INSOMNIACS place to talk in the wee hours

Hi All... Smarty I had to laugh about the Summer in Sacto the car melted--- lived there for 14 years and it's hot! Love the little squirrel drinking out of a straw.
I am here to tell you folks to read an article in the New York Times today called "Putting Breast Cancer On a Diet" by RC Rabin. Apparently in over 80 studies and 200,000 women they figured out that obesity caused breast cancer to return and kill the patient - 41% increase and those who were just overweight with a body mass index less than 30 had only a 7% greater risk of their cancer returning and killing them. Apparently obesity caused a bunch of factor that favored fueling cancer's return- increased nutrition, proteins, inflammation increased, increased insulin and metabolism. So maintaining regular weight will definitely keep you alive longer. Interesting that they said all this pertains to those whose breast cancers were hormone receptor positive or triple negative. Those whose breast cancers were Her2 positive were not effected by obesity. It's an interesting article. Give it a read. I wish you all good health!! Lots of love to all. rosevalley

Smaarty wow 107, do you have humidity with that.
Wench thinking of you, not long off now.
Rosevalley thank you for some motivation, I just came back from a bike ride. It is around 80 here including humidity, I am cooling off now, I can't imagine exercising in 107
Susan have you been able to do any more runs.

MammaRay praying, so sorry this is all so bad. I've also wondered about the "why" since childhood. I learned to just give it to God and Jesus. Otherwise, there is no sense to anything. Pray to the Archangels They each have there duty. Hmphm I used to know each ones duty. I mostly turned to Michael for protection. May God envelope you in His cloak.
-
Welcome Susie49'er, Thank you for bringing word of Mamma. Susan keeps contact with her. Life here isn't easy. Probably few places in the world like BCO. We talk of living, and doctoring, survival, and dying. Here we talk all of it at once. But that is as a family should be. To often folks go some where else when trouble strikes, so that we may be free of the trouble. Not good. Did you get to the Toradol , block, and opioid threads? I looked at the dates and you may have already had surgery?
Wenchi, no kidding about possums. I oftened wondered about their function in the ecosystem, but never remembered the thought long enough to look it up.
Susan, thanks for the update on Mamma. Chit. praying.
Junie, just reading your note of 6/24. If I weighed in just chalk it up to wine or memory. It's now 6/29 3:30 Closing and going to call.
Okay ahead of the curve. Talked like a good little nursey and Junie is setting it in motion for Home Health. YAY
-
Susan and Junie, the only thing I didn't research in my life was recon alternatives. SOOOooooo stupid. I so had belly fat to do a tram, I think I nixed it , b/c of the muscle talk. With the Post polio skeletal muscles are not good. But would have been so happy to have the belly fat made useful. Okay, everyone's embarrassed to talk about going to Essex except Patty and me. Dear Wonderful Donnie, is not turned off by the scars and the belly fat. YAY...............More YAY's.... Essex is so much fun to go to. Susan, LOL about Elena sitting up............So true.
Ah- Hah we have a code word now. I'm working on double vision. Just before I started working on double vision I learned it was Wed, not Fri. Bummer, but good cuz Shats has to have her yearly before the first.
Wenchie, just saw a thingy about Chris Christoferson, He has been misdx'd for years with dementia. Lyme. He's gained allot since correct treatment. I remember saying your doc was proactive. I thought later DUH, you found the tick. I know you know folks can go for years without a correct dx. I appreciated my ortho doc. He was very proactive on testing all new patients that came to him with complaints of ortho pain. Then if you were inactive and came back with new complaints he retested. I forget who on BCO went for years trying to get a series of docs to test and all refused. Lyme. lot's of problems. All preventable had any of them that she had asked to test. Seriously pissed me off. LOL your critter chow----such a nice person.

MOMINATOR, must be lurking. I know you were worried about keeping up, DON"T. We love seeing your smiling face. And mentoring a newbie. Honey you are so one of us. Just do a cannonball.
Lookie, Helloooooooo It finally dawned on me why I liked your kitchen so much. Besides it being beautiful. My last house, I did much the same color scheme. Couldn't do the marble though. The cupboards were solid wood. Took off the 1960's trim and had the contractor cut shallow grooves. We then painted them gray. So, miss that house
. So, don't miss the upkeep. It was huge. Criteria for this house was a 1000 sqft less. Flat land for ball games. No ravines that ate balls and no ball eating sewer openings. That was the criteria for the Realtor. LOL, at the time I had a Realtor's license. I knew folks came with crazy request's, but she gotter'done.
LOVERLY YOOHOO, do you still have that video of dog's in snow? I think it was from Kalamazoo, Mi. Lookie would probably get a kick

-
Sensi, glad you are doing okay at least on page 1228. Chance looks so happy in the pool------so cute.
ALLLLLLLL I heard about auto correct, but didn't go back to find them. Seriously we should designate a 2-3 day period a month. Like the 1-3rd each month. It could add to an enjoyment.. For those that don't have autocorrect the rule could be no spelling correction. Could be FUN.
and then it moves!

CHIT SHEP FFH------------CHIT............what a total jerk.
-
Shep. (about not being included in the USA)Serious. Can you vote? Do you get State services? Federal services? I know there has been a problem with placement of migrants into Carolinas, does that affect you? How did that happen? Has it happened anywhere else in the USA? Listen to Loverly & Junie. No one , No one could figure out what I saw in Donnie. In a different time, me too. But life is good, the loving is good, the treatment and respect is better than my DH Greg. As Ann Landers and her sister Dear Abby used to say "Are you better of with him or without him"
Susan great pic of the kids in the pool. What's this with DH. WTF. Do I have to bring Donnie up there too? Damn I guess my head injuries are just tripping me off my last edge. Just about into a rant. But not enough wine.
Chit still 2pages behind , but going to Donnie.

Sassy ~ FFH and I had a "prayer meeting" Sunday night. Told him what was needed to be done and gave him until the end of the week to do it. I have his bestie and our family backing me up. Shame is a powerful tool. He won't want to look "bad" so it will all get done, No Donnie necessary!
Our county is one of those little oddities of history. We are fully part of the United States even though there was never a formal agreement made to re-join the union. All the stuff I found on Google said we were called "The Independent Republic" because of the independent nature of the county residents. Ah, it's the winners that (re)write the history books.....
We are fiercely patriotic here, but is fun to say "not my problem" when things get screwy
-
OMD....Almost Missed it!
-
MammaRay- thinking of you and praying for better days.
Rosevalley- I have been lectured by my BS about weight and cancer. Been trying to loose weight but very difficult on the AIs. I am exercising regularly and hardly eat anything and it is tough. That being said, I will continue to work on it. I know extra weight helps nothing. Thank you for sharing that update with us!
-
Well only 21 hours until I am back in my own bed.
And yes Sas I did talk to the case manager about home health and they are working on it.
Sooooo looking forward to a good cup of coffee on Friday morning.
Loverly - I have no idea when I'll make it back to Redding. What idea are you having? If there is a specific reason to head south, I could. Definitely when the temps are cooler though.
-
JunieB, I had this crazy idea about visiting Oregon this weekend with DH (I am spontaneous the opposite of DH) but I forgot about the kids and Mitzy. Duh! I wonder why my DD is an air head.
-
Feline, we have those services too, but we have to know how to work the system. Asking the doc for a Social Worker referral. The SW is the repository for services. A SW can be obtained through asking the insurance company too. I encourage folks if they are denied a SW. to use a phrase : I want a note entered into the record that services were denied, If I have an untoward occurrence b/c of inadequate service evaluation and help covered you are responsible for that" Generally, that gets action. Just saw a list of items written into Obamacare that the list ACA has is scary, They can do warrantless searches for a list of items. It's a big brother type thing. For example, b/c I smoke I would have to submit to a search if there were children in the house. A Mom would have to submit to a search if she was older than 18 but <21.if she had a child in the house. No complaint of a problem, just b/c she was Same if there was a gun registered in anyone's house that had a gun. There are several more just as egregious. Federal over reach.
Okay Loverly and Wenchi and Shepare our resident prayer folks.
Susan M49. Is M49 Telegraph road in Michigan?
Wenchie's bear..........Alpha bear. Okay
Smarrty, love the realmen
Mostly Mom, oooowwwww good luck, I'll wear my bathing suit.
MAMMA, Hugs still praying.

Good morning, afternoon, and evening!
-
Loverly ~ my least favorite time of day 😉
-
My surgery has been confirmed for next Wednesday. It looks like it may actually happen this time!!👏🙏👏🙏👏
-
Good morning Ladies,
5 hrs. 7 min. until am on the road again. Yeah!
Loverly - Yep, those family commitments can definitely be limiting, but having people who love & support you would all be worth it.
Sassy - spoke to case worker. Home health here in Oregon provides only bathing, O.T. & P.T. In order to have the shopping, cleaning, and transporting, I'd have to qualify for a different program through the state. That program is run through North West Seniors & Disabilities. Also, they charge the clients on a sliding scale a percentage of their income.
-
Hooray for Wenchie & JunnieB !
JunieB ~ Some of the local grocery stores here will let you order online and have your groceries packed n' ready for pick up at the door. Some will even load the stuff in the car for you. The usual charge is $5 and they'll let you use your coupons too. Costco and Sam's Club will do the same for free - I forgot that until just now!. I wonder if you could do something like that and have a friend go do the pick up? I think I'm going to start doing the same and have DS be my delivery boy
-
leaving my auto correct above
FFH is taking me out to dinner - woo-hoo! BBL
-
WhooHoo Shep! Dinner out. Pasta, Seafood, Prime Rib? Enjoy. You deserve it.
-

-
The s friend holding Elena. I have been with her 3 times this week. But no pics of me. I was babysitting on my screen porch.my friend came over. All I got. Sorry smaarty. I promise I will do better. Chemo next week , so no baby or pics
-
Junie, such a big serious sigh,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Tell me of PT OT and a nursing aide ....who is qualified to evaluate your response to medication that you are receiving on the 6th? AND how it impacts each of those specialties care? See my sweet. They are used to discharging hips and knee's, but not hips and knee's receiving chemo. It falls outside their algorhthm. Ergo, it didn't compute. Ergo, no one looked at it logically. CHIT

OMD< MY BRAIN INJURIESARESTARTING TOMAKEMEAHUGEDETRIMENTOTHESOCIACLCONTRACT. Translation: I'm pissed
-
Well Sas, at the moment I am right there with you (being PISSED PISSED PISSED OFF).
I got home from SNF this evening and all was well. I was so happy to see/feel something other than a medical facility. I visited with one of my neighbors for a bit, then came back inside to find a missed phone call from Dayton, OH. I listened to the message and was amazed to hear that it was my sister. I am happy and my mind is boggled by the fact that I am no longer an only child. I am a sibling & an aunt, all in one conversation. We got to talk for an hour and a half. Now the part I'm PISSED OFF about is that I now know the real truth about what happened when I was a child and was told by my Mother that my Father was such a B......d. He did have an alcohol problem, but apparently was a hard working, honest man. An engineer, a city councilman in the city that he lived, etc. At 11 years of age my Mother told me that my Father had told the court that I had died and that we would have to go to Ohio to prove he was lying. But the day before we were supposed to go, my Mother told me my Father had had a change of heart and confessed to the court. Now I found out that that was not true. Which means my Mother concocted that story to further her brain washing of me to believe only the worst of my Father.
If I had to face that woman at this moment it would not be pretty. I am sitting here shaking to my core despite having already taken some Xanax. Will probably need to take more if I hope to sleep at all tonight.
I do not know what else to say. My head is spinning. I missed out on a real, but flawed family, not just being raised and isolated by a narcissistic basket case.
Unfortunately I am not in the mind frame to share any levity tonight, so I will say goodnight and will check back later. Thank you.
-
Sorry Wenchie, I forgot to congratulate you on the confirmation of your surgery date. I know you've been waiting quite awhile. I will be keeping you in prayer for a smooth, successful surgery, plus a smooth and quick recovery.
That is the same date I'll be at my MO's for treatment. Sleep well tonight.
Shep - How was dinner and what did you have? Is the foot healing up?
Until Later.
-
JazzieJune- that is some pretty hard news to hear, especially as you are trying to feel better from your surgery. Hugs sister.
