community tab at the top of the screen and choosing All Topics, you'll then see the left-side navigation bar that you're used to, with the tabs for My Favorites, Private Messages, etc. They did not go anywhere, and are still located within the Community.
Thank you!
-
OK - I'll let you know tomorrow if it works for me.
-
It does work, but it's so... convoluted. I got to it only after a lot of failed attempts, when I clicked around randomly, out of sheer frustration. I personally wonder how and why all of this happened and, honestly, I would really appreciate the Mods letting us know. The hardest part to fathom is why a party who's so obviously incompetent was hired...
-
Mods,
No, it doesn’t have to direct you to the Account page. Someone made it to that. Why would you need to see that page every time you log in?You can code it to stay on the same page. Gotta have more clicks, right?
Seems you’re committed to making the user experience worse.

I stopped posting on this thread because it was apparent that BCO was not interested in "glitches". I believed back in March that they were doing away with the forum but now believe they will keep it either from pressure from the outcry of members or it was their intention all along to have a forum but only as a secondary aspect.
I was starting to feel like I was trolling to post any concerns/objections on this thread. (Caustic/trollish comes too easily to me) It felt like the waste of time it is when commenting on Maga rants on Twitter. It falls on deaf ears. I am still tempted to comment on maga threads but I do acknowledge it to be trolling and the exasperation of dealing with gaslighters is too hard on my blood pressure so I am trying to stop.Although magas are dangerous in my opinion I am Canadian and it doesn't affect me as directly as it does sane/decent Americans. BUT BCO felt like a very special community to me when I was diagnosed and still does. Even though I don't need it for treatment information and support I have a connection to the members and it is heartbreaking to watch what BCO so heartlessly did to them. Getting mad again now thinking about it. fuck.
I guess this was kind of a troll. *shrug
I do wonder how BCO can call itself non profit when they keep managing to get that "DONATE" button front and centre. Like many businesses it seems like compassion or empathy for lives destroyed is not a priority or in the case of this business even a passing thought. I wonder when the fee for use will start? -
Yes, it does work but convoluted describes it well. Sigh..
-
The new sign in totally sucks. It was already too many steps, and when some of us complained about that, BCO's solution was to add more of them? 💩💩💩💩💩
