Mods,
I need to expand on the location problem. It is set in the profile, so it should be included in the profile fix. Getting this part fixed isn't a big deal for me, but actually fixing it may help fix the other profile problems.
Right now the location in my profile is empty, but "Montreal" still appears. When I've had it set in my profile, I had it appear twice. What's interesting is that it appeared as "Montreal, Montreal", not "MontrealMontreal". The latter means there are likely 2 different places on the page reading the location. The former means the 2 locations are read in a string building function. How is that function still reading "Montreal"?
-
Serenity,
The location fix is one that we are hoping to deploy this week, given there are no issues with QA. We are also hopeful that making this fix will also help us get to the bottom of the other profile issues.
Thanks!

Okay. That was painful. I have no idea how to get it to fill in what are pretty standard treatments for metastatic disease (Vinorelbine, Eribulin) and then I can’t find the place to make my treatments public/private. Perhaps you no longer need to make your treatments public? We’ll see when I hit submit.
-
Mods-You can add me to the group that would like to see more replies per page and less white space to scroll thru. I've just switched treatments and wanted to read threads about it. Takes as much time to load, skip thru OP & scroll as it does to read comments.
-
Wow! I took 2 weeks off and nothing has improved. The tech glitches thread is still dealing with the same problems. The light gray text still forces me to use "Bold" so I can read what I type. A simple, quick style sheet change to a black larger font would greatly improve readability for everyone.
Hope Wohl is still trying to spin the "tech difficulties" on the announcement page and say they have occurred for a few weeks! My goodness, try 3 months!!!! Now we're still hoping a new platform will be implemented!!!???? Has it even been tested yet? How long do we have to wait to welcome people back and help newcomers--if they even can navigate this mess?
The main questions remain unanswered. Why weren't the discussion threads factored into the relaunch, why wasn't it beta tested, and retested with membership before the launch, and why it is taking 3 months to fix this fiasco?
Hope Wohl, and Jane Hollingsworth, it is now 3 months with no accountability. You have not taken responsibility, never acknowledged and apologized for the breach, and now can't seem to get this fixed. Step up!!

regarding dx/treatment commonality, is it the people that tried to make changes? I have done nothing. Mine is fine
-
jrnj - People have different types of problems. The duplicates are due to trying to make changes, but dates being wrong occurred without changes. My dates were wrong after the redesign, and I was able to delete my details before that part of the profile UI was broken. Given the data breach, I will not be putting them back.
-
jrnj, if your diagnosis information is fine, consider yourself very lucky!
If you read back in this thread (which, granted, is too painfully difficult to do with only 10 posts per page) you will discover that lots of people found all sorts of surprises in their diagnosis lines after the redesign. A common one was HER2- diagnoses becoming HER2+ (Or was it the reverse? Can't remember.). Other aspects of diagnoses changed. I think some people were shocked to see that the site had made them metastatic. Treatments dropped off and/or were changed. These individuals went in to fix the problem... and the problem got worse, and the worse again, and then worse again. And others, seeing this disaster and seeing the issues related to the possible date breach, simply went in to delete their diagnoses and treatments - and couldn't. Or by attempting to delete, rather than delete, the diagnosis and treatments changed.
It's been one holy mess. I never had my diagnosis filled out (I used the signature line to details my diagnoses and treatments, but have now deleted them) but in checking my profile/settings, I discovered that I was born on 03/31/2004. I had never entered my birthday into my profile and I can assure you that I was not born in 2004. Nor is my birthdate any where near March 31st. Since the system insists that I replace the incorrect birthdate with another date (I can't just blank it out) and since I don't want to put in my real birthdate nor do I want to lie, I've decided to remain 18.
Mods, the decision to not adjust the type size is disrespectful of your membership, given that we have complained since day 1 of this fiasco that the type is too small / too faint / too tightly spaced / with too much white space, making the site challenging to read and post on. In your promotional materials touting the redesign, it's mentioned that the type and layout was selected intentionally, with consideration to the vision issues faced by some people in treatment for breast cancer. How could you get it so wrong? Oh, I know. Have you bothered to look at the Work & Co (your design company) website? Amazingly, it looks just like the new BCO site. Even more amazing, if you click to see examples of their work for a multitude of different clients, most of those sites look just like BCO too. So how exactly was the BCO site redesigned with breast cancer patients in mind? Seriously, did BCO actually pay for this generic recycled (over and over and over again) design?

beesie - I forgot about the HER2 status problem. There was a problem with HER2+ having a weird string after it. In trying to fix it, they screwed it up for everyone (including jrnj) who displayed their HER2 status before finally getting it right. I'm 602 years old. It's not a lie. I'm showing that there's no birthdate validation.
-
Just read Work & co News re:March 15 launch of this new site & how wonderful it is. Ha! Hope their prospective clients find this forum
-
If they search Twitter on the BCO redesign and Work & Co, they should see my complaints about it.
-
Yes, my HER2 status was flipped. It's correct now. There were empty brackets next to it. I think those used to hold how the status was determined. Mine took a FISH test. I actually was comforted seeing how many others had to have that long wait to get their answer on such an important pathology result. Now, it's not displayed. Other data I entered that also helped me with anecdotal comparisons such as %positivity for ER and PR is also stripped form signature lines. Same thing with Oncotype scores.
I completely respect that people aren't comfortable sharing details of their diagnosis and treatment. Conversely, I'm disappointed that information I entered isn't displayed anymore. I'm glad what is shown is now correct, but it's so much more generic. Again, lack of taking the pulse of the audience got us here. I'm not stuck on this issue, but I do think about it sometimes.
The font size is at my bare minimum readability on my iPad. At times I have to zoom the page, then I have to move it around to see the full page. I'm 57. I have a little myopia, but don't need glasses for computer work; this site is an exception. Like a lot of women in menopause and on hormone blockers, I also have dry eyes, exacerbated by treatments, and my chemotherapy has conjunctivitis as a common side effect, so larger font to me seems to have zero downside for this demographic. On my computer, this font size would be a 4 or 6. I would never deliver a product with a font size 6. Making it bold helps, but it's still not good.
The 10 rows per page definitely decreases my interaction. If I want to address a days worth of posts, I get distracted going between pages and actually have to take handwritten notes to make sure I include prior posters in my responses. I can wait for the new deployment, but having no rollout date or information of how it will address us as a community audience is a little stressful. And I shouldn't feel stressed about an online support resource.
It would be helpful to see a list of the basic requirements the new system will fill regarding readability. Sometimes I wonder if the many common themes we've reported have been accepted as minimum readability factors. I know a lot of developers have younger eyes, I hope that the human factors of this audience is being included in the redesign.
-
Mods,
Delaying the readability issue until migration is a mistake and poor planning.
-
Mods,
I see that you created 2 new threads on Zoom meetups and pinned them again.
Instead of this, how about using one thread per meetup with registration in OP. Point out that interested members can set threads as favorites and add email notifications. Then when you want to remind us, add a post to the relevant threads. You won’t have to clean up the pinned topics as often.
-
Mods - the screenshots you provided to delete treatment is not helpful. I do not get the option to see my treatments and can only add; not edit or delete. I'd like to delete my treatments until this site is functioning properly.
-
It's frustrating. I have to log in everyray. single. time I visit the site. Blah, blah, blah, here's a little humor:
-
-
Yes, moth, ditto here. Safari and Chrome on a Mac. This is beyond frustrating. Look at the ugly list below this post.
-
Mine is actually looking a little better.
-
I’m just going to have to ask, looking at traveltext’s signature, did the profile function of the site perhaps eat a bad everlasting gobstopper ending in blueberry pie?
-
Mods,
I see the Location issue hasn’t been fixed, and people still have bad data in their details.
Would you please have the tech team delete the details at the data source? I’m assuming they can find the data, because the profile UI isn’t reading any. If they can’t find the data, then it’s a clue!!!
-
sarahmaude Likely. Unfortunately, I can't change it and BCO won't delete it. It's a new era, for sure.
-
Just by looking at the last page I can see I'm not the only with a problem with the diagnosis etc.
Ahhhh the old days.
-
Oh, I long for those days before March 1, 2022…
-
I was going to start a new Forum/thread this morning and it looks like we now cannot start a new thread without permission from the Moderators???? That changed since this new website design?? Why?
-
Went into the FAQ to find out how to start new topic and it sends you to the Newly Diagnosed Forum to do this? Oh this site! Why has it become so confusing to ask or do anything simple anymore. Appears others have asked this same question. So frustrating what happened to this website.
-
I just created a new topic in this section without any assistance from the mods. Try again?
-
And how did you do that? The FAQ are confusing on instructions?
-
I didn’t read the instructions. 😊
In which forum do you want the new topic?
-
Choose the Forum. Under the description you should see 2 buttons. The first to Block Forum, and the second to Start a New Topic.
If you don't see these buttons, make sure you're logged in.
If you still have trouble, tell me which forum, and I'll post the link to get you started.
